Weirdsa is among the friendlier spirits of the wood. He appeared one night to help a research group that was having a problem with an angry wood returnee and has occasionally been spotted here and there ever since. He keeps an eye on his environment and either helps lost ones to find a way or defends the unfortunate ones against other forces. Though being quite chatty and open spirit willing to come offer company with or without a summoning spell his origin is unknown. There are few theories but Weirdsa refuses to give his take on any of them and he refuses to answer to questions regarding his past as well. Weirdsa possesses hypnotic powers and because of that he is often compared to Nagabaro who likewise excels at mind affecting magic. Dominant theories claim that the two are related somehow, either they are brothers, father and son or grandfather and grandson, and the fact that Weirdsa seems to know the small spirit does little to hold those theories down. For his origin theories range from Nagabaro reviving the spirit of his relative to that relative coming back because of what Nagabaro has been doing post-death. Unlike the small mind seizer, who is very eager to take over minds of others, Weirdsa is actually quite safe to interact with as he either can’t or doesn’t want to overtake those with who he interacts with. Instead he uses his hypnotic powers to calm down others and he can also use them to open potential mental locks someone might have. Though sounding nice it is not known if Weirdsa uses his powers only for altruistic reasons. Hypnotized creatures are generally more open about everything and Weirdsa could use that to gather sensitive information. Some also suspect his friendly exterior is just a mask and that he is actually quite malicious considering how he has been looking for the dragon with dimensional key. Nothing though is sure as he refuses to disclose his motives. Weirdsa is generally pacifistic dragon who is very hard to provoke. If the situation seems to be getting hostile he uses his powers to keep it from escalating further after which he usually tries to act as mediator of sorts. However, if he is unable to calm the situation down, he has no issues with using claws instead. He generally prefers fighting defensive in order to restrain the troublemaker, but if needing to defend someone, especially someone small or young towards which he has a soft spot, he will fight offensive and he won’t stop until the threat is no more. He doesn’t like killing and “getting rid” of a threat usually means either making it run away or beating it down to the point it can’t cause harm for some time. Weirdsa has some healing powers and he may close wounds of his opponent if he deems it safe. If not, then he just leaves them there to take care of themselves. That can happen to those who managed to really anger him too. One should not harm hatchlings or other kinds of kids when Weirdsa is near, he will not forgive that. |
Name origin: Named after one of Finlandia's characters from one of her stories. Name comes from fictional language and doesn't have clear translation at the moment.
