Biography

Richard hatched in a clan acting as school to pursue higher understanding of the cosmos. He was the youngest out of his siblings having three older brothers yet he was the first one to leave. He took interest in poetry early on but struggled with his creativity feeling like needing to expand his horizon. His mother was from a support group working within the Isles and it being the month of the group she paid them a visit taking all of her sons with her.

Richard was excited to see outside world and wished to be inspired by the journey. He met many new dragons including his mother's siblings one of whom was Milla. Richard was interested about the wood she said her home clan lived in he having not heard of it before. After talking with her for some time Richard decided to move there getting acceptance from both his aunt and mother. He prepared for the move and let Milla lead him to his new home few nights later having become old enough to leave.

The Dream Wood, forgotten cousin of his original home Starwood, inspired Richard and he spent his first nights in the library befriending Hanako in there. After having his inspiration depleted she gave him books to refill it but eventually he had read through all of the ones giving him ideas. Enjoying to describe the world through poems he felt frustrated not having anything to describe. Hanako noticing that suggested him to pay a visit to clan's previous home in the Starwood and feeling like needing some fresh air he decided to do that.

The journey was easy thanks to portals connecting the two lairs. The older lair was deserted having two residents according to Hanako yet Richard saw none almost missing Midnight lying still near the Imaginarium. Hanako had told to meet her and Richard tried to get her attention but the snapper didn't seem to notice him. He was about leave when Abele appeared asking what he was doing there. Richard told what Hanako had told him to do and after watching him coldly Abele asked Midnight to tell how the clan was formed before leaving without a word.

Midnight didn't seem to react but Richard was sure Abele would not have said anything if she wouldn't reply so he stayed there waiting. Eventually, after a long time the snapper opened her mouth and started to tell a story and after it ended he noticed it having been about what Abele had asked her to tell. The story gave him some ideas and after writing them down he asked her to tell him more realizing he should have asked first and write while she prepared for her story. After few more tales Richard decided he had gotten enough ideas and returned to the main lair.

Richard spent the following night writing hoping to do as much as possible before he ran out of ideas again. It was about to happen again and not wanting to let his idea bank run dry he decided to visit Midnight again. While he was making his way towards the gate he heard Siren singing. He usually ignored that but this time he noticed her song sounded familiar. It took quite long time for him to realize why that was the case: it was one of the poems he had written.

After Siren had done singing Richard decided to have a chat with the coatl. As far as he knew he had not made his poems public and asked where she had found them. She said someone specific had told where he had left them. Richard knew he was not the most precise dragon around and it was totally possible he had forgotten some of his poems somewhere. Still, he had not expected anyone to actually read them let alone sing them in public.

Siren seemed to be unbothered by Richard's long thinking session continuing their conversation like there had been no pause. She said his poems were great and that he should consider turning his poems into songs. Richard had not thought about that though he had thought about trying to play piano and other instruments for fun. He decided to think about what Siren had said and visited Midnight asking her to tell story about a composer wondering if the rumors of she being able to tell stories from future were true.

Few nights later Richard got enough courage to try his hand with an unused piano in one of the temple rooms. He had tried to pick the time when most of the residents were outside the lair gathering food not wanting to get audience to witness his first attempt. He though was aware that if there were dragons not attending gathering they were in the temple and tried to ignore that thought when he pressed the first keys.

Upon having played a short melody, that didn't sound that bad for a first timer, he turned around to see if anyone had sneaked to listen him. Everything was quiet and he decided to try composing something simple. As he played the keys the flow took control of him and the surrounding world seemed to disappear. He wasn't sure how long he had played when what he thought was someone crying somewhere close caught him off-guard. He stopped playing wanting to see who was crying and why but upon getting to the door he saw no one nor did he hear anyone. There though was a notebook on the floor full of simple images. Whoever had been there had clearly dropped it as they had escaped. He left the notebook on the ground and decided to stop for the night leaving the room wondering if the mystery dragon had cried because of his playing and if that was a good or bad thing.

Richard didn't hear anyone crying after that while he continued honing his composer skills. He was a bit anxious when the architect couple came to talk with him about him having his own music room in the new temple they were planning. He was happy that he was noticed so soon but he was also scared that he was noticed when he was just a novice. He tried to think what he would need in the future and gave feedback to architects according to that.

