New to the coli? Check out THIS guide first!

Alright ya'll, I got something that's gonna make you cry with joy: I developed a coli team that crushes the Kelp beds and below WITHOUT AN ELIMINATE ON ANY OF THE DRAGONS.

Ya'll: WHAAAAAT? NO WAY!

Yes, way. And I'll show you how it works, too.

But first: It is important to note that this build is 2-3 times slower than Eliminate using builds. However, it is a cheaper way to get your foot in the door regarding the coliseum than buying an Eliminate. THIS IS NOT AN END ALL, BE ALL! This is just to help you get started, as they can help you grind or level fodder to get that Eliminate stone you need/want!

Here we can see the stones and stats of one of the three dragons. These are the same for all members of the team, with a few exceptions listed below.

7HAx1av.png
Stones, from top to bottom, left to right: Scratch, Rally (OPTIONAL), Sap, Haste (OPTIONAL), Reflect (or Bolster), Berserker and Ambush.

(This build is a variation of the Harpy's Roost Trainer build!)

Other stone options on another dragon:

unknown.png

Stones from top to bottom, left to right: Scratch, Shred, an elemental slash (Mist Slash, in this case), Clobber, Sap, Berserker, and Ambush.

Quick Facts about the build:
 • Rally and Haste are optional, and you can swap out Bolster for Reflect or vice versa.
 • If you hang out in the Kelp Beds most of the time, swap out Bolster for Reflect for all three dragons!
 • You can also have two of these and one mage of your choice, with the mage in the first slot. I recommend a Mage with 2 Ambushes if heading to the GW, or if you just want more turns for your Mage.
 • If you wish to add Eliminate in the future, just put it over the Shred, or in an empty space or over an elemental attack. DO NOT overwrite Rally if you have it, it's expensive and useful.
 • There is a range of stats you can go with for this build! See the next section for more information!

Originally, I developed this build for using one dragon to grind lower level venues (Bamboo Falls and below) when one can't afford a full team nor an Eliminate, but after making one for a friend of mine, I realized that they work well together in higher venues!

So I tested them on their own, in pairs, with a mage, and with a third of the same build. And they work. If you need a cheap but effective way to get started in the coliseum, this is it!

Updates on the build:
 • LATEST UPDATE (MAY 2019) - Eliminate prices took a dive by about half towards the end of May 2019, so the estimates in the Price Checker section are currently inaccurate (pricing Mire Flyers at over 700k-1mil tr to stone from scratch). I will update it when I get the chance.
 • The guide has been condensed and reorganized, and some things had been cut out in order to make it more relevant and easier to read.
 • Rally and Haste have been determined to no longer be necessary to the build! Have no fear, you can have a Sedona without paying so much for those stones!
 • 1 Sedona and 1 Mage CAN level dragons in the upper venues! 2 Sedonas technically can as well, but they are less stable.

How to Use This Build (Full Fighter Team Ver.)
 • Rally all (Optional)
 • Scratch when you have a turn
 • Use Sap to heal after you get hit (when able)

How to Use This Build (2 Fighter/1 Mage Ver., no buffs)
 • Dragon A (Mage): Meditate (once or twice as needed)
 • Dragon B & C: Scratch when you can attack
 • Dragon A: Attack or heal as needed
 • Use Sap to heal as needed to ease workload on the Mage
 • If you have enough breath and are elementally strong against a mob, use your elemental attack (ex: against an Ice mob, a Lightning or Shadow attack would be super effective)

~When you are facing harder hitting mobs in higher level venues, it’s wise to use Haste/Rally if you can! If not, then just use Sap more often.

~Notice how the only difference is the addition of using Haste when confronted with heavy hitters. This gives you more turns for your dragons to Scratch them and survive.

~If you want to use Reflect, use it AFTER mobs Meditate the first time, if you can. This helps it last longer!

How to Use This Build (GW Ver.)

Note: I recommend using a Mage with 2 Ambushes in the GW, regardless of what build you use for your fighters!
 • Mage (in first slot at all times): Rallies Dragon 1
 • Dragon 1: Rallies Dragon 2
 • Dragons 1&2: Attacks
 • Use Sap when needed
 • Mage: Meditates
 • Attack as normal, alternating between Meditating, healing, and attacking with your mage.
 • Most battles (3 mobs) do not need you to Rally again!

