Biography

Finlande hatched in a clan residing in a Sea of a Thousand Currents. She hatched as guardian which meant that everyone expected her to leave the clan and find someone to look after. Finlande though was not interested in spending time with other dragons she enjoying spending her time in her own head in worlds she created. She was often alone and she didn't show any interest in real world even when she started to reach the Search age. She was mocked for being abnormal and the fact that she had no friends made her easy target to bully. Her parents were not helping with the situation. Her mother pushed her to start the Search saying she would find her spark eventually while her father told her to stand up to her bullies. She was a guardian after all. Finlande feared she would be bullied for being too reactive if she fought back, especially when everyone had learned she was rather meek. She was very reluctant to start her Search preferring to stay in her imagination but she was pushed to leave by clan's prophet who said she would find her calling above the sea.

Finlande made her way to the wind domain feeling call to high and windy place after having lived her whole life under the sea. In there she took a look at the vast world she feeling rather embarrassed to not know any of the landmarks she saw but at the same time she felt kind of happy the sights filling her imagination with many things. The snowy fields of the ice domain seemed the most interesting to her the cold almost like calling for her and she decided to continue to there. However, as she approached the Southern Icefield the strong southern wind hit her and not being a strong flier Finlande had no other choice but to follow the wind it pushing her to the north.

The wind blew her to the arcane domain where she landed near a border of a wood the trees having pretty golden leaves and crystal shards decorated the land here and there. She saw a path leading into the wood with some fresh dragon footsteps and feeling tired she decided to follow them hoping to find shelter in there. The path though was longer than what she had expected and thought about going back but the wood filled her imagination with ideas and she kept going eventually reaching what looked like a clan. Feeling tired after having walked so long after being pushed by a strong wind first and it starting to get late she decided to step in unsure how she should ask for a shelter.

Finlande felt uneasy the residents giving her curious looks and her brain locked completely when a spiral introducing herself as Azul came to meet her. She just awkwardly nodded when she asked if she was on her Search and struggled to say her name when it was asked. Finlande wanted to get out of the situation but she didn’t know how and she didn’t know where to go if she got out. She wasn’t sure if Azul read her mind but she directed her to the inn still being built and told to tell Vataja if she needed something. Finlande thanked and walked away as fast as she could.

Finlande rested in the inn few days Vataja bringing her food. She was thinking about continuing her Search but also thought about staying in the clan no one having bothered or mocked her yet. She didn’t really care about finding a charge, she just didn't feel the pull, but she was also a bit worried of her reputation as guardian if she didn’t find one. As she was going through her options a pearlcatcher came to talk to her having specifically been looking for her. Finlande didn’t know any of the residents aside from Azul and Vataja and being looked for made her very nervous. She told to the dragon wearing a veil on his eyes that he had found the right dragon after which he told her to be on a lookout for weird portals through space and left as soon as he had come.

What the pearlcatcher said bothered Finlande but it also intrigued her and she decided to stay in the clan assuming the portal thing would happen somewhere near. She had learned more about the world thanks to Vataja and felt magic portals were arcane thing to happen. She joined clan’s gatherings trying to not look too clumsy with her lack of experience and waited to find more information about portals or just seeing something that looked like a ”weird portal”. After weeks though she had not seen anything and decided to let the thing be focusing on her imagination instead of bothering herself with charges or portals. Her worlds had fleshed out so much since she had gotten out of the water.

One evening, when letting her mind wander to the wood a skydancer introducing herself as Afrodite came to meet Finlande her confidence scaring her. She asked if she was on her Search which Finlande didn’t know anymore but nodded nervous anyway. She then asked if she had seer gift which she was fairly sure she didn’t have. Afrodite continued by asking if she could dive which Finlande found to be bit weird question Afrodite proceeding to explain she asked because her client Itameri, who was the pearlcatcher having visited Finlande weeks ago, needed to master his gift in the Spiral Keep and they needed someone who could dive and she just happened to be the only other water dragon in the clan right now.

Finlande understood what Afrodite was trying to say and the skydancer asked if she could help them to reach the heart of the water domain. Finlande wasn’t sure if she wanted to return there fearing meeting her bullies and she feared to visit the Spiral Keep she most likely being unwanted there. She though considered Afrodite’s business to be more important than what she felt and offered to help the best she could with her lacking skills. Afrodite seemed to be hasty as they left almost as soon as she had told Itameri that they were leaving Finlande having barely had time to recover from the encounter.

