Biography

Obsidius hatched in a wind clan residing in Reedcleft Ascent but as a guardian he did not stay there very long. Upon learning to fly, which happened fast due to his element, he started his Search and flied from the Plateau to the nearest domain, Scarred Wasteland. Soon after arriving Obsidius continued his way towards the center of the Wasteland curious of what was in there.

He soon met with a plague spiral Breeze when he dropped spiders on him while he had stopped to rest. Obsidius didn’t react like Breeze had hoped but he was quite amused by noodle’s attempt to first scare him and then trick him into thinking a spider king tried to eat him. The two talked for a moment Breeze telling he was going to the Starfall Isle to get some explosive powder he had heard the arcane dragons made and upon hearing there was nothing interesting inland Obsidius decided to join the small dragon.

Obsidius and Breeze walked through the Starwood Strand and upon reaching Crystalspine Reaches they took flight in order to reach the Focal Point and eventually the Observatory. The distance though was long and the weather was misty which caused Obsidius to fly off course. Once the Sun set the two decided to stop and started to look for a place to rest. Obsidius soared over the crystal peaks when Breeze noticed dragons on one of them and they landed to meet them hoping to get shelter.

They were welcomed by a small family of dragons, mostly arcane faes with one mirror and an older polite but clearly proud light pearlcatcher acting as their leader. Breeze too noticed that the pearlcatcher, named Benizakura, was full of himself and pointed out that pranking him would be fun. Obsidius agreed that would be great but he wanted to check if he actually was that proud or if he was just acting. While Benizakura was arguing with arcane dragons of the lair Obsidius and Breeze took a look at the lair and came across an ice tundra still smelling like southern wind. Obsidius asked Kaamos the tundra if Benizakura arguing loudly with two faes was a "proudcatcher" he noticing Kaamos' fear and after he told that to be the case Obsidius nudged him to cheer him up.

Obsidius and Breeze decided to stay with the clan after Breeze came to conclusion he didn’t need the powder. The two spent the first night and day together getting used to the clan’s sleeping rhythm. Some time after Benizakura had found a bedding of fresh berry juice Aqua came to visit them showing her approval to Breeze’s prank and Obsidius’ followup. Obsidius agreed Benizakura’s reaction had been priceless when he had come to tell him not to be so steamed. Aqua explained that Benizakura was adopted son of their father who took care of them now that their father had other things to do though no one liked how he had named himself as the leader and that she liked to tease him because of that.

Aqua became close friend with Obsidius and Breeze as they teased Benizakura. As they started to know the clan better new boys noticed that Aqua’s siblings were kind of full of themselves as well and were quite bossy. That though didn’t bother Obsidius who enjoyed being oblivious to them. As time went on pranking became more of Breeze’s job while Obsidius and Aqua’s jokes turned into acting stupid towards bossy ones finding their frustration funny. Over time the two became very close and had three eggs.

None of the hatchlings shared their parents’ jolly nature but they were not that bothered by that difference except the youngest of them, Morgana. She believed strongly that dragons should be though and serious showing no emotions and her jovial parents were polar opposite of that. She demanded them both to be more serious as they made her feel embarrassed. Both Obsidius and Aqua were confused by their daughter’s behavior especially when she demanded ”perfect” behavior through using violence.

Breeze saw all that and started to make pranks for Morgana redirecting her attention away from Obsidius. Obsidius was worried for his friend having witnessed Morgana hitting Aqua after she had tried to make her relax and Obsidius had gotten from her claws when he had come to help Aqua. Breeze though assured he’d be safe thanks to his small size and agility. Obsidius was grateful for the offer but that didn’t help much after Aqua told she’d move to the Observatory to not need to interact with Morgana anymore. Obsidius was ready to come with her but she asked him to look after Morgana and step up if she became too dominant.

Obsidius understood Aqua’s request and decided to stay in the clan for sake of Breeze who was having fun teasing Morgana. He though escorted Aqua to the Observatory to spend some time with her before separating. On his way back home Obsidius saw a mirror on the other side of the peak and he was sure that was Aqua’s father. He had heard of him and even seen glimpses of him but he has assumed he did not live in the lair. Upon landing he sneaked to see closer and saw the mirror lying near a hole way too small for him. He looked like he was sleeping and Obsidius didn’t want to bother him.

Few nights later Obsidius saw the mirror visiting clan’s food storage and upon seeing him picking up some bugs he got curious and followed him. The mirror arrived back to the hole but soon dropped the bugs and started flying away from the Peak. Obsidius followed him avoiding to fly too fast and soon noticed the mirror following a smaller dragon, most likely a fae. He followed them to the Woodland Path where he soon lost sight of smaller dragons. He though heard them and found them again when the mirror and a fae were arguing while battling a family of dryads.

They seemed to be in trouble and Obsidius decided to step in and scared the dryad family away just by showing himself. Once the dryads had disappeared into the wood Obsidius turned to check his fellow dragons. They seemed to be alright the mirror, Alfa, introducing himself and the fae, Nemo, and explained what had happened. He kept the explanation short but Obsidius was able to understand that they were acting against the beastclans that attacked Nemo’s family.

