Biography

Puolanka hatched as spiral during the day of love with no siblings. Maybe because of that Valenca, the only pearlcatcher in the hatchery was very eager to spend time with him and though a bit annoying the two became friends. They left the hatchery at the same time Valenca's siblings soon following. She did not care about them but instead dragged Puolanka along when they visited every dragon they saw befriending quite a few, along those doll triplets Huey, Louie and Dewey.

After getting their own nests done Puolanka and Valenca helped a little bit with building labs because Valenca insisted. They did that for some time but because neither of them liked doing that they eventually moved to join clan's gathering groups the two starting to spend less time together as they joined different groups. Puolanka didn't mind taking a break from Valenca's constant talking and when not hunting he spent his time either reading or flying across the boarders of the clan paying mind to all the little things, mostly plants and crystals, hiding under bigger plants.

One night, when stopping to investigate footprints of someone's familiar, Puolanka noticed a semi-large black nightingale looking at him and following him as he moved forward until flying away. It caught Puolanka's attention and he kept his eyes open to see whose bird it was but found no one with such a bird familiar and he started to suspect a spy. Few nights later Puolanka saw the bird following him once again and after it flew away he followed it until the bird turned into a spiral-bird hybrid. Puolanka stayed hidden until the bird-dragon's familiar flew past him revealing his location to the bird-spiral. She called Puolanka out by name and he did so asking how she knew his name.

The dragon, Idaea, told that she was tasked with guarding the borders of the lair to make sure no one sneaked out carelessly which had happened to her when she had been younger she having lost her siblings to some kind of mind manipulating plant-alien thing, maybe. She had survived but was basically cursed to be bird-dragon hybrid with ability to turn into full on bird when she so wanted. She was also Puolanka's half-sister which was why she was keeping an extra eye on him not wanting their mother to lose him like she had lost Idaea's siblings. Puolanka was partly surprised to have siblings in the clan but at the same he was not he having noticed everyone to be related when having met his clan mates for the first time. He promised to not sneak into the wood, especially if he heard voice calling, and the two parted ways.

When not noticing all the meaningless little things in the lair Puolanka joined gathering groups he being put to insect catching groups during wind's holiday sharing that fate with Valenca. Puolanka had not seen her for a while and was happy to find a shared dislike for bugs as they were tasked to find something for insect eaters. Valenca had started to spend a lot of time in clan's cafeteria and kept talking about random stuff she saw and heard in there. Some time after the wind holiday ended she came to visit Puolanka on their spare time saying there was a suspicious guardian residing in the inn they seeming to have something against the cafeteria owner Pix. The coatl was also clan's nature ambassador and Puolanka was curious of what the guardian had against her but stayed cautious due to what had happened to Idaea when she had put her nose to where it did not belong.

Sneaking into the guardian's room was challenging Vataja refusing to give them information because privacy and such. To get around that the duo ended up stalking the guardian's room day and night the doll triplets joining to help them. They stayed out keeping guard till they saw the guardian leaving. The two took that opportunity to sneak in to see if the guardian had any interesting secrets.

In the room Valenca paid mind to all the bottles and other fancy stuff in there including bags of money while Puolanka noticed some folders. He decided to peek inside one of them and noticed it was some kind of assassin hit list with some info on clan's older residents inside. That was worrying and the two decided to inform leaders about the threat they both being on the list. That was when a scream from the outside caught Puolanka's attention and they noticed that their way out was blocked by what seemed to be the guardian's familiar. It blasted the two with a spell Puolanka passing out before he could dodge.

Puolanka woke up much later hearing Vataja waking up Valenca nearby. He felt weird and after taking a look at himself he could not recognize himself he having been turned into a nocturne with totally different genes to which he had had originally. He turned to see Valenca having experienced similar fate while Vataja lifted them both up before Puolanka managed to get up himself with having so different anatomy. They were taken to Nova Puolanka seeing Halloween and Breeze leave his office as they arrived with three nocturne marionettes. The elders were parents of the doll triplets and Puolanka made connection that the marionettes were the trio.