The clan was about to start working with the new temple when new space creatures wandered to the dragon world Richard finding them inspiring for both poems and music. Soon after their arrival though every familiar in the lair suddenly got hostile for no clear reason Richard losing his two companions because of that. Trying to cope with that Richard spent his time with the piano and papers making poems and music some of the clan mates finding them comforting in the situation. Richard was a bit anxious with that many dragons coming to listen his simple strings of sound but at the same time he wondered if any of the dragons visiting was the crying dragon.

Things in the lair were just getting worse with the threat of a war with a plague clan and Richard really wanted to visit Midnight to have her stories calm him but the gate connecting the lairs was sealed. Not being able to get to the Starwood Richard made his way to Milla and Afrodite to talk with them about the situation. He was considering leaving the clan due to tense atmosphere and hostile familiars but he really couldn't leave his companions one of them having been with him since he was just a hatchling. The females understood him and told many in the clan were feeling like that right now. They suggested him to hang in there till the annual House Cup hoping things would get better around that time and think again once it was over.

Things weren't really getting better as the House Cup approached but the leaders managed to get rid of the looming threat of the war. However, after the House Cup was over the leaders disappeared being followed by an earthquake few evenings later. Richard had been out in the open trying to figure out where the leaders had gone when that happened and was very confused when the earth rose around the lair the trees at the very top preventing anyone from getting out. The atmosphere was already filled with fear to the point it was hard to breath when the dragons behind all of that declared to summon the Shade in few days.

Following that declaration the clan was awful place to live in with no way to get out. Shadow and Sapny turned Milla into a monster as a warning to the residents Richard fearing to be on the list due to his relationship with her. In absence of the leaders three dragons rose to keep the clan somewhat in order Richard finding himself among Kupari's followers the priestess' presence being calming in that situation.

The summoning day came Richard being near the center of the lair mentally preparing to whatever was to come. He though was not prepared to what actually came the leaders bringing reinforcements to the lair as the Sun was eclipsed and a wyvern appeared out of nowhere Their power forcing Richard to bow. They asked him to submit to Them which he was not going to do and ended up battling nearby dragons because of that most of them being unfamiliar to him.

Richard was freed from the wyvern's control when two spirits came to stop Them he not being too badly hurt. Other dragons were freed too and they used the sudden turn of events to attack and capture the four summoners. Richard decided to join targeting Shadow for what she did to Milla focusing mostly in distracting he not knowing any useful spells. After a dive he had flied away to strike again but upon turning he saw a magic blast coming right to him and unable to dodge everything disappeared as the hit landed.

Richard later woke up in the healing offices that were very busy for clan's standards. The familiars had gotten back to normal Richard's pangolin sleeping next to him while the mimic was probably somewhere else. A random healer told that he had been an eagle before asking how he felt they being clearly very busy. Richard said he was fine, just a little confused, and the healer moved to check the next dragon.

Trying to clear his thoughts Richard glanced to the busy hallway and noticed a white skydancer walking by. Dragon herself wasn't interesting but Richard managed to see her carrying the notebook which seemed to be the same one he had found almost months ago. Wanting to know if she was the dragon he got up and tried to fly to the door. He was a bit dizzy and ended up rolling to the door. When he finally got to the door the dragon had vanished to the massive crowd and Richard was put back to the bed and forbidden to get up before a good nap.

After a nap Richard was allowed to leave the offices. He really wanted to find the skydancer but helping to get the clan back to its feet was more important and Richard decided to join a hunting group to make sure the clan stayed fed. That continued for few nights the life slowly getting back to normal with missing dragons being found and gotten back to normal and hurt dragons healing and getting back to their jobs.

Once everything started to get to normal Richard found Azul, the dragon to know all the clan mates. She was also the messenger in the clan and had been busy past few nights due to that. She seemed exhausted and Richard felt bad for bothering her but he still had to ask who the skydancer was. She had not worn any emblems which made him think she was local. Azul took her time in her tired state eventually guessing he was looking for Finlande. She told the skydancer usually avoided public places and stayed somewhere near the edge of the lair usually found on the unused step.