They stopped at the coast of the wind domain so that Finlande could teach Itameri to breath water and Afrodite how to swim. As Finlande was finishing the lesson with Itameri a group of wind dragons arrived to meet them. Afrodite explained them what their goal was and they asked them to turn around as the water deity had vanished. That caught Finlande off guard and she wasn’t sure how to react Tidelord being her deity and she feared the wind dragons were waiting for her reaction because of that. Finlande though was sure that even if He was gone it didn’t mean something bad had happened. He could have just gone visit other deities.

Afrodite ignored wind dragons’ suggestion and they continued their way towards the Keep diving where most dragons choosing to serve the Water Deity dived following the route they usually took. The trio finally reached the Keep where even Finlande was able to sense the fear and confusion, though she was not sure if she was mixing her own emotion to surrounding dragons' emotions. Afrodite led them deeper into the lair trying to find someone to help Finlande following her with Itameri hoping no one assumed him to be her charge.

After Afrodite found Itameri a teacher who also organized them rooms to stay in while there Finlande had very little to do she mostly just staying in their room, or in her thoughts. Time to time she got out to see the very heart of her original home few times daring to ask bored prophets to help with her Search. Their answers though ranged from none to way too absurd to be any help and she started to wonder if she was even meant to find a charge. Eventually Itameri had finished his training and the trio returned home Finlande sneaking away like she had not been there when the clan came to congratulate Itameri who was now clan’s water ambassador.

After having returned to the lair Finlande continued spending her time within her imagination coming out rarely. She didn’t really pay attention to what was going on in the clan and felt like being looked down when she didn’t know the most recent events in the clan staying by herself to avoid that. She spent her time drawing, reading, writing or thinking sometimes sneaking closer to others to listen the music they did.

One night like every other before it Finlande was drawing random creatures this one looking like a cloud chaser but being grey and less decorated. As she was looking at the simple sketch a shock wave passed through her catching her off guard. She stood up ready to escape unsure what had caused it and after listening carefully if anything moved near she started to investigate. She was near the border of the lair like she usually was and the entire clan was from where the wave had come. Half curious half scared Finlande started to walk towards the center hoping to find someone who knew more about the situation than what she did.

Before she could walk far enough to see anyone she heard something weird in nearby bush. She froze in fear and listened carefully deciding to take a careful look after noticing it didn't sound like a living creature. In the bush she found a small pulsing floating light that looked like a hole in the space itself. It looked scary but remembering the prophecy Itameri had told she reached to touch it fighting the urge to pull her claw back. Upon making contact a bright flash of light blinded her temporarily and upon getting her sight back she noticed she was not in the Sornieth anymore. The place she was in looked like what dream realm would look like but without mist and there were weird creatures walking back and fort like in town without buildings.

Not knowing where she was or how to get out Finlande started to panic trying to find place to hide in an open area. As she was trying to calm down a creature looking like a swan with wolf ears and tail approached her asking her name. Finlande was crying due to panic and could not answer. The swan thing calmed her down saying she had nothing to fear and that she could be able to return to her own world if she had gotten in Finlande hiding her crying eyes behind her wings in shame.

It took few minutes before Finlande calmed down after which she started to ask question wanting to know where she was, how she had ended up there, what the swan thing was and what the other creatures were. The bird asked Finlande’s name first before answering the bird having the same name as she had. The bird explained that the realm was intermediate dimension between different world all being influenced by a powerful being acting as fate in Finlande’s clan, the other creatures were pieces of the being in their worlds and Finlande had been allowed to enter the realm because she was one of them. The bird meanwhile was the voice of the being in the realm.

Finlande was confused nothing sounding like it made any sense. She had thought that the Eleven, and maybe the Shade, controlled events in her world and the bird said that was still the case. The being just controlled events in the clan and the wood surrounding it. She tried to understand what the bird was saying when a grey wolf with white wings and a swan tail introducing herself as Wolffi brought her a sword. Finlande asked why she needed it the bird explaining it allowed her to pass through the wall to the realm and back to her original home. The wolf explained how to use the sword and the two asked her to not mention about the realm to other dragons as Finlande cut hole into the space in front of her and walked through it.

