Siblings, yes! These two are some of my longest-standing dragons in my lair, and I still adore them <3 Luyten is a fierce, ambitious warrior and highly loyal to the clan. She'd do anything for her brother though, including turn her back on the clan if it ever wronged him. Xxaven is not as brave as his sister, he went through some things when he was young that left him traumatized and unable to take up the warrior mantle alongside her. Back in the younger days of the clan, this was a shameful thing, and he instead took up the role of herbalist and healer--while still a useful role, it wasn't the one he was expected to take up. The wolf cape he wears was a gift from Luyten, at the time they were symbolic of an accomplished warrior and he was never meant to be given one, but Luyten would break the rules and expectations of the clan again and again for her brother. These days the clan is much more laid-back, having evolved from their more tribe-like ways. Xxaven is a highly respected member of the clan and his abilities as a healer are valued more than anyone can really say. They really need an update to their lore, whoops xD

oh boy, I actually can write about this! I do have some (numerous, actually) and I'll expand on that in a moment, I just need to get something done first. We gon' start with Renit and Tuai well okay I went away without posting this, I'm so smart actually /sarcasm Renit and Tuai are sorta front-siblings (imagine it like frontmen but not that) as some of the most well known and charismatic siblings in the village, which comes with being a kid from a very essential store like a bakery. Both kids are pretty adept at baking, an expected skill to have developed for just about anyone who had grown up in a baking family, but they are first and foremost endearing siblings who sell or provide bread, cakes and other baked goods to the visitors. They aren't really expected to help with the work, being allowed to be children whenever, but they both really enjoy just being wacky little guys running around with pastries and taking people's coins or goods. With very polarising personalities, they still compliment each other really well and that appears to sell. Renit is a charming oddball who has very little filter and knows just about anything about various types of grain, dirt, foreign currencies and insects, whom he loves to study, but he is far from a troublemaker. Tuai on the other hand is sweet, kind and mostly helpful, but is not afraid to insult just about any customer who arrives with a biased attitude, and then shoo them out with her ever-trusty oven peel if they do not cease. She is there to handle Renit and remove him from the premise if he starts weirding out foreign guests who are not accustomed to his ways, either by gentle persuasion or by force, latter of which is used only if he's being a menace, such as stealing people's coins that he claims "he doesn't have yet!" Tuai very clearly cares about Renit, and the feelings are shared the other way around. Tuai has no trouble standing up for her few-month younger brother and will fiercly protect him from any hostilities. It's just that she knows that sometimes stealing those coins is a really bad idea...at that moment in time! She can help him a bit later, such as while the customers are focused on the history of pyramidion-style cakes explained to them by Neb Qebh in painful detail. Tuai is most often seen wearing colourful and nicely embroidered dresses, tunics, chitons and himations, all of which she deems "very cute, comfortable and lovely", because that is the primary and honestly only important aspect of anyone's clothing choice. Renit, however, wears just about anything he can get his hands on, once even donning a hemp sack while his kilt was still drying on the clothing line, and running outside to catch that big grasshopper he had spotted, despite Betshet and Tuai's pleas to wait just a little while. Despite either of the kids' tastes in fashion, neither are afraid to get their hands and clothes dirty in some mud to catch those bugs or find some cool rocks because, after all, they are still just kids. Renit and Tuai are sorta front-siblings (imagine it like frontmen but not that) as some of the most well known and charismatic siblings in the village, which comes with being a kid from a very essential store like a bakery.

Both kids are pretty adept at baking, an expected skill to have developed for just about anyone who had grown up in a baking family, but they are first and foremost endearing siblings who sell or provide bread, cakes and other baked goods to the visitors. Oho I have a lot for this prompt. I’m busy tomorrow, so I’ll do this today instead. I’ve actually already been working on Elegy and her friend group, which are all the next 3 dragons to the right, they’re like a found family. But I actually added some words about her life as a hatchling, and her showing up to the clan alone as a hatchling. The real story behind that is that she and her friends were the first dragons I bought after returning to the site after 3 years away. All from the ah as hatchlings and all born within a day of eachother. They grew up together and they even have friendship rings! (except Seasalt, who’s actually a body double/replacement for the now exalted dragon whos colors I grew to dislike but has the same birthday breed and gender shhh) I also the other day made a family tree mapping the very very convoluted relationships between my early dragons, bc before the 3 years away I was only breeding to see the cool combinations of genes and colors. So there’s a lot of weird stuff and I really don’t understand it at all. So maybe I’ll take some time to actually try and decipher it… Most of my early dragons are still permas in my lair, so I do have already established family relationships, though as I said, it gets… confusing. There’s an intergenerational tension thing going on with some of my guardians over career paths and life choices. Okay, I’m gonna go with my Underground tab (Underfell fandergs + Coliborn challenge) again. Do note that I’ll be mostly skipping over the Soulful (coliborns) again, since there’s only three of them and there’s no real lore yet.

