Biography

Pahatar hatched when the hatchery was filled with dragons. She though hated that she feeling inferior to her coevals for having been the last one to hatch from her litter, and to be slightly allergic to magic it causing her eyes to run. To channel her feeling of inferiority she grew to detest what her fellow hatchlings liked, which was studying and having fun, she looking down to them for liking those things. If it wasn’t for Lydia, a fellow anti-fun wildclaw, Pahatar would have been alone in the hatchery. Watching her practice fighting kept Pahatar from getting bored.

Since Pahatar and Lydia had no one else to spend time with the two became good friends and left the hatchery at the same time after letting the "party mages" run out first. Unlike Pahatar, who wasn’t sure what she wanted to with her life she feeling insecure with her running eyes, Lydia knew she wanted to become a warrior of sorts, maybe a mercenary or a body guard. Wanting to learn to use sword as her weapon, thinking it was cool, she spent a lot of time with Rubikin leaving Pahatar wandering around the lair wondering what to do. While doing that she encountered the clan leader Tinker who, after Pahatar said she was doing nothing particular, made her join a hunting group. Pahatar’s insecure ego was offended by the order she being sure it was because of her allergy.

Near the sunrise, after Pahatar had returned from an annoying hunting trip, she met with Lydia who had finished her training for the night. Pahatar whined for her about her own night Lydia not seeing hunting as bad of a pastime. When Pahatar got mad for having her opinion dismissed Lydia pointed out that Tinker could have put her to a digging team, or even scavenging team, which were both worse than hunting, in her opinion. Pahatar didn’t entirely disagree with her fellow wildclaw and moved to whine why their clan was led by a shadow dragon when they were an arcane clan. Lydia thought there was probably a reason but whatever it was she did not know what it was.

The following night Pahatar hid into the library when Tinker was organizing gathering teams for the night coming out when the teams left. Lydia was again training and Pahatar walked across the lair taking in the scene. The clan was just about ready when it came to its building projects they having fancy temple and other buildings, and though Pahatar thought the lair looked too much like a nature clan imitating arcane the look of the lair was among the better aspects of the clan. Pahatar was not sure why that was the case but the clan was just a huge mismatch it looking like not part of any alignment even though they were closely tied to the arcane. She understood importance of having different elements to have them bring something arcane alone could not accomplish, but was it too hard to have them show some arcane pride since they lived there. Not even all of the arcane dragons in the clan, barely few, showed their elemental pride.

Pahatar felt there was no clear direction or goal for the clan, no unified ideal. She was sure clan that fractured could not be strong and felt there needed to be a change. Good start would be a change in leadership, have the clan be actually led by an arcane dragon and not some shadowling. She knew Alfa was technically their arcane leader but the old mirror did so little he might as well not exists. Morgana and Karmiini were also up there as clan’s leader’s right-hand dragon and judge respectively who, in Pahatar’s eyes, would have been great leaders but one was not wanted as a leader and the another did not want to be one. Julius had some experience with leading but the clan would become discount nature clan if he became a leader.

The options for an arcane leader were scarce and Pahatar was sure she would make a good leader with a little bit of practice. Tinker even was an old dragon and she could consider retiring any time now. Wanting to take her place Pahatar approached Tinker asking if she could consider taking her as her apprentice but for some reason the ridgeback declined saying she did not need apprentice yet. Pahatar was slightly offended by that she wanting the clan out of shadow’s grasp as soon as possible and she made that clear to Lydia when the two were spending time together again.

Lydia understood Pahatar’s concerns but also defended Tinker saying she was not that old yet, especially compared to older clans which had even older leaders still kicking. Pahatar understood that but she was still sure she would have made way better leader for the clan than what the shadowling did, and she could have made the clan truly great if given a chance. Saana hiding nearby agreed with Pahatar that Tinker should already step down, especially since she had already been tried to be overthrown at least twice. Saana was especially salty about the last attempt almost a year ago Tinker having denied Saana's right to be healed from her shadow plague because she had helped the summoners having tried to take over the clan.

