Scatterspark Outpost sometimes seems to be a magnet for strays, so it was no surprise when the scavengers turned up yet another lost little egg. It was damaged and cold when they brought it to the hatchery, but even unborn Mirrors are perseverant creatures, and soon the frail egg hatched into a frail little dragon. Her caretaker, Quartz, had a special fondness for the sickly hatchling, and as a result she grew up rather sheltered and coddled. Peony isn't selfish or spoiled, though; on the contrary, the surplus of gentle kindness with which she was raised is reflected in her own generous nature. She never grew to be as strong or energetic as most of her breed, and so, as she got older, she turned her focus to a profession less taxing than the traditional hunting or scouting. Flowers, somehow both fragile and resilient, had always interested her. They represented what she wanted to be: strong and beautiful and of value, despite her poor health. And, to be entirely honest, she has always had a bit of a weakness for pretty things. Gardening seemed to be her calling, and her skill in the greenhouse is especially valuable in the desert community, where bright flowers and vibrant plants are a rare commodity. Despite her kind nature and physical weakness, she still carries many of the typical Mirror traits in abundance. She's very social dragon, though not very chatty; when she does speak, she tends to be forthright and literal. She prefers to be part of a group when she isn't working, spending much of her time with friends and neighbors, or simply hanging around the market and tagging along after whoever welcomes her company. Peony tends to see the best in others, but unkind comments and sarcasm put her off, and once she's formed an opinion, it's very difficult to change her mind. This has gotten her into trouble more than once with her friends, as she can also be exceptionally irritable and snappish when she's feeling particularly unwell. Grudgingly, she has to admit that it isn't fair to judge others when she's guilty of the same bad moods, but it's a hard habit for her to break. Fortunately, these fits of crankiness are uncommon, and her cheery personality usually wins out.