Not having much to do after Aqua left and doubting Breeze needed full time guarding Obsidius asked to join the two arcane dragons seeing how they seemed to need someone to look after them. Alfa thought that was a good idea and while heading back home they decided where they should meet before the next raid and Alfa told Obsidius to not mention Nemo or what they were doing to anyone. Obsidius promised to do that.

Upon returning to the lair Morgana was expecting him and demanded to know where he had been. Even though he didn’t like to lie Obsidius told he had been satisfying his wind dragon instincts trying to ignore Morgana’s painted face. Breeze waved his hand to Obsidius as Morgana spoke about duty over fun but that didn’t interest him when he noticed Benizakura being oddly absent. Breeze told Obsidius having seen him earlier so the guardian didn’t bother worrying about the pearlcatcher.

Afternoons later Benizakura, who had just been taking a break the other night, called a meeting which everyone found a bit odd. Things turned even weirder when he told the rest of the clan that he had decided to step down and retire from the clan for time being. At first Obsidius didn’t believe what Benizakura said was true and soon he hoped that he had just been joking. Benizakura indeed stepped down and moved to a nearby peak leaving clan in chaos as others tried to take the leadership.

Obsidius found that very tiring and to avoid being caught by the power struggle he took long flights or joined Alfa when he came to get something to eat or just tried to think what his charge could be. Because everyone was busy keeping an eye on each other Obsidius had relatively easy time sneaking out when it came to time to raid. He often carried the two arcane dragons and was usually the one to suggest their next target based on what he heard during his flights. In battles Obsidius kept an eye on Alfa often placing his body to act as a shield for the mirror and moving away to let him attack. Nemo was rarely seen other than occasional healing spells and magical bolts and often Obsidius felt like it was just him and Alfa.

They did raids regularly always planning and meeting on a different peak Obsidius making sure they avoided Benizakura’s peak. Outside the raid battles Obsidius met Alfa every now and then though he was often busy with Nemo doing something. Obsidius still appreciated to have someone to change few careless words with in the middle of clan’s tense atmosphere and someone he could consider as a friend when Breeze was having his own ”missions”.

As time went on Obsidius noticed he got worried about Alfa every time they were not in contact. He knew he was just the other side of the Peak but he didn’t see there and both beastclans, especially marens and talonoks, and nature could hit him. Why that had started to worry him bothered Obsidius but after the following raid battle against serthis in the Sandswept Delta he noticed why. Due to the lack of trees and pushes Nemo was much more visible during battles but Obsidius always prioritized Alfa over her even when the size difference said otherwise. It could have been the fact that Nemo just didn’t like him but Obsidius was sure it was because he had finally found his charge, Alfa.

Small pile of light green petals.

Things in the clan were not getting better but Obsidius having found his charge and meaning in life was able to live in there slightly better than before. Breeze having noticed his friend's somewhat sudden mood change came to ask what had happened sneaking near by filling his bed with snakes and ropes somehow not getting crushed himself while hiding among them. Obsidius was happy to inform him that he had found his charge and was quite surprised when Breeze remembered what that meant to him. He asked who that was but Obsidius was not telling that quite yet and asked the spiral to guess.

Before he though could Morgana came to ask her father’s whereabouts and upon hearing about the charge asked who that was. Obsidius though didn’t saw need to answer when she didn’t even understand value of charge in a first place. He watched as she walked away to check the loot he had been bringing while others were busy with each other struggling to contain her aggravation. She though didn’t ask anything and Obsidius was relieved. Upon meeting Alfa at the Hoard Obsidius told him about his discovery making sure Morgana didn’t see him while keeping a cold eye on him to figure out who his charge was.

Morgana didn’t seem to trust Obsidius and he had to ask help from Breeze to be able to sneak out without her noticing. He felt bad for bothering his friend with his problems but Breeze seemed to be happy to have an extra reason to troll Morgana. Sneaking in was oddly easier as Morgana was often arguing with whoever it was that night but if that wasn’t the case she made landing really hard. She made Obsidius’ life very hard and he was barely able to help Aqua’s younger sister, Nightsky, to move to the Observatory with Morgana blaming him for slacking of.

One morning after having been flying due to constant arguing in the clan Obsidius returned to the Peak and was surprised to be waited by Karmiini. She was also serious but not as control freak as Morgana and spent her time doing something else than arguing. She asked where he had been and showed understanding when Obsidius told having been taking a break. She didn’t hesitate and went straight to why she was waiting for him. After asking how much a big wind guardian like him could carry at once she told that the Observatory had ordered the clan to move to the Starwood Strand as the Peak was becoming too small. Obsidius understood what she wanted and promised to help the clan if Morgana didn’t drive him out before that.