Pahatar sympathized with the pearlcatcher who could not show her emotions openly or else the shadow plague would take over her. As the three talked just outside the lair Pahatar had an idea of taking the position of power with force, or magic, Pahatar needing to find right type of magical approach to minimize her allergic reaction. Saana told that the summoners had tried the same tactic the previous year but it had not worked, and she warned Witchi might reveal them to Tinker before they could act. She suggested they got rid of the fae but Lydia pointed out that the clan might notice something was off if she vanished she having heard that Tinker was very precise of where the fae was at any given moment. Pahatar told the other two to let their ideas brew till they would talk about it again.

Pahatar got herself a familiar with ability to see everywhere she teaching it to spy on the gossip fae and her familiar. She then faced her allergy head on and went to practice some spells she knowing she had elemental upper hand against the shadow dragon. That was painful, or rather irritating, experience her eyes running like rivers but she at least managed to heal Saana from her plague. She still wanted to find another way of dealing with the shadow dragon there being currently three dragons all with very little magical skills and only one with battle skills against basically the entire clan. Pahatar was frustrated to not have any idea of how to get rid of the ridgeback and spent her nights in the cafeteria thinking.

While in there she one night heard Otohime talk with Valenca about helping Glenn with their dream studies they believing dream manipulation could be used as therapy once mastered. Pahatar listened them talk and as she did so she started to wonder if dragons could be manipulated through dreams. Maybe she could use dreams to either make Tinker give her the leadership or make the residents want change. She knew that despite Tinker being the leader the final decisions were made by Karmiini and she usually listened the majority. The more she thought about that the better it sounded and eventually Pahatar went to the library to study dream manipulation before approaching Glenn about working together.

Pahatar mostly gathered information for her coeval and went through theories of how dream manipulating worked. The more they studied the topic the surer Pahatar became about the potential of it in her plan to manipulate the clan. She pushed Glenn forward with their studies they making nice progress until Otohime, their test subject, decided to stop working with them that causing Glenn’s research to halt. Pahatar knew she was close with having her plan fully realized and pushed both Glenn to pick up a new test subject, which they declined, and Otohime to take back her job she too declining. She whined about their situation to Lydia and Saana who both tried to convince Glenn to do as Pahatar had said but the pink wildclaw kept their head.

Glenn had not made progress in few weeks and Pahatar was talking with her allies what they should do if Glenn did not continue their research. That was when Suometar joined their conversation. She asked what they were up to Pahatar being annoyed that her older sister had clearly eavesdropped them. The feather cloud dragon promised to tell no one and even offered to help them Lydia telling what their goal was and why it was halted. Pahatar was not happy about that and wanted to scold basically her body guard but kept her mouth shut. That might attract more residents and she didn’t want to have their plan spoiled.

Suometar listened their plan and suggested they casted the entire clan to sleep and used them as test subject till they succeeded with their dream manipulation. Pahatar was still in too bad of a mood to talk and Lydia asked if the coatl could even cast such a spell. She had studied in the Observatory and knew the spell but it would still be huge of a task. Saana suggested they used Nemo as their energy source. The founder had been a powerful mage who had been crystallized to let her recover in peace after a huge battle that drained all of her magic. Saana knew where she was held and promised to steal her for them Pahatar deciding the plan was good enough to go through with. Before they though started Suometar suggested them to make a backup plan she suggesting them to retire to an old manor she had found in case their plan did not work. It would not have been the first time for takeover attempt to fail and escaping to a manor, if that happened, sounded great for Pahatar Suometar getting their backup ready before executing their plan.

Once the backup plan was ready Saana brought Suometar Nemo’s crystal she had stolen. The group had woken up early before the clan woke up and under the afternoon sun Suometar cast the spell. They were not able to tell right away if the spell had worked and waited for a moment to see if the earliest would get up. They did not and confident that the spell had worked the group made their way to Glenn’s nest to get them to do their work. The nest though was empty when they reached the wildclaw they having already gotten up. They searched the lair Pahatar’s familiar telling Glenn was approaching the central tree from library. They met the confused dragon in there Pahatar ordering them to get to work but they still refused. Frustrated Pahatar decided to do the experiments herself.