Richard thanked Azul and left her to rest but soon ran into a problem. The unused step was at the edge of the lair, also known as that zone that got lifted as the wall some time ago meaning it basically no longer existed. Frustrated by that realization Richard somehow managed to turn himself into an eagle almost giving himself a heart attack. He managed to turn back to normal without problems but he decided to spend few more nights in healing offices to see if the transformation was side effect of being turned into an eagle or if someone had cursed him.

Replicating the transformation turned out to be harder than what the first time had been. He eventually managed to do that with help from his cousin Idaea who also had learned to transform after being transformed against her will. After doing that few more times he realized he could use his eagle form to scout the lair for Finlande the eagle body fitting for that better than what the spiral form did with its flight pattern. He took flight it somehow feeling very natural despite the four missing wings. As he flied above the trees he focused on finding anyone white the color both standing out in the night and being rather rare among residents overall. He eventually found who he was looking for near the north edge and attempted to land next to her.

Landing could have been a lot better he managing to scare both Finlande and her wolf the first one almost panicking. Richard rushed to apologize giving her such a fright and asked if he had found the right dragon. Finlande was seemingly so scared she was crying but she managed to nod hiding her face under the hood and rising her wings to cover that. Her wolf was half growling half squeaking.

Richard felt bad for the skydancer and waited her to calm down before asking what he wanted to know. Once she revealed her face the tears starting to dry he once again apologized and asked if she had been the dragon who cried behind the door weeks ago. She was fast to deny but the way she replied made Richard believe it was a white lie. He said there was nothing wrong with crying and said he was just worried. After a long silence Finlande said that she was a bit of cry baby Richard not really being able to tell if she was annoyed or angry and to who.

Richard told that there was nothing wrong with crying and especially with crying more than others. He though noticed the skydancer not really wanted to talk about that and asked what had made her cry back then. She had hard time remembering but she said that she had vivid imagination and the tune probably created some sad scenes in her head and nothing worse. After that they both were silent until Richard asked what kind of scenes she usually thought. She told having many imagination worlds in where she spent most of her time creating stories. Richard was sure he could find her stories inspiring and asked her to show them some time. After a long pause she nodded and Richard decided to leave her be and flied to the healing offices to check how Milla was doing.

After the encounter Richard and Finlande met sparingly due to both preferring solitude. If they happened to meet it was usually on the way to the cafeteria. The skydancer wasn’t that open about her stories but told about them if Richard happened to ask. The poet assumed Finlande to be just a normal dragon but that changed one evening after that year’s mimic night. Richard had found her panicking on his way to the cafeteria and reason for that was that Dio had stolen the sword she carried. The sword was not just a weapon, apparently it was a key between different worlds, and Nagabaro, a spirit with mind controlling powers, had hypnotized the obelisk to get the artifact. It was not the first time the spirit had done something like that, when he had appeared he had hypnotized Purukumi to test the clan, this time just was way worse than the first.

Apparently some dragons had counterparts in another worlds and Nagabaro’s experiments with the sword caused them to be pulled to the dragon world. Richard, Finlande, Lumi, Marjatta and Dio worked together with their counterparts, namesakes, to get them safely back to their original home while Nagabaro, Ninya and Retsbiert’s namesake tried to stop them. Eventually they succeeded, with one casualty, and after it was over the living dragons returned home swearing to not mention about the incident to anyone while the spirits hid to the wood. Richard felt inspired by the event and another world and he wrote few poems wondering how his namesake was doing.

Richard’s life carried on rather normal excluding the occasional thoughts about his namesake’s world. They didn’t bother or distract him, they were just flashes of curiosity. He channeled this curiosity to his songs and poems imagining what the other world was like, and during the nights the thoughts left him alone he thought about clan’s five guardians and the clan that had worshiped them.

About a month after the Namesake Incident the clan took in some students from plague and Richard couldn’t help but be happy they had not come earlier. He didn’t want to think what the foreigners would have done if they had found signs of the namesakes. Few nights before the students were supposed to leave Svecica brought news that new breed had emerged from the heart of the plague, a two-headed monster called aberration. That caused a lot of fuss in the lair both among the residents and visitors and that started to hinder Richard’s work. His private studio was well soundproofed but he needed some fresh air and that let all the fuss inside.

