Welcome to the 7th Sornieth Winter Games, hosted by Clan Diamond Dust! It's a competition between clans from every flight to see who can come out on top and bring home the gold! Eight events will run during the Gala - enter as many as you'd like to earn tickets to the Ice Flight Gala raffles and special prizes (but to be eligible for the grand prize drawing, you need to enter at least six events).
Returning this year is "word of the day" to incorporate into your role play; if you use the word that day, you will be entered into a drawing for a bonus prize.

All the rage this year for the Gala? Ice farming. Well, more accurately, trying to run a cozy little farm in the snow. Surprisingly, many clans pulled off the seemingly impossible (likely due to well-made greenhouses), and all sorts of Gala goodies were labeled "locally grown!" Food stands were advertising "farm to table!" dining and serving regional favorites, like Winter Brussels Sprouts, Winter's Delight, and Winterbelle. (You sense a theme.)
It appeared that most visiting dragons had also joined in the gardening craze, as many were carrying garden tools and plants or wearing harvest apparel. The booths this year were decorated to look like a small village and, while the snow was typical, there seemed to be extra plants and potted pine trees as decorations.

The arrows direct you around a few booths, across a row of food stands, and along some gardening displays until you find a well-marked Winter Games booth.

I'll leave it up to you! All entries in the category will be judge the same (random.org), but you can compete as a single dragon or a pair.

[*]You can make your role play as long as you want (within reason), but please try to post a minimum of three sentences.
[*]The post can be about your dragon's preparation for the event, or waiting nervously to start, or actually participating. Up to you!
[*]Please don't have your dragons "win" or "lose" the event in your post. You can have them on top of the leader board or have a bad run that initially puts them at the bottom (or not mention it at all), but I do need some flexibility for when the winners are chosen.
[*]Participants are banned from using magic to win or cheating in other ways. Creativity is fine :-)

Lily stepped up to the booth and spoke to the dragon behind the counter. "I'm here to register for Figure Skating." The events were running concurrently this year, due to travel schedules, so dragons had to pick a time slot to compete.
Since she had signed up early, Lily had a lot of flexibility in choosing when she would do her routine in front of the judges. As there were so many other activities during the Gala, she opted to go on Day 1. Having practiced in the offseason, the Skydancer felt fully prepared, although it certainly helped that this was her home rink and she didn't need to have any training sessions to get used to it.

You can make your role play as long as you want (within reason), but please try to post a minimum of three sentences.
The post can be about your dragon's preparation for the event, or waiting nervously to start, or actually participating. Up to you!
Please don't have your dragons "win" or "lose" the event in your post. You can have them on top of the leader board or have a bad run that initially puts them at the bottom (or not mention it at all), but I do need some flexibility for when the winners are chosen.
Participants are banned from using magic to win or cheating in other ways. Creativity is fine :-)
You can enter the same dragon every day or rotate among clan members. Have fun!
Don't feel the need to enter all the events on the same day - you can spread your entries throughout the entire week of the Gala. Having the ability to enter the events at any time just gives participants greater flexibility with their IRL schedules.

Figure Skating
Lily stepped up to the booth and spoke to the dragon behind the counter. "I'm here to register for Figure Skating." The events were running concurrently this year, due to travel schedules, so dragons had to pick a time slot to compete.
Since she had signed up early, Lily had a lot of flexibility in choosing when she would do her routine in front of the judges. As there were so many other activities during the Gala, she opted to go on Day 1. Having practiced in the offseason, the Skydancer felt fully prepared, although it certainly helped that this was her home rink and she didn't need to have any training sessions to get used to it.

Participants who post entries in at least six events will be eligible to take home the Gold, Silver, or Bronze prize packs. A random number drawing will determine the winners.
There were also be Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners for each event, also chosen by a random number drawing at the end of the Gala.
No one will go home empty-handed! All players who do not medal will receive something from the garden*, plus a participant badge. *While supplies last - winter gear or an icy companion may be substituted if inventory runs out.

Jenara and Wishspell, the announcers for the Winter Games, were NOT late this year. WinterRose, the opening games logistics coordinator, made sure their reporting time was [i]much[/i] earlier this year. No last minute worries wondering if they'd show up on time.
The decorations on and around the stage were full of natural elements - fruits, vegetables, flowers, plant - mixed with snow and frost that made everything sparkle in the sun. Although not [i]quite[/i] as cozy as last year, the atmosphere was still very comfortable and welcoming.
When the stadium was filled up with fans, clanmates, and festival goers, a loud chime sounded in the background. The announcers took to the podium as contestants began arriving in the Opening Ceremony parade of athletes.