Pahatar knew how to dream travel but she had never tried that nor had she ever tried to manipulate dreams. Due to her lack of experience she tested on younger dragons not wanting to accidentally kill the older important dragons. She most certainly wanted to use Otohime as her test subject seeing her as reason for halted research she ending up dying like everyone else to whose dreams Pahatar tried to enter, due to reason she did not care about. Eventually Glenn had enough of Pahatar’s experiments and they asked her to stop she forcing them to either let her continue till she succeeded or do that themselves. Before they could answer Halti arrived he promising to do the work for her.

Pahatar had no idea of how Halti had avoided the spell Suometar not noticing her demanding glance. She though saw no need to complain Halti being able to dreamwalk and she demanded the two to try manipulate Karmiini. She was rather surprised when Glenn worked with them they delivering their message into the judge’s dream. Apparently they had managed to do something Glenn saying they needed to come back later to try again Pahatar knowing brainwashing to take some time, even through dreams. They visited Morgana and few others Pahatar noticing Tinker to not be in her den, unsurprisingly since shadow dragons were very resistant to dream spells, before returning back to Karmiini after a short rest.

When they were making their way back to Morgana they got ambushed by Silence she leaping directly towards Pahatar. The mirror missed thanks to Lydia’s reflects and nervous Pahatar turned around to get away from the lunatic killer only to see clan’s fire ambassador Tina approach from there. Suometar decided to face the fellow coatl and Pahatar turned again Saana, Glenn and Halti following her she finding herself face to face with Tinker Pahatar’s only remaining escape road being blocked by shadow ambassador Ayla.

Pahatar knew she was cornered and decided to face the shadow ridgeback she knowing she had upper hand. Saana was no match to Ayla who came to help Tinker Pahatar using teleportation to keep herself from being hit. Using magic made her eyes run but she was able to hold on against the shadow dragons thanks to constant teleporting and firing of magic. She was winning, at least it looked like that, and Pahatar started to get confident in herself she thinking about beating the shadow dragons back to where they came from, to shadows.

However, before she was able to take the victory she felt magic being drained from her and she fell suddenly having no strength to fight. She turned to see who had taken her magic and saw two weird primal-eyed dragons who immediately got attention of the older dragons. Pahatar had feeling she knew who they were and not wanting to deal with them she decided to move to the backup plan and started to make her way towards clan entrance Lydia, Suometar, Saana and Glenn following. On their way to the docks they met with Sisi Pahatar telling the pirate to take them to the manor she assuming Suometar had asked Sisi to come as backup plan. That was apparently not the case but the pirate took them all to the manor anyway in where Pahatar and her group rested while Glenn worked.

The manor was very old but it was large and Pahatar decided to make it her realm for time being. She still wanted to figure out how to benefit from dream manipulation and let Glenn use the manor as their dream laboratory they promising to do so only if she did not hurry them. Pahatar accepted the terms and Glenn got to work Halti having arrived after them helping them. They used the manor to offer customers services Pahatar greeting them warmly but hating how open Glenn was with them. She though could not do much without risking Glenn leave despite she being the leader of the house. She later allowed Noonan to move to their manor the healer having been driven away from the lair. Pahatar knew she was not the best healer but she had feeling having her around would benefit them greatly.

After recovering from the failed attempt to take the leader position in the clan Pahatar and the dragons with her started to renovate their new home. They started from the dream lab to get back to work as soon as possible, and because Glenn’s experiments could provide them much needed resources like money. After the lab was finished Pahatar let Glenn stop renovating and get to work while the ladies, and Halti, moved to organize the healing wing for Noonan. Pahatar would have wanted to get her own area done first but she decided, after consulting with her servants, that they should prioritize areas that ensured they survived.