Finlande found herself in where she had found the portal and got out of the bush. She heard her clan mates’ scared voices and remembered the shock wave. She went to see if someone had figured out what had happened pushing what she had just learned out of her mind. As she reached others she noticed they all looked a bit bigger than last time, about same size or larger than what Finlande herself was. She was startled when Kupari asked who she was which Finlande found weird she having met with the wildclaw before in the library, though she would not have been surprised if the priestess didn't remember her.

She said who she was reminding the fire dragon that they had met before others joining Kupari as they asked her identity. Finlande was scared of what was going on and repeated that she was she others then turning to ask if she was turned too. Finlande was confused and others explained her few past incidents when someone had been turned into another breed and she took a closer look at herself. The reason why everyone looked bigger was because she was no longer a guardian but a skydancer with swan like legs and beak and solid color instead of her natural speckles. Finlande rushed to tell others that the breed changer had nothing to do with her changed look. The clan was skeptical and asked her what had caused it. Finlande didn’t know but was sure it had something to do with the realm but having been told to not mention it she had to come up with something on a spot. She said the shock wave had probably done that seeing most didn’t believe her but didn’t bother asking more.

After that Finlande avoided crowds like plague she being either asked who turned her into a skydancer or asked to tell where she had been when visiting the realm the bird telling her what events were going to happen in the clan she always being right. Later the clan caught the one dragon who had turned the ones before Finlande to other breeds and her transformation was blamed on Nemo too. Finlande did the best she could to convince the clan that the elder fae had nothing to do with her transformation but being forced to lie her clan mates didn’t believe her. Finlande didn’t like that but knew that was going to happen the bird having told her so. After the trial she visited the realm to hear what future held she not liking where the being was leading it and even less how she could not change any of it. Not wanting to think about it she escaped to her own fantasies to pretend her problems didn't even exist.

Small pile of blue petals.

Finlande stayed out of the clan life visiting the realm occasionally to avoid stressful situations and barely was able to name any of her clan mates. After her breed change she was no longer asked about her Search or charge and she didn't need to think about those either. However, the change was not all good she having no attributes associated with skydancer, mainly social nature and energy reading. She had felt flawed for having had no spark to find herself a charge and now she felt even worse for having changed to another flawed thing. Even outside of her breed's attributes she was lackluster she having no clear role in the clan. She was able to predict what was going to happen, kind of, thanks to being able to access the realm but she didn't have charisma to make others believe her warnings if she even tried to give them warnings. She knew she could not change what was to come but she could, technically, make damage less severe.

Finlande occasionally walked through the clan to find inspiration with her wolf she had gotten after her breed change. She generally walked the borders and through the temple before returning to her favorite place she rarely stopping at all during the walk. Once when walking though the temple she had happened to hear someone play piano the nostalgic feeling the melody had making her stop. The melody reminding Finlande of the time when she had had some faith in herself and like usual she started crying. She had to escape fast when she heard the pianist getting up dropping her sketchbook as she went through the portal finding the book where it had dropped once she got back.

One time while visiting the realm Finlande's namesake told about a near catastrophe that would hit the lair in some time and upon hearing that the ones causing it could steal magic she got scared. She had no idea when the catastrophe would hit and not wanting to take risks she decided to escape to the realm as soon as possible. She visited the lair to tell her pet wolf that she would return when things were to calm down and moved to the realm till that would happen. She felt bad leaving like a coward but she really was nothing more and she was sure with her skills, or lack-thereof, she could not prevent the dragons wanting summon the Shade from taking her gift. She was sure the world end would start if she let that happen and she did not want to see let alone cause one.

Finlande spent weeks in the realm following the events from a magic pond. As the catastrophe approached the residents started to be turned into familiars she watching as they wandered to hard-to-find places. When it looked like being safe to return she went through the portal having made sure it would be in a safe place and started to do something after having been missing for weeks. The clan was fighting to drive away the ones having caused the catastrophe and during the battles more dragons got turned into familiars. Finlande got some robe and collars from the Hoard and captured the confused dragon-familiars to make sure they were easy to find and get back to normal. After that she helped with cleaning the lair before finding herself a new place to hide as things got back to normal. No one asked where she had been Finlande assuming it was because no one ever looked for her, and few probably didn't even know her.

