Biography

Julius and his sister Tropi hatched almost at the same time with Tropi being slightly older. The hatchery was full of other hatchlings when they hatched and they soon became friends with slightly older Halloween and slightly younger Pernis. They walked across the lair exploring its hides and scaring older dragons.

Julius liked to explore the lair with Pernis but the young spiral had not the best attention usually leaving Julius without attention till eventually starting to design monuments. Halloween in turn started to scare her clan mates on regular basis and Tropi started to spent time in garden partying with other dragons leaving Julius alone. He didn’t mind being alone but he was bored with no one to keep him entertained and having really liked exploring he decided to sneak out the lair to explore the wood the clan lived in. It was full of all kinds of interesting things and Julius chased them till he noticed having lost. He screamed hoping one of his clan mates were to hear him and eventually Alfa, his father, arrived and escorted back to the lair not liking how he had sneaked out the lair without telling anyone.

Julius though ignored his father’s request to not wander outside the lair if he couldn’t find his way home and sneaked out again when no one was watching. He didn’t bother paying attention to where he was going and didn’t really mind not knowing where he was as it felt more like a real adventure than when knowing where he was. Alfa, Tinker and others always bringing him home didn’t though like that and asked him to not go out if he couldn’t return on his own. Julius though thought that was boring and ignored their requests.

That continued for weeks and though Julius noticed others getting more and more annoyed with him to the point trying to trap him inside a spell circle he didn’t bother changing his habits. One night the clan held an emergency conference where everyone was asked to not go outside the lair alone. After the meeting Alfa called Julius and asked if he had understood what had been told. Julius didn’t really understood why he wasn’t allowed to go outside, other than his skill of not finding way back home, but answered having understood to get out of the situation and to the wood.

Sneaking out turned out to be more challenging than Julius had expected with all that unexplained fuss going on. He though eventually succeeded and wandered across the wood till he reached open area and ran into a searching squad led by Tinker. Julius knew he was in trouble and tried to ran from the ridgeback but she was faster than Julius had expected and carried him back home straight to Alfa. He was clearly disappointed with him but didn’t give him a lecture he was waiting. Instead he asked Tinker to lock him into a spell circle while he stayed where he had been looking a bit tired.

In the circle Julius got bored very fast and started to chew his tail tip before deciding to take a nap. Later he woke up near the midday when the rest of the clan started to get up for some weird reason. Julius waited someone would come to explain him why everyone had woken up so early but no one came. Eventually Julius noticed Halloween sneaking nearby apparently looking for place to scare someone and asked her what had happened. Halloween explained that someone had attacked Tropi and turned her into a nocturne. Julius was shocked but Halloween couldn’t give him more information and Julius wanting to know more asked her to let him out of the circle.

Halloween broke the circle and Julius sneaked to the garden where Tropi had been attacked according to Halloween. There were very few adult dragons in there and Julius was able to start tracking the possible attacker. He though couldn’t find any traces of it and assuming it had stayed on lower step he jumped there and started to look for unfamiliar scents. He had not found anything when he noticed getting hungry and decided to return home but having never learned to pay attention to his surroundings he noticed having lost yet again. Julius usually didn’t mind that but the mist that covered the wood during days gave the thing perfect circumstances to ambush him. Scared and tired he found himself a hide where he could sleep till the Sun set again.

Julius didn’t sleep well and woke up constantly due to nightmares he saw about the possible cause of his sister’s transformation. Some time after midday Julius woke up for a weird noise which he though was from his dream but soon realized it was coming from outside of the hole he slept in. Julius heard there were multiple of them and scared froze hoping they would go away. They though didn’t and one of them lied down to look into the hole. Julius noticed them to be centaurs and afraid growled to them and tried to scratch them. That though didn’t drive them away and Julius was expecting them to impale him with their spears. Instead they put a rabbit near the hole and stayed silent.

The rabbit was not far away and Julius could have easily taken it but he was expecting it to be trap. He though was hungry and carefully pulled the rabbit into a hole and was surprised when none of the centaurs tried to catch him. He smelled the rabbit to check it was not poisoned and after not smelling anything weird in it he ate it. After that he looked the centaurs outside the hole where one of the centaurs had lied down and seemingly asked him to rise on top of its back. Julius being somewhat sure these were friendly creatures came out the hole and mounted it.

The centaurs didn’t speak Dragonian nor did Julius speak centaur language and communication with them was difficult. They managed to introduce themselves to each other but other than that Julius had hard time understanding what they wanted from him. They used their arms and other limbs as well as drawing on the ground when trying communicate and Julius was sure they had tried to ask him where his home was but he was not sure if he had managed to get across that he didn’t know.

The centaurs changed their lair every day and after finding a new one they either looked for food or did something else. During those times the centaur that Julius had ridden since meeting with the creatures taught him some words and even let Julius to use its bow. He was grateful for that as he was sure to get bored otherwise not being able to wander around. Julius was sure the thing that had changed the breed of his sister was still in there somewhere and could attack him. He had tried to ask centaurs if they had seen the thing but couldn’t get his message across and not knowing anything about the thing decided it was safer to stay with the beastclan.

The clan moved slowly and Julius was often struggling against boredom when they were changing the lair. To keep himself awake he observed what centaurs did while they were travelling and not really understanding why they stopped to check fallen leaves he asked about that. The centaur explained they checked the marks to tell what has walked here, was it prey or hunter and if they had already walked here to avoid walking in circles. Julius was impressed by that and started to study their tracking ways hoping to learn to use them himself.

