Pinged everyone who participated, in case you were interested in seeing the journey map of Amyas' Birthday Tour! This post took far longer than expected and is far longer than intended. (And this was me keeping the explanation of events
brief)
Thanks for your help in showing him around the world! And remember if you want to read the journey that this took place in August!
Do also take a look at the next post with a bit more info on the sub-lineage update ~
Amyas started his journey after a long farewell to his family, which involved much fussing and ensuring he was adequately packed for the long trip.
Thore had helped him plot his course to connect all of the clans he had been invited to in the most direct way without any backtracking. Without such thorough planning, his journey would no doubt have taken three times as long.
He flew across the water to the Dusk Sanctum for his first visit, where
Aurelius greeted him and gave him the tour of the Mystic Shadow Clan territory. Amyas was introduced to so many welcoming dragons, he was a little overwhelmed, but that was nothing compared to the incredible dinner they hosted for him. They had included all of his favourite foods. He couldn't believe dragons he had never met cared so much!
The following day, Amyas was extremely well nourished and rested, giving him plenty of energy to resume his journey. He was sad to depart such kind company so soon, but he had much still ahead of him.
He made his way along the border of Dragonhome and Tangled Wood, and then above the Scarred Wasteland. Despite providing him with a map,
Rhoeas was able to meet him at the Parched Canyonwalks, and led him to the Village of Quartz. There Amyas met
Velu, who greeted them at the gates with much excitement. They had both grown so much since they had left Meristema. Amyas was proud of them, and deeply touched by the clan's effort to decorate for the occasion.
It had been difficult for Amyas to leave the beautiful gardens of the village, he took one last look in the morning before going on his way. The next stop was Hoverview Vale where he met
Amiri, who gave him a comfortable space to rest after his flight up. Once he'd got his energy back, he was glad he'd taken the opportunity for a break as the dragons of this clan were a colourful, curious bunch, and asked many questions.
He got to meet his niece
Moegi and another relative
Delphinium. He promised to pass on their greetings to Moegi's
father and Delphi's sister
Tempest when he returned home.
Amyas' trip up to the Observatory was simple - such landmarks are well signposted and have clear, well maintained paths. The Riddleseeker Clan resided here, and before Amyas could find where precisely they were located, he was bowled over by a blur of white fur. The gaoler pup shouted excitable greetings and Amyas knew he was in the company of little
Ambrose.
Jasmine arrived, breathless, not long after, with many apologies.
Amyas had many family members residing here - more than he'd known. Jasmine's own family had been born and raised at Riddleseeker and many had stayed. Amyas gave them the wellwishes of Jasmine's son
Aspen, who they were all glad to hear of. He was then introduced to
Milkyway and his large family as well as the other family members who resided in the clan.
Meeting so many dragons was tiring, but he still found the time and energy to catch butterflies with Ambrose liked he'd promised in his letter.
Thankfully, the next stop was only over at the Crystalspine Reaches in the Forgotten Pantheon.
Lasumi greeted him warmly. It was a calm and quiet affair in the small family home, and Amyas didn't mind at all when
Savir and
Sereza wanted to got out and see their friends.
Besides, this just meant more of
Asentru's gorgeous chocolate and blackcurrant cake to himself! He would need it - the next leg of his journey would be the longest thus far, almost spanning the width of two whole territories.
Amyas was incredibly grateful for the extra slices of cake Lasumi had packed for him, but even so, he was starving by the time he reached the Black Death Clan in the Blight Sanctum.
CarolinaCrown made sure to take him directly to the kitchens before finding him a comfortable spot amongst some cushions were his other family members began to dote on him.
Some he remembered from when they were hatchlings -
Paisley and
Woodnymph.
Survivor he knew a little better with the length of time he'd stayed at Meristema. He was introduced to new faces
Florian,
Rhys and
Hopdust.
Amyas told them the tale of
Conitu, Hopdust's son, who had an.... interesting accident with his cauldron. As well as update Rhys on his brother,
Hortensi.
They made sure to keep him safe in their territory, but as tired as he was, Amyas only stayed one night. He didn't want to push his luck with DRONE.