During the next raid Obsidius told the news to his companions. He wasn’t sure if the arcane dragons cared about that as they didn’t interact with the rest of the clan that much and wanted to know where he should stay after the move was over. Fortunately Alfa was willing to move with the clan and actually came to help with moving. Obsidius was rather scared because of that and it didn’t help when Morgana gave a freezing look towards Alfa upon seeing him. Throughout the move Morgana leered towards Alfa and Obsidius noticed being very ready to hit her if she came too close. Alfa didn’t seem to notice Morgana and was mildly confused of why Obsidius didn’t let him be alone for a single moment but didn’t really complain.

Obsidius and Alfa were able to avoid conflicts during the move, even when everyone gave a cold eye to Alfa, and they settled down in the Starwood Wood safely. Very soon after that Alfa found a new nest to guard and though Obsidius didn’t like the idea of letting him be alone he doubted Nemo, who was probably in the nest, wanted him there. He may not have been right next to Alfa but Obsidius kept looking after him especially now that the atmosphere in the clan was very tense.

Not long after the move the clan received two guests, young dragons exploring the continent. Obsidius came immediately along with a lightning snapper Parcha who had nice sense of humor. The other, Tinker, however made Obsidius very nervous. Like Morgana the shadow ridgeback was serious and cold dragon and Obsidius smelled troubles when she clearly got along with his daughter.

It didn’t took long before Tinker filled the power vacuum even managing to make the stubborn ones do work. Obsidius was worried about Breeze but that had to wait after he noticed Tinker noticing Alfa. He followed the rest of the clan as they followed Tinker who approached Alfa and Obsidius regretted having been so far away from his charge. Tinker started to question Alfa as Obsidius moved somewhere he could see both dragons and be near enough to maybe act.

As Tinker asked Alfa questions Obsidius noticed him glancing to him. He couldn’t read his eyes and just shook his head. Tinker started to lecture Alfa and Obsidius noticed getting ready to leap to charge forth. Alfa turned his eyes to the ground when Tinker all of a sudden scooped the ground near him and Obsidius stopped himself from jumping there. He met Morgana’s eyes who having noticed what he had almost done raised her jaw sardonically. Obsidius released his claws from the ground and straightened up before others noticed.

Tinker let Nemo go she flying to the wood while Tinker and rest of the clan turned around leaving only Obsidius and Alfa. Obsidius walked to check his charge who asked why he had never told what was going on in the clan. Obsidius sat next to the mirror covering the confused dragon with his wing before answering that he had not seem interested about his clan.

After the incident Alfa started to work hard to find his place in the clan and Obsidius stayed by his side. When trying to get to know his clan mates Obsidius usually went to spend time either with Breeze or Parcha as Alfa had asked to do those alone but he always made sure he knew what was going on. When it came to gatherings they always went together. After Alfa managed to solve things between him and Benizakura he started to gain some trust with other dragons as well and though Obsidius felt more at ease because of that he still kept a close eye on both Morgana and Tinker who both looked down to them. Alfa had noticed that too and after weeks of attending gatherings they decided to continue raids in hopes of bringing something good to the clan, and to have a moment without the strict ladies staring at them.

Later Kaamos’ son Nova was made clan’s arcane ambassador and out of all dragons Morgana had an idea of building an observatory to celebrate that. The rest of the clan liked the idea, which was rare, and Morgana and Tinker took the lead of the project while Obsidius and Alfa took the job to deliver materials. That was easy decision with Obsidius being a wind guardian and thus capable of carrying large cargo while Alfa wanted to focus in foreign policy. If not getting materials they were gathering food while rest of the clan was busy.

Eventually the observatory was finished without major accidents and for Obsidius only worry was Alfa dealing with a dragon that almost hit him with a hammer. After the project was done life carried on peacefully but Obsidius felt tension rising after Abele found some weapons hidden inside a tree. Obsidius nor Alfa had brought them as loot and the clan held a meeting to figure out where they had come from. The meeting though was cut short when a small fae Witchi came forth and told there was a takeover being planned and even told who were doing that.

Obsidius stood up noticing Tinker give Alfa a cold look while asking more information from the accused. They denied but Obsidius feeling things very wrong joined Tinker along with Alfa and Morgana. Things escalated fast once one of the accused attacked Tinker and while the ridgeback took care of her enemies Obsidius noticed few tundras, who had been accused, coming towards Alfa and knocked out all of them with a single swing of his head. The battle was over as soon as it had started but Obsidius kept his guard up not liking the way Tinker watched them.

The clan held a trial against those who had planned the takeover as soon as possible. During the trial Obsidius sat so that Alfa was under his arm staring throughout the prosecution Morgana who was doing the same. Because of their staring contest Obsidius didn’t pay attention to what was said and turned his eyes away from Morgana when Alfa and Tinker started to talk about something. What Obsidius was able get was that Alfa wanted to escort the guilty to the Observatory but Tinker didn’t let him do that. Morgana took that job instead and though Obsidius was happy to avoid arguing he did not like the face she gave him.

Tension was high between Tinker and Alfa the following nights and Obsidius stayed close to his charge in case of the shadow dragon getting any twisted ideas. When in the vicinity of either Tinker or Morgana Obsidius kept a close eye on them allowing Alfa to rest in peace. Alfa was rather bothered by Obsidius’ seriousness but they didn’t talk much about that or anything else.