First off, there’s Sans and Papyrus. They’re brothers, with Sans being the older of the two, much to the surprise of many. Papyrus is much bigger (Sans is small, even for a Pearlcatcher, while Papyrus is a rather large Imperial), stronger, and more responsible. Sans acts super lazy and doesn’t seem to take anything seriously, but a lot of the former is just general fatigue from his regular illnesses, and the rest is just a front he puts on the get others to underestimate him. Papyrus doesn’t have a weakened immune system like Sans does, so he built a reputation in the Underground that allowed him to protect his brother, and has mostly kept it even in Lanternlea.

Undyne and Alphys are certainly a romantic couple, with no familial or romantic ties to either of the brothers, but the four absolutely consider themselves a family. They were close in the Underground, where they banded together in an unusually strong and trusting alliance, and the Surface has done nothing to weaken those bonds. If anything, the unfamiliarity and unpredictability of their new life has merely drawn them closer. There’s actually a harpy who (maybe) lives with them, but sadly I don’t even have a name for her, let alone anything else. She’s a Sunstream Contestant who is part of Undyne and Papyrus’s patrol, and is close with all four of them. She’s not quite as close as they are to each other, I don’t think, and very well might just live nearby.

Sans and Papyrus are pretty much constantly bickering, to the point where those who don’t know them well think they dislike each other. Sans bickers regularly with Undyne, and has regular “nerd sessions” with Alphys. Papyrus and Undyne’s relationship is largely professional in public, a holdover from the days where too-close relationships could be seen as “weak.” Papyrus and Alphys dont actually talk as much as you might expect – they both like to just be in the other’s company, and words aren’t always required between them. They can just have quiet around each other that is difficult around Undyne or Sans (when he’s not sick, that is).

The Soulful are basically the quartet’s adopted children. They were ordered to find, hatch and train them back in the Underground in hopes of breaking the Barrier, so they literally raised the kids. After the Barrier broke, the eleven decided to go traveling, but they still write/visit on a regular basis. I might have a version of Frisk and Toriel who are similar, but I still need to figure that part out.

Huh, tricky one! Or tricky to focus down, at least—I feel like my clan has a large number of flexible family situations. Guess I'll go on a tangent about childrearing norms in my clan, then.

So w/rt to my own lore, a thing I've decided is that having kids together is just Not a Big Deal, culturally. It doesn't indicate or preclude a romantic relationship, and the parents themselves might not even have a hand in their own children's upbringing.
Dragon hatchlings are highly self-sufficient, and they don't require intensive parental care, so just a handful of dragons can keep an eye on all the clan's children. Those kids are just out there, tearing around in a mixed-breed pack while a couple of chaperones make sure nothing swoops down and eats them.

Most of them are going to choose to leave soon, anyway.

But on the flip side of that, it means that fostering other dragons' offspring is pretty common! If a juvenile dragon comes to the clan from somewhere else, it's standard for one or a few of the clan's adults to step up and see to their shelter and education. These bonds might not last into adulthood, but more than a few foster families in my clan have kept closer ties than biological ones.

Wasn’t sure how to answer this prompt. In my lore, kids mostly aren’t a thing. Kinda because I’ve got a lot of merchants/mercenaries etc who move in and out of the city - so raising children might be a bit hard. There are hatchlings about, but they’re either fodder (so not part of the lore) or they’ve been found wandering through the forest and bought back to the city. So…guess I’ll focus on the two below (and think about relationships in the clan as a whole while doing so.) Brane & Bronte are brothers, but haven’t seen each other for about seventeen years maybe. Though they were both hatched in different locations, Brane did spend some years in the Southern Icefield (where Bronte was raised). Honestly, you wouldn’t really know they’re related - if not for looking pretty much the same. Brane’s pretty sarcastic in personality, and usually looks slightly irritated. Gruff, stern, don’t get on the wrong side of me…the works. Truthfully though, all that does is hide the fact that he has no idea how to build relationships with others, even though he wants to. Bronte, on the other hand, is…a bit of an idiot. Well, not really, but he’s pretty reckless and doesn’t particularly care about his own safety. If there’s someone in danger, it’s likely to be him. He’s always been that way. It’s just how he is. He did try and get Brane to play with him when they were younger, but Brane usually just brushed him off. Anyway…long story short, they’ve become aware of each other again. But now…neither of them really knows how to act around the other. Okay, they’re related to each other…but how do siblings normally act? They do talk - but sometimes that ends up in arguments. Or fights. Also, Brane usually brings his cats everywhere with him, and Bronte just so happens to be allergic to cats, which makes things awkward. Deep down, both of them do want to connect with each other…but neither of them have a clue how to.