Q: Why so much DEF?
A: It was more of a “dump” stat than anything! You don’t need this much DEF, but that’s how many points were left over. I don’t personally assign points into AGI because it hasn’t been proven over the last several years that it works as intended yet, but you can do whatever with the last bit of points you have.

BUILD "STANDARD"
 • 103 STR (133 when Rallied)
 • 80 QCK (110 with Haste)
 • 35 VIT
 • 25 DEF
 • 9 AGI (the extra points)

BUILD STANDARD WITHOUT BERSERKER STONES
 • STR: 88
 • QCK: 71
 • VIT: 35
 • DEF: 25
 • AGI: 6

RECOMMENDED STAT RANGES FOR THIS BUILD
 • 99-105 STR (129-135 when Rallied)
 • 80 QCK (110 with Haste)
 • 30 VIT to 40 VIT
 • 10 DEF to 30 DEF

As long as you stay within these ranges, you will do just fine! Just adjust accordingly.

If you use Reflect, you prevent one turn of damage (293 points, if I remember correctly from a few seconds ago), but it's totally not necessary. The mix of speeds for the mobs in this venue makes my head spin, honestly. Some are really fast (you only get 2 turns for every 1 mob turn) and others are really slow (you get 4 or more per 1 mob turn). Thankfully, the only ones that hit somewhat hard are the bosses. 4 regular hits or 3 Rallied hits to everything but bosses should do it without you losing much health. Two dragons can fly through this venue, but three make an awesome grinding team.
Rainsong Jungle:

Not a bad place for two dragons to be!
Boreal Wood:

It has been tested and proven by @/bionic that you can use one of these dragons to level two fodder easily in this venue! (See: HOW THEY FARE PER VENUE above for a link to the post)
Crystal Pools:

Leveling fodder here is a nice alternative to other venues, both for a change of scenery, and for those sweet, sweet silks. It is easy to level fodder, though much slower than in the Kelp Beds or similar with two trainers.
Harpy's Roost:

While you can start on any pack or boss like you can in Crystal Pools, back to back bosses are a much greater struggle with two fighter dragons, as the bosses hit harder and you can't regain your health back as fast as they hit you, so be careful and keep an eye on your breath and health in this venue.
Ghostlight Ruins:

I HIGHLY recommend that you use Rally and Haste if leveling fodder here in this venue without a Mage-enemies are bulkier and faster than in the last two venues and you will be grateful for the extra speed and damage. Sure, you lose your beginning turns in prep, and take a bit of damage as well, but you make up for it in self sustainability for the rest of the battle, and the Breath generated helps you heal later on. Bosses are tougher, but a team of three dragons can handle them.
Mire:

Leveling in the Mire with a Sedona and a Mage is easier than in Ghostlight since more enemies are castors here than in the prior venue. HERE is a comparison post by another player.
Kelp Beds:

Bosses are easy peesy when your dragons are Rallied, just be sure to save some of your Breath for your Reflects. Also, be sure to use Haste first thing, and Rally after, if you wish-enemies here are fast and hit hard, even with your high health. Having three in a team doesn't allow hitting enemies enough turns to really do much damage, so this venue is ridiculously easy in a team of three with Rally on all dragons.
Golem Workshop:

So far, so good; two of this build plus a mage held their own against everything the GW could throw at them, including a Frost Delver, all without fainting once! I AM STILL TESTING THE GW, but so far, they've been totally fine here!

FESTIVAL INFORMATION If you only have one dragon but wish to participate in festivals, the lower venues (Training Fields-Redrock Cove) drop good amounts of currency for ALL festivals! Training Fields:
Woodland Path:
Scorched Forest:
Sandswept Delta:
Forgotten Cave:
Bamboo Falls:

Redrock Cove:
 • Bosses aren't too bad here. One dragon can hold their own against a boss, as long as you use Haste+Rally and keep it that way. Those two moves will be your best friends in this venue with one dragon. If you have less than half health and a boss shows up, you might have to refresh.
Waterway:
Arena:
 • This venue is quite easy, honestly, especially if you have three dragons. You should be able to fly right through with two or three dragons, bosses and all.
Volcanic Vents:
 • The bosses here are also quite easy.
 • Not a bad place for two dragons to be! The mobs are relatively easy, but I would recommend at least using Rally if you don't want to use Haste, especially for a boss.
Boreal Wood:
 • It has been tested and proven by @/bionic that you can use one of these dragons to level two fodder easily in this venue! (See: HOW THEY FARE PER VENUE above for a link to the post)
Crystal Pools:
 • Leveling fodder here is a nice alternative to other venues, both for a change of scenery, and for those sweet, sweet silks. It is easy to level fodder, though much slower than in the Kelp Beds or similar with two trainers.
Harpy's Roost:
 • While you can start on any pack or boss like you can in Crystal Pools, back to back bosses are a much greater struggle with two fighter dragons, as the bosses hit harder and you can't regain your health back as fast as they hit you, so be careful and keep an eye on your breath and health in this venue.
Ghostlight Ruins:
 • I HIGHLY recommend that you use Rally and Haste if leveling fodder here in this venue without a Mage-enemies are bulkier and faster than in the last two venues and you will be grateful for the extra speed and damage. Sure, you lose your beginning turns in prep, and take a bit of damage as well, but you make up for it in self sustainability for the rest of the battle, and the Breath generated helps you heal later on. Bosses are tougher, but a team of three dragons can handle them.
Mire:
 • Leveling in the Mire with a Sedona and a Mage is easier than in Ghostlight since more enemies are castors here than in the prior venue. HERE is a comparison post by another player.
Kelp Beds:
 • Bosses are easy peesy when your dragons are Rallied, just be sure to save some of your Breath for your Reflects.
 • So far, so good; two of this build plus a mage held their own against everything the GW could throw at them, including a Frost Delver, all without fainting once! I AM STILL TESTING THE GW, but so far, they've been totally fine here!

FESTIVAL INFORMATION

If you only have one dragon but wish to participate in festivals, the lower venues (Training Fields-Redrock Cove) drop good amounts of currency for ALL festivals! Yay!

More information on festival drops in the coliseum can be found here.

TIPS AND TRICKS

1. I recommend giving your dragons Clobber whenever possible. It’s a super handy attack that takes 35 breath to use. It stuns enemies so they can’t make any moves on their next turn!

2. I’m leveling 1 Mage and 2 Sedona fighters from the ground up right now, and since they hit level 15, they’ve been breezing through venues pretty well. Even bosses that Culex warns about in their guide are easy for this team, but it’s better if you use a Mage, as that’s how I tested it.

Update on the Jester team: Level 20 and in Harpy's Roost!

3. In terms of getting started, I HIGHLY recommend borrowing a level 25 and leveling your dragons at least to level 12. This allows you to have an Ambush on each dragon, 3 spaces for attacks/healing, and helps you skip past Scorched Forest, which is notorious for being difficult in the beginning. You get to jump right to the fun venues, like Blooming Grove!

Really Want Eliminate?

1. Rent a level 25 and focus on leveling 1-2 of your own dragons. You can level 2 of your own at a time to 25, no additional stones needed (yet), or you can level 1 of your own and 1 fodder. In the time it takes to level 1 dragon to 25, you can exalt enough fodder at level 7 to afford your own Eliminate.

2. You can max out the fairgrounds for a week and buy an Eliminate that way. I recommend Glimmer and Gloom on HARD mode.

3. You can level 3 dragons at once, 2 Sedonas and 1 Mage, from level 1 and up through the coliseum. It'll be slower than with an Eliminate, but they can handle many more enemies than just 3 fighters alone due to the healing support of the Mage. I know this because I'm currently doing it right now! I'm already at Harpy's Roost and they are only level 19. I recommend giving your fighters Clobber, as it stuns enemies and keeps them from doing damage to your dragons for one turn.

4. Combining points 1 and 3: You can use a rented level 25 to level 3 dragons of your choice to level 17 or so (can go as early as 12, but 17 makes for easier math with stats). Then you can take your trio of level 17 dragons and make one of them a mage. I recommend making one of your fighters either Arcane, Earth, Nature or Water. Your mage can be anything, but Wind is said to be the best for Golem Workshop grinding.

You can then return the level 25 sooner than you would otherwise and level your team from 17 onto 25 on your own! If you're lucky, an Eliminate might drop, but otherwise, you'll have your own effective grinding and leveling team without spending a large amount of money. And, during your trip to level 25, you can grind up enough money for an Eliminate! Easy!