The centaurs avoided dragon contact like it was a plague hiding whenever they heard anything dragon related. That annoyed Julius as though he enjoyed travelling with centaurs he missed home and other dragons could maybe help him find it or even better they could meet with his clan mate who most certainly would know where the home was. One evening the clan was preparing their lair when noise of strong wings alerted them and they ran to hide. A ridgeback flew just above the tree tops so close Julius was able to see every detail of it and recognized it to be Bleach. Julius tried to follow him but he was stopped by the centaur before he managed to exit the hide.

After Bleach had gone the centaurs asked if the dragon had been his friend to which Julius nodded. The centaurs proceed to talk among themselves and after changing few words they asked Julius if his clan was peaceful. Julius didn’t know much about his clan’s policies but he knew they wanted to avoid conflicts with other dragon clan and assumed they would do that with beastclans too even though Alfa used to raid them time to time. He also smelled his chance of getting home and said yes after which few centaurs left to track Bleach while the rest of the clan started to collect their stuff and followed the trackers with slower pace. They asked Julius to try to remember where his home was and though Julius had said he didn’t know he promised to try.

They wandered almost all night, or that was how it felt, when the trackers came back and seemingly had found the clan. They started to lead the way and soon Julius saw clan’s central tree rising above other trees and eventually clan’s gate appeared behind trees. The centaurs entered through the gate and Julius felt how tension rose after his family noticed centaurs. Julius gazed his clan mates most of which were ready to defend their home while others were unsure what to do. Very few seemed to want to battle and Julius was happy to notice they were able to hold their claws.

After a long wait Alfa started to approach centaurs and Julius slid down the centaur’s back to meet his father. He barely looked to his son when he crawled out of the way and unsure he sat next to Alfa not sure if he should look ashamed or happy. Julius watched as his father answered to centaurs’ bow with his own and listened as he thanked them from finding him. Julius was able to feel his father’s disagreement when centaurs told he was a decent dragon and turned his head not wanting to meet his father’s eyes.

Julius barely listened when his father talked with the centaurs and took fright when Alfa asked him to go to the Hoard and pay back what he had used. He was anguished feeling his father’s anger and happily left the scene and ran to the Hoard. The Hoard manager had not awaken yet and not wanting to wake her Julius worked silently collecting food on a large canvas which he then carried to the centaurs. He sat next to his father and tried to smile to the centaurs when they left the lair and hoped to meet with them one day again.

Julius’ smile died after the centaurs left and he sat silently next to his father nervous. By the time few dragons had come to talk with Alfa and left them alone Alfa had not paid attention to Julius. Knowing he had broke his orders Julius tried to apologize but was met with Alfa’s anger before he could even start. Alfa was usually very calm dragon and seeing him that angry scared Julius. He tried to answer to his questions the best he could but he had no answer to most of them.

After Alfa finished he asked his body guard Obsidius to escort Julius to the healer and then bring him to the Crystal Cave that was basically clan’s prison before turning his back. While Julius was walking towards healing offices he wondered if Alfa had been serious when he swore to exile him if he sneaked out of the lair even once and asked Obsidius’ opinion. The guardian explained that he wasn’t sure as Alfa was on so bad mood because the recent events not giving him time to rest but at the same time Julius had proven he really didn’t care to stay in the clan so everything was possible.

Julius arrived to the Crystal Cave where he found Alfa talking with Julius’ mother Nemo. Her greeting was as cold as Alfa’s if not colder and Julius had to fight against will to run away. Alfa explained that he would be trapped in there for few nights as punishment and Julius understanding that stayed still when Nemo drew a prison circle and after that they both left him without saying a word. Julius feeling a bit bored in a dark and empty cave decided to take a nap hoping to calm down in a dream.

Not many dragons came to visit Julius when he was in the cave and he was very bored. Not even Tropi came to see him and Julius was worried if she was alright. Only one who bothered to visit him was Azul who brought Julius food but explained she was really not allowed to keep him company. Julius understood that and asked her to bring him bow, some arrows, rope and something he could shoot at. She was confused by that but brought what he had asked and Julius started to spend his time by practicing archery.

Few nights later Tinker came to release Julius and carefully he stepped out of the cave. Obsidius was just outside keeping guard but didn’t bother stopping Julius when he walked past him. Instead he told that Tropi was alright and told where she might be and Julius ran to see his sister. He found Tropi at the garden and recognized her based on her genes and size as she was barely larger than normal fae. She was happy to see her brother and Julius was a bit awkward when she started to ask about his adventure with centaurs. Julius told her about that and after being sure she was alright left her be with her friends.

While Julius was making his way towards his nest he noticed Alfa sleeping under a tree and felt sorry for him. He walked to the Hoard, grabbed a bow and few arrows and sneaked out of the lair knowing he would not be let back in if he was caught. He decided to test the skills he had learned from centaurs and flied to the earth domain hoping to avoid his clan mates in there and managed to find flock of trumpeter swans in there. He managed to catch one of them after missing few shots and started to drag it back to home. He used landmarks to find his way back to the home wood and used footprints to find the trail to the lair. He didn’t met his clan mates until close the lair gate and was happy when they didn’t try to stop him.

In the lair Julius brought the swan to Alfa who had not changed his place and apologized his stupid behavior. Alfa admitted that he had overreacted a little bit and apologized his own behavior. Julius felt a spark of joy when his father asked about the swan and he was able to explain how the centaurs had taught him how to track stuff and how to use bow and arrows. He was surprised to hear praise from his father and a bit awkward left Alfa enjoy the swan while he decided to go practice shooting. He wanted to decrease amount of miss and get more used to tracking.