Finlande and her wolf got back together and spent their time drawing in their new hide when one night something landed close to them. It was an eagle turning into a spiral but instead of asking what happened Finlande, being scared someone tried to assault her, started panicking and hid her face under her hood and behind her wings to not let the spiral see her crying. The spiral, Richard, rushed to apologize having scared her Finlande struggling to reply with the waterfalls in her eyes. Once she started to calm down Richard apologized again before telling why he had come.

Richard had been the dragon playing the piano weeks ago and he having heard her cry wanted to know if it had been her and why. Finlabde was ashamed how easily she started crying and denied the claim but being a bad liar she was she was unable to convince Richard who told there was nothing wrong in crying Finlande feeling mildly offended. Stressed she told she did cry a lot waiting him to start mocking her but he just repeated what he said just a moment ago. Finlande did not know the dragon and not interacting with her kind that much she could not tell if he was being sincere with his words. She could not read the body language or emotions and she pretty much only knew the bad side of dragon bad news being all she heard if she heard news at all. She felt it was safer to not trust the younger dragon.

Finlande was feeling both annoyed and scared, maybe also a bit ashamed. She though noticed that Richard asked why she had started to cry. She didn't want to tell it had reminded her of a dragon she had let to starve to death within herself and just told the music had triggered unhappy scenes in her head. It wasn't entirely false and the spiral believed it after Finlande told she had vivid imagination, only worth-mentioning attribute she had. After an awkward silence Richard asked what kind of scenes she created Finlande giving him a very short summary. Richard said he could find her stories inspiring and asked to be shown them later before leaving Finlande being unsure if she wanted to do that. With a little analysis they could reveal how she felt about everything, including herself and the world they lived in. She thought about that for a moment and eventually decided she would not share her stories with the spiral. She hoped he had not understood that she would share them and she hoped he would not come to look for her again.

Small pile of blue petals.

As a fellow artist, although Finlande was unsure about that title, Richard let Finlande be by herself most of the time. They occasionally met when one or another was going or coming from having lunch and Richard had gotten Finlande a pet swan for lovebirds festival but other than that they didn't interact. She talked about the kind of out of nowhere relationship with other representatives one mentioning it could be homage to relationship she had with other Richard to who the Richard Finlande knew was homage to. The thing was confusing and in short the other self-insert, who could turn into the bird who shared name with Finlande, had weird relationship with an eagle Richard and that was reflected with dragon Finlande and Richard.

Clan life was peaceful for a very long time, mostly, Finlande assuming the entity had its attention in other worlds. One evening Finlande was again paying the other representatives a visit. It was nothing out of ordinary but when she was leaving her namesake asked her to keep the sword safe. That was very odd thing to ask considering she had had the sword for ages by then and she kept it always with her so stealing it would be hard. Judging by namesake’s tone she was worried someone might steal it. Upon returning to her world Finlande checked everything was alright in the clan before making her way to where she often spent her nights.

Weeks passed by and nothing bad happened in the clan. Even the Night of the Nocturne was peaceful. Sometime after that, however, there was a near catastrophe when Dio stole Finlande’s sword while under Nagabaro’s control. It was not the first time the spirit had done that, a year prior he had done similar thing to Purukumi, but this time things ended up being way more serious. The entity that controlled the lair had made few dragons into homages to their other creations, and those creations ended up being pulled to the dragon world due to the spirit. Along with her and Richard Julius, Pilkku, Marjatta, Borgite and Tadaborgite from clan residents and Lumi, Ninya, Nagabaro and Retsbiert from spirits had namesakes, and with help of Richard, Marjatta and Lumi they made sure the namesakes were able to return home before anyone got hurt. After that Finlande promised herself to take better care of her artifact so the event didn’t repeat.

Following the Namesake Incident life was rather peaceful for Finlande. Though expecting retaliation or retry from the two spirits who had stolen her sword, as they somehow knew of its power, they didn’t seem to be trying either, Marjatta had not mentioned the incident to anyone, at least in the clan as Finlande had no way of telling what the obelisk told to others while doing her work, and Richard’s life was also peaceful excluding that time he got beaten up by an aberration. Finlande helped him a bit while he was recovering, out-of-character for her for sure but there was stuff that bothered him about the Namesake Incident and she wanted to make sure he didn’t accidentally mention that to others in his boredom.

