Banners wave merrily in the breeze and dragons mill about both above and below the waves at the various attractions. Amid all the brightly-decorated booths and stands and games, a rather small one catches your eye with its very drabness. A faded scrap of sign above the entry formally spells out "Saturnalia Security" and a newer (but much more messily written) notice alongside the door says "Help Wanted". Do you enter?[/size] ~~~o0O0o~~~ Welcome to my rather haphazard attempt at a choose-your-own-adventure (henceforth reduced to CYOA) game for the Saturnalia! Mostly we're just here for fun, although there are a couple of rewards as well. [b]All participants will gain tickets towards the main Wavecrest Raffle[/b] (inflight or outflight, as applicable) and good performance (or luck!) may land you chances for a couple other prizes out of my own coffers as well! (if I can figure something out xD) Interested? Well, keep reading! [b]To participate, you will need a dragon.[/b] Yep, any dragon, so long as its your own, 'cause other folks might object if you use one of theirs. Make sure you like it, because you can't change dragons midway through. Oh, and it should be an adult, please. Saturnalia Security is hardly likely to hire hatchlings! Got one? As you play, you'll see that each story-post has a unique code up at the top (like [b][START][/b] at the top of the first one) and at least a couple of options at the bottom. When you post a reply, [b]first include that code[/b] for the post you're replying to. Then, [b]tell us what choice your dragon makes[/b] out of the options. If you'd like to reply in RP fashion to give us a better sense of your dragon's personality, go for it! It might even affect the outcome of your choice a bit... *wink* Please note though, that all you [i]have[/i] to do is indicate a choice; if you don't have the time or the inclination to RP it out, that is totally okay. 1 - This event is only running through the Saturnalia (April 26 - May 2) which means we don't have a lot of time. I've planned to make it short, but still if you can't reply at least once a day, you might not be able to finish the game, so please take your time availability into account when deciding whether to join or not. If things are close to an end but not quite there on May 2, I may extend the game for a couple days to let folks finish. However, tickets for the main raffles will be determined on May 2nd so that drawings can occur.

2 - I will try to be online quite a bit and will make an effort to check in at least three times a day for new replies. In this way I hope to accommodate most folks even in other timezones and keep things moving, but please be patient with me. It may take a few hours before you get a reply. (And I do sleep xD) My biggest downtime is therefore likely to be in the midnight and early AM hours, FR time. I might still manage to reply in that window, but don't be surprised if I don't. ^_^' Sometimes I just can't get online 'til noon (my time is FR+2).

3 - There's no 'one true way' through this CYOA, and following the same path somebody else took might not turn out the same way for you. ^_^ So just pick your favorite options and see where it ends up!

The inside of the Security hut is rather dim and dreary, devoid of most any decorations. A massive guardian with a scarred face reposes alongside a desk littered with parchments. He's shifting through them, muttering to himself, when you enter. After a long moment he looks up. "Eh? Got something to report? This better not be another false hue and cry about an escaped water bear..." He glares at you in annoyance.

Eventually you manage to explain that you are there about the Help Wanted sign.

"Oh, praise the finny Tidebutt himself, I was afraid nobody would respond to that. We sure could use another set of claws around here." The guardian eyes you measuringly and shoves two papers out of his stack towards you across the desk, a battered pen rolling with them. "Well now, we've got two openings, though really there's not much to choose from. Lot of fetching and carrying and running around either way. Still... pick the one you want, sign the requisite paperwork, and I'll get you started."

When you check out the forms, you can see that they really are quite similar. Apparently there's one position helping out the mage division with their scrying tasks, and the other position is 'support' for the watch dragons on patrol. Same thing, different methods. Looks like all you need to do is sign your name to acknowledge the intent for temporary employment during the festival and the standard waiver absolving the security department of fault or responsibility in case of any harm that may come to your person or belongings as a result of the employment.
