_Canyon1.png It's rare to see an Ice dragon in a locale as hot and dry as Carrion Canyon, but his personality seems just as chilly as one would expect. Canyon goes about his duties reliable as clockwork, unsmiling and serious. Up at dawn, patrolling the central marketplace until lunchtime, then patrolling some more until dusk. His very presence is enough to deter thieves and troublemakers most of the time, and most of them would never notice his brief half-smile at the weaver, or his friendly wink when buying lunch from the baker. Lost and orphaned eggs and hatchlings are not uncommon finds in Carrion Canyon, but an Ice egg in one of the hottest regions of Sornieth... now that was an oddity. The unfortunate egg was taken in by the caretaker of the local hatchery, and tended to carefully in a specially-chilled incubator. Though the egg remained solid and still for weeks, the hatchling within proved healthy and strong. In the early afternoon on Marva's Day, the egg began to crack and melt, and a most unexpected hatchling burst forth: a little Wildlcaw, all warm browns and streaking reds like the cliffs of his new home.

Canyon grew fast, never showing a hint of discomfort in the desert heat. He seemed a serious and reserved young dragon, often standing apart from the crowd and play-hunting on his own, but he was also very competitive. When he wasn't the earliest of his group to fly, he made certain he was at least the first to fly so high and so far; in feats of strength and speed, he pushed himself to excel beyond the other fledgelings. His teachers speculated that he had something to prove, an orphaned Ice dragon raised in Lightning territory. His peers thought he was just a bit too unfriendly, a bit too arrogant. Whatever his motivation, Canyon grew into a fierce, skilled dragon, and secured a position as a patrol guard at the marketplace.

Despite his serious, forbidding demeanor, the Wildclaw does have a secretive bit of fun in him. Most of the denizens of Scatterspark Outpost assume he's an all-work, no-play sort of dragon, but the few close friends he has know otherwise. They recognize his odd, deadpan comments for the jokes they are, and while his focus is undeterred during working hours, they know to seek him out on the weekends for drinks and card games in the privacy of his den. And of course, he always celebrates his hatchday with a good prank in the spirit of Marva herself. It's all the more fun for how nobody would think to trace it back to him.