It had been ages since the Namesake Incident and Finlande and Marjatta had not really interacted since then. However, one evening the obelisk came to meet Finlande saying she needed her help. Marjatta was a mercenary and only reasons why she would ask Finlande’s help were to use her as a lure or as a distraction, neither of which sounded good for the skydancer. She declined the offer and was about to move to the library when Marjatta, seemingly a bit offended, asked if she didn’t want to hear why she needed her help. Finlande stopped and waited Marjatta to explain her situation.

Marjatta’s client had asked her to retrieve a magic mirror from a place called the House of the Weeping Lady, Weeping Manor for short. The manor had been long forgotten but now housed a dream lab that offered dream services to customers and Marjatta saw that as a way to sneak in to get the old mirror. Problem was that she herself didn’t quite look like someone who would seek out dream services, and even if she managed to blend in she was quite big to sneak around, which was why she had come to ask Finlande for help.

Finlande though saw a huge problem and that was the owners of the manor; they were old members of the clan. They had tried to take over the clan and after it failed they had hidden in the manor. They used new names, mostly, but the clan knew they were the group that had ran away and there was a chance that they recognized Finlande. Marjatta had hatched after the takeover attempt and thus she would have easier time to not be suspicious, even when the obelisk assured Finlande was quite forgettable dragon.

That was when Richard arrived to the scene Finlande giving him the recap when he asked for that. The spiral asked why Marjatta’s client needed the mirror the obelisk saying she wasn’t sure, probably something relating to research. She didn’t know how large it was supposed to be or what it was supposed to do but apparently it was an ancient relic. The client had asked Pahatar, the head of the house, if they could come search for the mirror but the wildclaw had denied the manor housed such an artifact. Whether that was true or not, or if the client had mentioned the magical properties, was unknown.

Richard was silent for a moment until he sided with Marjatta saying that if the mirror was magical, they should get it away from Pahatar. He offered to do the stealing part while Finlande could act as distraction by trying out of the dream services. Finlande didn’t really want anyone to poke into her dreams but she agreed they should get the mirror. Maybe she could use that as opportunity to help with her low self-esteem. After that was decided the trio decided to get going Sisi getting them to the Weeping Peak on which the manor lied.

Using Sisi’s telescope the trio was able to plan their heist from distance. What they were able to gather was that the manor was quite large and it was guarded by a wildclaw carrying a sword of sorts, Finlande’s money was on Lydia. The guard arrived to the entrance every time a ship brought them anything be that food, tools or customers which seemed to be the most common. That seemed to be the best time to sneak into the manor from somewhere back which didn’t seem to be in use like the front part of the manor. They did not know where the mirror was supposed to be but their best guess was it was somewhere in the back. Richard would sneak in and get the mirror while Finlande would get in from the front slowly to give him some time. After that he would use his eagle form to signify successful theft and they’d meet Marjatta on a nearby peak.

Finlande had hopped on the ship that was taking few customers to the dream lab. She was nervous but she did her best to hide it. After the ship stopped she let others walk in first and as she walked towards the manor she walked slowly as to admire the old building. Most-likely-Lydia kept a close eye on the group as they walked up the peak she walking closer as she noticed Finlande. She did her best to stay calm as the wildclaw asked to see her sword. The wildclaw looked at it, tested its dullness and took a closer look at Finlande herself. Maybe-Lydia had mask on her face and Finlande couldn’t tell if she recognized her. If she did, she didn’t mention it. Instead she asked why she, clearly not a warrior of any kind, carried a sword with her Finlande saying the sword made her feel safer when she was just by herself. The wildclaw had no more questions and she let Finlande proceed.

Finlande was still nervous when she met with Glenn and it didn’t help that they seemed to recognize her. They asked if they had met before and Finlande rushed to say they might be confusing her to someone else. She hoped that didn’t come across as a bit suspicious. Glenn watched Finlande for a moment, silently, before they asked if she wanted calming tea or something. Fearing mind-control potion or something similar Finlande was about to decline but then she realized she kind of needed to calm down in order to fall asleep, which she was supposed to do, and accepted the offer instead. After the tea it was time to fall asleep.

