This dragon has set out on a journey through Sornieth during Brightshine Jubilee '19 from Sunday, June 23 'til June 30. It is one of many that wants to visit lairs and clans, hoping to receive lore before being sent back to their home after the adventure is complete. Even years later they will be able to look back at this time by going through the poetry, prose and art they received, as well as all the encounters, adventure, new friends and enemies they encountered.

Please, keep in mind...
not to purposely edit or delete lore made by other users
not to breed or exalt this dragon while traveling

to send this dragon off to the next designation after 1 day
to return this dragon to its owner Juri01
as agreed to the rules of the event.

This is the a list of destination lairs for Eria to keep track of her journey.
Let's get started, shall we?

Entry 1 - The Journey Beginns
Date: June 16, 2019
Location: Windswept Plateau/Twisting Crescendo - Clan Àidhear
There was a buzzing in the air. Dragons were running around, whispering in the open while avoiding dark corners. Passing by, there was one name that was uttered over and over again: 'Pandora'. And while some sounded panicked, even more voices seemed annoyed and very determined to get going. This years Brightshine Jubilee was embedded by a kind of ‘pronunciamento’, a call to all those of clever mind, strong claws and enduring patience. Standing in the middle of all the fuss was an opened box. Actually, a mythical artifact and a whispered name. Listening closer, the whisperers were painting a dark picture. One filled with sorrow, mischief and discord. Describing escaped prisoners ready to plunge into disaster everything they touched.

Back home – at the Windswept Plateau – they call one, who can’t keep their snout out of other dragons’ business, a gossip. Be it just a little bit, or a lot. They have dirt on everyone and everything. But, there surely is one particular gossip that will keep a secret as one in Clan Àidhear. At least, for the proper price. Most will tell you, that she is quite the sneaky one too, a skill that she puts to use often to listen in on other dragons. As her nosy personality often gets this particular someone in trouble; she sure has more enemies than friends because of it. However, all she has to do is mention that 'this one' might know a deep secret – and suddenly they all go silent.

The friends this one does have though, are true and real. Sometimes, they might try to use her skill to learn more about other dragons. Really, with their friends sneaking and agile form, she would make one amazing spy. Yet, they are disappointed deeply as the dragon isn’t really one for working for someone else or trying to figure out the deep dark secrets. All she is interested in are the most recent rumors and gossip. Although, this does have the side effect of learning 'who did what dirty act when and where.'

This particular gossip isn't one for fake rumors either. Who would want to make something up or spin a tale? One shouldn't create drama based off lies, just the truth. There is no fun in that. If she does hear a false rumor going around, this gossip typically tries to stamp it down and prove it wrong; and find out who spread it. More drama, right?

So, let me ask you one last thing: Isn’t this an amazing skill for any traveling Archeologist – like I am?

Clya inspired me with the previous lore, so I wrote this ;3 Thanks Clya!"

Entry 2 - A Dangerous Trail
Date: June 23, 2019
Location: ClockworkEclipse - The Wanderers at the Wyrmwound
My, isn't this a story to tell! A juicy rumor indeed, but perhaps a bit more than expected to say the least. These Wanderers, now divided, have traveled far in such an inhospitable land, and seem to have been quite lucky to evade the disasters that plague them. No pun intended, of course. But now, this someone has found a peculiar rumor that may very well be the answer to all their problems! If only it were truly safe to speak it aloud.

You see, this certain someone followed the trail left behind by these Wanderers, listening to the rumors that trail them. Outrunning a deadly disease in the Wandering Contagion, barely evading a beast in the Abiding Boneyard, outlasting an ancient evil that attempted to possess their very own guards at the Rotrock Rim, it all seemed much too exaggerated to be true. Draconic golems and ancient evils certainly didn't actually exist in this little clan, not really. And yet, beside the Wyrmwound itself, this gossip found what remains of the ragtag bunch of survivors.

The rumors seem to have been true. There is a Spiral golem powered by elemental stones of Lightning, and pieces around the workshop show signs of the Arcane golem as well, even if he is currently absent. There are even scraps that appear to be akin to the wings of a Fae, a perfect match for their missing leader. There aren't many left here, but those who remain whisper in fearful tones about the shadow of a beast that struck as they moved from the Rim, killing many of their own as they fled. Now that the Lightning golem is functioning once more, he's been able to tell the clan his tale, but this particular gossip could tell he was hiding something. The clan only heard the words Emperor, and immediately began fortifying their own base beside the Wyrmwound, building what can only be called a fortress of sorts to protect them. They've enlisted the help of Gaolers to dig underground barracks, and Imperials work alongside Guardians and Ridgebacks as the walls rise up. They even have plans for a moat, one which will be filled with the very contagion found in the Wyrmwound. Pretty clever, honestly, if they can make it work. That isn't the rumor this gossip heard, however.