During the night the visitors were supposed to leave the noise in the lair got unbearable and Richard decided to go to the wood with his familiars to have some peace. That was a mistake on Richard’s part he ending up having an unfortunate encounter with an aberration named Angevil when they had attacked his familiars. He was saved by Lumi who carried badly hurt Richard back home. Once they reached the area between the defense sector and clan they encountered Pinkapi. Richard’s familiars were with her and he knew they had told her what happened. The tundra asked what had happened to Richard he giving the shortest answer. As Lumi carried Richard towards the healing offices more and more dragons came to see him asking the same thing. At first it was Richard who answered but eventually Lumi started to do that she clearly getting annoyed by the same question over and over.

Lumi left Richard with the healer who gave him something to dull the pain and patched him up. He stayed in the healing offices for almost a week after which he was allowed to leave. His wing and arm though were still unusable and until they healed he moved around with a weird automated cart made by clan’s science family while Milla helped him to do stuff. He got back to his work quite soon although until his hand healed Finlande helped him to get his ideas on paper. During that time Richard was able to ask what relationship the namesakes had had the skydancer telling they namesakes were coworkers, basically. Despite of his best efforts she refused to tell what kind of work they did and Richard was left to speculate.

It had been ages since the Namesake Incident and a bit less since Richard got beaten up by Angevil. He had recovered fully, there were barely any signs of the beat-up on him and the few scars he had had had disappeared as his scales had renewed. Since the incident he had been working on a collection of poems, because he had noticed many of his poems shared the theme of “guardian spirits”, and having gotten it finished recently he had had few free nights during which he either flied across the lair or read some books.

That night Richard had decided to fly above the lair. He had just watched as his clan mates did their things below him when he noticed Finlande and Marjatta together talking about something. Richard was pretty sure the two had not interacted since the Namesake Incident and curious he flew closer to hear what the two were talking about. Apparently Marjatta had asked Finlande’s help with retrieving an old magic mirror for her client but it was supposedly in the Weeping Manor in which Pahatar and her gang, who once tried to take over the clan, resided and that was the big issue between the two. Finlande could sneak in but she might be recognized while Marjatta had hatched after the takeover attempt and would not be recognized but she would have harder time with sneaking and blending in.

Richard thought about the situation for a moment. The manor currently housed a dream lab and he agreed Marjatta didn’t really look like a dragon who would try out dream services even if she tried. Finlande though looked like she would try out such services and as smaller breed she could sneak away to dig up the mirror, she though seemed too anxious to try the latter part. No one knew what the mirror did or why the client wanted it, Marjatta guessed it was for research, but if the mirror was magical, they should get it away from Pahatar. Richard watched the two ladies and as he did so he realized he was most suited for sneaking in. He was of smaller breed and he had ability to turn into an eagle which allowed him to camouflage himself. He just might need some help with getting past the potential security and Finlande could provide that. He sided with Marjatta and being outnumbered Finlande joined their little plan.

Sisi got the trio to the southern peak on which the Weeping Manor resided. The pirate though was not the biggest fan of Richard, for some reason, and the journey had been quite unpleasant for him the bogsneak and her pets being quite hostile towards him. Luckily Marjatta seemed to be good friends with the pirate and the obelisk was able to keep the pirate from forcing him to fly after them. Once they reached their destination they stopped on another peak to check the security measures on their target with Sisi’s telescope, which Richard was not allowed to touch, and they noticed there was a guard walking around the massive manor. Richard was sure that was Lydia even though the guard wore a mask that made her look unfamiliar.

The group kept an eye on the guard’s routines. She didn’t seem to have a route she repeated but she always arrived to the front when a ship arrived and that seemed to be the moment to sneak in. No one knew where the mirror was supposed to be but everyone had a feeling it was somewhere in the back part of the manor. Unlike the front part the back seemed unused and if the mirror was still hidden it would most likely be in there, and if it was found it would still make sense to keep it in the hidden part of the manor. The trio decided that Finlande would go in from the front slowly as to keep the guard in the front. Richard would take that opportunity to sneak in from the back and after he found the mirror he would fly above as an eagle to signify Finlande that they had succeeded. After that they would return to Marjatta who would stay on the peak as a backup.