After it was made sure the two fresh nocturnes were not experiencing any harmful side effects they were allowed to leave. On their way to their nests to rest Puolanka and Valenca heard Svecica announce that the guardian had been found dead in the wood Puolanka being conflicted with that. He would have wanted to ask the guardian about what he and Valenca had found but since they were dead all he could do to figure out the full picture was to go through the guardian's confiscated property in detail. Valenca meanwhile became a waitress she telling that she had heard Silence to be the one to kill the guardian she promising to fish out more info for Puolanka if he so wanted. Puolanka thanked and promised to keep that in mind.

Puolanka asked Silence, his aunt, why she had killed the guardian that having lost them a valuable source of information. The mirror was not concerned and told that had been the only way she had managed to stop them Puolanka being doubtful. She though told that if he wanted to talk with ghosts he should visit Kupari which he ended up doing. Puolanka met with the priestess who told that the ghost of the guardian had tied itself to the skull of its former living form which was why she had kept the skull locked in the sanctuary while the rest of the bones had been given to Skeleton following the burning of the body. Puolanka asked to contact the ghost Kupari giving him the spell to contact the deceased.

Either the ghost was unwilling to speak with Puolanka or he was not good with the spell but he spent a long time trying to get the ghost to appear. He eventually managed to connect with the ghost after telling that their killer was his aunt the ghost coming out to blame his family to be full of criminals Puolanka knowing they referred to him sneaking into their room. He threw that right back at the ghost saying they had taken money to kill someone, or few, and pretended to be a poor guardian in their Search in order to sneak in. They told they had lost their charge in a magic accident which had ended up them being exiled from the research institution and in order to keep studying, and living, they had had to find a way to earn funds, and underground had paid nicely for their unique methods.

Puolanka asked who had hired them to target the clan the guardian telling it had been an imperial and professional outlaw as they had refused to tell their name. After few more questions about the imperial Puolanka came to conclusion he was not getting any closer to figuring out who that imperial was and turned his attention back to the guardian asking what they were planning to do now that they were stuck in their own skull. The guardian told they were not going to move to the afterlife and told they were going to stay in the skull mocking those who could not cheat death like he had done. After that Puolanka decided he had heard enough and gave the skull back to Kupari and moved on.

After dealing with the ghost and figuring out why they had planned to do what they had planned Puolanka took a short rest. He visited Ayla's shop in the spooky manor to find spells to learn and while in there he saw the doll brothers in their marionette forms. Wanting to know what had happened to them he visited the ghost again they telling they had turned them to those because they were witnesses. They also told they had hit the bird-dragon and Puolanka noticed he had not seen Idaea in some time despite often seeing her keep an eye on the clan.

Puolanka went to see where his sibling had gone the ghost having not been able to specify what the spell had done. He visited the healers but both denied having seen Idaea and all Valenca heard in the cafeteria was that she was in fact missing while her familiar was not. Witchi though hinted that she had visited a healer but not come back and Puolanka went to sniff around though with no prevail. Not even Idaea's familiar joining him part way was able to help him and the two went to the library to find some tracking spells.

Puolanka had barely started going through the books when he heard the ghost calling. They had noticed Puolanka having some problems and offered to help Puolanka guessing they were starting to get bored in the skull that was locked in a cabinet. He and especially Vitis, Idaea's glasswing, were not willing to trust the ghost fearing they might try to posses either of them if they started to carry the skull around. They though both agreed the ghost could help and Puolanka visited Ayla to get a possession protection spell before getting permission from Kupari to take the skull with him.

After that the trio returned to the healing offices where the ghost was able to locate some feathers hidden in Noonan's office in a crack on the wall. It made sense for Idaea to have visited Noonan as Malvadust with his herbs could not so much to magic accidents. When Puolanka asked about the feathers Noonan changed her story to say Idaea had visited her but had already left though she did not know where. Puolanka and the ghost smelled a lie and decided to keep digging.