It had been over a year since the group had settled in the manor and they had managed to get things running. Everyone had found their place in the manor. Pahatar was the chatelaine who greeted and took care of the visitors that arrived to meet Glenn who was the researcher and main money maker, Noonan was the healer for the residents, Lydia was the guard, Saana helped Pahatar out when needed or she took care of the garden the best she could and Halti and Suometar took care of the part of the manor they didn’t have use for. The older coatl occasionally helped Glenn while the younger one dealt with the ghosts that resided in the manor. They also made sure no one sneaked in to steal old antique items the manor was full of.

Glenn had managed to build up quite a positive picture of the manor and they had ships visiting their own little port bringing either food, tools or customers. Since there was so much Glenn could do just by themselves the dream services had queues every once in awhile and when that happened Pahatar housed their visitors. Some of them wanted a tour around the manor and the chatelaine was happy to show them around. However, she did not want them to enter the areas that were not in use both because they weren’t as nice as the used areas and because she didn’t want to risk them stealing old items in there. Few historians had either sent a letter asking if they could study the building or arrived outright to do so but Pahatar always turned them away. Historians were the group that would know what the manor possible had in store and Pahatar didn’t want to risk them taking something valuable, or useful.

Letters from the historians had gotten rarer as they had learned Pahatar didn’t want them into her manor. They though occasionally appeared and Pahatar had recently received a letter that asked if a historian could come to look for an ancient mirror. Not many letters asked for a specific item and Pahatar had feeling the mirror had some significance, maybe it was magical. She told the historian that the described mirror was not in the manor and told the two coatls to keep their eyes open for it.

It had been few weeks since Pahatar had received the letter and answered to it but the coatls had not found anything resembling the item. However, one early afternoon Suometar came to say she had caught few snoopers in the backside of the manor. Pahatar got up and informed Glenn and Lydia about the found as well as Halti who they happened to encounter on their way to the snoopers. There were two of them both being knocked out by a spell. Pahatar looked at the two. The skydancer had attended Glenn’s experiments less than a day ago though she was otherwise unfamiliar to Pahatar. The spiral though was more familiar. He was Richard, a poet from Ruoigu, their old clan, who had just recently published a poem collection. Either the skydancer was huge fan of his or she was also from the clan. Halti seemed to know the skydancer without problems. She was Finlande, a residents without a big role.

The two started to wake up and Pahatar placed her cane on the customer’s neck while Suometar held the spiral in place. Pahatar was not happy about her customer just sneaking in to do her own research and asked what the two wanted. The skydancer turned her eyes to Richard who asked about the mirror. Pahatar didn’t like the idea of the clan knowing about the mirror and asked why the two wanted the mirror. Though residents they looked like an odd pair to send to steal a potentially magical artifact. Richard said Marjatta’s client asked for the mirror the spiral saying she was an obelisk mercenary when Pahatar asked who that was. Lydia had seen a dragon fitting the description with Rubikin during Warrior’s Way and assumed they were the same dragon.

Pahatar processed the information. Marjatta’s client was most likely the historian who had asked for the mirror and she was a bit mad about that. She told Lydia and Halti to lock up the two snoopers and make sure they didn’t escape. They needed to be punished for sneaking in and she would talk with Glenn and Noonan about which one needed some test subjects. Before that she though had an angry letter to write to the desperate historian and she went to do that. She didn’t see a point in sending someone after Marjatta. She was a mercenary and was just doing what she was paid to do. Pahatar could hire her to deal with the historian, or she could become their third test subject if she tried to get the two out.

Glenn had managed to catch up with his to-do-list and all customers except Rosemaling had left the building. The young obelisk was a travelling artist and she had offered to make a painting of the manor as part of her payment. Her paintings were not just squares on a wall but long scrolls with a story and she had been working on the manor scroll for few days now. After waking up Pahatar had come to meet the artist she saying she was finished. Pahatar took a look at the scroll and it was truly quite captivating. Rosemaling’s lack of experience was visible here and there but the wildclaw was able to look past the little mistakes because the artist was still quite young. Pahatar accepted the scroll as payment and Rosemaling paid what was missing with actual currency. After that she left on the ship that brought few new customers and Pahatar welcomed them warmly.

