Tlapa first heard about the Sornieth Winter Games a few years ago in passing. This was the first year she caught the invitation in time to compete. She took a look at the list and just [i]knew[/i] she wanted to play some hockey. Time to go on the [b]hunt [/b]for a team!
Her best friend, Pixie was a sure bet, the two loved playing together. Her other occasional mate, Ithir was a harder one to convince as they loved nothing more than cuddles, but decided they could try their hand at playing defense. That started a team of 3 gaolers and both Pixie and Tlapa wanted to play forwards. The team thus far lighted on a pun involving a common misspelling for a mispronunciation of their breed and then pitched some ideas for what kind of Goalers - enter another idea, the correct pronunciation of their breed: Jailers!
The Jail Goalers lacked some finesse though and so they landed on the slang Clink and decided it needed their breed's home territory as an adjective. And thus The Ice Clink Goalers was a 3 Gaoler team looking for more.
They found their third forward, Pendegrast, and their second defender, Minthe, in short order. The [i]goaltender[/i] however, posed a challenge. Short for time and tryouts, they settled on a guardian who ended up on the ice quite by accident, but excelled at letting no pucks through. And thus the team of gaoler goalers was complete (they don't talk about Runo).

Most of the Disillusionists are excited, both to see their clan receive a Hall of Fame award and to cheer on their clanmates in the events. Romero, on the other hand, is one of the more nervous ones. "You guys have been competin' in the Games for ages longer than I've been with you! Maybe one of the longtime clanmates'd do a better job instead?"

The marigold-scaled dragon found himself in the awkward position as most obviously born of the sunbeam ruins, but whose team was registered to be one of those representing the Shadow Flight.
The clan was recovering after the shock of their magically sudden shift in location, and the mood was a mixture of longing for their old home, and discovering the charms of their new environs. Some had been making ties with neighbouring clans. Then there were those who felt emboldened to suggest experiencing life in yet another realm.
No one could say for sure where the next Crystalline Gala would find the Stanzascale clan. After the years since their last entry to the Winter Games, Bontu hoped that the clan would feel sufficiently stable and prepared to make it more of a tradition, as it was for several venerable clans across Sornieth.
During the intervening years, it had been a patient [b]hunt[/b] for dragons willing to take up sports regularly, who were open to dedicate time and hard work to one. Bontu took pleasure in helping others discover something fun and fulfilling.
But that was enough time spent considering past and future. It was time to make the first strides of the year. Bontu ascended the slopes for the alpine slalom.

The two had discovered the Sornieth Winter Games while out on a [b]hunt[/b] for some frozen treasure appropriate for the Gala, and Courser had eagerly signed up, thinking it would be great fun. But now that he was here, he was having second thoughts. Everyone moved so fluidly and beautifully on the ice — he wasn't sure he could match their grace, serpentine as he was. And his Vessel... he worried for his Vessel. He was wonderful to have underwater, an excellent navigator and protector, but his movements were slow, albeit precise, and he was just awfully bulky all around.
Courser's nervous thoughts were interrupted by the announcer—
"What a performance that was! Great job, great job! And now it's time for... Courser and Vessel! Come on out onto the ice!"
Vessel immediately began to move forward. Clearly he wasn't as nervous as his Courser — or maybe he was just better at pushing through it. Regardless, it was time for action.
The two had a plan to combine their strengths and weaknesses in the best way possible — with the help of the Citrina's resident fashion designer, Prada, they had decided they would show off both Courser's sea-serpent-esque movements and Vessel's size, strength, and relative sluggishness, emphasizing the contrast between them and hopefully intriguing the judges with their performance as a result. Intriguing in a good way, that is.
Well, it sounded good in theory, but now it was time to see if it would actually work. As Vessel moved out into the center of the arena with deceptively good control over his movements, the crowd began to whisper amongst themselves, pointing out the oddness of the hulking Imperial paired with the lean little Spiral. Courser took one last deep breath and then quickly spiraled up onto Vessel's head, as the music began, and so did their routine.