This gossip got that golem alone and asked for the truth. Using her charm and wit, she was able to wrangle the rest of the story from him, and boy is it a big one! He claims this Emperor, one that has two heads, can separate themselves and reattach at will! He'd seen it himself, after the fight. They'd thought he was down, probably dead, and couldn't recall what he'd seen as they separated and rejoined the ranks of their clanmates, feigning terror. Well, this gossip couldn't leave things be. She had to know if this was true. So, she hunted down these two Imperials, one quiet male and one imposing female, only to get the cold shoulder! She couldn't even ask them what they'd seen that night! The girl told her mate to, and they quote, "Get this nosy filth out of here!" The gossip knew she wasn't wanted, so she left them to their secrecy. This gossip didn't just quit, however! She'd find the truth, especially with so many rumors chasing this group to this very point!

It was during this moment of determination that her little rumor was confirmed. Another Imperial pulled her aside, bearing scars of her own battle with the beast tainted by the Shade, and she told her story of her first encounter with the two Imperials who had shunned the gossip. She told the story of a great battle to protect her sanctuary, her own monastery to the Earthshaker, from a pair of Shade-touched Imperials who turned themselves into an Emperor, inspired by the work of a Gaoler who'd done the same to four others in the Icewarden's domain back when the Gaolers were seen as the only children of Ice. She told of how she fought bravely, and chased them away, but couldn't kill them. She told of how they'd crippled her for the rest of her days, and how now she can only warn others to try and prevent such a disaster from occurring again. There's no denying her story. She bears the scars to prove it, and the mated pair certainly weren't open to questions about it afterwards.

So, this gossip knows the truth of the Wanderers and their plight, the very source of their problems. There is a dark force indeed, looming over this small group of survivors as they struggle to live beside a cauldron of disease. She knows what'll help them, what will surely save them! This gossip can help them!

If only I could say it aloud.

This gossip may have found too much for her own good. She'll tell them the ones who had left may have perhaps made the wisest decision, and she'll leave a note for the remaining leader. Surely the ability to leave with her life is a high enough price, especially for one in such a dire straight as this. They have many problems still that this gossip could solve for a price, but this rumor might just be worth too much to actually sell. No one could afford it. It must be given away.

The Imperial's story hasn't left this gossip's mind, nor has her advice. Perhaps there are others in the Lightweaver's domain who can send aid their way, if not distract her from this dangerous rumor. Even their Emperor would be better than this! After all, an Emperor without their wits is one thing, but one with their minds intact is something to truly be feared.

Yes, perhaps the Radiant Eye is a much safer place to be than here.

Entry 3 - Roots
Date: June 24, 2019
Location: SilverQuark - Beacon of the Radiant Eye
There's something strangely familiar to a Wind-born Pearlcatcher visiting the Sunbeam Ruins for the first time. Almost like an ancestral call. Perhaps this is what it means to be a member of a species that originated here?

Anyhow, my expectations for what a Light community actually is or isn't were... off, for this one. I would have definitely expected more of the dragons I met to be into ancient history, relics, y'know. Light stuff. I've found that several of them are scientists in some form or other, and they also have a decent lineup of hunters and gatherers. I believe they were originally from Nature territories. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least one of each of the elements here. Maybe that's why this clan doesn't feel entirely "Light", but more of a mix. Variety is the spice of life, as they say. They sure are organised above and beyond what you'd expect of a Lightning community. (Watch me go visit the Shifting Expanse next, only to be surprised again.)

My guide was a young Spiral named Lumia. She seems to know a remarkable amount of facts and curiosities about the history of the Sunbeam Ruins. As we toured, she went over the creation of Imperials and Pearlcatchers by the hands of the Lightweaver, explained their centuries-old rivalry of sorts, and how modern dragon communities have made efforts towards reconciling the species for the greater good. I was allowed to touch and examine some nifty remains and was even gifted one for keeps, as a souvenir. Neat!

