Biography

Pinkapi was the youngest of her litter and though the hatchery was full of hatchlings same age as she she didn’t bother playing with them. Instead, she was curious about familiars running around the lair and tried to learn more about them by observing and imitating them. She though was still young and rarely managed to approach a familiar either because she had understood its behavior wrong or because she assume it behaved same way as another familiar.

Eventually she managed to bond with a glowing pocket mouse and that led her to befriend a dryad that spoke decent Dragonian. With her help Pinkapi was able to learn how to read and understand different types of familiars and how to communicate with them. She enjoyed that so much that she agreed to trade her magic to ability to communicate with every familiar regardless of its intelligence. With that ability she started to take care of the familiars and spent a lot of time with them because of that. She listened what they told her about events across the lair and to make her job easier she paired them with dragons that seemed to need a company according to familiars or her own senses.

Familiars had their own area near the Hoard for easy feeding and Pinkapi pretty much lived there too. One night while going to feed the ever-growing herd of familiars Pinkapi noticed that the Hoard looked cleaner and more organized than it had previous night and her diurnal pets told a small fae had been organizing it while the Sun was up though she had not been able to move bigger items. The familiars showed a piece of paper that the fae, who Pinkapi saw sleeping in a zalis nest, had used to write something down while working and after taking a look she decided to help with the familiars. They moved the large items to where Pinkapi assumed the fae had planned to move them and recorded all the items to the list trying to not use too large letters and once that was done they went to visit the water-bound familiars.

Following afternoon Pinkapi woke up to noise coming from the Hoard and as she arrived to see what was wrong she saw the fae arguing with nearby familiars who tried to help her. Understanding that they couldn’t really understand each others she stepped in and told the dust smelling dragon that the familiars only wanted to help after watching her having had troubles the previous day. After hearing that Dusty guessed they had organized the Hoard while she had been asleep and Pinkapi admitted that. She offered to help the fae with her familiars and not denying the help they got to work.

They worked together till the Sun set and Dusty returned to her nest to sleep. Pinkapi and the familiars kept working following Dusty’s guide and while doing that she noticed how dangerous fae's nest actually was. Upon finishing the work Pinkapi called two elks to her while rest of the herd left. She picked the nest carefully not wanting to wake up the fae and tied it to antlers of the elk and after that did same for another zalis nest and put it on another elk. She put Dusty’s lists in along with her messages to her before leaving telling elks how she wanted them to serve the fae.

At first Dusty was confused for having her nest tied to elk's antlers and she had some difficulties with adapting to their presence but Pinkapi was there to help her. Since the familiars in the small clan needed something to do to not cause harm due to their boredom they often helped with organizing the Hoard and worked a lot with Dusty during afternoons. After she went to sleep Pinkapi and the familiars finished the tasks before moving to feeding, grooming or making life for water-bound creatures easier in the lair.

Later the clan was ordered to move to the Focal Point and Pinkapi helped. Having earned an official status of familiar keeper she mostly worked to get them to the new lair and helped others to explain the events to their familiars. She also helped to carry items to the new lair in where she worked to make a new familiar area near the new Hoard so she could be near Dusty with who she had become good friends. The new lair was huge when compared to the old one and having so many familiars to look after Pinkapi decided to let them roam freely if they wanted. With that she hoped that those for who she couldn’t find job could find something to do and that they’d find potential dragons who would need a company as the clan continued to grow.

Some time after the clan had moved to the new lair one of Pinkapi’s familiars came to inform her about a seemingly depressed dragon. Pinkapi wanted to see them and the familiar led her to the dragon who Pinkapi recognized as her brother Nuoska. She asked if he, who she remembered having loved snow a lot, was feeling alright seeing him so blue. He claimed to be but everything Pinkapi sensed told otherwise and she asked again.

Nuoska was silent for some time before admitting feeling flawed and unwanted and was unsure what to do. Pinkapi told her brother that was not the case but he claimed she was lying and attempted to leave but Pinkapi’s companions blocked his way. She was happy for their fast reaction and asked Nuoska to come with her she wanting to make him feel happy. He turned around and followed Pinkapi but she was able to feel how unwilling he was.