It wasn't far to travel until he was in wind territory, and there were many useful air currents and balloons for transportation. The Aergate was another prominent landmark that was easy to get assisted transport to.
His nephew
Seige met him there, and was quick to get him settled into his Clan. Amyas was very surprised by not only how many family members he had here too, but how many others had been born in Meristema. Even if they weren't blood relatives, he knew all of their parents.
He spent his time there listening to all of their stories, and making notes to relay to their families back home. In the evening, by candlelight, he recited his own stories of all the dragons they knew back home and the recent escapades they had been involved with.
He resided at the Aergate for an extra day, preparing himself for his flight across the water into harsher weather. Amyas wasn't used to the cold, and was grateful for all the reminders to dress warmly before he left from his family that resided in the Southern Icefield.
He was grateful
Bettany had been watching out for his arrival to the Cloudscape Crags. He fell in a heap in the snow, his wings finally given out from the long flight, and if left to his own devices, he might have stayed there and frozen over. Thanks to Bettany's keen sight, he was only there for a few minutes before she swooped down and helped him up.
An imperial was there too, to carry him to the clan. Amyas felt rather foolish and embarrassed, he knew many hardened warriors lived here who might (perhaps rightly) consider him weak and pathetic. The imperial wasn't any relation, Amyas didn't expect to meet
Ferrous and his brother
Alastrom, as the letter seemed to indicate they were not the most sociable of dragons.
He walked the last part of the journey himself, to make the best impression he was able to when arriving in Clan AXQU. The dragons were very busy here, but welcoming and Amyas didn't feel too poor of a guest to fall asleep as soon as he made his way to a warm bed.
The next day, he did briefly see Ferrous and got to meet another relative,
Tomorrow. With the clan being so active, Amyas didn't want to get in the way, so he took his leave later that afternoon. It wasn't
too far to get to the Frozen Sanctum. He could walk and rest his still sore wings.
Once there, he was greeted by
King Meowah, as
Evalie was still in hibernation for a few more weeks. The Clan was very gracious in hosting him, even if his cousin couldn't be there to do so. They made every effort to keep him well fed and rested, and even had mages see to his sore limbs with various ointments and spells.
Amyas bid his kind host farewell the next morning, feeling much better. As much as he enjoyed their company, he was keen to reunite with his sister back at the Cloudscrape Crags. He left well wishes from Evalie's brother
Jinn to be relayed to him when he awoke, and that perhaps in autumn Aymas and Jinn would return together to see him.
Upon arrival to the Lumiera Kingdom Amyas was promptly tackled by his sister
Wisteria. When they'd picked themselves up out of the snow, he noticed their little brother
Elwyn had come to meet him too. He'd already grown so big since he left Meristema!
They eagerly introduced him to the clan where he met
Sunset. Amyas told him all about his
brother's business, crafting pots and trinkets, and the love he'd found in one of the clan's
first sons. He was certain they would have made a gift for him to bring Sunset if they'd known he was visiting his home.
Amyas knew he'd need to tell
Petiolare how his precious daughter,
Autumnheart was flourishing. He met
Lumi,
Jasmine and
her daughter,
Heather and
Amour, but spent most of his time during the visit with his siblings. He hadn't realised how much he'd missed them.
Another sister,
Nerine, lived close by and Wisteria and Elwyn went with him to visit the Sierra Kingdom to see her. Autumnheart joined them to see her brother
Loam. Both Loam and Nerine were terribly excited by the additional guests, before Loam fretted that he needed more cake to go around. Once he finally emerged from the kitchen, all agreed that his hot spring baked cake was divine.
Amyas stayed two days, reluctant to leave his siblings and not looking forward to his next large stretch of uninterrupted flight across the sea. Loam, a strong warrior, offered to accompany him to make the journey easier and Amyas was externally grateful.
They rested on the black shores of the Ashfall Waste to catch their breath before they parted ways and Loam headed back. Amyas continued to Cinderslag alone. The temperature difference to the Southern Icefield was dizzying at first - the cool sea breeze hadn't prepared him for the volcanic heat inland.
