Dark Oaks Legacy
Introduction
Welcome to the Dark Oaks Legacy! This is primarily a lineage quest meant for tracing the descendants of Syrup and her husband Maple. It also has some traits of a subspecies, but for the most part there are no physical restrictions for descendants. If you enjoy lore, then you'll probably like this lineage! Breeding your descendants and writing lore for them are encouraged, but neither is required to be registered.
Rules and Registry
Please only adopt dragons if you have plans to take care of them. While ultimately I can not control what you do with your dragon, it is preferred that you do not exalt ones you adopt from other players. Check this post if you're searching for a new Dark Oak to join your clan!
Owners may use the ping list when selling or giving away dragons. Please make sure to use the correct list so you don't ping the wrong players.
While it's encouraged that you report new offspring or at least leave something in the bio that links back to this lineage, you do not need to report dragons if you don't want to, especially if you plan to exalt them. This lineage will mostly focus on active dragons that are registered by the owner. The only descendants added automatically will be direct children of Maple and Syrup.

 Syrup woke to a gentle nudge from her husband's paw. She lifted her head drowsily and gazed at him through the darkness of the early morning. "Maple?" "Syrup," he stated, then faltered. "A vision." Syrup straightened with alert attention. She instinctively cradled her clutch of eggs closer to her body. "What was it?" "Don't afraid," Maple struggled. He paused a moment before continuing. "About children." Despite his reassurance, she felt a jolt of fear ripple across her scales, compelling her to hold her precious babies even closer. She glanced down at her unhatched children, still safe and warm at her side. "Magic in them," he explained, then clasped one of Syrup's claws in his and softly smiled. |
 "Magic," Syrup repeated, dazed. She seemed unsure of whether she should be more concerned or breathe a sigh of relief. Maple nodded slowly. He had seen a family filled with magic--powerful magic that could potentially cause destruction. Without guidance, his descendants would struggle with this magic; some would even abuse its power. But all was not so bleak. He also saw family that would use their magic for good, parents that would teach their children how to harness the animus within, and hope for a bright future. But one decision still had to be made right now. Maple looked lovingly at the eggs beside his wife and brushed against one tenderly with his claw, then looked back at Syrup with a pleading expression. "We help them?" Syrup leaned her head against his. "Of course we will." After that night, the couple sought to guide their descendants and aid them in discovering their power, starting with their own children. |

Outside of the lineage, Maple and Syrup are both pure generation two dragons, meaning that their parents are all first generation dragons. Any direct child of theirs will be a pure generation three dragon with a clean ancestry.*

Side Note
I haven't run a lineage quest for a long time. I made some mistakes when I was running Family Tree, my old lineage quest, and although I still enjoy seeing dragons who are part of it, I've given up recording them. Lately though, I wanted to get back into lineages, especially since participating in the Children of the Gardens. At first I thought I'd renew Family Tree by retracing all the active descendants, but now I've decided instead to start fresh. I've learned a lot since Family Tree, so now why not begin a new one with new dragons? I'd take the things I've learned over the months and use them to improve my new lineage. That's when I bought my first generation two imperial, Syrup, and decided that she would be its matriarch.