Small pile of pink petals.

Julius worked hard to improve with his new skills and eventually managed to get rid of the ”always lost” -title he had had so long. He spent a lot of time in the wood practicing his skills and noticed how much he enjoyed spending time in there. He knew he was good with reading the environment and improved with his shooting all the time and decided to put those skills to good use. Still remembering what happened to Tropi Julius started to keep an eye on the wildlife of the wood and made sure the creatures in there didn’t threaten his clan.

While Julius did his scouting routines he time to time met with the centaurs that had helped him earlier. He used to hang out with them usually sharing information about the creatures they encountered in the wood or just studied each other’s language. Julius had a close bond with the pack and to help each clan to understand each others he promised to take an apprentice from them who would both learn dragon ways of life and teach its own customs to the dragons.

Wanting to be part of the clan Julius was often participating in hunting groups as he was both a good hunter and a social dragon. Because he hunted mostly with his bow and arrows he usually departed as soon as they arrived to the gathering area. One night when he was tracking prey Julius heard someone screaming not that far away. He sneaked to see what was going on and found Malla from insect catching group being attacked by a weird creature. She was clearly in trouble and Julius decided to come to aid her and managed to drive the creature away with few cuts before others arrived. Malla was very grateful for Julius’ help and he had to repeat that it was no big deal.

The cuts were not deep but Julius’ gathering mates insisted he’d see the healer and not really having anything else to do he paid him a visit. While he was having his cuts taken care of Malla came to visit to thank him again despite having already done that few dozen times at the gathering area. Julius started to get annoyed by that and wondered if saving the spiral had been a good idea after all.

Things didn’t continue nice for Julius after he left the healing offices and continued scouting clan’s surroundings. Julius was not sure what the spiral wanted from him but Malla kept following him even outside the lair in the wood. She wasn’t the most careful dragon nor was she smart and Julius ended up spending more time keeping her out of obvious dangers than checking the wildlife. He found that very annoying and tried to make the spiral understand she was on his way but she didn’t seem to understand.

Few nights later the breed changer struck again and Julius was ready to track it down and catch it but couldn’t once again find any traces of it. Also its target was Malla and Julius sure it was because of her stupidity soon lost interest in tracking the breed changer, especially when she wanted him to do that. Julius kind of hoped being turned into a guardian would either make Malla leave him alone or at least make her a bit smarter but that didn’t happen. Instead she became even bigger headache for Julius.

Malla still wanting Julius’ attention kept following him to his scouting journeys just making twice as much noise than when she was a spiral. She was also a lot bigger and was easily seen and the two got ambushed fair amount of times especially when she wouldn’t shut up. She had also not learned to be more careful after the breed change and if creatures were not hunting them then Julius had to make sure Malla was not walking straight to the hunter.

Julius was getting frustrated with the guardian but he had noticed asking her to leave him alone was like screaming to a wall. She just kept following him asking him to be her ”prince” but Julius had made it clear he didn’t care and tried to get rid of Malla by leaving her without attention if that was possible hoping she would get bored and move on. Sadly, Malla was not easily bored nor was she wanted company to anything meaning following Julius was best activity she had much to Julius’ annoyance.

Julius had to stand Malla almost a half of a year and even longer if it wasn’t for one unexpected event. Julius was once again trying to do some scouting while Malla followed him when a weird creature attacked them. It looked like a large crystal snake with spider legs which freaked Malla out and she tried to run away while Julius realized it should be attracted away from the lair. Getting its attention wasn’t hard but not getting hit was and Julius soon noticed to be in a tight corner. It was very fast and hit hard and its crystal scales protected it from both Julius’ claws and arrows.

He tried to avoids its hit while trying to lure it away from the lair but grew tired fast the creature ended up pressing him against the ground. Julius was surprised when Malla joined the battle and pushed the thing away from him. He watched tired how Malla tried to fight the creature almost as large as she when he heard reinforcements arriving and called them closer. The creature ran away after hearing more dragons coming and Julius told his clan mates where it had gone. He would have joined them but his cuts were still painful but not as bad as Malla’s that started to cover her body with crystals.

Julius was carried away before he could see what happened to Malla and was brought to healing offices. His cuts were healed without any signs of them starting to grow crystals. While he was a patient he heard that Kanerva had managed to stop crystals growing on Malla and that the creature had been Milla under a spell. Julius was sure this had been the breed changer’s doing and after being let out of the offices he started to scout for the thing.

Walking in the wood alone felt very weird after having had to stand Malla’s whining for so long but lack of it didn’t bother Julius. Instead he found it to be refreshing and he enjoyed being able to hunt after so long though his tracking skills were a bit rusty. He visited the place where Milla had been found with amnesia, like in two first cases, and tracked what route she had taken to get in there but neither beginning nor end gave any hints of what the breed changer was. He though started to make some progress after talking with Milla’s client Borealis who told that Milla had been teleported elsewhere before being transformed telling Julius that the thing was a mage using teleportation to stay hidden.

That didn’t make Julius’ job any easier knowing he could not track being that was able to travel without leaving a trace. Realizing his current way wouldn’t give him results he decided to change them trying to find thing’s possible nests instead of trails. While he was doing that he half accidentally found Malla trying to hide herself from everything. Her body was covered with crystals and the dimly glowing talonclasp pendant prevented them from spreading any further. She was ashamed of her appearance and asked Julius to leave her alone which he did but he felt bad for the guardian.