Pinkapi left Nouska to familiarize himself with her nest and left to help Dusty telling the remaining familiars to cheer her brother up. Nuoska was not very willing to open up and even after few nights Pinkapi was not seeing the snow loving dragon despite a pile of snow in the nest. She came to encourage him and it took some time before he dared to approach the pile of snow and started plying like he had done as hatchling. Pinkapi came to the pile too and placed a snowball on top of Nuoska’s head hoping he would ”declare a war” against her. He picked it up and like Pinkapi had expected threw it her face followed by another. Pinkapi accepted the challenge and threw snow back not even having time to make a ball out of it. Upon finishing the ”war” she saw smile on Nuoska’s face and felt like having accomplished her goal for time being.

After that Pinkapi let Nuoska live with her while she started to look for reason why he acted a bit weird. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking taking count how she usually acted but it clearly prevented him from feeling happy. Though not a bookworm she picked up books trying to figure out what might be the case with Nuoska and even asked her clan mates if they knew something. After months of researching and asking other dragons she though had not found anything and decided to send few of her Dragonian speaking companions to travel the Isles hoping they could find something from other clans.

Months passed by with minimum reports from Pinkapi’s friends sent to travel the region. They did come to tell they were alive and still looking but other than that they rarely had anything to tell. Eventually one night a longneck mage returned and told they had found a group that specialized helping dragons having same symptoms than Nuoska and they could help. Pinkapi was exited to hear that and went to ask him to come with them to meet the group sending messengers to other seekers as she walked across the lair.

Pinkapi found Nuoska where she expected to find him and explained the situation to him. Nuoska was not as thrilled as Pinkapi and she had to assure him that nothing bad would happen and that she would be with him. He stood up and they went to pick some snack from Dusty before they left the lair the magi showing the way to the place.

Eventually they reached the meeting place of the group calling themselves Starcatchers and they were welcomed. Smelling nervousness her brother was feeling Pinkapi explained them with what Nuoska had difficulties ignoring his annoyance. She then stayed silent as the one showing the place for them asked him questions staying near as support. The demonstrator then told them they could do some tests to see if Nuoska’s situation was what they expected and asked them to visit another evening Pinkapi understanding that was because of Nuoska’s stress.

The tundra siblings visited the place regularly Pinkapi sitting near while Nuoska did the tests allowing him to pet her frosted pocketmouse when stressed. Eventually the demonstrator having went through the test result verified that Nuoska was on the spectrum. Nuoska didn’t seem to understand what it meant and the demonstrator understanding that offered a representative who could help Nuoska to both understand him better and help him to learn the things that he found hard. Pinkapi thought that sounded great and accepted the offer before Nuoska could even open his mouth.

They returned few nights later and were introduced to Nuoska’s to-be therapist Glitterink. Pinkapi was happy meet her though Nuoska didn’t seem to share that staying silent when the spiral tried to talk with him. Understanding how he was nervous Pinkapi answered Glitterink’s questions instead and upon arriving back to the lair showed her places while Nuoska walked to their nest.

While they were walking across the lair they met with Bluebird who joined them correcting any misnaming Pinkapi did. Bluebird was basically clan’s new-member-introducer and she having far better knowledge of the lair in general Pinkapi let her do the introducing leaving them after they had passed the familiar keeper’s, her, nest.

Nuoska started his therapy the following night after Pinkapi had already come to help Dusty and she didn’t interact with her brother much after that. Instead, she continued her main job taking care of clan’s pets, pairing them with dragons needing company, helping Dusty and anyone needing help with their non-dragon companions. She barely thought of her brother and if it wasn’t for her roaming familiars she would have forgotten about his therapy due to her bad memory.

Much later Nuoska came to visit Pinkapi with excitement shining on his face telling how he had finished his therapy. Pinkapi was happy about that and introduced him to a wintermane minstrel who could act as his companion from now-on and she believed he could appreciate his helpful nature and ice magic. Nuoska was a bit confused at first but the centaur knew enough about him to not be bothered by that. They left to help Nuoska start his new life and Pinkapi went to thank Glitterink giving her her own companion as well.