The session was not bad as Finlande had feared, or the tea made her think that way. She left the manor and went to the port to wait for a ship, lucky her there was none waiting. As she was “waiting” a ship to arrive she glanced to the sky hoping to see Richard fly somewhere up there. She though didn’t see him. It was about twelve hours since she had arrived which meant he had been looking for that mirror about same amount of time. The manor was large but it shouldn’t take half a day to find the mirror, assuming it wasn’t pocket variant.

Worried Finlande decided to jump to the cold southern sea and swam towards the back side. As a water dragon she was able to hide from patrolling Lydia under the sea. Once it looked like the guard wasn’t looking she flied to the manor and sneaked in from one of the windows through which a crow had flied outside. Once inside Finlande was still for a moment listening if anyone was nearby. The corridor was clean but dark and absolutely silent. No one seemed to be close and Finlande started to move forward slowly whispering Richard’s name.

Finlande wasn’t quite sure where she was but eventually she started to hear child like laughs all around her. Not really wanting to deal with dead hatchlings she moved a bit faster and her whisper got a bit stronger. She had stopped in a little room connecting corridors, third one she had come across, and she was trying to guess where Richard or the mirror was when someone whispered “left”. Scared she turned around but saw or heard nothing. After being frozen for some time she decided to move forward and took the left corridor as the voice had said. She was already lost, it didn’t really matter if the hint led to a dead end.

After walking down the corridor for some time Finlande started to hear some noises. Unlike the laughs, or the whisper, this one sounded like coming from a living dragon, and it sounded scared. She pulled her sword out, just to feel safer, moved closer and peeked into the room from where the sound came from. Inside she saw Richard, coiled up and scared muttering to himself, by the sound of it he was begging for mercy. Finlande crawled closer calling for Richard. He didn’t seem to notice her until she tapped his head with her sword. He stopped muttering and just looked around him confused. He clearly wasn’t in right headspace.

It took some time before Richard’s answers started to make any sense. He had not found the mirror but he had found the bird Richard, dead, killed by a snake after which things had just gotten worse. His secret was revealed and everyone he loved turned on him, his aunt became abusive, his two companions died and so on. However, Finlande saw nothing Richard described, no dead bodies, no familiar dragons. Her best guess was that the spiral had been hit with a curse or something and they should get going before it hit again. Getting shaking Richard to move was surprisingly easy when he heard a noise that scared him greatly, a voice Finlande didn’t hear. The two moved to the room in where Finlande had heard the whisper and they started to wonder where the mirror would be. As they talked Finlande started to hear some rustling behind them and as she turned to see what was making that sound she saw an arcane spell fly straight towards her face. She had no time to react.

Finlande and Richard woke up in the room being surrounded by the residents of the manor. Pahatar placing her cane on Finlande’s neck erased the remnants of sleep from her eyes while Suometar was holding her staff on Richard’s neck. The coatl seemed to be just a cloud of feathers and Finlande was sure she had been source of the sound she had heard. Pahatar was not happy to find them snooping around her manor and demanded to know what the two had been looking for. Finlande looked at Richard unsure what to do the spiral deciding to be direct. He asked about the mirror and said Marjatta’s client was looking for it. Richard answered the questions and Finlande took a look at who were present. Along with Pahatar and Suometar Lydia was also there as was Halti and Glenn. The dream doctor didn’t seem to want to be there and left early, and after questions had been asked Halti and Lydia threw the two interlopers to another room and locked the door.

After being left alone Finlande and Richard checked the door and the window but they were both locked and they had no way of breaking free even though Finlande had been allowed to keep her sword. The two had no idea what to do and cuddled up next to one of the walls. They tried to think what to do in total silence when Finlande noticed a light moving closer, or rather the light’s reflection. Something illuminated the floor but there was nothing that emitted light. She pointed that out to Richard who seemed to get scared and hid his head under Finlande’s cloak. Soon after that they started to hear child like laughter around them and Finlande hugged Richard to feel safer.

That was when one spirit made itself visible it walking on the air like nothing. As it became visible all the other spirits in the room did the same. They all looked like hatchlings and scared Finlande tried to hide behind her wings. The first spirit to appear asked the two to not fear and said Her name was Finibe. The invisible light was Girnate the spirit coming closer to Richard asking if he had come in contact with Shumi Kai. Other two spirits present were Vivani and Biu latter of who had apparently mentioned about the interlopers to Suometar.