One night while Obsidius was struggling to stay awake after many sleepless days he woke to notice Alfa was gone. He stood up and started to search for him finding him walking from Tinker. He immediately asked if he was alright and Alfa told he had been talking with Tinker by his own choice like he had not just scared the heck out of Obsidius a moment ago. He told Obsidius that things were alright and asked him to rest for real. He said that as an order and Obsidius couldn’t do other than obey. The tension started to settle down with the following nights and Obsidius was able to lower his guard a little bit.

Small pile of light green petals.

Things were rather peaceful excluding Tinker and Alfa’s disagreements every now and then but those were soon over and never major. Nothing interesting happened in the clan life and if not raiding Obsidius spent time either with Parcha or Breeze if Alfa didn’t want to be ”babysit” like he put it. First few times were hard for Obsidius but eventually he dared to let go of Alfa knowing he could defend himself long enough if needed.

Nearing the end of the year Nova brought some news from the Observatory telling the clan was getting big enough to move to the Focal Point. Soon after that Obsidius started to see dreams about a wood in there along with rest of the clan and showed his support to his friends when they wanted to move there too. Both Morgana and Tinker were not too fond of the idea so Alfa took the job to get the new home ready. Obsidius followed him helping him clear the lair area, carry items from the old lair and keep his charge safe in the untamed wood.

After Tinker and Morgana finally moved to the new clan among the last dragons Obsidius suggested Alfa to not give back the leadership to them. Alfa though thought Tinker was decent as a leader but at the same time promised to not get bossed by her as he was the founder. Obsidius showed his support to his true leader and promised to make sure the shadow ridgeback wouldn’t threaten him. When the clan noticed they needed a new blacksmith Alfa told he could find them one with his good social skills and Obsidius was ready to accompany him.

Obsidius and Alfa were making their way towards the Ashfall Waste Obsidius keeping an eye on Alfa flying in front of him. While reaching the coast of the Starwood Strand Obsidius noticed a skydancer waving towards them and dived to meet her Alfa following soon after landing before the guardian. She introduced herself as Afrodite and asked if they knew a place to live in. Obsidius mentioned their home to be clean pretending to not hear Alfa’s words about them being in hurry. He explained the route fast to Afrodite and continued his way towards the fire domain as soon as ending his explanation leaving Alfa confused on the ground to tease him. He reminded Alfa about them being in a hurry once he managed to catch up with him.

They eventually reached the Waste but not wanting to get beaten down by the heat and smoke they followed the coast hoping to find some clans in there. They did find quite a few friendly ones but none of them had spare blacksmith for them. They though gave them hints on where to look and eventually they found one. A young blacksmith trainee Tapio was willing to found his own smithy in the clan after Alfa explained their situation and once they were ready to return home Obsidius carried the bogsneak and his tools.

Upon landing the clan came to meet their new member while Tinker asked to talk with Alfa and only with Alfa. Obsidius was occupied with helping Tapio with his tools but kept an eye on the leaders. They seemed to have rather peaceful conversation which Obsidius found a bit weird but was a bit too tired to be worried about that. After finishing with his task Obsidius joined Alfa with his dinner where he asked about their conversation. Alfa told it was about clan’s name before finishing the meal and taking a rest.

Obsidius learned the details the following night when the clan held a conference where they decided the ones helping with new smithy and what the clan should be named. Obsidius and Alfa both volunteered to the project so no one needed to be forced even though Tinker did that anyway but the highlight of the meeting was the naming competition. There were few throwaway ideas, few heavily pushed ideas and then there were Breeze’s jokes. Obsidius enjoyed how his ideas annoyed those who really wanted their suggestions to win and was amused when it was Breeze’s suggestion ”Polar Sky” that was chosen. Losers were upset by that but Obsidius congratulated his friend openly just to annoy them even more.

After the meeting still tired Alfa wanted to rest while Obsidius was full of energy and decided to take a break from his duties. After having helped a little bit with the smithy he decided to visit Benizakura who was rarely seen nowadays. When he reached his workplace he was greeted by Breeze and an unusual sight of Benizakura chasing after a child very angrily. Breeze explained the situation before Obsidius stepped in and asked the tag players to stop. Utu, an orphan light dragon had joined Breeze’s prank because she was bored and to avoid Benizakura getting too mad Obsidius offered to take her to fly if she returned the ink pot she had stolen as part of the joke. That was enough and Utu joined Obsidius without a second thought.

The following nights Obsidius taught Utu to fly and even took her to the flight trips when not doing raids with Alfa or helping with the smithy or a workshop once that was finished. Utu clearly enjoyed spending time with Obsidius who did the same and Utu started to come meet the guardian when he returned from raids asking where they had been and how it been like. Obsidius liked to answer and just spend time with a young mirror when Alfa didn’t need a company and eventually they had nest full of eggs to be taken care of.

Small pile of light green petals.