Finlande had flied to the nearest port to hop on a ship while Richard flied above the manor waiting it to arrive. He hoped he was high enough to not be seen by Lydia down below. After the ship came closer and Lydia arrived to check the visitors Richard flew lower and through an open window he happened to see. Once inside he remained as eagle for some time making sure no one was there. The corridor he had landed in was empty and after hearing no one Richard took his dragon form. Though empty and dark the corridor was quite clean and didn’t have that much dust that indicating that the residents visited it occasionally. That meant Richard should get going before someone showed up, and he decided to go farther into the manor hoping the mirror was somewhere in the furthermost wings.

Richard had been going forward for some time before her started to hear some laughter. It was distant, echoey and sounded like coming from a hatchling, he was sure they were ghosts haunting the place. Not really wanting to see if the ghosts were friendly or fiendish he moved forwards faster checking each room he happened to cross in case the mirror was in one of them. It didn’t seem to be in any of them but in one of them he found something quite terrifying. Unlike the other rooms, that were dark, that one had lights on and in there he saw his namesake lying on the ground.

Shocked Richard flew closer to see what the matter was and saw a bite mark on the eagle’s neck. His eyes stared into nothingness and he was not breathing. As Richard tried to wake the other one up a snake slithered away to another room. Richard left the other one to the ground, there was nothing he could do, and followed the snake wanting to take it down before it bit someone else. Another room was more filled than the first one, filled with dragons Richard knew. He was confused and tried to stay collected as the familiar faces greeted him, then a voice started speaking saying it was time for some facts about him. The concept already sounded terrible and it was somehow even worse. The voice, which Richard didn’t see, told everyone all of his secrets and they didn’t seem to like them. In fact, they seemed to loath Richard after they heard what he kept in his closet. They ignored him when he tried to explain himself and another disembodied voice pitied him saying maybe his aunt was a little different.

Richard saw another door and after flying through it he was in Milla’s office she being in there too. After the previous room Richard just wanted some confront but Milla was not giving that. First, she slammed Richard’s face with a book and then she followed that by pulling his ear. Richard was too caught off-guard to hear what she said but he heard someone be amused by the situation followed by someone laughing. Richard recognized the voices as the embodied voices he heard before. He pulled himself free from Milla’s claws and flew to yet another room in which he found his two companions no longer living. Richard was confused how that had happened. He had left the two home so that would not happen. After that things got so bad he could not describe them without his stomach turning upside-down.

Richard was not sure how long the nightmare had haunted him but eventually all the horrifying things disappeared and he was in a dark room with a white creature calling his name. He was tired and scared after all he had just seen and it took him some time to realize the white thing was Finlande asking for his attention. She asked if he had found a mirror, which he had not, and what had happened to him. Richard answered the best he could but his thoughts were a mess and he was feeling light-headed, either because he was hungry or because he had not slept, maybe a bit of both.

The skydancer said they should get going and Richard did his best to get up. He felt like a wet noodle but he got a sudden boost of energy when the two voices asked if he was leaving already. He rushed out of the room to the corridor and collapsed in a space connecting corridors to another. Finlande caught up with him and the two started to talk about how to find the mirror. Richard wanted nothing more than to get out of the building but it had been his idea to go in and he felt like he had to deal with consequences. Before the two were able to come up with a plan Finlande suddenly collapsed and as Richard turned to see the skydancer he saw something glowing at the edge of his vision. He turned to react to it and a spell hit him straight to his face knocking him out.

Richard and Finlande woke up in the room with the residents looking down to them. Though a bit woozy at first Richard woke up fast as Suometar placed her staff on his neck Pahatar doing the same with Finlande. The chatelaine was not happy to find them snooping around and asked what the two wanted Finlande turning to look at Richard. He decided to ask about the mirror the wildclaw asking why they wanted something like that. Richard decided to be honest and told Marjatta’s client was looking for it. It wasn’t smart to be that open but Richard was not in the mood to make up cover stories. After changing few words with her servants Pahatar said that if the mirror was in the manor it was their property and no one else’s. After that Lydia and Halti picked the two up, threw to a nearby room and locked the door.