Julius’ search for the being’s nest was not very successful and to feel less frustrated with not doing any progress he focused more on checking the wildlife hoping to find the nest by accident. That seemed to work with Malla’s hideouts where the guardian brooded seemingly having lost her will to do anything. Julius tried to ignore that but eventually gave up and paid Malla a visit bringing her some food to eat.

Malla didn’t want Julius to stay with her saying she looked ugly. Julius found that to be a bit weird reason but didn’t mention that but instead demanded Malla to eat saying she looked a bit haggard. While she ate the rabbit Julius had brought he asked why she kept hiding outside the lair. She explained she didn’t want others to see her because she looked like a monster. Julius understood that but knew that hiding wouldn’t help Malla and told that if she wanted to look less crystallized she should ask Kanerva’s help and not sulk in the wood. Malla didn’t answer and Julius left the guardian alone to think what he had said.

He returned next evening to see how Malla was doing and the guardian was happy to see him again. She had thought what Julius had said and asked him to bring Kanerva there. Julius though didn’t want to bother the healer by dragging her out of her office and told Malla to go to her herself. She didn’t seem willing to do that and after a small debate about who should go where Julius offered to escort the guardian to the office if returning to the lair was that scary. That seemed to make Malla happy and the two returned to lair where Julius left the guardian with the pearlcatcher before returning to the wood.

Julius hoped he wouldn’t need to interact with Malla in a long time starting to get tired of her but that seemed to be a mere wish. The following night Azul came to tell that Malla wanted to meet him and knowing she could be so stupid that she might come and look for him if he didn’t come he paid her a visit. She didn’t have anything interesting to say, she just wanted to see if he was alright and Julius struggled to hide his annoyance.

Malla asked Julius to visit her every night so she could be sure he was safe but Julius knowing he could take care of himself was offended by the request and refused to visit her. Malla though didn’t seem to like that and few nights later she came to see him while he was readying to go do some creature control. She was happy to see him alright though Julius was annoyed how she seemed to think he couldn’t take care of himself. She asked to come with him to make sure he stayed safe but he didn’t want that and having stood for Malla for longer than he should have said he was sick of her, straight to her face.

Malla was confused by that and Julius had to explain it to her, like he had feared. He told how he didn’t want to be with her, how she had made his job painful and how he had almost been wounded many times because of her incompetence. Malla though wanted to help him and promised to improve if she could come with him but Julius pointed out that he rather worked alone. She had hard time understanding what he said and tried to debunk his word by pointing how he had helped her. Julius explained that he had helped her simply because they were clan mates and nothing more. He noticed how that hurt Malla and he apologized about the truth before turning his back and running to the wood.

Julius didn’t interact with Malla after that much and he was proud having finally been able to take care that problem. Few nights after the meeting Malla had come to apologize her behavior and asked if he could be her charge. Julius, though happy about Malla finally starting to gain some sense, repeated that he didn’t want a guardian and he didn’t want to be with her after having stood her so long. That made her seemingly sad but she said she understood and as she walked away she told about her breed change. She couldn’t remember the details but she recalled it had something to do with him.

Julius was not sure how to take that information. That potentially narrowed down who or what the breed changer was but at the same time it maybe meant that it was someone he knew. He was worried it might have been centaurs' doing and paid them a visit to ask about that. The centaurs explained that they were more of warriors than mages and didn’t really benefit about changing dragons into bigger ones. Julius agreed with what centaurs said and was very worried about the possibility of the changer being one of his clan mates.

After visiting centaurs Julius asked Tropi and Milla about the change. The latter couldn’t tell anything helpful but Tropi recalled it having been someone she knew and that made Julius very nervous. That meant it was possible for the changer to have been in front of him the entire time yet he had not been able to see it. After that Julius tried to figure out who had been behind the changes but that wasn’t easy. No one in the clan seemed to have any reason to do what the breed changer had and that made finding it difficult.

Some time after that Julius heard that Tinker had captured Nemo but no one knew exactly why and those who seemed to know remained silent. Tension in the lair was high because of that and not liking that Julius stayed in the wood till the trial invitation was dropped and he joined his clan mates to find out what was going on. Tinker enumerated a long list of crimes that she claimed Nemo had done and that included Tropi’s and Malla’s breed changes as well as Finlande’s breed change though the skydancer still claimed it was no one’s doing, Milla’s transformation and many others.

At first Julius assumed that this was just an argument gone too far due to the long list but he was soon shocked when Nemo said she was behind most of the listed crimes. She told how she had changed Tropi to increase clan’s defense, Malla to give her some sense and Milla to trigger Malla’s guardian instincts because that took long. She also caused the infection of Malla’s wounds and removed memories to not get caught. As Julius listened his mother’s explanations he felt anger igniting inside him seeing how the fae had no remorse of what she had done. Angry of how much pain she had caused to others Julius prepared his bow to shoot his mother but he was stopped by Benizakura before he could release the arrow.

Julius left the court area bitter. He couldn’t understand why his mother had done what she had done, she was barely part of the clan so why did she even care. He didn’t feel good and to let himself to calm down a little bit he went to hunt. He spent following nights in the wood as that made him feel better and every time he returned home he walked past the area that was meant to act as Nemo’s prison. The clan had decided to make her a living wall to guard certain part of clan’s border and she was supposed to be kept in there by runestones. Julius was angry to his mother for what she had done to him indirectly and really wanted to see her to get what she deserved.