Since being turned to nocturne Puolanka had noticed he was quite capable with imitating sounds and even dragons. The ghost taught him how to do that better along with teaching him a spell that allowed him to see what normal eyes could not. That let them see for example old blood stains though their age exceeded the time period of Idaea being missing, a lot. They eventually asked Malvadust if Noonan had been like hiding something the young healer being their prime suspect. He said the wildclaw was always hiding stuff from him because of his criticism but he had noticed increase in plants emitting strong smell in her office.

The smell did not really help with investigation Noonan's office being filled with them all around, for some reason. After some interviewing Puolanka learned that a dead body did smell stronger than the plants, or the smell was easy to notice, and the trio decided to try trick Noonan. They did study Malvadust's speech pattern for some time and hid in his office while he went to get his lunch with Noonan staying focused on her experiments. She had not noticed Malvadust leave and staying hidden Puolanka, imitating the old healers, asked if Noonan smelled something dead. She denied saying Malvadust must have been getting old but soon enough Puolanka heard her drop her research and move some of the plants away.

The ghost sneaked to see what was going on there and soon beckoned Puolanka to follow. In the office Noonan was holding a cage with a living weird bird in it Puolanka being sure that was Idaea, with few extra eyes. Noonan dropped the cage when Puolanka revealed himself at the door claiming it was a random alien she had found but the bird showed its disapproval. Puolanka though had the evidence to prove it was actually Idaea and Noonan told her healing method had not worked and the patient was now stuck in that bird form. She had kept her silent with a spell while trying to figure out how to get her back to normal but the ghost told those had only made the effect even harder to revert.

Puolanka told about the situation to Malvadust when he returned leaving the healers to argue while he took Idaea now freed from the silence spell and went to report to Tinker. The old ridgeback was pleased with Puolanka's work and suggested him to strive to hone his investigation skill. Puolanka decided to do so he enjoying using his senses and logic and decided to become clan's investigator with the help of the ghost who decided to have something useful to do, Idaea stuck in her bird form with few extra eyes and Vitis just spying for them.

Puolanka spent his time either doing some puzzles or bonding with his companions they helping him to improve with his skills. The clan life was normally rather peaceful, at least things needing investigation were scarce, and Puolanka didn’t actually have much work in the clan. He did consider becoming a travelling investigator but his companions pointed out he needed to be lucky to arrive at the scene of crime. They suggested he either advertised himself or expanded his activities, maybe start investigating small arguments instead of focusing on just crimes. Those were all good suggestions and Puolanka decided to think them through. He was still young and had his whole life in front of himself.

During late summer the clan was in crisis because the summoners had come back and decided to stay in the wood surrounding the lair. Everyone in the clan, even those who had not seen the incident, knew what the summoners had done and most of the clan was rather tense. Not as tense as during the event, according to Puolanka’s sources, but still very nervous. It slowly toned down as the summoners, who had said they wanted to atone, didn’t cause any problems to the clan but Valenca told she heard rumors about their potential second attempt all the time even when everyone seemed to be at peace. Those rumors had no valid source and Puolanka asked Valenca to not believe them.

Later the clan noticed their nightly weather forecast was late and after the clan went to look for Kyogre, their meteorologist, they were unable to find the bogsneak. Many were fast to blame the summoners but Karmiini, having seen what they could do first hand, told everyone to not blame anyone without proof. Leading to the summoning incident the clan had blamed Nemo or then new portal creatures for driving clan’s familiars mad when in truth it had been summoners’ doing. She did not want them to make the same mistake again even if the summoners were likely culprits. The judge refused to blame anyone without a proof.

Puolanka decided to uncover what had happened to Kyogre, especially after the clan found his remnants in the wood Ayla telling he looked like having been killed by his curse. During the summoning incident Kyogre had been inflicted with a curse that turned his head and chest ghost like while rest of the body had remained alive. Something or someone had disabled the spell that kept the two sides from hurting each other and the bogsneak had potentially suffocated as his head could not pull in air. That meant that magic had its part in the meteorologist’s death and Puolanka started to trace the bogsneaks trail.

