About The Captain of the Traveler's Rest guard force. Known as Bloodbender or Captain to most, he works to keep his subordinates in order and the Rest safe, with help from Patrol Captains Rapier and Stormfast. Even with their help, his job is still full of supervising training, checking in with the armorers, or filling out paperwork. When he's off the clock, Bloodbender is often in Red's Pub, spending quality time with his daughter or enjoying a drink with Fugue.

Story
Hatched in the Scarred Wasteland, Bloodbender spent much of his early life on his own. Passing the trials that face every young Plague dragon, he trained himself in combat and became a mercenary, traveling all across Sornieth with barely enough treasure to sustain himself. He eventually found himself in Traveler's Rest, where he decided to settle down. Shortly after, the First Five recruited him to be Captain of the guard, which then was only him and Kodiak's son Lieutenant.
During his early days in the Rest, his intimidating visage scared most of the small town's residents away from getting to know him. Except for a curious Imperial named Stormwind, a drifter from the Tangled Wood. She saw past Bloodbender's hard exterior, and he found himself falling for her. The two were married and had one egg, but in the process of raising that egg Bloodbender found that Stormwind was a flighty and inconsistent dragon. She would often disappear for days at a time, leaving him to watch their egg by himself. Shortly after Rapier hatched, Stormwind vanished from Traveler's Rest without a trace, leaving Bloodbender truly on his own. He annulled their marriage and set himself fully upon raising his daughter. Rapier became the shining star of his life, her endless curiosity and childlike wonder at the world around her giving the strength to keep being the Guard Captain. When she was old enough, Bloodbender trained his daughter in combat, and she joined the guard force with his blessing.
As the guard grew in numbers, Bloodbender began appointing assistants to help him manage the operation. The first two Patrol Captains were appointed, and shortly after the Banescale Fugue was promoted to Quartermaster. Bloodbender suddenly found himself spending a lot of time with Fugue, and the two became close as both co-workers and friends. The first time Fugue left to assist with Trinka's Search, Bloodbender missed him more than he expected he would. Since Kenji had not arrived yet, Bloodbender took up the responsibility of looking after the armory. This both put him in a space that constantly reminded him of Fugue and gave him ample time to ponder his feelings. But Fugue returned before he could reach a conclusion, and they fell back into their usual routine.
When Fugue left for the second time, Bloodbender found his absence hurting even more than last time. He came to the startling realization that he had fallen in love again, something he had thought would never happen again after Stormwind left him. With some encouragement from his daughter, he wrote a letter to Fugue confessing his feelings and sent it out, anxiously awaiting a reply. The reply turned out to be Fugue himself, who had gotten the letter while traveling back to the Rest. After letting Bloodbender stumble over himself confessing his feelings in person, Fugue revealed that he had fallen in love with him in turn. He also reassured Bloodbender that there would be time for them to figure out this new relationship. All the time in the world.