After having spent long time outside the lair hunting in the wood Julius returned home walking past Nemo’s prison when he noticed weird signs just outside the barrier. A very small pit with Nemo’s scent all over it which continued away from the barrier being followed by dryad’s trail. Julius soon realized that Nemo had escaped and ran to the lair to warn about that. As he informed others Tinker pointed out that she had noticed that and that Nemo had removed herself from everyone’s memory.

At first Julius didn’t believe that but after asking his clan mates he soon noticed that it was true. Only Tinker and Benizakura as well as those who had not been in the lair remembered Nemo while others didn’t, not even Alfa, and they seemed to fix her trial with another event having happened around the same time. Angry for what Nemo had done Julius returned to the wood trying to track his mother down. He could track her to the border of the wood before losing the trail. He didn’t want to try find the trail again and so he returned to the wood swearing to keep his senses open to find his mother and make her pay for what she had done.

Small pile of pink petals.

Julius kept his senses open to notice every and all signs of Nemo returning but the fae seemed to have left for good. That though turned out to be false hope as Nemo managed to sneak into the lair claiming to have saved one of them. Fen assured she had saved them from a weird beast but Julius did not believe that not having seen any signs of the creature the fae described.

Alfa asked why Nemo had come back which was irrelevant to Julius. He pointed out that saving one dragon did not redeem her and prepared his bow. He was expecting the clan just kick her out and was to choke to his own tongue when she said she wanted to take back the place from where she had run away already once. Alfa supported the idea and Julius released his arrow missing because of Tahna's interference. The wildclaw hold his arm when he wanted to shoot another arrow disagreeing strongly when Karmiini, who was supposed to be smart, allowed Nemo to stay in the clan.

Julius was angry because of that decision and often scouted Nemo's new home area, which was a sector north from the lair, ready to shoot the wicked witch if he managed to see her. Her bracelets allowed Julius to see if she was nearby but he never managed to reach her making him even more angry. Alfa tried to talk about the situation with Julius but he was not in mood for chitchat. Later Witchi came to talk with him but he did not care about her gossips only wanting to make Nemo pay. She though suggested him to talk with Alfa to see why he trusted Nemo, and also said Julius was a lot like his mother as of now.

Julius was very reluctant but came to talk with Alfa who had clearly been waiting for him. Julius did not hesitate and asked directly why he let her do what she did. What followed was rather long story about Nemo's upbringing and her family's death and that Alfa wanted to help her get out of them. That though did not convince Julius saying she was unlikely going to change. That was when Alfa dropped a meteorite and told that his centaur friends had been the ones to kill of Nemo's Family.

Julius did not believe that and Alfa suggested him to ask about that from them. He was not willing to do that but asked it anyway when meeting with them next time. The question made them nervous and Julius had to demand answer from them. The leader eventually explained what had happened, that their leader had attacked and killed every dragon clan it had found until it had taken its life. They though swore to be their allies and Julius believed that knowing he would have be killed if it was not true. Julius still didn't believe Nemo's acts were good but he could not deny that they had made clan's defense stronger and that made sense with what she had been said to have gone through and lowered his bow, for now.

For months things were rather peaceful Julius scouting the wood with Tahna and Vatta checking its creatures and avoided being attacked by a corrupted gaoler having lived in the wood for some time now. However, sometime after discovering new constellation and ruins a portal was opened its creatures starting to roam the wood eventually driving every non-dragon in the lair mad including Julius' apprentice.

Fen tried to figure out why the sudden behavior change happened but was only able to tell that it was not the creatures that did that. With that information followed by the gaoler spirits, both of them, getting very hostile and Silence attacking a plague clan Julius was fast to blame Nemo who had once again disappeared. The area where she was supposed to be had no traces of her and Julius went deeper towards the ruins everyone assuming they were Nemo's original home. Before he though managed to reach them he encountered the centaur clan that had heard about Julius' apprentice and they were not happy. To make things worse Silence had also attacked them.

Julius had hard time trying to convince the clan that theirs had not turned on them at least fully. He wondered if Nemo had driven Silence to attack the centaurs but avoided mentioning that due to their connection. However when Silence targeted Julius the third gaoler spirit she seemingly still sane told that all the nonsense was someone else's doing but was not able to give detail she needing to escape for some reason. On his way back home Julius though saw Shadow and Sapny in the wood both of them looking too calm taking count the current situation.

Few nights later both Alfa and Tinker with their guardians were noticed to be missing followed by ambassadors all the embassies being mysteriously sealed. As the unrest started to take hold of the clan the lair itself was sealed with high earth walls and trees making up the ceiling. Soon after that Shadow and Sapny showed themselves revealing the clan that the Sun was to be eclipsed in few days and they would be sacrificed to summon the Shade.

Julius did not accept mages' plan and started to plan ways to stop it. However the following evening Silence clearly under a spell brought Milla to the mages who turned her back into the monster she had been when attacking him and Malla. They told that would happen to everyone who were to try prevent them Sapny giving a creepy stare towards Julius. Wanting to avoid that fate Julius decided to focus in keeping the clan calm some using the opportunity to attack those they didn't like sharing the work with Karmiini and Kupari.

Julius did the best he could to keep the clan calm. However he could not just let things happen and was trying to find ways to prevent what was to come hidden from the mages. Utu was willing to sneak out of the lair to try get some help Kolari digging a hole for her to go through. Sapny sensed that and came to have a word with Julius he denying having done anything she calling his bluff. Julius was not sure what she was planning to do to him but Malla's whining made her petrify the guardian instead she saying Utu wouldn't get far as she walked away.