Kyogre did not spent that much time in public and most residents only saw him when he was giving the weather report. Only Azul was sure she had seen Kyogre after the report she saying he had been making his way towards the temple. There were many reasons to visit the temple it housing the library, creative studios and salon to name a few but Kyogre was not really that type of dragon who would visit the temple. Only reasons anyone could think were he visiting Ayla, which he would have done through the spooky house, or to visit healers. Ayla had not seen Kyogre in ages and neither had the healers. It was a dead end, but then Valenca suggested Puolanka to visit Farkku, Kyogre’s brother, she assuming they were close because they were rarely seen in the lair.

Finding Farkku was rather tricky he wanting to avoid being found, because he didn’t want to work, and unlike how Valenca had predicted the brothers weren’t that close. Still, the visit wasn’t waste of time as Farkku had met with his brother mainly because the skydancer had noticed his brother to not look that great. They had changed few words and Kyogre had said that something in surrounding magic was making him feel sick. It was rather normal as Starfall Celebration always brought some weird events to the Isles. Kyogre had said he was going to see the healers after which Farkku, or anybody else, had not seen the bogsneak. Puolanka thanked the skydancer and returned to the lair he trying to not blame anyone yet, despite his strong feeling.

Puolanka and all of his companions were seeing a lot of parallels to Idaea’s disappearance months ago. Having strong feeling that Noonan had something to do with the situation Puolanka interrogated Malvadust. The healer had been outside around the time when Kyogre had vanished, his friend Fen could prove that. The reason for that was that his herb storage was always missing plants no matter how many times he refilled it. He believed Noonan was behind that to keep the older dragon from witnessing her “experiments” and to force the patient to accept to be her “test subjects”. Puolanka asked Noonan’s opinion about the accusation but the wildclaw denied them all of Puolanka’s companions, and Puolanka himself, being suspicious.

Puolanka was sure Noonan was the culprit. Kyogre had gotten sick and because Malvadust had not been present she had tried to heal him but that had not gone so well and she had hidden the body. She had also been one of the fastest to blame the summoners even though she generally didn’t care about potential threats no matter if they were a forest fire or return of the Shade. She was the most likely candidate but Puolanka could not proof his hypothesis. That was when Noonan’s psywurm came to see Puolanka it having been witnessing all of the Noonan’s “experiments”, including the one that killed Kyogre. Its reason to speak up was that it was getting sick of having its warnings, or anyone else’s warnings, be ignored by the wildclaw.

Puolanka took the psywurm to have it tell the truth to the leaders and Karmiini the leaders asking Noonan to be imprisoned. The clan held the trial against the healer some time after Puolanka telling the timeline of the events which he had made up while waiting for the trial. He also brought up the accusations that Noonan sabotaged her coworker and Malvadust brought up her long list of warnings. With the psywurm as witness talking against Noonan the wildclaw was not able to deny the accusations and she was not able to come up with defense. She had been given so many warnings yet she had done nothing to improve. Karmiini decided it was best for Noonan to leave the clan which she did with all of her familiars including the one that had exposed her. Once the healer was gone Karmiini complemented Puolanka’s work who decided he would spend his time investigating smaller incidents as he waited for something bigger to happen. He also decided he would lend a hand if someone needed his skills. He had feeling his life would get boring otherwise.

Small pile of pink petals.

Life in the clan was mostly peaceful. After Kyogre’s death the next case for Puolanka was Dio’s mysterious death around Night of the Nocturne. The obelisk had been found burnt outside the clan area but it was not clear what he had done there or what had killed him. Puolanka and his partners had studied the area with the rangers that found him but it was impossible to recognize any of the trails in there, or follow for that matter. The ground or the plants weren’t that kind that would keep the trails easy to track and Puolanka had to drop that case.

