Fireclaw had know spent multiple days at the Crystalline Gala enjoy the festivities together with Glacynea and Clarity. However, as his both clanmates were diplomats they had been spending most of their time attending formal events instead of enjoy the carnival games. Fireclaw didn't really mind this, since he and Clarity had agreed that they should spend some time away from the Carnival in order to allow Unknown to mingle with his teammates in the Game of Wit and Luck that Fireclaw signed him up on.
On the second day of the festival Fireclaw had went to the carnival grounds to visit Unknown and compete once again in the Winter Games, but he heard rumors about the sinister nature of the game he had forced his friend to sign up on. The stakes in the game turned up to be very high, with some contestants willing to do just about anything to win... and Fireclaw after catching a glimpse of his now apparently very bitter friend decided to stay away from the grounds as much as he could, after all he didn't really get into a fight with Unknown and he also felt a bit guilty.
However, the days passed and he grew increasingly anxious since he didn’t want to forgo the reason he originally wanted to follow his clanmates to the Gala; he wanted to sign up on the Winter Games for the second time after only taking home a participation medal last year.
He tried to make it the Winter Game’s Grounds on the penultimate day of the Gala, but got distracted trying to find out if Unknown was doing well, so in the end he had no choice but to join five events in one day.
‘’That’s too much! Remember that you were relatively recently injured.’’, had Clarity told him before leaving, but he didn’t care. He had healed up pretty well since getting into a fight with a with a cyborg, not once, but twice, during the Thundercrack Carnivale and he had been training hard all year long, so he wouldn’t pass up this opportunity to prove himself for anything in the world.
He reached the competition Grounds and carefully started to choose which events he should join.
‘’Cross-country skiing… hahaha, how about no, I wouldn’t be able to join any other events if I sign up on that the very last day of the event… . Hm… figure skating, nah, man it’s pretty but I’m not graceful enough for that, I like speed! Action! Excitement!!! OK, that settles it, I’ll join the remaining five events, starting with curling!’’
He signs up, picks up his equipment and salutes the teammates he will be competing with. He’s all fired up and they manage to cooperate pretty well with each other! However, it takes some time for the remaining teams to finish competing against each other, so while he waits for the remaining matches he and some other teammates decide to join other events instead of waiting for their match to start. He and his teammates do make it back later, albeit a bit exhausted.

The next event he decides to sign up on is Luge, something he had looked forward to because of how exciting it is to descend at such high speeds through the track! He was all fired up after warming up with the curling event and with his strong Wildclaw legs and claws gave him an advantage when it comes to maneuverability, so he was certain that he would be ready to show off his skills during this competition.

After an exciting sledding event, he was ready to join the speed skating event. Speed was his thing, so he couldn’t wait to put on his skates and woosh through the racetrack at the speed of light! There was multiple distances to choose from, so he chose the 500 meters race as to not tire himself out before the day was over, he still had more events left to join! But before that, his curling team was called to compete in their remaining rounds. They were a bit tired after participating in other events, but still showed off a great deal of teamwork despite having just met today.

After the skating and curling events were over, he thought about joining the Ski Jumping event next, but decided against it; he didn’t want to risk injuring his leg if he overexerted it before the end of the day. He had already injured it during the Thundercrack Carnivale and hitting the ground in a bad way while landing after jumping from such a high height could mean he wouldn’t be able to make it to the end of the day and he wasn’t going to risk that. He decided to join the Slalom event instead while leaving the jumping event for last, which might have been a mistake since the multiple twists and turns he had to do during the rapid descent maneuver through the poles started to put a strain on his previously injured leg.

Tired and his leg feeling a bit tender, he never once thought about not signing up on the Ski Jumping event. He put on his skis again, made it to the top of the jumping hill and readied himself to ski down the hill to then jump and glide through the sky at an amazing speed. The experience was exhilarating! Plus he nailed the landing, despite feeling a surge of pain in his leg as soon as he got his skis off after the event.
All what was left was waiting for the results from his performances, since he had hurried off from every single event he had joined without comparing his scores with the other entrants. The reason behind that being that he didn’t want to end up disappointed and discouraged just in case his score was bad, that would have soured his mood and wouldn’t have allowed him to do his best during the remaining events.
Now, the waiting began.

