Adam has been told on more than one occasion that he and Anais are an odd pair, and he knows it’s true -- Anais is gruff, all hard edges and short words with an even shorter patience, while he has an easy smile and softer demeanor, always willing to lend a listening ear to those in need. Not that he can’t be strict when the occasion calls for it -- and the occasion certainly calls for it from time to time with as many travelers as they have passing through their clan’s territory from season to season -- but he prefers a gentler touch than his mate does when it comes to addressing conflict. Adam is a fair judge and a peacemaker above all else, always seeking a compromise that will leave both parties satisfied whenever possible. While he can certainly be intimidating to newcomers with his sheer size, Adam is always quick to make it known that he is a gentle giant, a softly reassuring and often welcoming presence. Whereas Anais prefers to keep to herself, patrolling the borders of their territory for hours on end without another soul in sight, Adam prefers to take on the role of a more present leader, frequently immersing himself in the comings and goings of the day-to-day business at Scatterspark Outpost. He is always eager to sample the wares that the traders and merchants have brought to the market sprawling along the clifftops, and is happy to hear their tales of exploration and adventure. While wandering through the market, Adam often will comment to anyone within earshot that he’s thinking of opening his own market stall and rolling out his own line of fashionable fezes for everyday and formal wear, and he usually gets a half-hearted laugh from someone who’s not quite sure if he’s joking -- at which point he often takes the fez from his own head and offers it to them as a free sample. (They always politely decline, and he happily perches his fez back up in its proper place.) Heavily invested in council meetings, Adam is often the voice of reason within the council chambers, able to steer even the most heated debate back into calmer waters. He is recognized as a bastion of support among his clan, and is a fierce advocate for the dragons who live within Scatterspark’s borders -- from the feistiest Fay to the strong and silent Snappers, Adam works tirelessly to make sure every voice in his clan is heard. He firmly believes that everyone is worthy of respect and has little patience for rudeness or intolerance. He is quick to put a stop to unkind words whenever he hears them by simply asking, “I’m sorry, I don’t understand -- what exactly do you mean?” and often leaving the offender stumbling over their own words as they rush to backpedal the conversation into smoother territory. |