Oh man, I have lots of families in my lore. One I'm currently revamping the lore of, but four prominent siblings I have are Vasya, Serena, Calla, and Dante. They're the most prominent noble house in my lore and the royalty of the region. They have a fifth sibling, Airan, who I accidentally exalted years ago before restore exaltation was a thing and I remain so upset about it but her lore is that she's a wanderer so it honestly kind of works.

It's a long story with these four, but essentially Airan was the oldest and as the heir noped out of her coronation because she didn't want to be stuck as queen. In normal standards, this situation should've meant the crown then went to her twin, Serena. The problem with Serena is she never really took the learning to lead and actually be a good queen part of her life seriously, she just really enjoyed having wealth and power. Cue a succession crisis where their parents went "oh god we can NOT give this to Serena" and they looked through their children, looked at the youngest (Vasya) and said "it's gotta be her" because Calla is disconnected and quiet, clearly would not be a good leader and also clearly does not want it. Dante could have been a good option, but he was really enjoying his "I'm a heroic prince who goes on ADVENTURES" phase and honestly, as 4th born, he never really had a reason to think he'd be king. So they turn to poor Vasya, who has felt her entire life she's been running from something but didn't know what, and went "it's gotta be you."

Aside from Serena, who flipped out and absconded the palace and hasn't spoken to her siblings in a long time, and Airan who by lore is out traveling the world and won't really come back out of fear of getting trapped, the remaining 3 siblings are quite close. Vasya, Calla, and Dante all live together and Vasya/Dante have a more caregiver role towards Calla. On their own, Vasya and Dante are very open and honest with each other and have a very close relationship. Honestly, Dante is probably secretly glad that Vasya took the burden so he wouldn't have to. So, all the siblings except for Serena are good with each other. Life is difficult and they honestly care the most about supporting each other, even if that manifests in odd ways sometimes because, y'know, royalty.

Another set of siblings I really love in my lore is Adelia and Fletcher. These two are at each other's throats allll the tiiime. Like, nearly constant bickering. Adelia is part of the royal guard and is their strategist. Fletcher, on the other hand, is a shapeshifter as inherited from their mom (who has since been exalted but when she was an active, loved dragon her lore was that she was a shapeshifter) and dabbles in the more criminal-underworld side of the region. How this usually plays out is Fletcher getting arrested and Adelia bailing him out, swearing each time it'll be the last but it never is. They love each other, they really do, but they also drive each other up a wall more often than not. Fletcher is really fiercely protective of his little sister though and he'll betray anyone if it means she's safe.

As for lovers, I honestly don't have too too many of those in my lore right now. My favorite is definitely Dante, who I talked about above, and Astra, who is a priestess of the Lightweaver. They met when Dante got injured in the Hewn City on a reckless adventure and her clan at the time took him in to nurse him back to health. The two of them are obsessed with each other, though they dance around it. A lot of dragons think Dante is super religious because he's always at the Acolytes' Temple, but it's only because of Astra. The two of them are super in love, also super not talking about it. Dante could tell her "Hey just so you know I would follow you anywhere and do anything for you" and she'd laugh and think he was joking but he'd 100% mean it. Dante is more so waiting until Astra seems like she's ready to seriously broach the topic.

I would say he's more openly in love, she's more subtle with it and probably slightly in denial herself. They're in that weird "we are best friends and can both sense some undertones but honestly let's not talk about it for fear that we can't come back from it" which I think is very relatable.

this ended up being a lot longer than I expected. I have work today so I'm not sure I'll have time to really lore it up, but if I do my goal will be to work on updating Calla and Serena's bios. I just recently launched my revamped lore and Vasya's and her husband Marcial's are the only ones I've gotten to redoing so far.

