Biography

Purukumi was the only male of his litter but he got along with his sisters nicely. They were all very outgoing and slightly rebellious towards adults Purukumi liking to party loud when needing to be quiet. That though changed some time after they all reached maturity and Purukumi started to pay attention to how handsome some of his clan males looked. His sisters who had started to become more rebellious and rude having grown sick of being bossed around heard about that and made clear they didn’t like that. Purukumi didn’t know where they had heard that and he didn’t like that he ending up being pressured and bullied because of it.

Some time later Purukumi got more siblings and having lost his connection with his litter sisters he hoped to get closer to his younger ones. Sadly for him his sisters told them all sorts of things about him and they started to mock him too but not all. Purukumi noticed that Mustamalva did not hang out with his siblings and also didn’t pressure Purukumi either. Wanting to be closer to his family Purukumi tried to approach his younger brother and though he didn’t bully him he thought about Purukumi the same way as the others and he was sad by his cold reply.

Purukumi spent a lot of time alone either because others didn’t want to be with him or because he stayed alone. He liked neither but he didn’t really see a way out of his situation and felt often depressed and ashamed. During clan’s observatory project Aspen often came to cheer Purukumi up and though he was happy about her support and the fact she didn’t avoid him because the lies his siblings told about him she wasn’t enough to counter his siblings words.

Not long after the observatory was finished Purukumi had more siblings and he was afraid of them becoming like the rest. Two of them started to spend time with their older siblings giving Purukumi cold glances but before they started to pressure him like the rest all of Purukumi’s siblings were revealed to plan a revolution and they were captured. He watched slightly confused as they admitted their plan at the trial and were sent to the Observatory but at the same time he kind of felt happy knowing he would not need to stand their mocking any longer.

After his siblings had left Purukumi’s life got a slightly easier but he was still bit of an outsider in his clan. Having been rejected by his family because of his sisters’ words Purukumi tried to become closer with his two brothers that had not been part of the revolution group. Malvadust who was from the youngest litter didn’t drove Purukumi away when he came to meet him but Purukumi was able to smell annoyance from him making him feel awful. Mustamalva on the other hand made it very clear he didn’t want to interact with his older brother even when they both had been mistreated by their siblings.

After that Purukumi carried on with his life hiding his emotions the best he could. Though he was no longer avoided like a plague after his sisters stopped spreading false information about him Purukumi was able to sense that most of his clan mates, especially other males, were rather uneasy around him making Purukumi feel awful. Every now and then Aspen came to cheer him up saying that he had nothing wrong but despite of her kind words he felt opposite and seeing how well she came along with her sister June he only felt worse.

Purukumi carried on with his life doing chores to find himself a meaning but as time went on he started to consider leaving the clan. He had tried to connect with his family with not much to be proud of and he was given cold glances from few of his clan mates. Purukumi though wasn’t sure if he wanted to wander off alone without knowing if he could find someone who would feel same way as he did. He delayed his decision many times and ended up living miserable life because of that.

One night when fixing stuff found during gatherings Afrodite joined Purukumi and as they talked she asked if he was any closer to his parents if his siblings wanted to avoid him. They had divorced after the revolution attempt and at least Parcha was busy with his job and he wasn't sure if he wanted to try get close to his mother her memory being absolutely awful. He though decided to try her parents finding out that Siren had her own insecurities with her voice. That did not solve Purukumi's problem but it made him feel less bad knowing he was not the only one with issues with themselves.

Life carried on the same Purukumi doing chores and joining foraging groups almost every night. One night happened to be the first gathering trip of a young snapper called Vaapukka who joined Purukumi for guidance. Purukumi rarely had company during gatherings and he was more than happy to help younger dragon and was even happier when he decided to join him the following night too. Purukumi was happy to have company but he was nervous of what would happen if Vaapukka learned he found him very attractive for a snapper.

Time went on and Vaapukka became close friend to Purukumi even though he tried to avoid that. They joined gathering groups together and just hanged out when in the lair but Purukumi was always nervous about failing to hide his developing feelings. One night after returning from the night’s gathering trip the two walked outside the lair to be alone. When there were no ears to hear their conversation Vaapukka said he wanted to talk about something and Purukumi felt his fur falling off.