The fated day arrived clan leaders bringing reinforcements as the Sun was about to be darkened. No one had been able to do anything when a wyvern appeared in the middle of the lair its power forcing Julius to bow. They demanded everyone to submit to Them which Julius denied being forced to attack Louhi just next to him. The battle had not been long but Julius was barely able to stand when it ended and he lied on the ground when everyone rushed to capture the summoners. By the time he was able to get up and stand without falling the battles were calming down and Julius joined Finlande who was trying to prevent dragons being turned into animals from wandering too far away.

Once things started to calm down in the lair Julius kept scouting for missing dragons escorting the reinforcements as they checked the wood. They were able to find Silence petrified somewhat far away from the lair, both Tahna and Vatta in a weak state and Milla who was hard to get back to the lair to be reverted back to normal. After that he helped getting the clan back in running before trying to approach the centaur clan. They were not happy to see Julius still blaming the clan for betrayal but the apprentice having gotten its sense back helped to warm up the ties.

After the fire holiday the clan held a conference about what had happened and how they should move forward. Few had died, among them Nemo, and at least Alfa had been wounded badly enough for him to not be fully healed yet. Because of that he declared to step down for time being Julius listening the clan's reaction. Someone asked who were to take his place both Alfa and Tinker turning their eyes to Julius. It was rather clear choice on their part everyone capable already having something else to do and Julius having experience with cross-clan communication. Still, that was a surprise to Julius and he needed a little bit of time to process what he was offered. He took the place and did Alfa's job until he had recovered well enough to take his spot back. Julius was happy to do that he feeling very awkward to have higher status than his father.

Life was mostly peaceful following the summoning incident. There were few smaller incidents but nothing major until Shadow and Sapny returned and settled in the ruins. Things remained peaceful after that neither summoner showing signs of doing anything to harm the clan. The clan though was not happy about having them so close and rangers kept their eyes open when in the wood in case the summoners decided to try something.

The clan had decided to take in some plague students and Tahna especially was busy with organizing stuff left and right while also doing ranger job. Julius lent his hand to fellow ranger the best he could the two taking turns in who was scouting the wood and who was teaching scouting. One night when the two were figuring out who was going where they found Pascal, a young explorer and the wind ambassador, walking to the lair followed by a confusion of how he had ended up there. It was not that hard to figure out what had happened, there was a spirit in the wood who played with minds, and the two rangers told the obelisk to not worry about that.

It was less than month till the wind holiday was to start and the wind ambassador had been exploring the wood as he waited the holiday to start. It had not gone as planned thank to the encounter with the spirit but he had managed to mark something on his map, a part of the wood he had described as “wild and dense”. The ambassador asked if the rangers knew anything about that part of the wood but neither had ever explored the place that located quite far away form the lair. The explorer asked if they should go check it out and both rangers agreed it wouldn’t hurt them. It though had to wait since they were still busy with the plague student.

Between that meeting and actual exploration a new, or old, breed was discovered in the plague lands. One of the new aberration dragons made their way to the wood during the night when most of the plague students were leaving and Richard had gotten hurt during the encounter. He had survived and after Tahna had managed to talk with the aberration in question Julius informed leaders about how to deal with the said individual, or duo. It was less for the leaders and more to inform the rest of the clan so Richard’s incident didn’t end up repeating. After the last plague students were sent back to home Tahna took few nights to rest while Julius started to organize their upcoming exploration. Along with Pascal he decided they should take Vatta, Fen and Lemmikki with them they having potentially useful skills.

The group reached the part of the wood Pascal had marked on his map the other night and the short description sure was accurate. It was less of a wood and more like a house which had walls made out living trees. The wood had gotten slightly thicker as the group had come closer but it was clear where the dense part started. Fen flew ahead and after some time he came back saying the wood was almost like a cave for how dense it was. Because of that the group decided to move as a queue Vatta taking the lead as the one able to make way for them while Julius took the second last spot being followed by Pascal. He had his bow ready in case something decided to attack the dragons walking ahead of him.

Julius and Pascal ended up being rather far away from Vatta and Tahna who walked ahead because Fen and Lemmikki, two scholars, kept stopping and Julius didn’t think he should walk past them. The two ahead had noticed that and slowed down the tail managing to catch up with the head just in time for Vatta to tell everyone to stop. Julius with bow in hand scouted the surrounding trees with his heat eyes but saw nothing out of ordinary. Vatta had not turned his eyes from the wall of trees just in front him and Julius assumed there was something there. When the druid asked the trees to move Julius moved closer ready to release the arrow into the area that opened behind the trees. It though was empty beyond a lone broken structure.

Tahna offered to walk in to check what it was and Julius kept his bow ready in case something attacked the plague ambassador. Nothing happened and the rest of the group stepped in to examine the structure. No one was entirely sure what it was supposed to be but Pascal though it looked like a seal. He had seen similar things when exploring old ruins. Fen supported the theory the fae having found some footprints on the ground leading away from the structure. They seemed fresh and Julius thought they needed to figure out what had escaped in case it was dangerous. For what they knew, it could have been similar in nature to the wyvern Lemmikki suggested had been sealed in there before ending up in the lair during the summoning incident.

The group followed the trail outside the dense wood that making Julius more determined to find the thing. If it had been sealed away, there was a chance it was a serious threat to the lair. They followed the trail until it suddenly ended. Julius was fast to check the nearby trees. The situation reminded him of the time when they had encountered Akakabuto for the first time and he didn’t want to almost be crushed by a larger being second time. That was when Lemmikki screamed and Julius turned to see a five-headed dragon looking thing holding the pearlcatcher down.