The year passed by, a new ancient breed had emerged from the depths of the sea and the earth holiday was about to start. Something though was off; the leaders decided to increase clan’s defense and they asked residents to report any and all bounty hunters that might sneak in. They though did not tell why and the clan soon started to speculate. Puolanka was curious of what was going on and he asked Valenca if any theory seemed more popular than other. The waitress shared the stories she had heard thus far but it was clear everyone was just throwing ideas around. No one knew what was going on and those who did remained silent.

Weeks passed by without an answer to the sudden security increase and it was about time for Night of the Nocturne to start. Puolanka had just woken up and he was preparing to properly get up when Tinker came to demand he got to work; Finlande had vanished and it was important she was found as soon as possible. Puolanka did not know why finding the skydancer was so important but it was clear he should not ask questions about that. He checked he looked ready for work, picked up the skull that hosted the spirit who helped him and stepped out with his two bird companions. He asked his companions what was the best place to start all of them agreeing it was Finlande’s nest, and so they made their way there.

Finlande’s nest had had nothing that caught the foursome’s attention and so they had stepped outside to ask if any of the diurnal dragons had seen the skydancer. Megan had seen her leave the nest and Fiona had seen her walk towards the cafeteria and so Puolanka made his way there. Due to the situation outside no one had come to eat yet and the building was pretty much empty when the foursome arrived. Valenca and Pix were inside talking and Puolanka got a feeling he interrupted something as he stepped in.

Pix asked Valenca to get the food ready while she came to talk with Puolanka. He explained why he was there and Pix told Finlande had arrived to eat there when Pix had woken up, like usual. She had made the skydancer grub salad and after she had eaten it she had become somehow unsteady. She had declined Pix’s help and presumably made her way to the healing offices, and that was all the nature ambassador knew for sure. She gave Finlande’s bowl for Puolanka to check and led him to her office where Finlande’s two companions were. They had stayed in the cafeteria as Finlande had left and the wolf just didn’t wake up. Pix’s guess was that it and Finlande had been drugged.

Puolanka took a closer look at the wolf and noticed it had some powder on its snout. He then glanced to the bowl and it seemed to have same powder in it. He asked if the chef knew where it had come from and she did not; she and Finlande had been the only dragons in the building at the time and the coatl had not put the powder in. Puolanka decided to believe her for time being, he couldn’t think of any reason for why the nature ambassador had kidnapped the water skydancer.

Pix turned her attention to her goblin and the two talked for a moment Puolanka only hearing one side of the conversation. Puolanka had visited the cafeteria often due to Valenca working in there and during those visits he had gotten to know Pix’s goblin. They were a bit prideful and picky with who they had a telepathic connection with. After the conversation was over Pix asked if Puolanka had been handed a privilege to be part of it and after he said no Pix repeated what the goblin had said. Around the time Pix had gotten Finlande’s food ready the door had opened yet no one had seemingly stepped in. Pix had not noticed the bell because she had had a random thought at that exact moment, possibly because of thought transfer. The goblin had suggested that maybe the one having given the drug was a ghost or an early mimic. Puolanka also didn’t exclude those able to turn invisible.

Since Finlande had apparently tried to reach the healing officed Puolanka went there next. Neither healer had seen the skydancer and while there Puolanka decided to check if the powder in Finlande’s food came from the offices. Malvadust and Lifeblood, Noonan’s replacement, led Puolanka to the storage where the old herbalist was fast to notice some of the stronger sleep medicines were missing yet neither healer had used them. Puolanka asked how the missing medicine worked and the way Malvadust described it seemed to line up with what Pix had told had happened with Finlande. No other herbs were missing meaning whoever was behind the theft and kidnapping had had a clear goal and they had known exactly what herbs to use.

