"No way. With the ribbons and floating candles? She'd trip in an instant." Argentum shook her head, looking over the events one more time. "I mean, I've heard-" "You're seriously going to believe those myths about her living in the Southern Icefield for a while before she found Haoxos? She's mainly Nature element, she'd freeze." "We lived in the Viridian Labyrinth for a while, are you going to say she'll burn now?" "No, but it still seems unlikely. Anyways, I'm going to try out cross-country skiing." The grey Pearlcatcher blinked. "Skiing? Seems...not quite your speed." "Well you said you'd sign up for slalom. That seems potentially disastrous, given how at this rate you may as well be nicknamed Xalucin 'Uncontrolled Magic'." "That's only when I try to use-- Whatever, you'll take it back when I win!" Xalucin retorted, darting off to sign up. Shaking her head, Argentum put her name down for cross-country skiing, only hoping that her overly enthusiastic light elemental friend would make it out of her event alright. Xalucin, Alpine Skiing (Slalom) "I'm here to sign up for the slalom." Xalucin said, feeling only the slightest bit self conscious after her and Argentum's talk. I CAN control my magic when I'm not using it... It's just when I actually make an attempt that things get out of hand...Wait, the attendant just let me in without asking about-- Okay cool. I can live with this. Strapping on her skis at the top of the hill, she waited for her turn to ski, watching the other contestants as carefully as she could to see which techniques worked, and which ones didn't. And then, it was her turn to go. She looked down the hill, mentally figuring out which route she'd take... And the announcer yelled "Contestant number 42, Xalucin, will be starting her course in 3...2...1...GO!" And she was off. Amojra, Ski Jumping That...is a big hill. Amojra was prepared for this, but compared to her small stature, the hill just seemed even more imposing. Being a Wind dragon has its advantages. All too soon, it was her turn, and she took off, every second putting her closer and closer to the jump. And then it was the end of the hill, and she felt the wind in her face as she soared through the air. Amojra hit the ground safely, having completely forgotten her anxieties once the jump itself happened.

Xalucin, Alpine Skiing (Slalom)

"I'm here to sign up for the slalom." Xalucin said, feeling only the slightest bit self conscious after her and Argentum's talk. I CAN control my magic when I'm not using it... Amojra, Ski Jumping

That...is a big hill. Amojra was prepared for this, but compared to her small stature, the hill just seemed even more imposing. Perhaps entering this Winter Games competition hadn't been such a great idea after all.... No, I'll be fine, if I HAVE to, I'll use magic to save myself, even if it means being disqualified.
You're going to be amazing.
You can do this. It's just within your reach. Just breathe.
The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go.

Info & Day 2 with Bufara

Info
As the priestess of Ice in the Temple of Storms, ice skating came natural to her. Her little Nocturne feet made standing a little wierd but sliding across the ice, felling the wind blow and having to keep balance on such slippery ground strangely felt a lot better? It also was a nice way to move across the halls when the floor froze because someone forgot to close the door while sweeping.

Day 2

Bufura shouldnt feel that nervous, there was no reason for this. She did it so many times but infront of so many people its different.

"Hey, you are here just to show your talent, no need to feel pressured." came the Prophet of the Temple who makes a quick check on here before the announcement comes in as the dragon before her is about to finish her beautiful display of skill and work.

"I know, i know. Its just some called my skating a simple myth in the halls and...what if it is like that? Not true?" the guardian laughs with a deep baritone voice that makes his fins vibrate.
"No no, trust me, you are quite good, i saw it myself! Now get on the ice and show what control a priestess of ice has over our element."
Taking deep breaths, Bufara makes her way to the arena, passing by the previous skater who she gave a quick respecting nod before her blades touch the ice and she was in her element.

The moment arrived and Geo couldn't be more excited about it. He and the rest of the team were ready for the action. They had practiced the complete year, skating on their own homemade ice rink outside their lair. Cotton and Auros joined forces and made new gear for their team, including new wooded hockey sticks, and bright yellow jerseys to use with their usual blue guards. Their round started versus a team from the Lightning Flight. They looked quite confident, and Geo started to feel the pressure. Thankfully, their captain, Aegir, noticed how the goalie's body started to tense. I assure you we have you covered. Let's show that the strong "Ice Flight hockey" it's not just a old myth on the books" - Geo smiled at the comment, feeling confident once again. The team entered the ice, moving quickly using the shiny new blades Geo made for everyone at his smithy. Every player took their place: Molok took the left wing, Aegir the center, and Volker the left wing. On the defense, Davos and Auros stood straight. Finally, Geo stopped right into the blue ice, touching each red goal post with his hand pads and stick. The crowd roared when the announcer signaled the start of the game. The opposite team center, a Ridgeback wearing bright teal jersey, looked Aegir in the eyes. The small referee Fae dropped the puck. Both teams started to move. Who will steal the puck first?