Obsidius spent a lot of time in the hatchery not only because of his eggs but also because Alfa too had eggs to look after though Obsidius was not sure who the mother was. Obsidius enjoyed playing with the children, both his and Alfa’s, but after Alfa’s son Julius started to get lost too often he started to focus on finding him even though he found it annoying. After their children were too old to need constant guarding Utu came to talk with Obsidius about her parents. Obsidius helped her to find the dragons who had brought her egg when it had been found and left to look for Julius once again.

Soon after that Utu left the clan to find her parents, Obsidius’ daughter Halloween befriended Breeze and Obsidius joined to build an inn. Some time later Halloween though experienced what Obsidius had feared Breeze would for ages when she scared Abele who responded by impaling one of the mirror’s eyes. Utu not in the clan Obsidius took care of his daughter avoiding Abele knowing talking with her was waste of time. Instead he helped Halloween to learn live without one of her heat sensitive eyes and made sure the injury didn’t get any worse.

Because of Halloween’s condition Obsidius didn’t participate in a conference involving clan’s upcoming temple project but he participated in building it when Utu returned from the Ruins. The project though was interrupted when Alfa’s older daughter Siren went missing with evidences hinting that talonoks had something to do with that. Obsidius stayed close to Alfa helping him look for his daughter and making sure he didn’t try anything reckless. They had not found anything when Kaamos stepped in. He had looked after a slow minded snapper named Midnight and claimed she could maybe tell where Siren was in story form.

Obsidius listened the story with Alfa and Utu and after hearing Siren might have ended in light domain suggested with Utu to go look for her as he was a fast flier. He took Utu on his back and asked Alfa to rest while he was away before speeding up towards the Ruins. When reaching the light domain Utu started to give directions of where the clan Midnight had mentioned was and Obsidius landed near their lair. Utu greeted the clan like they were her old friends while Obsidius scouted the dragons. He soon noticed an arcane fae next to a coatl and after checking she was alright started a flight back to the Isles not wanting to keep Alfa waiting longer than needed.

When reaching the lair Obsidius noticed Alfa had not moved at all since he left and landed next to him letting Siren slide down his wing. Alfa was clearly grateful and while he was checking his daughter Tinker came to see them. She offered to take Siren to see healers, just in case, and suggested Alfa to get some rest. As Alfa walked away Tinker gave Obsidius a look that told him to make sure Alfa actually rested. He followed his charge to his nest and lied nearby to rest himself.

They though had not rested for long when Azul came to wake them up. She told that someone had attacked Alfa’s younger daughter Tropi and before Obsidius was able to get up Alfa was already running towards the healing offices where she was kept. Obsidius arrived to the rooms slightly before Tinker came and heard the news of how Julius had run away. He noticed his charge's anger and stayed silent throughout the meeting. Tinker promised to organize some search groups while Alfa was ordered to go back to rest.

Alfa didn’t want Obsidius to be with him at the moment and understanding his fatigue let the mirror be. Instead he went to check Utu who had been among the first to find Tropi. He though didn’t want to talk about the current incidents and instead asked how her parent hunting was going. She said she had had no luck even when trying to use Midnight’s gift or seers. While listening Obsidius had an idea but there was no time for that right now. Instead he continued speaking about lighter topics and just enjoyed his time with Utu.

Few night later Alfa still didn’t want Obsidius with him but he stayed close by anyway. They were at the Hoard to get something to eat when they felt tension rising. Obsidius and Alfa went to see what had made the clan so tense and saw group of centaurs marching in. They didn’t seem hostile but Obsidius wasn’t sure about that and attempted to follow Alfa when he came to meet them only to be asked to stay behind. He watched silently ready to act if needed but still kept calm stand.

The centaurs were peaceful and eventually left Alfa thanking them for finding his son and asking Tinker to send a spy party after them. After being left alone Obsidius watched as Alfa yelled to Julius he watching in mild fear having never seen him so angry. After that Alfa asked Obsidius to take Julius to the healers and then to the Crystal Cave before marching away not looking back. Obsidius did as ordered showing some sympathy to scared Julius.

He escorted Julius to the cave but guessing he was not wanted in there stayed away from there himself. Eventually Alfa came out and frustrated asked Obsidius to make sure his son didn’t escape second time before leaving not even watching towards his guardian. He was stuck guarding Julius for nights before Tinker came to release both him and Julius. Alfa was still a bit mad and Obsidius didn’t want to bother him. After Julius and Alfa conciliated Obsidius decided to do what he had wanted and went to take Utu. He brought her to Alfa and asked if he as a mirror could help Utu a little bit. Both mirrors were a bit confused by Obsidius’ request but Alfa told about his childhood clan to Utu who then proceed to use that information. Before Obsidius was able to leave Alfa apologized his rude behavior lately. Obsidius was not mad and understood it was all been because of lack of rest.

Small pile of light green petals.

Things were rather calm after that. Some weird things were going on, like winds dying out while Obsidius and Alfa were raiding Golem Workshop making flying near impossible even for Obsidius and then armistice between nature and plague ended and Utu told having seen an emperor in the Ruins which made her stop travelling. Things in the clan were though peaceful and Obsidius had nothing to complain.

