By Icewarden, this isn't your normal run-of-the-mill slide-down-a-hill sledding. This is actually kind of dangerous." He turned away, rubbing his paw in his mane and taking a breath. "I don't want you to get hurt." Pewter laughed and took his mate's paw in his much larger foot, giving it a squeeze. "I'll be careful. And I'll let you know how I like it!" After another squeeze, he started off briskly toward the equipment. Grass stared after him. "Please be careful," he whispered. "Oh! And," he raised his voice enough for Pewter to hear it from across the snow covered field; "HAVE FUN!" Pewter beamed back at him. "WILL DO!" He boomed, before picking up his sled and turning to the track. ----- [emoji=shred]Ice Hockey[emoji=shred] "WAKE UP, WEENIES!" Rosenfeld screamed across the rink. "What are you, temperate butterflies? Get out there and smack that puck!!!" Zircon was wheezing heavily. He was trying (and failing) to stand back up after a fantastic fall. "But boss! I don't think I have it in me--" "YOU'LL HAVE IT IN YOU, BY GOLLY," he roared. "What kind of lily livered longnecks do you think you are? If the Icewarden was watching you now, he'd be embarrassed that he ever created the southern icefield. Up, I say!" He made a move like he was about to skate over and smack Zircon, but decided against it, since his knees were wobbling a bit too much. Aura trod heavily across the ice, grumbling about having to leave her charge, but was interrupted by the puck smacking into her head. Jinju was cowering in a corner of the rink, holding his hockey stick up in front of his face as if he were trying to ward off the apocalypse. Osprey and Coleus were on their skates, but Coleus kept smashing into the other team at random and giggling maniacally while Osprey chased desperately after the puck but was never quite able to touch it. "Rosey, we could use some actual coaching instead of whatever that was," Osprey said, gliding after the puck yet again. Rosenfeld bristled. "Im doing a great job! And don't call me Rosey!" As he indignantly flared his wings, the puck sailed towards him, bounced off his wing, and got deflected directly into the goal he was supposed to be guarding. The rest of Rosey's team grouchily applauded as Rosey sat growing redder and redder. The match was going great.

@JinxMoonstone Aaaaa, I'm glad you enjoyed the uniforms! :D It amuses me to dress up my dragons, haha, good to know someone else appreciated them. (Curling has some interesting pattern/colour choices in the uniforms sometimes, so I had to include the Polychromatic pants as an homage to that.)

The rest of her Clan had been somewhat sceptical when she signed up for the Ski Jumping event, but when she’d seen the competitors practicing she’d been amazed at the distances they could glide – without even using their wings! Of course, as a Wind dragon, she was naturally at home in the air, but she wouldn’t be calling upon the Windsinger for help. No: she needed the Icewarden as her patron. That was partly why she’d chosen white as the primary colour for her snug jumpsuit, to mirror the deity’s fur and scales and the snows of his land, with accents of black to represent the dark rocks beneath the wintry coat the Southern Icefield wore all year round. With her skis dangling over the slope, Starsong murmured a few final words, whipped away into the frigid air – perhaps it would carry her wishes both to her personal patrons, the Windsinger and Arcanist, and also the Icewarden, and the three of them together would bring her luck. She smiled to herself at the comforting thought as she slotted her skis into the tracks, then pushed off from the bar. Crouching low and then straightening her knees as she took off from the end of the ramp, her heart leapt as she sped into the air. Leaning forwards so that she was parallel to her skis, pointing her tail and foreclaws behind her, she swept onwards, further than she’d ever gone before, she was sure – and landed with a rush of adrenaline.

Speed Skating

Last event of the games... We've done all the others, so why not this one as well?

That's what Nadia thought as she tied on her ice skates. The Sornieth Winter Games were winding down with a close, as was the rest of the Crystalline Gala. In less than 12 hours the closing ceremony would begin, and the Icewarden or one of his representatives would make a speech thanking everyone for celebrating Ice's holiday, but right now dragons were in a hurry to squeeze out as much fun as they could before the festival ended.

Nadia finished lacing up her skates and hopped onto the ice. While her mate loved skiing, Nadia herself had taken a liking to ice skating. Figure skating as a couple with Aiden had been so much fun, so while the other Coatl was off hitting the slopes one more time, she was giving speed skating a try. Racing on skates was no doubt different from performing on ice, but Nadia wanted to give it a shot anyways. We certainly don't have anything like this back home, Nadia thought, thinking of the underwater lair her clan lived in, and you only live once. Who knows when I'll get to do something like this again? I might as well take advantage of the opportunity.

So Nadia slid before the starting line with the other racers, crouching in anticipation as the referee raised his flag. "On your mark!" he shouted. "Get set! GO!"

And they were off.

As he patiently awaited his turn, a new sound gradually impinged on his musing ... a chant? ””DON-Y! DON-Y! DON-Y! DON-Y!” The WindSky contingent had arrived to cheer him on! Despite what the rules said, he couldn’t help but feel their support was magical! With the skill born of long practice, he tore off, all other thought vanished but the twists and turns before him. More WindSky dragons met him at the end of the course. Frozenth's hockey team fairly swarmed over him in excitement: "Come on! Come on! We've found a passable pub here and we're all getting together for drinks and chow now that our events are all done!"