The snapper asked Purukumi how he would sum up their relationship and Purukumi answered they were friends before he had even heard the question. Vaapukka didn’t seem to notice Purukumi’s shaky voice and calmly told he thought they were more. After hearing that Purukumi, after understanding what the snapper had said, tried to correct his answer saying he actually felt the same but was ashamed of it. He expected having understood Vaapukka’s words wrong and expected him to leave him but the snapper said he already knew that which didn’t make Purukumi to feel any better. Vaapukka explained that someone had told about Purukumi’s struggle but he didn’t told who.

After that Vaapukka promised to help Purukumi to get rid of his shame as that was pointless and dragged him to do some shopping with him. He had asked to not look ashamed if dragons looked at them but that was hard especially when falling gembond gems wanted to leave the unstable ship causing more dragons to stare at them. They circled the booths for hours till Purukumi decided that if he wanted to leave his old, ashamed self behind he should start by throwing his old pelt away. They visited a mage selling gene scrolls, bought three the most wildest genes and used them to change his looks at home.

With his new look Purukumi dared to show his pride and didn’t shame being together with Vaapukka. He also started to make some friend who had always thought he was a grumpy loner and had nothing against his actual, more outgoing self. With the acceptance Purukumi rediscovered his fun-loving side and started to have fun with his clan mates with no shame whatsoever. He even went to shop for the most colorful outfit he could think of ending up buying a lot of rainbow silks to make sure others saw his pride.

Purukumi enjoyed his life after having been able to leave his shame behind. Having been able to become more close with his clan mates Purukumi tried again to become closer with his remaining brothers in the clan. Malvadust had become clan’s healer since the last meeting and did not share mistreatment from his siblings so Purukumi didn’t try to push himself into his life that hard. Mustamalva on the other hand was someone with who Purukumi wanted to be close but that was heavily one sided feeling.

Mustamalva didn’t want to interact with his older brother but Purukumi was persistent trying to start conversation with him whenever he came close. He had learned that approaching the always so pessimistic dragon didn’t work. Mustamalva worked as clan’s border guard and looked always grumpy circling the lair like every leaf could be threat to the clan and every dragon could be untrustworthy. Purukumi wanted him to see not every dragon was like their siblings and that life could be fun but Mustamalva never heard him making Purukumi think if there was more in his head he couldn’t understand.

One night the tragedy hit the clan when two dragons were found dead, one of them being Mustamalva. The news hit Purukumi hard as it meant he couldn’t learn to know the dragon he had really badly wanted to know. Purukumi stayed next to his brother’s body while others were looking for the guilty sharing the scene with his mother Arctica who now had only two of her children left out of eight she had had.

Some time after the incident the clan figured out that the one behind the deaths was a pearlcatcher called Nobu who Purukumi knew from the revolution group from way back, the same group which his siblings had joined. Nobu had been among the few that claimed to have done nothing wrong and stayed in the clan under the eye of Mustamalva. The revolution had taken Purukumi’s siblings turning them against him and now the holdover had taken yet another one from his family.

That made Purukumi angry but after the relic of the revolution was found dead he started to calm down. Vaapukka, who had been with him throughout the sorrow season, suggested they’d left the tragedy behind them and returned to their normal lives but Purukumi wanted to make sure his mother was alright before moving on.

Arctica who was usually very optimistic and happy dragon had been very heartbroken since Mustamalva had died and Purukumi was not sure how to help her. Her memory was not the best and the sorrow would most likely remove his words from her head if he tried to comfort her that way. Instead he asked her to knit Vaapukka a scarf hoping doing something would distract her mind from the loss. He visited her every night to check she had not forgotten what he had asked her to do and after the night he didn’t need to remind her he was sure she had moved on as well.

Not long after that Purukumi started to hear rumors that Mustamalva was not resting peacefully and that his spirit rampaged in the wood. Purukumi was listening when Kupari explained that the spirit remained because it felt it had still something to do. Purukumi wondered if it thought Nobu was still alive and wanted revenge. He decided to figure that out, stole Nobu’s pearl that was kept in the Hoard and went to the wood with Vaapukka.

Vaapukka didn’t like the idea and wanted to go back to the lair but Purukumi felt calm calling his brother’s name. Eventually they heard someone running towards them and the fiery eyed spirit was seen behind the trees coming closer. Purukumi turned to face it asking it to calm down, the one it was looking for was dead. The spirit stopped just before the tundra so close Purukumi was able to see its incisors inside its mouth. After Purukumi was sure the spirit was not going to bite him he took the pearl and put to the ground letting the spirit observe it.