After the dragons behind the door left Richard went to check the window while Finlande checked the door. The window was locked and Finlande shaking her head meant they couldn’t open the door either, even with her sword. Though having had a magical nap Richard was feeling beyond drained, and he and Finlande cuddled up next to one of the walls he feeling his eyelids getting heavier. Before he though could fall asleep Finlande pointed out that an invisible light was approaching them. Richard saw that too and having already had had enough of ghosts for that visit he hid his head under Finlande’s hood. He hoped he was just going insane but then he started to hear child-like laughing around the room and Finlande’s rising heartbeat told him she heard them too. Either they were both losing it or the ghosts were real.

That was when one of the spirits became visible it walking in the air like nothing. Following it the other spirits in the room became visible too and Finlande lifted her wings to shield the two living dragons. The floating spirit asked the two to not to fear and introduced Herself as Finibe. She had a calming aura and Richard felt his fears vanish as the spirit introduced the others. Girnate came closer to Richard asking if he was the one who happened to encounter Shumi Kai. Richard wasn’t sure and asked if that was the spirit who created the horrifying illusions. Girnate took that as “yes” and checked if the encounter had left any curses on him. The spirit didn’t find anything and asked Richard to give himself some time to recover from what he encountered.

Someone opened the lock on the door and after no one stepped in Vivani, one of the spirits, asked if they should let the living dragons take the mirror. Finibe didn’t remember much about the artifact but She didn’t like it and was more than happy to have it leave the house. The living dragons left their prison and let the spirits lead the way Vivani asking Biu to make less noise. Richard had not listened the conversation but apparently the little one had mentioned about Richard snooping around to Suometar which had led the two being captured. Richard looked the spirit and was fairly sure she was ghost of a literal child who didn’t understand concept of secrets yet.

The spirits led the two to an attic that was clearly not been discovered by the current residents. The mirror was there hidden with other old items Richard wondering if any of them were magical. Finlande looked at the mirror first, as Richard was too scared, and after she seemed to be fine, no possession or anything, Richard decided to hold it too. It was small enough for both of them to hold and carry Richard wondering what mirror was supposed to do. He heard Finlande pulling her sword out it seemingly glowing dimly, something it didn’t do normally. Richard got a bit worried but assured himself the mirror would not cause them any harm as it would be stored far away from the clan.

After getting the mirror it was time to get out of the manor. Sadly, the security had been tightened up after the two had been caught and just flying out was out of question. Biu mentioned the well the residents used but Girnate pointed out that Richard would probably drown if he tried that way, and none of the spirits could enter the well to help. Finlande though, as a water dragon, could probably use it to get out and Richard suggested she took the mirror out while he tried to find another way to freedom. Finlande wasn’t too fond of the idea but the spirits agreed with Richard, and Vivani pointed out the skydancer could inform Marjatta about the situation. Richard couldn’t think of anything the obelisk could do to help him but it was better than nothing.

The well was quite risky considering the residents used it quite often. The spirits though assured it was rarely used during that time of the day and the dragons decided to act before the residents would wake up. The well was very deep and for safe descent Richard would use the bucket to get Finlande to the bottom. He gave the mirror to her and she stepped into the bucket the two wishing each other luck as Richard started to rotate the crank. It took a long time for the bucket to reach the water level, and Richard’s arms were getting tired, but eventually it got lighter and the group took that as a sign that Finlande had gotten out. Richard lifted the bucket back up to not leave any marks after which it was time to find his way out.

Richard could have taken his eagle form and fly out but the spirits were sure the residents would catch him, assuming they didn’t shoot him down, so that was out of question. While they were weighting the options Fenikta came to see them. Vivani explained the situation and after judging Richard the new spirit suggested he tried to sneak out inside a customer’s bag. It was extremely risky but at the moment there was one client of a larger breed, obelisk to be exact, who was about to leave. If Richard was fast, he could hide in her back and have her carry him out. They just had to get to the customer.