I have a few families, so far, but this one has had the most lorework done: Kaal and Ahkrin are a pair of former Keepers whose bastion was weakened by an epidemic, had their requests for aid go unanswered, and ultimately fell to the shade creatures imprisoned staging a revolt. Kaal took the few surviving wardens and fled north to the Ashfall Wastes, between feeling abandoned by the orders and blaming herself for whatever misstep might have caused it. Among these was her partner, Ahkrin, who had long struggled with his place in the orders for being arcane-aligned in a society dominated by isolationism and xenophobia Suleyk, Feim, Odthur, and Alok are their children, born after the wardens accepted the offer of shared territory from a fledgling clan. While Ahkrin was fairly quickly able to adapt to the new environment and call it home (including developing a relationship with the leader of the clan), Kaal found it difficult to shed the militaristic culture she grew up with, resulting in painfully high expectations for her hatchlings and, inevitably, conflict both within their family, their community, and the clan at large when those lofty bars couldn't be reached. Suleyk has tried all her life to be a model gaoler, her mother's perfect Seeker- a peerless hunter able to outsmart, outrun, outlast any threat. Being the favorite is not without its downsides; others find her single-minded devotion off-putting, and she isn't immune to feeling the strain of self-reliance, especially after one of her latest hunts had her return home with a shade parasite burrowing in the back of her mind... Feim, meanwhile, is Suleyk's direct opposite: she chafed under the restrictions Kaal imposed, to the point she took any and every opportunity to push back against her authority and embrace, perhaps to excess, the relative culture of freedom found outside the orders. She trusts her instincts and impulses wholeheartedly and relishes pushing metaphorical buttons just to see what their consequences are. As might be noticed, one of these buttons involved a period spent eloping into the Scarred Wasteland, returning home with twice as many self-satisfied grins as she left with. She'll never admit it- especially not to her mother- but she's starting to wonder if, perhaps, her impulses are starting to lead her down a path she doesn't truly want or understand, or if one day she'll encounter an obstacle she can't simply dance around on her own. While Kaal was busy trying to wrangle the elder daughters, Odthur sort of... fell through the cracks, in a way that suited her curiosity about the wider world. She traveled as she pleased throughout the nearby towns, picking up the beginnings of new skills and interests everywhere she went. None captured her eye or heart quite so fully as meeting the Shardflanks, a clan of gaolers roaming Sornieth with ideals of cooperation, compassion, and creativity- certainly a far cry from the rigid, minimalist independence her mother demanded. She's still with the Shardflanks to this day, alongside her partner, Dir, and twin sons Klo and Krah And Alok... to be honest I haven't gotten much inspiration for him yet. Alok is happy to be here. He's the baby of the family, probably softer and shyer than his sisters. Ahkrin fussed over him as a hatchling. Maybe he hasn't quite found his niche yet. He's toyed with developing his skills in music, with becoming a gardener, a familiar handler, a courier, even with following in Odthur's path to leave the clan, try his luck in a larger city. What if his sisters are engaged in all this conflict over generational trauma and he's just, like, off in the Starfall Isles working the morning shift at a rail-side diner...

There are many sets of families within Clan Dark-Blood. Shadowblood and Freyja are the founding members of the clan and as such their family line commands a lot of power within the clan. They have one son from their very first clutch that still resides in the clan, which is Nightshred. He is highly loyal to his mother and father and carries their values highly. There are a few other lingering dragons within the clan that are children of Shadowblood and Freyja but they hold Nightshred with great regard since he is far older than any of them. Nightshred also has a few children of his within the clan who are highly in the clan's eyes. Recently within the last year a young mirror pup came to the clan. Freyja fell in love instantly with the youngling and adopted him. Shadowblood still holds his disposition towards Light dragons, as does Nightshred. This mirror pup, Tenebrous, occasionally gets into spats and fights with Nightshred as Nightshred shares Shadowblood's dislike of Light dragons.

There are a few other small families within the clan. Most of which consider themselves to be adopted brothers, sisters, or parents. Many 'orphaned' dragons found their way to the clan in time, one way or another. Infinitas is an older Wildclaw that had adopted two Spirals with some time between each arriving. The younger sister is known for being coddled and spoiled by the adoptive father, while the older one is practically shunned and ignored by him. The older sister has a deep-seeded hate for the younger and tends to watch her jealously from afar. These relationships annoy Shadowblood as it can cause conflict among the clan, but he does not interfere. After all, it is not his job as the clan Patriarch to force families to love one another.

But the older sibling, Amira, disagrees. She wishes that the clan leader would do something to force Infinitas to recognize her and treat her with as much love as he does her adoptive sister.
