Clan History
"This booklet describes the history of Clan Scatterspark, from its beginnings
as a small Lightning clan to the bustling town you see today." Jubilee Junction was not a name that stuck. Neither was New Canyonton, or West Sunshower, or any of the others the Powers-that-Be had tried to stick on the little community that had quite literally carved its place into the very walls of Sunshower Pass, spanning the distance between Carrion Canyon and the Hewn City. Ever since the little settlement had started pushing its borders across the Carrion Canyon and into Light Flight territory, the officials from the other side of the Hewn City had been trying to stick a name on it, and the settlement’s council had rejected every last one. The once-overlooked community wedged into the canyon walls was truly verging on becoming a small city these days, filled with permanent residents travelers from all over Sornieth as they made their way from one territory to the next, but no matter how large it grew or what name any outsiders tried to stick on it, to the dragons that called it home, the bustling frontier town would always be the Scatterspark Outpost. The spread of the town was as eclectic as the dragons that lived there -- from hardened refugees from the Shifting Expanse to curious archaeologists delving into the mysteries beneath the earth, from stoic librarians all the way from Lanternlea Port to intrepid explorers looking for their next adventure, the dragons that called the Sunshower Pass home came in every shape and size. The newer architecture in the city was clearly influenced by the coastal port cities of the Lightweaver’s domain, courtesy of the artists and scholars that had migrated south, directly at odds with the more slapdash construction that had sprung from the shadow of the original outpost, built from necessity as the clan had rapidly expanded. Most of the city was crammed into the nooks and crannies of the canyon walls, but the Sunshower Trading Company had staked its claim along the top of the ridge, and a bustling marketplace had grown up over the years, full of the sights and sounds and smells from all over Sornieth as travelers stopped to sell their wares, swapping tales and tastes of their home regions through all hours of the day and night. While many of the travelers quickly packed up their camps and continued on their journeys, there were plenty who stayed, adding to the melange of Scatterspark’s citizens, finding a home somewhere within the wild array of a town between two worlds -- to the south, the technically-minded scientists who still leaned toward their Lightning Flight ideals, and to the north, the effervescent academics constantly seeking to find the next breakthroughs in magic and mechanics in their service to the Lightweaver.