Entry 4 - The Canyon Outpost
Date: June 25, 2019
Location: Scatterspark Outpost - Sunshower Pass
As it happens, the next locale I passed through was a little settlement--an ancient outpost overgrown into a town--just on the border between Light and Lightning. They couldn't have chosen a less welcoming region for a home: an arid canyon, beat down by the hot sun half the days of the week and sweltered by clouds and thunder the rest! To the north, the shadowy and dangerous Hewn City, and to the south, the dessicated and equally-dangerous Carrion Canyon. And yet... I wouldn't call this place an oasis, but it had a genuine air of cheer and vitality to it.

And how strange, to see dragons of such different backgrounds cohabitating! Though my visit to the Beacon proved that Light dragons don't always fit the mold of tedious scholar, it was strange to see how the traditional and studious nature of Light meshed with the aggressive science and progress of Lightning. The ingenious little village has come up with a way to harness energy from the sun, of all things! And their printing press can, with the flip of a switch, print the same manuscript in a size small enough for a Fae, or large enough for an Imperial. I may deal in rumors and gossip, but I can think of a number of urban legends that would sound more likely than some of these innovations to the dragons back home.

I must say, though, that the citizens were positively charming, in their odd way. Their town center was done up with banners and lights both electrical and magical for the Brightshine Jubilee, and I must have met two-dozen strange characters throughout the day. My guide was a sparkling, showy Coatl by the name of Remy, and he could scarcely stop talking the entire time we walked. A bit of a buffoon, perhaps, but he knew an awful lot about his neighbors and the strange projects they undertake in their laboratories and workrooms. Despite his foolish fluttering, he did have a sort of charm and chivalry to him, and was more than eager to share the local gossip. He's just the sort of dragon I like to befriend most on little excursions like these.

I did take the time to visit their library, of course. Certainly not the most impressive I've seen, by far, but their collection of antiquities and geological finds was quaint, at least. I ended the day in the local inn and tavern, the Merry Marzal, where quite a little crowd gathered to hear about my adventures thus far. Remy left me with a small gift, which he assured me was simply a token of appreciation for we traveling archaeologists, nothing personal... but forgive me if I suspect otherwise from a dragon who insisted on kissing my hand before quite sashaying out the door. Still... this new pot of ink is quite lovely. It would be a crime not to use it. See that little trace of shimmery gold brightening the umber?

...Perhaps I'll have to make a return visit, sometime.

Entry 5 - A Great Deal
Date: June 26, 2019
Location: The Meandering Market - Pillar of the World
There was a market in the area, though one that wouldn't stay for long. Busy, crowded marketplaces gave some of the best opportunities to overhear some choice conversations, so I figured it was time to do a little shopping! For a place that packed up and moved so frequently, it's size was most impressive. I couldn't think of a single thing that wasn't represented among one of the many stalls. That leads me to my next point, and to the next dragon I'd like to meet.

He calls himself Swindle, though swears up and down that it's just a misnomer, and I have to admit, his deals were fair as far as I could tell. Though, I was much more interested in what he was selling, not how he was selling it. Word on the street was that the Ridgeback was carrying some very unique stock; things you wouldn't boast about buying when it came time to return to the clan. Now, I knew better than anyone how fast a secret could get out of hand and ruin a reputation, so I had no intention of purchasing any of his goods, but I just had to confirm the story for myself!

He was bold with his operation, setting up in one of the busiest areas of the market, but as I watched him, I'd noticed him watching me as well. It was now or never I suppose. He spoke first when I approached,

"That nose of yours'll get you in some deep trouble. You'd best watch that 'fore you go starin' at the wrong Ridgeback. But I know you don't mean no harm, so go ahead and take a look at what I'm packin'."

He stepped back with a grand gesture to the small array of wares he had displayed on the table outside. His words were confirmation enough that what he was keeping inside the tent behind him were for special sets of eyes only. I had all I needed to know, but I'd humor the merchant for being such a good sport. At once, my eyes settled on a set of beautiful golden silks, meant to be draped over the wings. Swindle smiled at my choice and began to speak again,

"A rather safe choice, don'tcha think? Still a good one though, but you'd best keep it quiet. Ol' Torrent'll have my head if she finds out I've been steppin' in on the silk trade. Go on then, make me an offer. I'll go easy on you."