Things started to happen in the clan when the smithy collapsed and they needed to make a new one. Problem arises when the clan realized they couldn’t use clan’s funds because the one taking care of them didn’t want to give them. The situation was solved when the one taking care of getting funds for the clan tried to kidnap their clan mate and during the hustle the money keeper tried to escape with clan’s money. Obsidius though was able to take him down with ease.

Next bigger event was when Julius was attacked by a crystal creature who turned out to be one of the clan’s residents. Obsidius was rather confused when Alfa told they didn’t need to look into that but trusted his charge and didn’t complain. Later when one of Alfa’s children came to speak about her worries about the incident a young ridgeback approached Alfa confidently. Blacksnake wanted to lead the clan and believed to be able to do so by beating Alfa in battle.

Mirror watched silently as the young dragon demanded the battle. Obsidius was not worried knowing that Alfa could beat the young one easily. They both listened Blacksnake for a moment before Alfa got up hitting Obsidius’ arm with his tail to ask him to not interfere. He watched as Alfa warmed up by teasing the young dragon with changes of hits before starting to land accurate hits himself finishing with a hold back eliminate to the head winning the battle.

Some time later Blacksnake came to demand rematch when Obsidius and Alfa were planning their next raid. Alfa stood up to take on the now bigger ridgeback but Obsidius stopped him asking to fight in his stead. Obsidius was not as fast as Alfa was and most the battle just took hits from the young dragon barely feeling them. Their battle was closer to wrestling than what Alfa’s battle had been and that was good for Obsidius who outweighed the ridgeback who could barely move him. Eventually Blacksnake started to get mad and tried to use his nose to poke Obsidius eye to then bite him. Obsidius though saw that coming and grabbed his long nose with his jaws. As Blacksnake tried to release himself his nose snapped in half and Obsidius took the opportunity to grab his opponent neck and slam him face first to the ground granting him the victory.

Not long after that Halloween came to tell Obsidius that Breeze had been missing and he got immediately worried. Alfa promised to help them to find the plague spiral and the hints lead to clan’s nature ambassador and a plague hater Glade’s room. Alfa asked the ambassador to let them in but he was not very willing. Obsidius didn’t like the imperial and was also sure he had something to do with Breeze’s situation. He asked him to let them in or he goes in with force. Reluctant Glade let them in and they soon found Breeze in there Obsidius rushing to his friend while Alfa lectured Glade and destroyed his researches.

Alfa and Obsidius left Glade’s office and while Alfa was explaining the situation to the curious Glade attacked Alfa from behind with his nature magic. Obsidius was fast to push the imperial away from his charge who stayed lying on the ground while the guardian battled with the imperial. Eventually Tinker and Morgana came to hold Glade back while Obsidius rushed to check his charge who was being carried to the healers.

Obsidius guarded the room nervous of if his charge was going to survive. Plague ambassador Tahna came to help with the situation and he was able to remove the plants but Alfa didn't wake up yet. Few nights later he woke up and though Obsidius wanted to rush to apologize his failure he didn’t leave his spot seeing Glade not that far off. He listened as Alfa talked with the ambassador about getting Labyrinth’s Ancient Lair involved and after few evenings Alfa left the clan asking Obsidius to look after Glade while he was gone. Obsidius was anything but willing but did what was asked and stayed home.

He was very nervous the whole time Alfa was in the nature domain. He had a nature and a plague dragons with him but that didn’t guaranteed he was safe. Tinker was curious of why Alfa wasn’t in the lair while Obsidius was and asked him about his charge saying she was worried. Obsidius though felt like not revealing the situation to the ridgeback not wanting Glade to hear what Alfa was doing. Eventually the mirror returned unharmed and Obsidius went to hear what had happened. He gave a short summary while Obsidius noticed Glade watching them from the distance.

The following night Obsidius refused to leave Alfa alone not liking how Glade was still in loose and did not seem to like the news he got from the Behemoth. The imperial was clearly angry and Obsidius was prepared him to try attack Alfa again. What happened instead though was he attacking the plague ambassador and ending up being crystallized by Nemo while doing so. Glade was not a threat being a huge chunk of crystal for time being but that didn’t make Obsidius feel any safer. Nemo had passed out while saving the plague dragon and was then been captured by Tinker for reasons Obsidius didn’t know. That in turn made Alfa and Tinker’s relationship almost ice cold which in turn made Alfa very nervous in general.

During the trial against Nemo Obsidius kept very unwilling Alfa under his arm expecting Tinker to start blaming him to get him out of the clan. During the trial Obsidius understood that the reason Alfa had wanted to leave some of the weird cases in the clan be was because he seemingly had known Nemo was behind them. To Obsidius what she had done was not alright but also not severe enough to have him demand justice or truth. Alfa knew more about Nemo than he did and there was probably something that justified Nemo’s actions to him, and Obsidius didn’t want to force him to open.