Small pile of pink petals.

While Nuoska had been dealing with his therapy Pinkapi had started to notice that some of her familiars vanished without a trace. She started to investigate that with her remaining familiars and few of them were able to tell where they had ended up. Turned out that clan’s alchemist Chemical had been capturing them and used them in his experiments going so far as to melt them alive. Pinkapi was not happy with that and told that to the fae her familiars showing their anger for him but the alchemist didn’t took Pinkapi seriously at all and left the conversation with a lot of meaningless words.

Pinkapi tried to convince dragons of higher status to do something to make the alchemist stop but they couldn’t do any more than she could. Incapable to do anything she spent her time trying to figure out how to save the familiars Chemical had captured when she was not allowed to enter his lab being constantly reminded about what he did by her familiars. One night she though heard that there had been an accident in the lab in which Magic had fallen into Chemical’s cauldron. The clan was investigating how that had happened and noticing how the lab’s door was open Pinkapi went in and saved the only familiar that was still alive, a glowing pocketmouse, ignoring Chemical’s demands to get it back.

Pinkapi brought the mouse to her nest keeping it in its cage not wanting it to run away scared. She checked if it was alright and immediately noticed something weird about it: it had pink eyes. Pinkapi tried to ask the mouse things, mainly about its eyes and what the monster had done with it, but despite her ability to understand animals she could not understand it. She kept it in the cage not willing to let it go until solving what had happened to it and took care of it hoping that trust would help them to understand each other.

Few nights later Bluebird came to tell Pinkapi that clan’s healer Heather wanted to meet her. Pinkapi arrived to the healing offices where the pearlcatcher was taking care of a weird looking crimson emperor and she guessed that was what had happened to Magic. Heather asked if she could understand what he tried to say but like with the pink-eyed mouse she could not understand this pink-eyed familiar either. Confused by that she started leaving and almost walked into Stardust as she entered the room. As she was leaving Pinkapi thought about the mouse she had saved and before she left she turned to ask Stardust to visit her later feeling the scholar could be helpful with it.

Stardust came to see Pinkapi and her familiars later when she had already managed to forget she had asked her to do that. Her familiars reminded that she had done that and after remembering for some time she remembered why she had done that. She picked up the cage in which the pink-eyed mouse was and gave it to the wildclaw. The scholar didn’t seem to understand what Pinkapi wanted her to see and she explained how it was still alive despite having been captured by Chemical and that it had pink eyes. That made the scholar curious and she took the mouse with her promising to take care of it and solve why it had pink eyes.

Few nights later things turned great for Pinkapi when Chemical was captured for having turned two dragons into familiars, second one having been the mouse who was actually Secret. She knew that the clan was going to held a trial against the alchemist and during that she and her familiars could be able to demand compensation for what he had done. There was no way to bring the lost familiars back but he was forbidden to ever again do what he had done and Pinkapi was happy to name the guards for the alchemist to make sure of that.

She named four familiars to look after the fae, one that knew alchemy and could read and three who didn’t need to sleep. After that was done Secret came to thank her for having taken care of her while she was a mouse and Pinkapi gave her a protective pet for the future. After things started to settle down Pinkapi called all her familiars and told them to inform her about any and all familiar mistreatment to make sure something like the alchemist case wouldn’t repeat. After that was done she continued her life like she had done for years now trusting her familiars to keep her up to date with clan’s events.

Life carried on rather peaceful the guardians keeping Chemical in check but eventually a new dragon rose to threat clan's non-dragon residents. Amputeer was an orphan nature fae who lived with the science family she having started to do some experiments with animals mostly replacing their limbs with lightning junk. She though didn't seem to do that out of malice even though some of her test animals died and Pinkapi was very bitter towards her until fae's skills helped a hurt grey river flight to get its leg back. After that Pinkapi lowered her harshness towards the younger dragon but suggested her companions to stay away from her.