Bartering was a game to him, based on the smile on his face. Two could play at that game, I decided, giving my laughably low offer with the utmost confidence. And laugh we did, as our attempt to make a deal dissolved into ridiculous claims that the price should be swayed one way or another, both of us too stubborn to let the other win. In the end, I got my piece for free, so long as I promised to spread the word about the traveling market, with the exception of potential 'questionable' goods, of course.

The rest of my stay passed in a whirlwind of activity, and soon enough, I was off once again to the Sunbeam Ruins.

Entry 6 - A missed opportunity
Date: June 27, 2019
Location: Clan starlight - Edges of the Hewn City
My return to light flight territory took me a bit off the beaten path, to a clan that had used the normal avoidance of the hewn city to find space to expand. My guide for the visit was a pale colored coatl, named Aeterna , the mate of clan starlight's own traveler, Lux.

This made it both harder, and easier, to investigate the rumor that the clan leader's mate Harris was cheating on Alexa with Aeterna herself.

Unfortunately after I wasted much of my visit on that rumor, I found out that it was simply a gift being blown out of proportion.

And worse, I had missed out on the more interesting potential scandal that I had been kept well away from, the details of which continue to elude me, but apparently something major happened during last year's night of nocturne, and while the fate of the dragon involved is unclear, she has apparently been hidden away. One shouldn't believe rumors for everything, but some of the suggestions involved possible shade taint, one even claimed that the mad pearlcatcher was responsible for opening pandoras box. This is almost surely nonsense, but given the new presence of gaoler dragons in the clan, there might well be a story here.

It's a shame my visit was so limited, since I would love to unearth the truth behind these rumors.

Entry 8 - Knock, knock. Who's there? Not my memory.
Date: June 29, 2019
Location: Snek - Split Heartwood
This morning, I woke to a splitting headache and the sight of my travel pack lying open next to me, its buckle ripped free and its contents spilled everywhere. I first thought myself ambushed by a thief or set upon by a wild Beastclan creature, but now that I open my journal to write about it, I discover that my attacker also chose to tear out the page concerning my previous destination.

This would not be a problem if I could remember enough to write about it a second time. Unfortunately, my head injury has resulted in a partial loss of memory. I recall bits about a pearlcatcher and a dangerous box, an affair, and the very beginnings of my wanderings down the next path, but everything after that is... well, blank. I do not know who did this to me, or why, but I can say with confidence--and no small amount of anger--that they managed their task, whatever it was.

The dragon who found me washing my head in a small pond has been very kind to me. Dotty, as he calls himself, is a strange yellow and purple tundra presently dressed all in sparkling blues and purples; his outfit seems as though it ought to look like a hideous mish-mash of available fabrics, yet somehow it all comes together rather nicely as a whole. I think he likes it this way. He certainly seemed amused by my stealing glimpses at it when I mistakenly thought he wasn't looking. ... Perhaps I'm a little more rattled by this blow to my head than I believed? I don't know.

Anyway, he gave me some provisions--mine had been trampled into the dirt by my assailant--and a pair of goggles, claiming the lenses were specially tinted to keep out the worst of the sunlight's rays. They work quite well; my headache has abated some since I put them on. He then took to sewing up what was left of my pack and telling me stories of his home in a clan called Split Heartwood.

If only I didn't need to return home! His tales are almost too bizarre to be believed. I would head straight there to investigate these delicious tidbits (and, naturally, put an end to them if they proved false). For example: He claims to know a talking snake--not a serthis--which has learned to speak and fly about on spare feathers. He also spoke of a coatl which has survived countless centuries by making itself into a machine and a bluejay that drank from a spilled potion and became a dragon. The ease with which he spun out detail after detail captivated me. He is either the most talented liar I have ever met or friends with a batch of very strange people.

Seeing the crown upon his head, I am inclined to suspect the first, but... Do you ever hear a story and know there must be at least a grain of truth behind them? There's a feeling, a gut reaction which shakes the brain and cannot let it go. I feel that now.

Well, no matter. There will be other festivals, and I may find another chance to travel. If so, I should like to visit the place from which Dotty says he hails.

On my way home now. I hope whoever injured me does not come back for a repeat performance. I have gossip to share with my friends, and gossip is only interesting as long as it's fresh. I have to get it to them before they encounter it themselves!

Dustrunner's Arctic Goggles
I look silly in these, but they really do work.