After the trial Alfa was feeling very blue barely talking to Obsidius while Tinker kept glancing to him. Obsidius didn’t like the dynamic and stayed close to his charge trying to cheer him up to not give Tinker too much power, or to look weak in Morgana’s eyes. Some time later Glade lost his status which Obsidius felt like a very good news during that time. Tinker though started to act weird and came to ask about someone. She was desperate and being confused by that Obsidius was able to hold his claws when she lifted Alfa up out of the blue but he was ready slam the ridgeback at any moment.

Tinker left Alfa alone after that meeting leaving both males confused as she seemed to have lost something or someone. Soon after that Glade was turned into a king parda by few of Alfa’s grandchildren making him less of a threat but remained sentient and Obsidius feared for revenge. Though not feeling that great and knowing the potential of Glade’s future actions Alfa asked Obsidius to have few free nights. Obsidius didn’t want to do that but Alfa made himself clear and technically forced him to spend time with Utu before she left to travel across the Sornieth. For Obsidius it was the most pleasant abandon charge -order he had received.

After the weird encounter Tinker took her time to calm down from whatever Morgana acting as domestic leader during that time while Alfa remained confused by the weird encounter. She did decent job but Obsidius was happy to have Tinker back in charge once she got her act back together. It took long time for Obsidius to understand what had caused the stress season for someone usually so confident it turning out to be because of Nemo's escape she having removed herself from everyone's memory which had stressed Tinker out. Nemo's return seemed to stress Tinker out too and Obsidius had to help Alfa to keep the conversation civil.

The clan was a bit tense after Nemo returned but eventually everything got back to somewhat normal. Things were peaceful after that Nova discovering a new constellation causing the clan change the name to fit it and the clan started new temple project. Things in the clan were getting weird soon after that but both Obsidius and Alfa were too busy with the new temple to pay attention to that until Tinker brought a foreign plague dragon to meet Alfa. According to them Silence had attacked one of them and they needed to solve the situation.

Silence though a bit insane had never attacked another dragon and the entire clan was worried and the hostile familiars, which the lair was full of for some reason, didn't help with that. Because the situation with the familiars the clan could not risk ending up in a war with a plague clan and Alfa and Tahna did all they could to prevent that Obsidius being there to protect his charge just in case. In the middle of all the hustle Glade who had been turned back to normal got back his ambassador status which everyone found worrying, and Nemo had gone missing making Alfa and Tinker's relationship very cold.

The situation with the plague clan was solved a bit before the annual arcane House Cup which Alfa and Obsidius were resting after stressful weeks. However, after it was over Tinker and Morgana came to demand that they dug Nemo up wherever she had gone and the males had no other choice but to join them. They scouted the entirety of Nemo's area without finding any signs of the mage they meeting in the middle of that. As they were talking about possibilities Obsidius noticed the plants around them growing fast trapping them where they were he informing Alfa about that with a gentle tap.

Morgana and Tinker both noticed that too and while they were still confused Glade, Shadow, Sapny and Megabrain came through the wall of trees Obsidius smelling a clear ambush. He took Alfa under his leg and wing staring at the Glade seeing him as the biggest threat while the ambushers explained their plan. The tension rose fast until everything was let lose when Tinker tried to escape being petrified by Shadow immediately.

Glade released his nature magic trying to tie Obsidius down while he tried to protect Alfa from Sapny's earth magic. Obsidius was able to hear something heavy falling assuming it was Morgana but he was too busy dealing with his own enemies to check. Glade's magic had gotten stronger since the last encounter and Obsidius struggled to break free from all the vines and it got harder once Shadow and Megabrain joined with their spells and whatever the alchemist had in his bottles. Obsidius felt like crushing to the ground at any moment Glade's vines covering him almost fully and to not crush Alfa still under him he pushed him away with his tail only to see Sapny petrify him in a second the wing was no longer between them. Fear and anger were dominating Obsidius' head as it was him, tied to the ground by Glade's nature magic, versus two mages, druid and alchemist he eventually passing out.

Obsidius wasn't sure how long it had been once he eventually woke up being surrounded by mostly unfamiliar dragons. Morgana was still at the scene looking confused but both Alfa and Tinker were missing and Obsidius was immediately trying to find his charge. He was told Alfa was in healing offices to where Obsidius eventually managed to drag himself to being still dizzy. There he found Alfa sleeping next to a weird cocoon which Tinker said held Nemo she being in coma now and Alfa having very nasty wound at his tail base.

The clan had gotten a lot of outside help to beat the summoners as the clan knew the four that had attacked them in the wood and Alfa was busy organizing stuff the tail wound not making it easy for him. Obsidius offered to carry him when walking became too hard but after everything started to calm down Alfa was so tired that he decided to step down from his leadership position at least temporarily. Obsidius was not sure how he felt about leaving Morgana and Tinker lead without their counter Julius, Alfa's substitute, most likely not doing that but he understood his charge's needs and didn't oppose him.

During the following weeks Alfa mostly rested letting Obsidius to have a lot of free time. He used that mostly by making sure Alfa had all he needed or hanging out with Parcha if Utu or even Breeze took that job instead. Eventually Alfa's tail had recovered enough for him to take his place back but they decided to stop their raids neither of them wanting the wound to open up again.