Later Dusty brought news from Trading Post where she usually sold unneeded items that there was a skydancer whose Pinkapi's memory named Zoo who had her herd of familiars and allowed others to help take care of them. Pinkapi didn't usually go outside the lair but decided to visit the skydancer to see someone else doing basically the same job as she. Pinkapi got along with her nicely and decided visit her occasionally to let her familiars spend time with their species mate they rarely having that luxury in the lair itself.

Things were overall very peaceful until during early summer a Forbidden Portal was opened it letting weird creatures to the dragon world and eventually to the lair. Though looking beyond weird Pinkapi noticed that the creatures were rather intelligence and she started to study their behavior her gift not granting ability to understand them right away. However, one evening when she was trying to communicate with them with her older companions the more sentient ones started to complain about a headache while less sentient turned hostile being soon followed by the sentient ones and the new creatures. Pinkapi tried to calm them down but for some reason they didn't listen to her nor could she all of a sudden understand them.

Eventually Pinkapi had to retreat from her hostile herd they actually starting to attack her and upon getting away from them she noticed every familiar in the lair being turned hostile dragons asking for help with them. Pinkapi did the best she could to help getting some help from Fen but eventually both had to admit they had no idea what was going on or how to solve the situation. They though were demanded to figure that out and the two got to work.

Both Pinkapi and Fen were confused about what happened the familiars not calming down even after evenings no matter of what they tried to do. Lack of familiar help hurt Dusty a lot Pinkapi lending her hand when not trying to figure out the situation she feeling like being in dead end. Others though demanded her to focus on the situation and Pinkapi had barely any time to rest with solving the situation and helping Megan the clan having other problems to deal with along with those. The clan had their theories and Pinkapi put a lot of effort to not fall for them the new creatures being also affected by whatever caused all of that meaning they were not behind the hostility, and though Traitor had past with mind-control this was too much even for her.

Weeks passed by and Pinkapi struggled to stay awake with all the work. One evening she suddenly noticed Fen being gone and wondered what happened to him he being more suited to solve the case thanks to his job as scholar. With him gone the clan mates demanded Pinkapi to solve the case and not being able to sleep she had basically fallen asleep standing when an earthquake woke her up. As she was trying to realize that the clan was now walled ArcaneShade and EarthShade stepped forth they telling that they would summon the Shade in few days causing a lot of fear in the lair.

Chemical and Poison were with the Shades and as they were talking about what would happen to those who opposed them Poison demonstrated how he could sent all of the familiars to attack anyone Pinkapi realizing he was behind the hostility. She was a bit mad due to his betrayal she having saved him from Blood after he had been turned into a king parda. She wanted to make him pay but she was too tired to do anything and even if that had not been the case there was very little she could do to the nature ambassador. Unable to do anything she decided to find Fen eventually remembering having not seen Dusty in evenings either and helped her out of the sealed Hoard as the clan counted down days.

As the summoning approached the summoners had been turning dragons into familiars Pinkapi helping them the best she could in the middle of all of that they also being affected by Poison's curse. The day of the summoning arrived Pinkapi being half asleep when the Sun was eclipsed and something took control over her body she hearing someone demanding her to submit to Them. She was not sure who it was and denied ending up battling nearby dragons until something cut them free.

The clan was fast to notice that and started an attack against the summoners Pinkapi almost passing out after hearing familiars confused questions. The short time during when they had been controlled had broken the spell on familiars and Pinkapi, after telling them what had happened, ordered them to attack the imperial with full force all of them full of anger. As Pinkapi watched imperial fight back increasing amount of enemies Fen eventually showed up he looking confused and fresh. She explained the situation to the fae before he continued his tour the clan winning battles left and right. After the imperial was beaten familiars surrounded Pinkapi all of them being happy and she fell asleep in the middle of all of them.