Not long after that Suometar arrived to meet Pahatar. She didn’t hesitate and said the two captured dragons had escaped, not just the room but the entire building. Pahatar demanded everyone to their little meeting room where she demanded explanation from the ones responsible for keeping the two imprisoned. Lydia, who had guarded the outside area, told she had seen no one fly out of the building, Suometar told she had been trying to find the mirror and heard about the escape when one of the spirits arrived to tell what they had done while Halti had not noticed the escape. The door had stayed locked and neither of the captives had teleporting powers as far as he knew so he had assumed they had been still in there.

Pahatar asked Suometar if the spirit had mentioned how the two had escaped but the coatl said she had not asked as she had rushed to inform Pahatar. Pahatar did not like that answer and called Suometar “idiot” for not getting more information. The two had managed to sneak out which meant they could potentially sneak back in and either steal their items or attack outright. They had to be captured. Lydia recapped what had happened since the two had been captured. Since she had not seen anyone fly out, it was possible that they had hidden inside customers’ baggage. There had been two groups of customers that had left after the two were imprisoned but the first one had left so soon after that the two could not have managed to sneak out with them. That meant they most likely sneaked into Rosemaling’s bag and used that to get out. That made sense for Pahatar and she demanded they brought the obelisk back. Lydia promised to do that.

Pahatar had checked the new customers after which she had gone outside to wait Lydia’s return. Glenn had come to get some fresh air before the Sun set and they got to work while Halti had come to see Lydia return as well. Eventually they saw the wildclaw’s silhouette in the distance but she seemed to all alone, and there was something wrong with her flight. As she got closer it became clear that the warrior had been hurt and Pahatar felt fear growing inside of her. She screamed for Lydia when her wings gave in and she fell to the sea Halti and Glenn flying to get the wildclaw on the peak and to Noonan’s office.

Pahatar was worried of losing her guard, and friend, and she demanded Noonan to do what she could. She was nervous and swore to use the healer to revive Lydia if she failed to save her. The healer prepared her potions while Pahatar tried to talk to Lydia. She was still awake but didn’t seem to hear what Pahatar said or she was unable to answer. The guard had passed out by the time Noonan’s brew was ready and Pahatar walked back and forth hoping it would save Lydia. All she could do was wait and that was beyond frustrating.

Lydia was passed out for few evenings and Pahatar could barely sleep knowing her friend could die any minute. The wound had healed, thanks to Noonan’s brew, and Lydia was breathing but it was not guaranteed she would wake up and Pahatar feared she would need to find someone else to guard the manor. A week later Lydia finally woke up and Pahatar was beyond happy to see her alright. The guard told she had encountered the mercenary and their battle had ended with her taking the almost fatal attack. She had also been able to see the two had managed to find the mirror. Pahatar was both furious towards the mercenary and relieved to have her guard be alright.

After Lydia was able to stand on her own the residents of the manor held a little meeting to figure out what to do next. Though having written the letter Pahatar had yet to send it to the historian, she was angry towards the dragons that had sneaked into the manor and furious towards the mercenary that had put them to do so. They had not talked for a long when the light of the full moon hit the meeting room and Lydia was suddenly in a lot of pain. Everyone was confused when the guard took a form of a large grey dog it growling to the coatls and a chimera who were pushing it away from rest of the dragons. After Pahatar’s head cleared a little she was fast to turn her anger towards the healer and pushed her against the floor demanding explanation. Noonan swore she did not know what happened and Glenn tried to calm Pahatar down. The healer promised to figure out a cure for Lydia’s condition but Pahatar denied that.

Lydia returned back to normal after the full moon set she saying her memory was beyond hazy from the time she was a dog. Pahatar’s memory was also hazy from the same time period but for a different reason. She was very angry and swore to make the dragons having caused all the harm to pay. Despite all the opposition from the rest of the residents she placed a bounty on all four dragons; the two snoopers, the historian and the mercenary, and she wanted the mirror back as well. She didn’t care if the dragons were brought dead or alive but she wanted the mirror in one piece, and she was willing to pay to good for them. That would not fix Lydia becoming a weredog but it made Pahatar feel better.