After leaving the healing offices Puolanka had visited Fauna in her garden. None of the other diurnal or otherwise early residents had seen Finlande after she had entered the cafeteria and the gardener was the last he had not asked yet. Puolanka was a bit nervous about interrogating the imperial as she was deaf and he was bad with sign language. Fauna’s familiar though promised to act as interpreter and Puolanka asked what he had asked from everyone else; had she seen Finlande, or that dragon who looked like a swan. The gardener had seen her move to the wood though there had been something off with the way she had moved; her legs and wings had dragged on the ground. Puolanka thanked the imperial for the information and he went to study the place where she had seen the skydancer.

Puolanka had checked the area where Finlande had presumably been seen last time and there were clear signs of wings dragging against the ground. He had followed the trail but it had ended suddenly, as if Finlande had been lifted to the air. His companions though noticed some plants had their roots on the ground where the trail ended, and there was a clear line of that which indicated that the ground had been lifted which in turn meant the kidnapper had probably escaped under the ground. Even if Puolanka knew how to rise the earth it was unlikely he would find the stratum that was used as an escape route. Puolanka gave up for the night and went to ask residents’ whereabouts from the time Finlande had gone missing after which he went through the evidence he had gotten that night.

Despite of the bounty hunter threat that loomed over the clan Puolanka was sure the one behind Finlande’s kidnapping was one of the residents. They had known where clan’s herb storage was and they had used it instead of bringing the herbs from outside. For outsider that was a risky thing to do but not for an insider. Pix had told the culprit had possibly an ability to turn invisible and Puolanka had later revisited Fauna to ask if Finlande had looked like being dragged by an invisible being, he had forgotten that during the first visit. She had said yes which meant the culprit was not a ghost or spirit but possibly a dragon who was not large enough to carry the skydancer out by flying. Sadly Finlande’s dragging wings had wiped away the culprit’s footprints. The dragon had ability to turn invisible, transfer thoughts and possibly also control ground to some extent, and they knew something about herbs. Puolanka had his list of suspects but none of them seemed to be exact match, and he could not think of motive for any of them.

Puolanka spent nights trying to figure out who was the most likely suspect. He had realized that he did not know all the skills anyone had which meant he had only been able to eliminate few from the list based solely on the skills. Few had been eliminated due to having a solid alibi but none had been eliminated due to the lack of motive. Rumors had started to fly that Finlande had had bounty on her head, which explained why the leaders had warned about bounty hunters, and someone could have sold the skydancer as a way to earn some easy money. The lonely dragon was the easiest to catch out of the three who presumably had a bounty. It was also possible the bounty was not the motive behind the capture. Finlande had been kidnapped by spirits around the time undertides had appeared, before the bounty hunter warning, and that meant there could be something else going on.

After many nights of staring the list and going through the evidence Puolanka ultimately started to lean towards Naru being the one behind the capture. She was a mage and knew a lot of spells, she had often visited the healing offices and knew where the storage was, she lacked solid alibi for the afternoon when Finlande had vanished and she had started to be absent after the kidnapping had taken place. She had also been seen moving in and out of the wood, with eatable plants, recently and one of her familiars was missing. The young nocturne had a lot of evidence acting against her but Puolanka was not able to prove anything. If he asked where she had been she just said she had been doing some magical experiments in the wood where they posed no harm to the residents. She even had evidence to back that up.

The case was ultimately solved by an unexpected party when Svecica announced an important conference was being held yet no topic was given right away. Many seemed to assume it related to Finlande and Puolanka prepared to share what he had found thus far, just in case. The conference though didn’t seem to be held by leaders’ wish but by clan’s guardians’ wish as Karmiini called all five of them as she opened the meeting. The judge soon gave floor to Kupari who explained that the five demanded one to be exiled. That one was Naru.

Puolanka was expecting to be asked to talk during the conference but that didn’t happen. Instead he just listened silently as the situation was explained to him. Naru had caught the skydancer to keep her safe from the bounty hunters but also to do some experiments with her, or on her. The skydancer had ability to communicate with fate directly and Naru wanted to contact the entity and maybe change things around while she was at it. Puolanka was sure that was what had caused the guardians to act. The conference ended as Naru decided to escape instead of ceasing what she was doing she rising ground to slow down her pursuers. That gave her enough time to move Finlande elsewhere and the skydancer remained missing. Puolanka was not sure if he could have prevented that if he had found proof sooner. All he could do was mark the case as another loss for himself, and a proof that he needed to improve.