Two of the heads were focused on the younger dragon while the remaining three heads stared at the rest of the group. Julius shot an arrow into one of its many eyes the head in question pulling back in pain while the rest didn’t seem to notice. Another head retaliated by shooting, what seemed like earth magic, towards Julius he avoiding it quite easily. His eyes had followed the bold and when he turned his eyes back to the thing another head was breathing fire and Julius stepped back to avoid being burned.

Pascal was the one to attack the thing head on Julius taking that opportunity to get to better position. Pascal managed to push the thing away from Lemmikki and as Vatta used the plant to tie the thing down Julius started firing arrows at it he using both tranquilizer arrows and poisonous ones. They though didn’t seem to have much effect as the thing eventually pulled itself free and flied away like the arrows had not have anything on them.

The thing circled the dragons on the ground eventually trying to attack Vatta. Pascal though was fast to react and pushed it away. Julius had prepared another arrow and had straight shot to the thing when they heard Monsoon approaching. Pascal claimed that was reinforcements either to scare the thing away or because he didn’t know but sure enough the thing flew away saying it was not the time, yet. The group hid from the approaching spirit and after it left Tahna asked if everyone was alright. Julius was totally fine but Lemmikki was not she having died on the spot. Julius could not do anything and just lowered his hat to show respect. After that the group decided to head home Julius keeping his eyes in the sky just in case.

Back in the lair everyone went their separate ways Tahna and Pascal, who was carrying Lemmikki, making their way towards the sanctuary. Julius made his way to Alfa telling what had happened to the leader who in turn left to inform Tinker before heading to the sanctuary. At least that was what Julius assumed he did after he got the information. After that Julius made his way to Svecica and asked him to warn the clan about the thing that had called itself Demoni. He didn’t want the thing to take any more lives until they knew what it was and what it wanted exactly.

Things remained peaceful until the end of the year when three dragons managed to get bounties on their heads and Julius had to spend a lot of time making sure bounty hunters didn’t sneak in. Despite of that the biggest problem ended up being a young mage Naru who kidnapped Finlande because she had a power to contact the fate. After clan and centaurs’ shared guardian spirits asked her to stop, she ran away and Julius was peeved that he failed to catch the mage. Her earth manipulation skills managed to slow him down enough for her to escape with her prisoner. Julius also wasn’t sure how he felt about the power Finlande had.

The bounty hunter issue was solved within two months and Julius kept doing his job as usual. The clan had recently had its sixth anniversary when something massive fell from space, something so large it was probably visible in the neighboring regions as well. Young cosmologist Gini had calculated that while the biggest chunk had landed on the sea west from Dream Wood part of it had hit the ground. Julius and Tahna agreed they should check if the massive chunk had had any aliens on it and if they were thread to them. They took Fen and Gini with them as Vatta was not home at all, Nova had gone to the Observatory following the impact and Astral decided to monitor if more was to fall. With that the group left before the potential lifeforms scattered.

Gini made Julius a bit nervous. Not only was she very young lacking experience the other two space experts had she was also non-verbal. She used morse code and sign language to communicate and Julius was not good with either of them. Gini was also prone to acting out if she was not understood correctly. Thus far there had not been misunderstandings or other problems, mainly because everyone remained silent as if keeping their ears open for unfamiliar, or dangerous, sounds. They were well past the safe zone, anything could attack them in there.

The object had hit ground near the western edge of the Dream Wood, Julius could hear the waves as they eventually found the impact place thanks to Gini’s calculations. The nocturne and Fen studied the crater while the rangers kept guard. The two found some kind of trail and they followed it Gini first as the faster dragon. She stopped once she found a weird moth dragon who turned to face the modern ones. They asked who the young ones were and Julius was fast to answer that they lived in a clan east from there. They did not know what this new, hostile sounding dragon could do and it was better to keep the names as secret. He though asked their name and they told they were Renigra.

Renigra asked what the “foreign species” did in there and Julius was confused as he was very much an arcane dragon. Renigra though pointed out that he had plague written all over him, Tahna was clearly a child of nature and Gini was clearly from shadow. Only one who Renigra didn’t mis-element was Fen to who they told that they were created to live in the arcane like the other breeds were build to live withing their deities’ care. They should have stayed within those areas. That was rather weird point of view as Renigra was clearly an ice dragon, thus not from arcane domain. Renigra then told that Fen’s kelpie also didn’t belong to the wood while Gini tried to ask something through morse. Julius was not sure what she said but the hostile dragon got even madder and they bit Gini’s arm.

Julius fired an arrow as warning and Renigra was fast to turn their attention to the two rangers. Arrows were Julius’ chosen weapon and they were not that good at close range while Renigra was clearly a close-range battler. They managed to scratch Julius quite a bit and they also spit something, meanwhile Tahna was hit with stream of liquid air. The battle ended when a spirit similar to Renigra appeared to stop it. He clearly used a spell to calm the parties down and though Julius wanted to stay wary he found that hard. Renigra was not in a mood to battle with the spell-caster and left the scene.