A frame made out of folded maps, compasses and feathers. Inside it a bust of a black wind guardian with gilded horns and claws and a plait beard with a gilded bead. He is wearing a dark bluish grey armor including helmet, wing covers and arm guards. A bluish grey trident can be seen peaking behind the dragon. He is laughting as he is scracthing his nose with his right arm. The background is light green with paper texture.

Name origin:
Finlandia formed the name by making his
primary color "obsidian" into a name by
adding "-ius" to the end. Inspiration
were probably names like "Antonius"
and "Stratovarius".

Traits

Obsidius is a massive and muscular obsidian black wind guardian with very thick skin. Originally an obsidian bodied with paler and darker spots and stripes, near white striped wings and dark grey crackle markings decorating both of them Obsidius is nowadays best identified by the skin paint he obtained early on in his life. The body paint is multi-layered having an obsidian dark outer layer with a bit of a brown tint. It is decorated by very shallow scars, that don’t even reach his flesh, that reveal the golden and red under layers. His horns, claws and spines are gold colored. His fins are ragged after many battles. As a male guardian Obsidius has an impressive, tallish black beard with golden reflection. When free it is often shaggy but Obsidius tends to have it plait being tied with a gilded wooded bead. His eyes are common light green.

Obsidius is a body guard and a battle veteran and that can be seen easily from what he wears. He has mildly scratched dark blue armor including a helmet and arm, leg, tail and wing guards. He also has a trident but it is never used in combat. Instead its most prominent uses are to warm up food or to scratch his back. He though keeps it always with him just in case his charge wants to use it and to scare off some of the threats.

Being a large dragon it is no surprise that Obsidius has deep voice with a lot of bass. It is often gentle and jolly, rarely mad, with jovial way of speaking but it may get serious if Obsidius feels his charge is being threatened. He has a mild Scottish accent and loud laughter.

Though looking though Obsidius is actually very light-hearted and jovial dragon not really liking a bad mood. Though a warrior he doesn’t really like fighting and doesn’t really take challenges seriously, assuming his charge isn’t in the line. He is aware of his size and durability and knows very few can actually hurt him and that’s why when challenged he tends to just push challenger back or just stands still until they got bored. Obsidius isn’t very intelligent but he isn’t stupid either though when in mood he might pretend to be a lot stupider than what he actually is. He can tolerate teasing and doesn’t get mad easily though he might enjoy others getting mad with him. If he doesn't feel like his charge needs his attention he may have some fun and become full-on clown for sake of annoying the more serious authority dragons because he knows they can't hurt him even if they wanted.

Though a laid-back dragon Obsidius is still a guardian with a charge and he is very dedicated to keep him safe. He has very little humor if his charge is questioned or threatened and may use his strength if he finds it being needed. Obsidius charge is a mirror, clan’s founder, Alfa and Obsidius often acts as a servant to him. Obsidius trusts Alfa a lot having gone through a lot with him starting with raids against beastclans and is very loyal to dragon who he sees as the real leader of the clan. Obsidius often trusts Alfa’s acumen and supports him with his decisions but may oppose him if he feels his charge is doing something clearly stupid. Other case is when Alfa feels being baby-sit while Obsidius feels his charge isn’t being guarded hard enough. Though dedicated to guard his charge Obsidius may occasionally have some free time which he usually spends with his friends and other clan mates either making jokes, playing, being laughed at or just hanging out he enjoying company every time.

Obsidius has never thought of having a pet being occupied enough with his charge. If he wants to have a companion he plays with Alfa’s pet dog Karhu using his beard as a pull rope. Otherwise he finds pets unneeded.

Obsidius has barely ever used his wind magic and can’t cast spells of any kind. It doesn’t help either that the arcane magic drained some of it while the clan still lived on the Peak. Obsidius though can use his voice with interesting ways. If needed he can, using his impressive lungs, create a sonic boom like shout that has a high change of stunning those hit by it. He though needs to be on the ground to not be affected by the opposing force that much. This ability was most used when raiding beastclans and is still used if needing to silent arguments when no one else dares.

As a wind dragon one would assume Obsidius is a good flier and they’d be right. Obsidius is very durable flier potentially being able to fly around the whole continent without rest and he is fast though not hawk fast when taking his size into a count. He can also carry a lot of heavy stuff and still being able to fly which makes him often the mule when clan needs to move something long distances. If something could be improved, it would be his agility. Though a good flier he is not able to make sharp turns or any kinds of flips being a bit too muscular to that.

Obsidius is a battle veteran and relatively good fighter thanks to his experience. He isn't very fast or agile but is very sturdy and often takes hits head on barely flinching. He lets the opponent tire themselves before starting attacks himself if his charge is not doing the dirty work in which case he often holds the opponent in place. He though can hit hard with everything between his head and tail and he has quite strong jaws as well being able to break bones on weaker creatures if there is a need. His number one weapon however is his weight and if in combat he uses that to crush or otherwise imbalance his opponents.