Verity met him and led him the quickest way to her home. It was cooler inside, much to his relief. Here he met her mother
Uraziel and half sister
Rhapsody, as well as
Pistachio and his son
Torpe. Amyas promised to tell
Tenui all about his young grandson when he returned home.
He felt a little out of place amongst all the tiny, bustling fae of the clan at first, feeling big and clumsy in comparison. He got used to it quickly enough, and they helped him prepare for his next trip across the Shifting Expanse to the Turrets of Goldensparc.
At the Stormfeather Clan, Amyas was glad to reunite with another sister,
Dash. He was amused to see that she was still as lively and talkative as he remembered. She eagerly introduced him to family he'd never met:
Harlequin,
Rusty,
Fluorite and his son
NelKir. Amyas did remember
Strawberry though and was glad to see how happy she was. She was proud to show off her daughter,
Stella, much to Stella's embarrassment.
He told Harlequin how her son
Prim had changed and become more confident than when he arrived. And they all talked easily well into the night.
In the morning Amyas headed off to Moonportal where he met
Shamrock and her clan.
Mochi was there too, and Amyas would definitely tell their parents back home how well they were doing.
He enjoyed helping with the harvest, it reminded him of home, and he found himself missing Veda and his daughter. Perhaps Shamrock reminded him of them.
When the work was done for the day, he went to meet
Petra, to be introduced to her clan as it was so close. They sat together, listening to birdsong and watching the sunset. Amyas stayed the night when he grew too tired to watch the stars, and found his heart settled by such a calm evening.
The next morning Amyas made his way to the water to find The Idyllic Isles near the Drowned Santum.
Azza met him on the shore and proved to be an excellent tour guide. She encouraged him into all of the quaint shops to see their wares and speak to the dragons there. Because of this, the tour took almost the entire day but Amyas wouldn't have wanted to spend it any other way.
At the end he met
Polo and her other children,
Morfinn and
Narrik. Amyas was sure to tell them about the adventures of their other siblings
Harrow and
Fasciatia, as well as Narrik's daughter
Caiatra.
Azza insisted he couldn't leave until he'd seen absolutely
everything, but once he had, Amyas made his way towards Sunportal. Here he met
Asmafar who had arranged a traditional celebration of honouring the strength of a bloodline.
It wasn't far to get to Clan Nightsong in Wispwillow Grove.
Nishant and
Ersas greeted him there, and took him on a tour. Amyas marvelled at the crystalline cavern and the underground forest. It was all so stunning that he could barely take it all in, and it only got more incredible when they took him to the lakeside for dinner and Ersas sang for him.
The next day, Nishant directed him to Emperor's Wake where the Lucia Clan was based. There he caught up with his nephew
Torval and his mate
Demise, who got him settled with the most wonderful tea Amyas had ever tasted.
Temperantia came by to gruffly give her welcome and departed again just as quickly.
Asta and
Zibo joined them shortly after, the latter insisting no one should even
glance at the bag his was carrying.
Amyas gave his thanks and went on to Sundial Terrace before the light faded.
Dethra had told him they were preparing a great feast that all the clan hunters had worked hard for, and he didn't want to delay the festivities.
Thankfully, he was just in time, and Dretha got him into a seat between him and his children. The six of them talked all over each other in their excitement and curiosity, wanting to know all about his journey so far. There was much to tell - he had nearly reached the end. Tomorrow he'd make his way back to the familiar trails of the Viridian Labyrinth, although he had many stops to make there before he got back home.
Amyas awoke early, almost feeling like his homeland was impatiently calling him back. Not able to resist the pull, he left as soon as he could. He wasn't unable to resist the urge to roll around like a pup as soon as he touched down on lush grasses.
He went first to the Gladeveins, and had lunch with
Rustoc and
Darkmaros, and was very interested to learn about the work they'd been doing. A metalworker and a doctor - those were fine jobs! Certainly more useful than a storyteller.