Julius and Tahna went to check Gini who had passed out and breathing heavily. The bit had been poisonous. Tahna lifted the nocturne to his back while the spirit introduced himself. He was Weirdsa and he asked if the living dragons were alright. They were, mostly and the spirit escorted them as they started to make their way towards the lair. During that time the spirit told he was looking for a dragon with a special sword and Julius was worried he was looking for Finlande, possibly to use her power like Naru did. The rangers didn’t know where the dragon was, Julius even claimed he didn’t know such a dragon. After that Weirdsa wished the group good luck and left.

The group moved slowly due to their injuries. They had yet to reach half way point when Julius noticed his limbs were getting unresponsive. He stopped to take a better look and noticed Renigra’s poison had entered his bloodstream through one of his cuts. If Gini was anything to go by he would not walk home. He explained the situation to others and called the centaurs hoping they would hear and come to help. Tahna could not carry two dragons home and Fen was too small to help. The centaurs answered and as they waited them to arrive Julius lied down. By the time the centaurs reached them his jaws had stopped moving and soon after that he fell unconscious.

Julius later woke up in healing offices few nights later feeling rather hungry. Malvadust explained that they had not been able to keep him fed without risking him choke. Julius understood and he was given some food now that the poison was no longer affecting him. The centaurs had helped to get him to the lair, as Julius had hoped, and Tahna had informed about the incident to relevant party. Julius hoped he had mentioned what Weirdsa was looking for. They did not know his motives but actively seeking such a power could not be good, Julius was sure of that.

Traits

Julius looks a lot like his father being a patchy green arcane mirror with patchy yellowish wings. Their bellies are different color Julius’ being dark brownish while Alfa’s is bright orange but that rarely helps in telling them apart. To avoid being confused to his father Julius has modified his appearance with a spell making himself fully green with face being brighter than rest of it. His scales are very reflective and his wings, fins and crests are slightly transparent with latter ones being similar to drumheads and are more flexible than his father’s. Like his father Julius has few scars around his body but they are very small and stay underneath his clothes. He has common pink eyes.

Julius’ clothing is rather simple consisting mainly green ranger clothes to hide his bright scales those including a hat, cape, wing cover, leggings, gloves and treads. They though leave his face uncovered and he wears a green hank to pull it in front of his face to both hide more of it and to quiet his breathing. The most colorful part of Julius’ outfit is his bright orange tail twist which he wears mostly to tell his clan mates where he is when hunting with them. When alone he tends to use it to lure his prey to the range of his arrows or away from the lair. Julius is an archer and he is always seen with his bow and arrows. His arrows are color-coded by their feathers green being meant for hunting, yellow ones are for creature control, blue ones haves been modified with tranquilizer and red ones are poisonous.

Julius has calm and optimistic but at the same time slightly rough voice. It is bright and easily understandable but it lacks depth and charisma his father has. He has mild Fenno-Swedish accent.

Julius is an active dragon always looking for something to do. At younger age he was easily bored and distracted which were bad things to coexist with his adventurous nature. To have something to do he usually sneaked out of the lair finding hiding from his clan mates fun and ended up lost not having patience to pay attention to his surroundings. He though started to practice those skills after his sister was attacked and becoming lost when he was looking for the one who did that. Nowadays he is more patient having learned to take time to observe his surroundings when moving in new environments. Though he spends a lot of time in a familiar area he still has his adventurous side and he is always excited to visit new areas.

Though Julius often spends his time alone he is a social dragon willing to join others when he has time. He is liked company being both kind and optimistic not getting mad or upset easily knowing everyone has their not so great moments. He cares for his clan mates and spends a lot of time making sure they are safe. At the same time though he doesn’t accept using others nor does he forgive easily if someone were to hurt anyone in the clan even if they were part of it themselves. He does believe in justice and democracy and if he sees those were served he may eventually forgive but if not he is determined to serve justice himself independent from his clan.

Julius is the one in the clan that takes care of their relationship with centaurs and like his father Julius prefers peace. With centaurs he remains polite and trusting but at the same time he tries to avoid revealing too much about his clan though he isn’t quite sure what is ”too much” and tends to be very open with them. Unlike his clan mates Julius avoids antagonizing centaurs because of their past or species having trust in them that they are indeed peaceful.

Julius is in close ties with centaurs that saved him when he lost while tracking the thing that had attacked his sister. As part of their friendship Julius has taken one of them as his apprentice to teach it dragon way of life. Julius and Ravi the centaur spend most time together in the lair usually during their breaks but other than that they tend to be separately. Julius thinks its important to scout the border areas of the clan and that can be done most effectively when they are on opposite sides of the total area. Other than that they enjoy company of each other and both of them enjoy their almost mentor-student-relationship.

Though an arcane dragon Julius has rather limited knowledge of magic. He rarely uses it and can't really cast any useful spells but that doesn't bother him at all. He is that type of dragon who prefers to do everything by hand.

After having gone lost and having suffered his punishment Julius started to improve his tracking skills and is now among the best trackers in the lair. Along with that he started to enjoy archery and with those skills he is among best hunters in the clan. He isn’t a fast runner but is more of a slower type of hunter, the one that reads environment to find the prey and prefers to stay hidden throughout the hunt. Though not liking to chase his prey he isn’t against that and can hit his prey with scary accuracy even when both are moving. Having done a lot of scouting Julius has learned to pay attention even to the smallest details and his senses have grown to spot those better than most others in the clan.

Julius has spent a lot of time with centaurs and along with having learned their customs he has also learned their language. He isn’t an expert but he knows the most common phrases and words along with very few less common words. He is better with understanding than he is with speaking it but he is improving all the time. It isn’t much but it is still more than most dragons in the clan making him the go-to dragon when dealing with said beastclan.