Spirit smelled the pearl, hit it few times and eventually turned its back walking away fading slowly. Purukumi watched as it vanished to the wood and after listening the wood for some time he picked the pearl. It had lost it shimmer after Nobu’s death, that usually happened to pearlcatcher’s pearls when their owners deceased, but it kept its purple hue. Purukumi had hoped that would convince the spirit that it could calm down and returned the pearl happy to know his brother had gotten peace.

That though turned out to be temporary, though for a very long time. However, after the clan changed its name and decided to start a new temple project someone somewhere opened a portal that led weird creatures into the dragon world some of them arriving to the lair. At first Purukumi didn't pay much attention to them excluding the weirdness they emitted but soon enough all of clan's familiars started to act weird. That alone was bad for Purukumi he being bitten many times by either his or Vaapukka's pet due to the sudden change but then rumors started to spread that Mustamalva's spirit was also driven to act hostile.

Purukumi and Vaapukka tried to contact Mustamalva to find out what was going on Purukumi getting a nasty wound to his face because of that. Because they could not do anything to the spirit they decided to calm down Arctica instead. The clan had tried to make sure she did not know that Mustamalva's spirit was not resting peacefully but she seemed to have figured that out anyway and was rather afraid relating to that. They tried to keep her calm and if they wanted to do something else Vengel promised to look after the blue tundra.

Things varied between bad to almost catastrophic the following weeks the clan not able to tell what was going on. Purukumi and Vaapukka were signing to Arctica when a sudden earthquake caught them all off guard all three of them seeing how earth rose to form walls around the lair. As they tried to figure out what happened Shadow stepped fort declaring that the clan would be sacrificed to summon the Shade in few days. Purukumi barely believed his ears as he heard that and decided to withdraw to their nest to process the information Arctica getting very scared between the males.

Arctica stayed in the nest many nights while Purukumi and Vaapukka took turns to get them food and check out the lair. It had fallen into a near perfect chaos after the announcement and none of them was willing to spent there more time than needed. The day of the summoning arrived and the three decided to leave the nest to see what would happen. Arctica went her own way while Purukumi went to check their friends before the potential end. Once the eclipse hit its peak a wyvern appeared it taking control over everyone in the lair asking them to subdue to Them. Purukumi denied the "offer" and found himself fighting with Vaapukka till the wyvern lost control over them.

The clan was in total chaos after that the residents and reinforcements trying to defeat the summoners. Neither Purukumi nor Vaapukka wanted to battle so they joined the group trying to prevent dragons turned into animals from wandering off or getting hurt in their state. Once the transformed dragons were turned back into normal, among them Arctica, Purukumi decided to lend a hand to help his brother to take care of all the wounded or transformed. After that clan life slowly recovered Purukumi sadly finding out that Mustamalva's spirit had not recovered fully it still remaining tainted and becoming hostile towards everyone with strong magic. He was sad about the change but couldn't do anything the spirit avoiding him. All he could do was continue with his life he having suffered rather little in the incident.

Small pile of pink petals.

To keep his thoughts busy Purukumi helped with clan's building projects but that didn't help that much he keeping thinking if he could help his brother. He knew there was very little he could do but maybe he could find way to fix the damage done and someone more capable to actually do that. All the powerful mages from fire domain he saw didn't really help with that and after they left he decided try again if he could do something to Mustamalva.

The fire dragons had left just before Night of the Nocturne started and to avoid being ambushed by mimics he waited till it was over. Everyone knew the wood was dangerous especially after the summoners had ran away no one being sure if they were hiding in there and to avoid causing harm to Vaapukka Purukumi sneaked into the wood by himself. He also knew the snapper really didn't like ghosts and he didn't want to force him to encounter them if there was no need.

Mustamalva had been attacking powerful mages since the incident but Purukumi not being one himself had hard time finding the spirit. He wasn't able to find a single sign of the spirit despite his best efforts and often returned home tired and mentally beaten. He was not in the mood for the ice holiday and spent his time in the wood trying to find his brother but the spirit just didn't want to show himself. In the middle of the holiday he however managed to find something he encountering a very small dragon looking like the ones Purukumi had heard about. The little dragon asked what he was doing in the wood Purukumi not sure if he answered or not everything getting blurry until he seemingly blacked out.

Purukumi wasn't sure what had happened but he woke up in healing offices feeling like having not slept, eaten or groomed for a week. He was given huge bowl of food, which felt small considering how hungry he was feeling, and either because it had had something sleep inducing in it or because he had been so tired he fell asleep soon after consuming it. Once he woke up again feeling a lot cleaner he was told that he had been missing for a week having been puppet to a small spirit. Though feeling hazy Purukumi was able to connect the spirit to the small dragon he had encountered.

