Ulf

- Enamored by the days of gaoler old, though he is far to young to have been a part of them.
- Has a close bond with Larkin and believes she would have been his charge if he had stayed a guardian. As a result, his self-imposed seeker mission is to protect Larkin and her family, who is coincidentally the royal family. His loyalty is to the crown.
- Cannot smell the shade.

Backstory
- His parents were poor and wanted to give him the best possible future, so when they discovered the re-emergence of gaolers, they transformed him into one and sent him to the Fortress of Ends to be trained into an order.
- Training was hard, but Ulf soon fell in love with the gaoler ideals and world. He especially loved hearing stories of the ancient days, when the seeker order roamed free and the ancients ruled Sornieth and brought order to the chaos of the world. It is these stories that inspire him, and he too wants to work to bring peace to the chaos. Justice must be served, no matter the cost.
- He was kicked out of the gaoler orders for being unable to smell the shade.
