Ely is the older brother of Matthias and Angelika. His family had been demon slayers for generations and, unlike his siblings, he as the oldest was given to a teacher to learn the craft. He got used to a strong dialect due to his upbringing with the teacher. Although the three siblings did not see each other much in their childhood they shared a strong bond. When they got older they formed a demon hunter team of three.
Even though Ely is the eldest, his sister often took command. As demon slayer they sweared to protect the human world from demons and to kill every demon that shows itself among humans.
During their work Ely was bitten by a vampire. In order to not let the vampire toxin spread and turn him he should rest the next days, but when his sister was in danger Ely jumped in and died a human death. He was fully turned to a vampire. All three siblings decided to keep this a secret. He used to only drink blood from his siblings to survive.

Ely is usually very calm. He likes to gather information and knows a lot about demons. His eyes are very light-sensitive so he usually wears sunglasses to block the light out, even in buildings.
During his work, after he turned, he hunt down some Crocotta and met the deadly wounded Liza. He saved her by turning her to a vampire and stayed in the area to teach her everything she needed to know about her new life. They began to date and married some years later.
Although Ely seems to be very cool and distant he is actually very family-oriented, loves to cook and clean. Ely is very proud of his childen and insisted on training them himself.
