Her large wings allowing her to add speed to the start and her small profile making wind resistance less of a problem. Being born of ice she remembered her childhood, sliding across the ice with her siblings. Her happy memories made her even more passionate for the sport. It was her turn and while her competitors were nervous she started off as comfortable as if she had already won. She would have been very happy for whatever she got.

Her call to Nature was too strong, even as she currently hailed from wind. It didn't seem to matter though, as she spotted others that just - well, it looked like even eternal snow would melt in their way! It was hard for her to understand why her new friends pushed her towards this event. She had only even visited wind in order to practice in the crescendo, the push was completely self induced, and the fight was against the air currents, not against gravity! She didn't understand how it was expected to not use her wings for the extra push, or the panic, and as she watched the Ski Jumping of the past two days, she saw that not everyone adhered to that rule as strictly as they should. Some leeway, it seemed, would be expected. It was a relief, and when she practiced she kept that in mind, and tried her best not to use them for any extra support. The harsh winds were always on their side, propelling them while sheer acceleration prompted them to go further and further. It would be an exhilarating jump.

Ypestis nodded sympathetically, but was undeterred. She was skilled at determining when Amanita truly didn't want to do something, and when she needed to grouch for posterity. This was the latter. The mirror smiled to herself when she thought Ypestis couldn't see her looking. "-you're really the best choice for this sport," the tundra was saying. "What's that called-oh, wind resistance! You don't have much of that. " "Heh, I guess I am pretty streamlined." "Yeah!" "Think I'll win, Pest?" "Maybe! Even if you don't, it'll be fun!" Amanita gently knocked her head into Ypestis's shoulder. "If you say so." Ypestis grinned. "I do!" At the top of the chute, Amanita allowed herself one glance back at her mate, who smiled and waved. She also seemed to be holding a sign cheering her on. "Team Amanita!a" was written in large l3tters, with hearts of varying sizes filling the rest of the paper. Amanita laughed. Her mate was nothing if not enthusiastic. "For you, Pest!" she called before slipping into place. The chute was designed to fit mirrors with neighboring ones sized to snappers and faes. She lowered the safety suggested goggles over both pairs of eyes. She would rather not have to clear snow from her line of sight. One after another, dragons took off, and finally her signal fame. She tucked her wings in close, flattened her crest against her head, and launched herself down the shoot. The speed of it took her breath away momentarily, but she regained it, leaning through turns and reveling in the smooth motion. She allowed herself to smile, and then to screech in delight. No matter what anyone might say, Ypestis did know what she was talking about.

He is easy to see against the light ice and his grin is unmistakable.

She'd been watching the other competitors in silence, one by one jumping down the hill. Of course from up there she couldn't tell how far they ended up, but she was sure all of them had made good scores. Everyone was cheery and chit-chatting before their their turns came. She wasn't so social today. The nerves were kicking in again. Another one gone now, just one more before her. Could she really do it? She loved it, but it was so scary. It was the only way she could feel what the other dragons felt like when they opened up their wings and flew. It was the only way she could feel like all her little bird friends. And they had told her she could do it too. The one before her gone now too. It was time to get ready. She sat down on the take-off bench on the ramp, adjusted her skiing glasses and waited for them to give her the green light. She could see down from here, so many dragons down there watching and cheering. Green light. She pushes herself up from the bench, let's go, and slides down the ramp. Fast, faster, she's going. And then the ramp ends, and she jumps. She always knew she could fly. And the birds are right there with her, flying next to her.

There was nothing quite like the rush of adrenaline that traveling at potentially deadly velocities brought on. Hence why she was joining an event that had "speed" in the name. It was likely unwise decision to compete in an event this big with not prior practice at all, but as she had heard Redmoon say once, go big or go home.