Pinkapi later woke up in her own nest to where the familiars had carried her. The clan was slowly recovering from the incident few wounded familiars having gotten help from nature mages having arrived to help the clan. Poison had been exiled, Shades had ran away and Chemical now lived with his guardian mirror, inside of it to be exact. After weeks of stress life returned back to normal and Pinkapi enjoyed it with her loyal companions eventually obtaining the ability to understand the newer creatures thanks to one of the portal wyverns.

Traits

Pinkapi is an arcane tundra having purple body with pink legs, throat and pale purple wings all being striped. Her tail tuft and mane are solid purple and her once furry horns have shed to reveal her tan horns. On her legs, wings and sides the fur has bleached a little bit with age making it a bit blotchy. Her fur is always very messy especially around her chest that has longer fur than rest of her body, excluding her legs that have long fur, and her regular sized tail tuft and mane. Unlike other arcane tundras in the lair Pinkapi has an undercoat and is somewhat fluffy because of that. Pinkapi’s face has many animal like features with lynx like ear tufts to long cheek fur and clear goatee with no fur in between. She also has goat eyes, a gift that signs her ability to understand and talk with animals regardless of their intelligence level. Though it didn’t occur normally on dragons until later Pinkapi has possessed those eyes ever since she befriended a dryad during her early days as familiar keeper.

Pinkapi barely wears any clothes mostly because they would be torn within minutes. She has a simple pink cabbie with different, real flower every night, a violet scarf around her neck and another one covering her wings, tan belt, white scarf hanging from her shoulders, similar colored tail band and tan and light brown bracelets on each of her legs that act as things familiars could use to ride her and are very torn because of that. Other than those Pinkapi doesn’t wear clothes.

Pinkapi has very clear and kind voice which many consider to be weird. Her speech is very colorful as she often mixes familiars voices to her speech making identifying her accent extremely difficult. Her speech is best known for having almost every item, animal and dragon be called based on their scents rather than their actual names.

Small pile of pink petals.

Pinkapi is kind and helpful dragon who is almost always happy. She though isn’t oblivious and notices if things aren’t right around her if not through her own senses then with the help of her familiars. She doesn’t often interact with other dragons preferring to be with her familiars but if she hears someone is need of a support or a friend she is willing to help. Her help is usually giving lonely looking dragons a company from her familiar herd as she knows she doesn’t really know other ways to help. Along with giving dragons company Pinkapi also helps dragons who have hard time with their familiars and thanks to her language skills she is very good with that.

Though often kind and helpful Pinkapi can also get mad. If she sees someone mistreating others she doesn’t empathize with them but rarely acts knowing someone else is better suited for that be that a dragon or a familiar. If the one being mistreated is familiar, however, she will act and depending on what is going on and how the words works she could become dangerous. Her familiars do listen to her and are almost all very loyal to her acting if she says so but they can also act with their own will and not sharing dragons’ ideals can do a lot of harm. They also don’t always understand normal dragon speech and Pinkapi knows others can't order them away if she stays silent. She though prefers to avoid those situations.

Pinkapi is a familiar keeper and is surrounded by them all the time. What familiars she has with her and how many there are varies between nights but there are usually more than ten at once. Pinkapi loves each and everyone of them like her children even if they are living with other dragons but she hasn’t named a single one of them because of her bad name memory. Instead she calls them either based on their scents or species and trusts them to remind her if she has forgotten something important.

Small pile of pink petals.

Pinkapi is a very regular tundra having somewhat bad memory and great smell. She can remember situations somewhat decently but remembering names of anything is pretty much impossible for her. Because of that and because of her great smell she instead calls things based on their smells and sometimes she calls them whatever it is she associates with that smell. Because of that it is common that she calls someone with tens of different names throughout the year.

As a young dragon Pinkapi traded her magical abilities for an ability to talk and understand animals regardless of their sentience. Though she can’t use even the basics of the spells her current ability makes for her loss and she doesn’t really care about being able to cast spells. If she needs anything she can always ask a familiar with fitting abilities to do that for her and more often than not they are willing to have something to do. Even though Pinkapi can’t take control over her familiar, not that she wanted, she is able to make more instinct driven familiars to remember her words even for years with no problem.
