History

In the beginning humans, dragons and the undead shared the world. The reign of dragons ended with the development of the humans, being hunted and killed by them.

But there were some exceptional strong ones that were able to survive and terrorize the human settlements in their territories.
Among the dragons one dragon stood out, Mushhush, the golden dragon, worshipped and feared by the humans who saw him. He was immortal, lived thousands of years and was known for his ravenous appetite.
Since he favoured young women but was lazy, he chose young men, promised them his immortility if he should ever die, and let them lure his victims into his cave. If he became sick of the men he killed them too.

But Mushhush was outsmarted by the human girl Lilith and finally killed by Samael, a young man he had used to lure women in. The immortal soul that Mushhush promised during a gamble to Lilith fled into her, making her immortal but also destabilizing her character.

Lilith became the first demon as well as the strongest living being on earth and the children she gave birth to formed the oldest demon races.

Confronted with the demons some human cultured began to worship them as deities while others started to kill every demon on sight. The demons that seeked a peaceful life traveled to the human cultures that respected them and defended the humans against their own, evil brethren.
But not all of the demons - and even less of the dragons - had the opportunity to live without fear of persecution.

Drakon, Lilith's second son, finally brought his kind and the dragons together and they created a new world, the magical demon world, that would provide them a home without humans – and protect the humans from their kind. With the help of powerful mages and a sky and athmosphere that is merely created and maintained by constant magic supply the demon world came into existence.

Drakon was crowned the first king of the so-called underworld while the dragons formed the dragon council to reign over them.

Many centuries later Drakon disappeared without a trace.
The demons started wars over his succession, a war that lasted centuries.

From the ruins the Holy Council emerged, a council with seven chairs that was taken by demons from different - mainly the oldest and most prominent - species. They were supposed to lead the underground from then onward.

The races:

Dragons:

The oldest race that was reduced in numbers by the humans. There are several kind of dragons, some able to fly, some living underground, some exceptional huge, some very small. They are able to survive in different habitats.

Humans:

The humans populate the earth.
They forgot the existence of demons and dragons, calling the records of them myths.
Since some demons still need human flesh or blood to survive there are still demons in need of hunting in the human world, as well as some that live in their world by choice.
There are also a lot of demons that have one human parent, being called „impure demon“.
Demon hunters, humans that know of the existence of demons, are killing mercilessly every demon they find in the human world.

Undead: As live came into existence, the undead emerged as well. There are two forms:

Ghosts: the soul of a deceased being. They normally cannot live for more than some days on their own and die quickly.
Some ghost forms like the bajang are feeding on other ghosts and are able to survive years with their energy.
If a being pledged their servantry to another, as long as their master lives, they may become ghosts that accompany their master even if theyself died. These ghosts are able to live longer, protect their master and even attack other with the life energy their master provides.
Most ghosts are invisible and can made visible by achieving magical energy of a living being.
Rage spirits, ghosts that are fueled by pure hatred, are able to get into other being's bodies. If they are stronger than the ghost of their host they are able to take over the host's body.
Zombies: the body of a deceased. They might continue living on their own if the deceased did not feel their life goal fulfilled.
They are not very intelligent and unable of complex thinking, mostly following the paths they still remember from their live.
Zombies are used as servants by many demons, they are friendly at most.
If a Zombie devoures flesh, even by accident, they become a Ghoul. Ghoul lose all their intelligence. They only urge to devour more flesh and attack everything at sight. However they can be impressed by an stronger opponent and decide not to attack this one in particular.

Demons:

The youngest race.
There are many different forms and species, some are able to transform, some can use magic, some are looking humanoid, some do not.
Most demons are living in the demon world, some among their own kind and some in bigger cities.
Hybrids are demons that have parents of two different species. They are usually not as powerful as their parents and sometimes are even unstable in character and power.
After Drakon's disappearance the hybrids were robbed of every right. Hybrids are allowed to be killed if they have no pureblood master to protect them.
There are gladiator-like fights where hybrids fight against each other. A good fighter is worth much and hybrids are even created artificially to maximise their strength.
Artificial hybrids are known for having character meltdowns where they attack everything around them and to die early.

Present day:

Samael survived many thousand years as a rage spirit, taking body after body and learning from each body. He aims to destroy the demon world, the demonkind and dragonkind alike.
While living in the shadows he searched for supporters, formed alliances. As the dragonkind recovered in the demon world from being hunted by the humans, their size grew and their territories soon did not keep all dragons repleted. As the other territories were taken by demons who were not willing to leave their homes they soon saw no other option but taking territories by force. This led to angry demons that lost homes and families due to dragon attacks and made it easy for Samael to find allies.

Since Lilith herself is the one providing the energy for the magic in the underground Samael would make the demon world to crumble when Lilith dies. Without their save world the demons and dragons would be forced back into the human world and destroyed by the advanced humans. But Lilith is sleeping hidden in undestructable stone while she provides her powers for her children's world.
Samael needs to make her wake up.

For this he took the child of a vampire and a succubi which had fitting characters for an offspring that would unknowingly help in his plan. He let his right hand Scarlett mess with the hybrid's genes to make him unstable and gave him a reason to search for Lilith.

When Samael's presence became known among the demons, Anubis wanted to take action and defeat him as soon as possible. Being confronted by the spirit of inaction of his fellow council members, Anubis and Alvan took it into their hands and started a riot, killing part of the Holy Council in the process.

Just as Samael thought the chaos in the underground was playing into his hands.