Fenikta went her way with Girnate and Richard sneaked closer to the public area with the three other spirits. Vivani went to scout ahead and said that the obelisk did seem like wanting to explore the forbidden part of the manor. If they could attract her there, Richard could sneak into her bag while she was distracted. As a spiral he should be able to coil up in there but he really had to hope the obelisk didn’t notice increase in bag’s weight. Vivani went to open a door for the curious obelisk and Richard hid in one of the rooms while they waited the dragon to arrive.

The client took her time to get where Richard was as she checked every room. Luckily, they were all empty so there was not much reason to explore further. As the obelisk was about to open the door behind which Richard was hiding, the one that was partly open, Biu flew past the obelisk so that she felt the shivers. The obelisk dropped her back as she tried to hold her scream. She saw Biu hide inside a nearby armor display, or saw it move a little in case she didn’t see spirits naturally, and went to investigate. That was Richard’s cue and Vivani rushed him to hide in the bag. He hid under the papers and painting tools and was totally silent as the bag was lifted up. The obelisk didn’t seem to notice anything and walked deeper into the manor.

Richard was starting to get worried if the obelisk was about to get imprisoned when Halti stopped her and escorted back to the lobby. In there she paid for her stay Richard moving the purse closer so she didn’t notice him after which she left. She hopped on a ship and Richard decided to wait a little longer before leaping out. He didn’t want to do it so close to the manor. The ship stopped on a small peak on which the obelisk seemingly decided to jump the ship. Richard wondered if he should sneak out unnoticed or if he should just reveal himself when he heard a familiar voice.

Marjatta flied to the obelisk and asked what the inside of the manor had looked like. The obelisk seemed a bit confused and assuming the mercenary was planning an attack Richard decided to reveal himself. The obelisk seemed to be relieved to see him alright and she asked what happened. Richard gave a short summary before asking where Finlande was. Apparently she had given the mirror to Marjatta and she had let the skydancer go home. That was as much as she knew. That was when Richard noticed Lydia flying towards them and hid back in the bag while Marjatta rushed the obelisk to get on the approaching ship while she held the wildclaw back. The obelisk was clearly confused but said nothing.

Richard stayed hidden until he no longer heard fighting noises. After all he heard was the ship cruising through the waves he asked the obelisk if they were in the clear. They were and Richard lifted his head out of the bag. The smell of paints made breathing in there hard. The obelisk asked if she should know something Richard saying it was a long story and she shouldn’t bother herself with that. The obelisk decided to change the topic and introduced herself as Rosamaling Richard too introducing himself.

Rosemaling was a travelling artist and the two got along quite nicely thanks to shared interest in art, even if the forms were different. Richard told the younger dragon about his home and she wanted to visit the wilder cousin of the Starwood, just like Richard had when he was about to grow independent. At one Focal Point ports they changed to a ship that took them to clan’s port. After that Richard led the obelisk through the wood to the clan and showed the way to the inn. After that he left the young one to explore the place on her own and flied to the temple straight to Milla’s office. He was beyond tired and after what he had experienced he wanted to make sure his aunt was still the caring spiral he knew her as. He asked if she was fine with him sleeping with her which she was. She took care of her tired nephew and though she was worried she didn’t force Richard to tell what happened. He really didn’t want to remember.

Traits

Richard is an arcane spiral with dark blue body having metallic sheen and shimmering pale purplish pink wings. His horns, legs and arms are dark due to a magic being stored in them and sometimes there are very dim sparkles of magic seem flying away from them. His sides have similar dark magic being in shapes of runes stuck to spell what he wrote when his flow state ended. When writing and entering flow state the dark areas start to glow dim cyan and the runes start to change as the writing goes on. It is possible that when in flow the magic radiating from his legs and horns creates a temporary illusion of what he is writing around him but it changes fast and vanishes even faster. Richard is known for his pointy snout that looks a bit like bird peak but isn't sharp enough to be called that. His horns turn to meet each other and their tips point slightly downwards and his tail tip is shaped like a feather having three spines leading towards it. With age he even has started to have pale grey, almost white, hairs with dark bluish gray tips growing on his eyes and under his jaw creating eyebrows and small beard. His eyes are common pink in color.