Kimberly's slim form, usually curled up in fancy twists, stretched along the snow completely unfurled now. The Spiral's flexibility allowed her to make the sharp turns with ease and correct any unforeseen movements in milliseconds. Her small wings pressed flat against the snow-covered runes on her glittering scales. If not for the skis, goggles, and helmet she wore, she would be almost invisible as the clear sky allowed the sun to turn the snow into a dazzling landscape of white.
Kimberly's deep blue eyes focused on the red poles as she streamed down the hill, zipping between each set one by one, her mental directions now starting to come out in hushed gasps as the bottom of the hill came into view.

Kailea moaned as the judges revealed their scores for the Arcane Skydancer in her group.
What was she thinking trying to compete? She had no chance! None!
The Fae fled from the rink, her coach calling after her in dismay, but Kailea ignored her.
She'd just embarrass herself. All that time spent practicing would be a waste.
Kailea found a corner to huddle in somewhere and wrapped her wings around herself, painfully aware of how much she was shaking.
There was no way she could skate like this. She should just go home. Yes! That sounded like a wonderful idea.
"Kaily?"
The shining green nose of Kailea's mate, Leonardo, appeared between her wings. The slender Skydancer lowered himself next to her and wiped away a couple tears from Kailea's cheeks with one claw.
"I can't do this, Leo." Kailea sniffed and hung her head.
"Okay," Leonardo said.
Kailea looked up sharply. "What? You're not going to try to change my mind?"
Leonardo tilted his head. "I would never try to make you do something you don't want to do. I'm sad, of course. You've looked absolutely beautiful on the ice. I don't know if I've ever quite seen you as happy as you have been practicing these past few weeks."
Kailea frowned, deep in thought.
Leonardo nuzzled his mate's cheek with his own, using his tail to press her against him. "It's just another dance on the ice, Kaily. This is for you, not them."
Kailea hugged her mate and rose into the air again. "Thank you, Leo. Come on, I don't want to miss my turn!"

The time had come once again for the gala winter games. Hinata grinned under her mask as she made her way up to the starting point, the looks that she continued to receive were all that she could have hoped for. She may not win, but damn if she wouldn't be noticed with this clashing display.
.....It's not like she was at all jealous of the fact that Ria manged to win second place at Cross Country Skiing with no previous practice, while she never manger to even get in the upper half of the rankings for the Ski jump. She just wanted a little spotlight, that's all.
Nothing to do with jealousy at all.

Flying through the air without using wings is strange for a dragon.
The sensation of moving through the air does not disturb them the slightest bit. But this sensation is usually accompanied by the powerful strokes of wings shaping the air around them. The lack of it can be unsettling to some dragons.
To Cornelia, it was thrilling.
She'd jumped hundreds of times, pushing herself to make her bulky muscles as lean as possible. Sure, more distance meant a higher placing. But it also meant more airtime.
More thrill.
Cornelia grinned as she slipped her skis into place at the Sornieth Winter Games and settled into position.
Ready for the biggest thrill of them all.

Ria's body trembled as she picked out a pair of Skis. Most would think that she was just not use to the cold, but there was more to it then that.
Ria was terrified.
Even though they had ended up fighting in the end last year, it had been easier when Hinata had gone with her. It was so much easier to forget just how many unfamiliar faces were all around when she was with someone she knew she could trust (even if Hinata seemed to have no concept of personal space or boundaries at times and was way smaller then her). But Hinata wasn't with her this time and all the faces were much closer then she was comfortable with, closing in and cutting of any hope of escape and- NO!nononono don'tthikaboutitdon'tthikaboutit Focus on the here and now and remember that not everyone is out to get you.
Ria made her way up to the starting point, trying to focus on the fun she had had last time after the anger had burnt out.
(well that got darker then I intended it to)