Purukumi stayed in the healing offices until recovering from the time he spent as spirit's puppet feeling awkward being so close to his only living sibling yet feeling so distant Malvadust only seeing him as patient. Vaapukka told how he had gotten Purukumi saved he being speechless after hearing he had gotten Mustamalva to help him. Purukumi was not sure how he was supposed to react to that and when alone he did cry a little bit. After getting out of the offices Purukumi took the first opportunity he saw to sneak into the wood where he almost fell when Mustamalva actually showed up. The spirit didn't seem to care about him but Purukumi still wanted to thank him for what he did and asked him to take care of himself. Mustamalva left without a single word and Purukumi returned the lair before Vaapukka was able to notice he was gone.

Traits

Purukumi is an arcane tundra with pink spotted fur, lilac wings and mane with pink patches and he has dark blue spines running down his jaw lines and back all the way to the tail tuft. He has very impressive mane, bushy tail and long fur but he isn’t very fluffy as he lacks undercoat. He has groomed claws that are often painted with different colors to create a rainbow and his ear tufts often get the same treatment while he has made his eyes pale with a vial. He is known to be rather big for a tundra.

Purukumi is very hard to miss as he is easily among the most colorful dragons in the lair. He wears rainbow silks on his legs, arms and wings and around his neck, waist and tail, prismatic starsilk circlet, wingsilks, shawl, cloak, socks, sleeves and tailwraps on and under them, has an orange and pink unicorn horn decorated with a prismatic gem on his forehead, colorful earrings and the whole looks is tied up by a pink rose assuming he hasn’t eaten that. He looks a bit silly with the feminine silks especially when he is otherwise very masculine but Purukumi is well aware of that. He has chosen his outfit to show he isn’t ashamed of who he is and that he doesn’t took himself seriously being a party dragon who he is.

Purukumi has energetic and kind voice and it often has encouraging and supporting tone. It is very masculine, strong and easy to understand but it also has feminine undertone. He speaks a lot and rather fast and he can speak for long time before feeling like needing to catch his breath. He has strong Swedish accent.

Small pile of pink petals.

Purukumi has always been very outgoing dragon liking to party without worrying about consequences. He is though very acceptance seeking feeling easily down if he sees himself being looked down. Though social Purukumi is prone to avoid contact when feeling down and isn’t very good at looking for help for himself easily leading him to suffer with his problems if someone doesn’t come to help. Still, when he feels accepted he is ready to make himself look like a fool in order to have fun and doesn’t mind being seen a bit silly. Despite being a bit stupidly behaving time to time he is understanding dragon and doesn't make joke out things that should not be jokes. He has felt crushing loneliness and its different forms and he knows serious things are serious for a reason.

Purukumi values family bonds especially between siblings which has been part of him since he spent time with his own sibling and it became stronger after they denied him. He has tried to get closer with his siblings but with barely any success and though his siblings show very little interest towards him Purukumi cares his siblings a lot. He doesn’t usually interact with them not wanting to interrupt their jobs but he keeps an eye on them in case they need help and having no one else to help them. Purukumi is a social dragon and values close relationships and even though his family is the most important thing for him he cares a lot for his friends and his partner Vaapukka and if need to be he is there for them.

Purukumi has a pet bellus glamourtail he calls Gau. It has been enchanted to be able to breath outside water and to be able to swim in the air. Like Purukumi it is also very eye catching and it has friendly competition with its owner to see who stands out more. Though Gau can’t talk it has clearly somewhat proud nature and it likes to tease but that doesn’t bother Purukumi who likes to compete with his pet time to time. Gau doesn't usually join Purukumi when he is performing during clan's parties instead showing itself to other familiars. However, it is often seen with Purukumi during everyday life staying in the lair all the time swimming around its owner's head showing its colors when he is in the lair. Gau also seems to be able to feel offended which Purukumi finds a bit assuming for his fish boy.

Small pile of pink petals.

Purukumi isn’t a mage because of his tundra memory that only allows him to remember family things without problems but he can still cast very simple spells. He can levitate small items and change their sized but not enough to be noticeable. Along with those he can create light lines ranging from pink to pale purple and even full rainbow but other than looking pretty they don’t do anything and fade away fast when exposed to light of any kind. He is also good singer having baritone voice though he can make it higher if allowed to warm up.