Richard is a poet and wears a blue and white soft canvas coat with large pocket to hold his poem notebooks and other papers. On his head he has a blue beret decorated with a single eagle feather which he uses to write. He has blue glasses that have been enchanted to allow him to write in very low lighting and he has used some tincture on them to keep them from fogging over and to protect them from scratches. He carries a blue lantern near the tail tip just in case he happens to need some extra light. He has a blue scarf around his neck but it is less to keep him warm and more to be used to wipe any kind of moisture from everywhere, most commonly sweat off his forehead after a writing sprint. On his legs he is wearing two mostly blue spats on top of each other to keep his toes and ankles warm when playing piano the pedestals often being somewhat cold. On his right arm he has a ring with a cyan gem that glows during night and Richard uses it to check if it is time to go to bed.

Richard has soft and deep voice that is always full of kindness despite his speech very clearly telling that he isn't really listening. Being a poet and having love for poetic expressions he tends to speak very poetic matter and it isn't unheard of him to use words and idioms from 1800s. He is though clear with his speech and speaks directly if there is a need. He has hard to describe accent that sound like a mix of Norwegian and British with a hint of German.

Richard is a kind dragon with passion for poetry and music, though he has been struggling with art after losing his muse. He wants to understand world from all the possible perspectives and because of that he tries to see it through symbols and metaphors. He avoids being judging and observers new things and situations calmly before making his mind about them. He dislikes predetermined roles and looks down everyone who demand others to behave certain way or do something because of their gender, breed or element. He though isn't usually direct with that and tends to be more passive-aggressive. He doesn't get mad easily and if he starts being direct and refuses to back down it is the sign that his patience is reaching its limit. He though is unlikely to hit as he sees aggression as the absolute last resort. For him words are stronger than what claws will ever be.

Enjoying doing his poems in peace Richard is rarely seen with other dragons. He though is sympathetic and willing to listen and help if anyone ever needs anything. With his closest dragons he is even ready to stand up for them in a large group which he usually tends to avoid. He tends to prefer smaller groups where he can see and give attention to everyone without fearing having accidentally ignored someone. Though not minding being ignored himself he doesn't want anyone to be ignored against their will and when in group he tries to see those ones and give them company they might need.

Richard has two familiars, an inscribed pangolin Begro and a ghosthost viola Poerty. Begro has been with Richard since he left his original home and though he can't speak he understands dragon speech without problems and can even read. He doesn't usually ask attention from Richard but is happy to give feedback when Richard asks that the best he could with being mute. Poerty started hanging out with Richard soon after he started playing piano. Like Begro it can't speak but unlike Begro it can understand speech only some degree and there is no talking about it being able to read. Poerty is more attention seeking than Begro and if it gets despaired it is going to make some noise. Begro has way more issues with that than Richard has who is able to ignore it and even if it happens to interfere with his work he can stand it. Its musical gifts are great when making songs. Along with his own familiars Richard is also taking care of Finlande's wolf and swan.

Richard's magical abilities are tied to his poetic skills. He is able to lift items, mostly papers, with magic and he can erase ink from paper with similar way. He is also able to create an illusion world of his writings around him though only temporarily. It usually happens when he reaches flow states with his writings and he has very little control over that gift. It is near impossible for him to make that happen when he is not in flow and he can't control what the illusion ends up showing.

After the summoning incident Richard learned to turn into a bluish grey eagle. After unlocking it by accident the transformation has became harder to pull off he needing to focus fully to trigger it. After transforming, however, Richard has no issues in staying in that form how long he ever wants and he can control the new body without issues. Turning back into the dragon is easy in itself but he usually ends up tripping due to sudden change in body length and number of wings.

Richard is rather skillful poet but it being subjectively rated art his skill level varies depending on who is asked to rate his poems. He isn't musically as experienced as with poems but he is rather skillful musician. He can play piano and little bit of violin and he has thought about learning to play some kind of flute. He isn't extraordinary when it comes to his skills but due to being able to play more than one instrument he is considered the most skillful musician in the clan. His singing skills though are lacking.