Finibe had a soothing aura and Finlande felt her fears vanish Richard seemingly feeling the same. He let Girnate check him while Finlande answered Finibe’s questions. She had heard the two had been looking for the mirror and asked why they needed it. Finlande told what she knew. The spirits were all quiet for some time until they heard steps behind the door and someone opened the lock. No one though stepped in and after the mystery dragon walked away Vivani asked if they should let the two take the mirror. Finibe said She didn’t remember what the mirror did but She didn’t like it and was happy to have it be taken away. The living dragons stepped outside their prison and let the spirits lead the way.

The mirror was quite small, enough for both the living dragons to hold in their hands. It had been hidden in an attic with other old items, and by the looks of it the current residents had not discovered it yet. Richard was currently taking a look at the mirror when Finibe, floating behind Finlande, asked where she had gotten her sword. Finlande said she rather not answer and Finibe respected that. When the skydancer asked why the spirit had asked She said She felt the sword resonate with the mirror. Finlande had not noticed that but upon taking a look at it she noticed it was glowing dimly. She also decided to not worry about it as the mirror would not stay near her.

After obtaining the mirror Finlande asked how they were going to get out. Vivani mentioned that the current residents were keeping a close eye on the outside in case the two managed to get out. Flying out was thus out of question. Biu mentioned the well the residents used to get water but Girnate mentioned that Richard probably wouldn’t survive if they did that. The well went deep and the water was cold, also, none of the spirits was able to enter the well to help. Richard though had an idea and he suggested that Finlande used it to get out with the mirror while he stayed behind and tried to find another way out. Finlande wasn’t excited about the plan but the spirits thought the faster they got the mirror out the better. Besides, Finlande could inform their contact and she could try to help with getting Richard out. Finlande couldn’t come up with a plan to counter that.

The well was a risky play as the residents used it regularly. The spirits said they rarely used it during that time and Finlande didn’t have much time to prepare. She took the mirror and stood in the bucket that was supposed to lower her to the bottom. The well looked very deep and Finlande hoped she wouldn’t start feeling claustrophobic on her way down. Richard wished her luck and Finlande did the same as the spiral started to lower her down. It took minutes for the bucket to hit the water in total darkness after which it was probably a minute dive to reach the very bottom of the well. From there she turned to the surface of the sea, checked her location right below the manor and started to make her way to where Marjatta was supposed to wait.

Finlande was not sure if Richard had told where Marjatta was supposed to be but the obelisk seemed to be there waiting when she arrived. She was a bit annoyed that the two had taken that long and Finlande explained what had happened while she gave the mirror. Marjatta was silent after hearing the situation, most likely thinking of best course of action, after which she said she would get Richard out and asked Finlande to return home. She didn’t want to risk them catching Finlande again and she didn’t want to risk them getting the sword. Finlande wished Marjatta luck and swam to the safe distance from the manor before taking flight as she didn’t want to swim past the peaks of the Crystalspine Reaches. She was about to land on clan’s little port when a sudden thunderstorm formed right above her. A lighting stunned her and before she was able to recover Ninya’s claws took a hold of her neck and she passed out.

Following the heist Finlande’s life turned into a never-ending nightmare; she was kidnapped by Nagabaro and Ninya who toyed with her until Undreg and Naru came to save her. Tinker revealed she knew of Finlande’s power, Itameri told he would find a way to help her without elaborating any further, Pahatar sent bounty hunters after the thieves and Naru decided to kidnap Finlande herself as she didn’t want to lose skydancer’s power to the bounty hunters. Finlande could not do anything to help herself. She just accepted her situation and let the more powerful beings held her captive. She wondered if that was what Itameri had meant when he had said he would find a way to help her, she hoped that was the case.

Traits

Finlande is very bird like water skydancer looking a lot like a swan. She has solid white feathers with a hint of pale blue and grey here and there, grey beak looking more like crane beak and scaly grey legs all four of them having flippers which she also had before her transformation. Her neck is somewhat long while her tail is short with fluffy tuft and her wings have more feathers than regular skydancers. She is lacking claws at the end of her wing finders and she is missing her wing thumb. Her mane, leg furs, cheek feathers and spines are near non-existing like are her round and smooth but small forehead jewel and her antennae that are pretty much just tufts behind the jewel. Her eyes are paler blue having turned that after the incident.

