Ah, you don't understand. I never get eggs. I've been here a year and have officially only gotten 3 eggs ever from the Coli. But the other player I was talking do has actually put in the time for over 8k chests and is pretty much great for getting several eggs from any holiday. So between the two of us, and the other three people compiling stats, we've done over 10k chests, so if you figure a third of all encounters give you chest drops, that's at least 30k battles we've done all totalled.

And none of us have regular eggs to show for it. For me that's nothing abnormal. But for the other four, who I know are hardcore grinders, that was weird to notice (not when unhatched eggs are cheaper than some familiars).

But I'm glad you picked up a Water egg, it means that the strange chests didn't bump out any other rare things that were supposed to also drop.... Hopefully.

Don't even joke about Nocturne powder that way. Tables need to be flipped if we can trade the stuff the chests would decay into for things. But I do hear the sentiment. *nods muchly*

I had to actually go look at my progen's page to see what his colors are, it's been that long. XD He's azure/shadow/beige, which isn't too bad. The tert's not phenomenal, but it could certainly be worse. If I ever get to finishing gening him up, he'll be quite pretty (under his skin). Progen's mate... I guess I'm thinking maybe a snapper or a ridgeback? I'm always meaning to get more of those in my lair and I've been bad about it. I'd say if you really want to scroll your progens up, pick something from the treasure market place. They'll be much cheaper, and you won't regret it if you can't sell them later or something. Even coatl or widlclaw would be a much better choice than nocturne at this point because of the rarity. I want to be ABSOLUTELY sure I pick the perfect dragon, which is why I haven't used mine yet even though I've had them for days. (I've experienced buyer's remorse from too-hastily applying scrolls before. )

Anyway, I don't know if I'm going to honeslty be able to make much if any profit either. I'm selling in slightly larger stacks so they're a bit hidden, and maybe nobody wants to buy/try anymore at this point. Ah, well. Whatever happens happens. At this point, I don't feel like I could "lose" much more. xD;

XD If i apologize and say it's kind of a gallows humor since several of my family members have had strokes for real, would that help?

I'd be cool with it if the stuff had a really nice sell-from-hoard value, what with it basically being a limited-time item. That probably won't happen, either, though.

@Ilium Nah, it's fine. I make jokes about all the alcoholism in my family (sorry to hear about the strokes though, those are rough). And you've never been around black humor until you've made friends with ER staff.


You know the stuff won't have a big hoard-sell value. But..... I am now saving some just so they'll turn into dust, odds are they're just going to have food and junk in them anyway.

@Safirien It might just be me, but I think tierasa meant that after that much effort, you're entitled to have a scroll (i.e. you should have one to show for your efforts), not that you feel entitled for wanting one. That's how i read it, anyway.



Oh, somewhat off topic, but has anyone thought about what's going to happen at rollover to chests still in the AH? Are they just going to turn into dust, but remain in the AH under the new name? Are they all going to end prematurely and then just dissolve in people's hoards? I just can't see this ending well, and I foresee a decent amount of confusion in the next several hours.

I didn't even open as many chests as many people did. A few thousand. Four eggs and no scrolls.

I resorted to selling them a day or two ago because I wanted to get something out of them, even if by doing so I was completely bypassing the event itself. I don't even care anymore.

I have something of an addictive personality, and this whole thing has been horrible for me. It's been mindless, tedious, and devouring time that I regret not spending on other things. (Which I'm aware is a choice I made, but that doesn't lessen the frustration any.) I'm counting myself lucky that I don't have health problems that have been exacerbated by this...thing.

So farewell, NotN. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Actually that's how I read it to; they meant that we should be entitled to *something* after all that work.

Luckily they were just mini-strokes and people have made full recoveries, but it's definitely worrisome. Thanks for the concern. :)

So, apparently my question was asked in another thread. The chests will dissolve into dust but remain up for auction at the same price. Oh I really hope that works right the first time.

I do too. I understand that to some degree, games are kind of designed to bank on these tendencies, but usually the rewards tend to outweigh the cost and it doesn't feel quite so blatant. Because the odds were so heavily weighted against us, the "shine" that kind of blurs that feeling faded fast.

I guess on the bright side, I now know that i am absolutely not, under any circumstances, to go gambling unsupervised.