Traits

Puolanka is an arcane nocturne with purple body having a python pattern, pale purple wings with wavy pattern and white circuit decorating his whole body. Having been originally a spiral he has slightly softer spikes and horns that turn slightly down and he has small frills decorating his legs and arms though all hints of his past breed are very hard to notice. To keep himself safe from potential possessing from the ghost he carries with him he has cast a protection spell on himself which appears as pale runes across his body they glowing dimly in low lighting. He also has pale pink claws and eyes and he is often seen using mascara.

Though an investigator Puolanka looks more like a circus magician or a director that being part of his camouflage to not reveal his true job as soon as he enters the scene. He wears mostly purple having a purple tailcoat and bluish purple shroud covering his waist, glimmering purple hat, wing and tail covers, spats, gloves and knickers and dark blue cane with cyan smooth gem on the top. The gloves are meant to prevent leaving any fingerprints when he investigates areas while the wing covers and the cane are mostly just for his bird companions to rest on though the cane can also be used to reach something farther. Under his left wing he has the skull of the guardian whose spirit helps him to find clues.

Puolanka is polite in his speech and is generally clear, formal and understandable. He tends to be a bit quieter type but isn't afraid of speaking or imitating others being relatively good with that. Naturally he has clean Finnish accent but he can imitate many if he feels like it.

Puolanka is curious and observant dragon who likes to investigate and make inferences. When wanting to figure out something he is dedicated to solve the mysteries and find answers to the questions that may arise and doesn't like leaving things unexplained. He drives to be objective with his investigations and relies a lot on logic. He prefers to keep his emotions somewhat suppressed not wanting them to taint his analysis though he doesn't deny them and lets them out when not in need to be calm and objective. He is somewhat cautious but his curiosity usually gets best of him in almost all situations.

Puolanka isn't the most social dragon around he usually staying out of social events or if he partakes in social situations he usually stays as silent observer. He though isn't a full on hermit as he likes to occasionally join some groups, especially when they aren't that large, and just go with the flow. Puolanka is generally liked companion as though mostly quiet he is very hard to provoke, is capable solving hard situations and is not afraid to speak his mind when asked. He also knows his place and won't argue with someone who knows more nor will he let anyone boss him around.

Puolanka has three rather strange companions. He adopted his half-sister Idaea's ruffle glasswing Vitis when Idaea went missing and it has stayed on his side since. Vitis is smart enough to understand speech but can't speak Dragonian and most often it flies around the lair gathering information or just keeps its eyes on Idaea. Idaea herself became Puolanka's second companion after being turned irrevocably to a semi-large black nightingale with sparkly feathers and three eyes on each side of the head. She lost her ability to speak Dragonian when being turned but she has kept her sentience and can still understand speech, read and write as well as a bird can. The third companion is a ghost of the guardian who turned Puolanka into a nocturne and Idaea into a bird. They have refused to tell their name and currently "live" in the skull Puolanka carries around they being able to appear out of it if they so choose though they can't fully exit it. They have kept their abilities to speak and sometimes they teach new skills or spells to Puolanka. Their own skills are limited due to their spirit form though they can use some ghost abilities.

Small pile of pink petals.

Puolanka has inherited his parents' sharp senses and is very good with noticing all kinds of stuff from missing items to facial expressions. With his observation skills and curiosity he decided to become an investigator being natural with that and has learned some skills to help with that. Along with being able to levitate items and change their sizes he can use spell that allows him to see infrared and turn transparent allowing him better opportunities to stay hidden. He has also learned a spell to call out ghosts and he is rather skilled with mimicking all kinds of stuff both being learned after his breed change.