Kidok lived close by, so Amyas stopped in to see her next. Her
mother had been keen to give Amyas we wishes to pass on when he had recieved an invitation to this clan. Kidok introduced him her
mate and they accompanied him to the Worldedge Wetlands.
Here he found Gladeshadow Province and his little brother
Ock and his children
Olyvia and
Orphie. There were many, many family members residing at the Province. He met
Snowlace and her extensive family, as well as
Oni and hers, with other relations besides. There were a great many parents and children to these dragons back a Meristema, and Amyas did his best to answer their questions regarding their loved ones.
Once again a great feast was held in his honour, but it felt like a celebration of the whole family. Even being so close to home, he stayed the night. There was no reason to rush his visits, and they'd celebrated late into the night.
In the morning he made his way to the Shrieking Wilds, first to the Bird's Eye Clan.
Soren greeted him, and Amyas suggested they go together to Oliander. It was only a short distance, and they could meet more family there.
Here was an older brother Amyas had never met:
Aden. He was very excited to tell Amyas about his charge. It seemed strange Amyas had never visited sooner, given how close they lived. It should need to travel the world to see his own brother!
Ivily and
Prized were introduced and Amyas told Prized about
the siblings she had never met, who lived with him and thought they could visit too.
Soren made his way home after they shared some festivities at Oliander, and Amyas continued on to the Behemoth. His first stop before he reached the great tree was a Clan that held more of his
relatives than any other, besides his own home. Most importantly one of his daughters,
Wildernessa, lived there.
She was out hunting when he arrived, but
Sunfall showed him around, and Amyas became quite occupied greeting everyone and hearing what they'd been up to. As soon as he saw Wildernessa, he stopped hearing what they were saying (which was terrible, as he was such a great listener usually). He got a bit tearful to see her so big and strong and independent. His siblings back home had been known to call him his father's son where his emotions were concerned.
His daughter rolled her eyes affectionately and wrapped him in a hug.
He spent the night at Kazul's clan. With so many dragons to catch up with he needed that time. Wildernessa sensed his hesitation to leave the next morning, and went to Gladebough Village with him.
Chibirose welcomed him to the Rainfeather Clan, and Wildernessa took her leave, not wanting to be absent from her clan for too long. Chibirose was young and excitable, easily distracting Amyas from any melancholy.
Winterfalcon introduced himself and his family. Amyas reassured him that his son,
Nightshade, was safe and that he now had control over shadows and that The Shade did not have control over him. Winterfalcon was pleased to hear his son had found a mate to help him and stay by his side.
Then came
Xiu,
Ouranos,
Slyvia and their children. Amyas was glad to meet them all, but there was an itch under his scales. He was too close to home to remain idle for long.
Further up was The Verdant Crown where he met
Rowan, who told him those from the Rainfeather Clan were welcome to join them for cake. Amyas told him of his
daughter finding a
mate, and said he'd encourage them to visit.
Finally, it was time to go
home, to the Everbloom Gardens. All of the excitement he'd experienced on his journey crept up on him the closer he got. He felt the exhaustion, mentally and physically, but in a good way. He'd achieved a goal. Succeeded in completing a big, demanding task. He couldn't wait to rest with his head pillowed on his mate's plush mane.
To his surprise, family members from the Gloomy Warrior Clan had visited to celebrate his return with the rest of the family. His sister
Aeson among them. She had grown into a powerful, beautiful dragon, and his joy in seeing her overrode his tiredness.
Baccara and her
son were introduced to the clan, and
Omri reunited with her brother
Ota.
Ceren coaxed his
mate into the family fold. Everyone did their best take him feel at home, but Amyas had to remind them to give the poor dragon space.
The crowd parted for Veda and Amya, and Amyas unashamedly ran to embrace them. He had so many stories to tell and news to share with the whole clan, but that could wait. The folks from Gloomy Warrior agreed that they would stay for a few days and give him his gifts tomorrow, and that Amyas should rest for the night.
Before he fell to sleep in his own den, he had the thought that seeing all of Sornieth would certainly give him a great supply of knowledge to improve his storytelling from now on.