DAY TWO: CURLING Once again, a group of dragons from one particular Arcane Clan was making its way down the line of booths, heading for a particular spot. Unlike the dragons from the day before, however, these four were not glancing periodically at the sky, and did not seem at all impressed by the myth of a moon being swallowed whole. Rather, three of them were giving the only Tundra in their midst sidelong glances of astonishment, as if they could not quite believe that she was accompanying them. The Tundra in question looked a bit annoyed at the stares, twitching her tail in irritation from time to time as she walked. When they arrived at the large tent they had been aiming for, she quickened her pace, striding right past the sign declaring this the sign-ups tent for the Curling Event, and stopping only when she reached the sign-up table itself. Grabbing the sheet, she quickly scrawled down a few lines, then handed it back before collecting her equipment and heading out again to wait for the rest of the team.... Fortunately, when the Skydancer mage studied the sign-ups, she saw that Nebula had only signed the team up to the Event. She had not actually stated who was the Captain. Relieved, Bombarda put her own name in that slot, and collected her gear. This was her third year trying at the Curling Event, and she really wanted it to be the best. Especially since many of the rest of the Clan had come out to watch, including the Clan Mother herself! The young Skydancer took a slow, steadying breath. Her team was ready. She knew it. She was so high up, she could almost see the Behemoth from here! The snow that flurried around her made her feel an odd sense of calm - despite living in the labyrinth for so long, she still felt so peaceful and, well, at home here in the icefields. She had always believed that home is wherever you make it, and the "connection" to your birthplace was but a myth. But alas here she was, feeling that connection. She could feel the ice cold air surging through her veins, giving her strength. She could feel the snow biting at her toes, connecting her to her ancestors. She could feel the snowflakes landing in her mane, glistening in the sun. In this moment, she felt the most powerful she ever had. The flag waved, signalling the start of her round. Without hesitation, Noelani tucked her lean body in low, her slightly-smaller-than-average wings causing no trouble. She pulled her body as close to the skis as possible, and then leapt forward, off the ramp, at the last possible moment. It took everything in her not to spread her wings and enjoy the glorious wind soaring past her, but she held strong and flew through the air, faster than any bird.

No, he was not flying, but going at such a speed around the course as he participated in the luge event that his wings began to unfurl. He was reaching such speeds all he could do was hold on to the sled for dear life!

Caught up on reading all the entries - @Shougoney Very innovative use of Eclipse for the first day! @Venusian Whoa, Riun is pumpkin opal?? I wasn't expecting that when I checked out her colors. You did a great job matching her colors with the sylvan sets! She's very pretty. @Thoroughbred Hoshiko's entry intrigued me and I hopped into her bio to read more about her. Pretty cool tie in to the lack of magic / no magic in competition rule. @Katsuokai Welcome back! Fireclaw has quite a lot of competition this year, so we'll see if he can stay on top or perhaps manage to complete the set with a silver. (AKA if RNG loves him as much this year!) @SocklessWonder Curling continues to be my favorite for reading event entries... Your team uniforms are awesome, but I love the broom!! @NicoleEirin Great use of theme in the figure skating routine! Although I don't have time to comment on every entry, I have read them all and there are a lot of fantastic looking dragons out there, clever uses of the word of the day, and great writing. Thanks for joining my event!!

She seemed to look through Hollowmaw as she spoke, her body shifting and materializing in pixels of colored light. "Are you certain you wish for me to join your team?" She pushed gently, looking a bit uncomfortable. "This is... unusual." She hummed, and the Mirror looked at her, long and searching. "I'm a poor choice to represent Clan Lucerna. I have never played ice hockey, and the other competitors may view the presence of someone like me as dishonorable." It wasn't a bad act, and perhaps even Iris believed it, but Hollowmaw caught onto the little things. Like how the Imperial had just referred to herself as someone instead of something, and that curious tilt of her head when she had watched Riun compete yesterday. It hadn't escaped her when, three months ago, Iris had admitted quietly how she wondered, sometimes, what the things that she could never experience are like. Things like ice cream, and dancing, and sports. Mirrors didn't speak much, so said the myth, but that simply gave her more chances to listen. When she listened, she remembered. And perhaps Hollowmaw couldn't do much for her clanmate. Maybe Iris would never know what it was like to taste, or smell, or feel sunlight warming her scales, but this was something Hollowmaw could do. She could let Iris compete alongside the rest of the clan and put her on the hockey team. And if the other clans thought she was a fool, well, that wasn't any different than usual. The Mirror closed her eyes, a faint smile crossing her muzzle as she responded to the much larger dragon in a rough, scratchy voice. "Then it's a good thing we're not playing to win." Her gloves flexed, stretching her blades across the floor. "And if anyone has issues with one of my clanmates, they can take it up with me." She rumbled. Her smile faded, but that gleam in her eye was familiar - determined and stubborn. Iris didn't need to analyze anything to tell that the clan leader wasn't going to budge. She bit back the question of you want to play, don't you? knowing that Iris would promptly deny it. That was alright. She didn't need to re-confirm it; she already knew. The truth didn't become untrue if it was never brought to light. Besides, she had talked quite enough for one day. The AI gave a slight nod, and Hollowmaw listened for the tinge of excitement in her voice. "If you insist, Hollowmaw." Iris chimed. "I'll do my best."

Ice Hockey