Traits

Pahatar is an arcane wildclaw who had changed her appearance quite a bit due to needing to keep her identity hidden. She has dark grey body with paler legs and hands it having purple and dark blue blotches while her wings are striped white, pale purple and black her head feathers and tail tuft being same color. She has purple spines going from her head all the way to her tail tip the spines on her head being long enough to stand out from her head feathers. She has smaller spines decorating sides of her neck and her occasionally running eyes glow brightly they being meant to show off her power. Her natural colors though don’t get to shine as Pahatar has hidden them under a skin spell which gives her white and black feathery coat it having few purple spots and the feathers on her wings especially warm her up. She has camouflaged as ice dragon having escaped to arcane.

The area where Pahatar lives is cold but that hasn’t stopped her from looking regal. She has warm dark bluish grey cloak, wooden treads decorated with purple feathers covering her legs and white wooden mask covering her ear holes it being decorated with white feathers. On the sides of her head she has black feather clusters to go with her dark cloak and she has purple glasses they being enchanted to help reading in low lighting. On her right eye she has an eye piece decorated with amethysts she using that as an excuse for her title as the Weeping lady instead of her running eyes. To add to her regal look she has a white cane and empty lilac locket.

Pahatar has bright and clear voice with a little bit of a threatening tone occasionally. She though tries to keep it calm and welcoming as well as tries to sound regal she being self-acclaimed chatelaine after all. She tries to be polite but she can also be rudely direct. She has clear Icelandic accent.

Small pile of pink petals.

Pahatar is demanding and somewhat impatient dragon who upon knowing what she wants to accomplish wants it as soon as possible. She is a bit insecure of herself and wants to be part of the greatest group she can find she not really liking mismatched groups without clear goal or ideal. If not such a group exists she is confidant she can make and lead one herself and she doesn’t care what she needs to do to make that reality. She is not regal but she sees herself as fitting for such a title due to her intelligence, leading skills and decent magic skills. She hasn’t bothered to prove she has any of those but she assures both herself and others that she has those skills and no one should question that.

Pahatar isn’t the most social dragon and in general she looks down to social bonds. She sees need to have friends as weakness and having fun is annoying waste of time. She does have few friends though she sees them more as supporters or allies she being sure she is the one to make the final decisions in the group. She doesn’t like being challenged or disagreed with but if the other is able to say what and why without annoying her with their emotions she is willing to listen. She generally prioritizes herself over others, especially when it comes to safety, and she is not afraid to pick up favorites from the group she leads. When it comes to cross-group interactions her group always takes priority she not caring one bit what happens to another and to whoever in her group decided to align with them. Loyalty is important to her and if it is broken it won’t be easily fixed.

Pahatar has four companions all more or less pets or servants to her. Taival the ornamental eyewing was her first company she getting her to spy on a potential spy the bird having ability to see everywhere. Taival is gentle and mute communicating through telepathy with anyone she wants she being happy to chat. She is often with Pahatar usually sitting on her shoulders she being too large to sit on her cane. Obelisk the ashmane chimera was Pahatar’s second company the chimera following his master as body guard. It is smart and knows how to behave but hurt its master and it becomes a savage beast. Obelisk can’t speak and he understands only handful of words but he can be contacted with telepathy which Taival does when he doesn’t understand something. Silver the fae ferret is mute status pet who rides on Pahatar all the time because he is too precious to walk himself. He sees himself as important and is a bit snobbish but Pahatar herself doesn’t see him as more than a normal fetter living solely on instincts. Pillar the colubrid column is Pahatar’s spy it never being with its master visiting her only when it sees something it using telepathy to communicate. It is its only purpose and doesn’t know anything else.

Small pile of pink petals.

Pahatar is decent with magic despite being slightly allergic to it. She can use the typical teleportation and size altering spells, she can teleport short distances and she can shoot magic. She also knows how to enter someone’s dream but she has never been able to pull that off she usually forcing herself in which causes the dreamer to perish. Though able to use magic Pahatar prefers to not use it as it makes her eyes run.