Finlande loves simplicity and pretty much just wears a blue cloak to hide her face when stressed and on her hip she has the blade she uses to walk through the wall. It is slender and sharp and it has safeguard to make sure she doesn't drop it so easily and despite being sharp it cuts physical things badly and has no use in actual combat. Finlande has tried to mimic the look of her namesake in the realm and wears a necklace that looks like the bird's the piece of jewelry being pearly silver with a morganite piece. She has yet to find clothes that would give her something looking like gray wolf ears and tail.

Finlande has weak and unsure voice most of the time and she prefers staying silent. She is known for very monotone voice and she is notorious for her bad pronunciation and mixing of words. She has very clear and strong Finnish accent.

Finlande is a quiet dragon preferring to ignore her existence and living in her fantasy lands which she has many. She hates needing to describe herself she seeing self descriptions always as the most bias descriptions one can hear about others. She doesn’t trust dragons who describe themselves in positive light or who can’t function without other dragons seeing that leaving them open to become victims to group thinking which she hates. Finlande is rather cynical and pessimistic dragon often talking about bad things like they exist because of others’ ignorance yet she doesn’t care to act herself. She kind of wants to see how the ones having caused the problems deal with them when they bite back. Finlande never bothered to identify herself and always describes herself based on what causes her problems or with what she isn’t good. She never speaks positively about herself and she rarely shares her opinions she having none to share. No one has ever taken her opinions seriously and to avoid the pain of being dismissed she doesn't form opinions that could be ignored.

Finlande is timid introvert who prefers being alone over being in group. She doesn’t know how she is supposed to act when there are more than two dragons and usually just ends up standing silently nearby like she wasn’t even there. If someone happens to speak to her she usually takes some time to process that someone asked her attention and she needs to figure out how to reply. She doesn’t see reason to have friends and she has very negative attitude towards romantic couples expecting them to divorce as soon as they have gotten what they want from the other. She though feels lonely time to time but her imagination being way more important than other dragons and especially herself she doesn’t bother looking for friends knowing she could not hold friendships they ending as soon as the connective thing is gone, if there even was anything connecting them. She does help if someone asks and often suggests asking help from anyone if someone needs it but she is almost dead set she herself should not bother others and should deal with her own problems herself.

Though not liking dragon company Finlande doesn’t mind having pets as they don’t judge her or others based on how well they fit into the norm. She has a pet winter wolf Wolffi she named after the wolf she met in the realm and she got her in honor of her. Wolffi is almost completely mute whining and barking extremely rarely believing in ”silence is golden” mentality like Finlande. She though is smart understanding speech with no problems and is even able to read. She was always with Finlande comforting her when her self-esteem problems got past her wall of imagination. For Finlande Wolffi is more important than her own health or life and if in life-threatening situation she would make sure the wolf was alright before even considering her own state. Finlande later got a charming swan as lovebirds day gift from Richard who she named Suometra after a dragon she met in the realm. Suometra is even more silent than Wolffi but is more positive she often smiling unlike her two other companions. Though she makes Finlande feel awkward she cares about the bird and puts her before herself in everything. Like Wolffi she can't talk but understands speech well enough. The two were left behind when Finlande was kidnapped and they have been separated ever since.

Finlande is a water dragon and naturally can swim and dive but only decently taking into count that water is her natural element. Her skills with water magic are also lacking she being able to shoot bolts of water when panicking to protect herself but in other situations it is unlikely for her to be able to do that. She also is outstanding skydancer being unable to read any energies around her. She hasn’t really practiced with water magic or her energy reading but instead has spent her time mostly drawing, reading and writing and is decent drawer and writer thanks to that. She is also critical thinker and understands things decently when she bothers. However, due to her inability to form opinions her notions tend to go to waste.

Finlande has been gifted an ability to pass through so called fourth wall using her sword to cut portals into the space itself. The portals are short-lived collapsing in ten seconds and they don’t allow anyone but her go through. Beyond the wall, in the place she calls the realm, she can interact with others with similar gift and talk how things are going in their worlds but she can’t enter them. She can't talk with the voice of the being that controls events in the clan and the being's messages are delivered to her through Finlande's namesake. Thanks to those she knows most of the time what is going to happen in the clan but stays silent about that she being unable to change anything. She returns to her own world the same way she entered the realm the return portal being in same place as when she entered the realm.
