“Re-emerging from their hiding places, Everlux have turned to Rotrock Rim for safety. Many were enraged - clearly upset over the disregard The Lightweaver had towards their homes and safety. Seeing Plaguebringer’s power, a rebellion has begun to form. It is an interesting sight to behold and I would be foolish to let this go unseen.”

When it comes to dragons seeking to become Plaguebringer’s most loyal, these individuals typically aim towards a bigger goal. For Lightweaver’s ancients, the Everlux have taken it upon themselves to reject Her in protest against Her mistake: the emperor (“Luminax”).
They have been driven out of the comfort and safety of their homes with nests and loved ones placed at great risk - hundreds of their kind being harmed or worse in the process of their return to Sornieth’s society.
Everlux would attempt the Trials to disown their creator, with most of the first few being unsuccessful in their attempts. They began with infecting themselves by inserting Wyrmwound lake liquid into their roof gland and spinning silk made of contaminants. This allowed them to conceal their appearances and discourage comparisons of their pre-trial look to their post-trial - after all, their vanity is of utmost importance.
They had to learn to withstand the plague as every other Necromancer. Cocoons littered the ground around the Wyrmwound, pulsing with its putrid material. They were eager and, perhaps, a little too impulsive with this anger they had built within them. For days after the initial Trials, Rotrock Rim was decorated with written carvings created by these dragons, bearing warnings and biases against the Lightweaver, as small Ghouls slowly infested the land and latched onto passing dragons like feasting leeches.
It was what followed after these Ghouls that finally caught The Council’s attention.
An outbreak of pale, colourless Everlux began to infiltrate the wasteland with an innate urge to locate other clans housing Necromancers. This variant mirrored that of their Veilspun counterpart’s Pallids: posing a threat to Necromancer society. These “Maggots” eat disease and elemental magic that they sense with their sensitive antennae, feeding off dragons from the strongest of Necro dragons down to the most potent Ghoul. Oddly enough, Maggots avoid and are uninterested in regular dragons. Their insatiable hunger craves Mother’s gift and they are drawn to those who possess it, seeking to gain it for themselves by devouring what they can. Maggots may initiate fights with one another as a result of this urge, though it is more common to see them in groups to overcome larger breeds.
They are sneaky creatures that use their jaw structure to dig through scales and flesh to bury themselves within the dragons, remaining undetected to the untrained eye. If a Necromancer is lucky enough, they will be able to identify the Maggot infestation by spotting patches of irritated sores or loose scales.
Once a Maggot has eaten away at the disease, the affected dragon’s abilities will grow weaker and their born element dwindles until they fully expire. The Maggots have a tendency to place their eggs in the corpses of these dragons so their hatchlings get a head start in learning how to survive in the Plaguelands or, if they're in other Flights, are born already familiar with death.
Rumours suggest that the Maggots are able to neutralise Ghouls, though this remains unproven. It is currently unknown what has caused the outbreak and how these dragons have come to be but the most believed suspicion is that these were once Ghouls that feasted on their own disease as a last ditch attempt to save themselves, a direct contrast to the Pallids that cease their eating.
Following this rising threat, the potential for Necromancer Everlux faltered as more and more dragons became reluctant to take their trials. The continued destruction across Emperor’s Wake was the main driving factor for those that did attempt to push through these trials.
First came the Wraiths, then the Necroservi… When, finally, the emergence of true Necromancers took flight in a flurry of colours. These Necromancers often hold vector-borne diseases that are delivered to new hosts via bites. Some Everlux may insert small strings of silk into the bite wound to keep it open and susceptible to infection. These often go unnoticed by larger breeds such as Imperials and Undertides.
Those that had witnessed this event will compare it to watching butterflies hatching. A mark in history had been made and these Necrolux did not hesitate to let Sornieth know of their arrival by weaving crafts of gratitude directed for Mother using their contaminated silk.

When it comes to spreading a message, having a Necrolux amongst your clan is your best bet. Skilled in both the written and physical means of communication, Necrolux are praised for their ability to carry messages to The Council or to other clans. With their love for recording and sharing knowledge, Necrolux are often the underlying brains in the Necromancer Society, especially when it comes to spreading Mother’s message, which coaxes many others to the Cause. They are a very social bunch and tend to settle in clans that have at least one other Everlux for them to chat with.
Everlux are creatures that adore writing what occurs in their day-to-day life and Necrolux are no exception. Their records are often used as a means of reflecting on progress, and many detail the historical moments that have been made with the Necromancers as a whole. They love to celebrate these recorded moments and are often seen working together to weave banners (or any similar crafts) to display their pride.
Strangely enough, the apostles of the Necrolux community have taken a strong liking to the Dusthides that made themselves incredible missionaries and ambassadors. After their emergence and recent integration with Mother’s chosen, many written reports tell that it is not uncommon for a Necrolux to join a clan alongside a Necro Dusthide due to their similar roles. Everlux that successfully complete the Trials will keep the same colour range as their modern counterparts and bear the same marks. However, there are two major differences that make them distinct. Their secondaries sport more colour and a more shiny look - a statement of their pride in appearances as well as their victory - though they will continue to display the iconic reds.
The second difference is that some Necromancers have emerged with an infected version of the harp gene. These music-generating Necromancers act as messengers between Mother and fellow Necros, as well as spreading indoctrination to potential recruits through music. The harp strings are made of contaminated silk and can be of great use in battle. They will typically take on a missionary role.

As dragons that cherish their homes and fellow kin, Necrolux don’t set their Necroservi below them, nor view them as lesser. They behave as companions to their Necromancer and are often entrusted with teaching young ones emerging from Necromancer clutches.
Some Necroservi Everlux are given the harp gene when blessed by Mother. This gives them the chance to become a missionary like the Necromancer Everlux, though they are used as a fallback or as support.

These are Necros who, for one reason or another, regret their choice and either begin to lose faith in Plaguebringer or attempt to flee back to Lightweaver. However, Her disapproval is hidden to none as She takes this vulnerability in faith to strike them down and brandish them with a sunlit marking. These dragons are left as useless outcasts, festering in their own disease and the permanent burns of the sunlight. They often hunker down in Shadow’s domain between Plague and Light - a middle ground where they can hide and wallow in their shame.
Icarus Necros are often adopted by Necromancers and Wraiths for their unique sight ability that detects Shade. They make great Lich hunters and are often seen as bodyguards or as nest watchers. With the sunlight burned into their bodies, they can identify signs of Shade infection within dragons and will often attack on sight to ‘rid themselves of the dark soul’. Lone Icarus Necros frequently go insane with an obsession of hunting Shade to the point of attacking almost anything in sight.

Maggots are avoided if any Necro variation can help it. With their pale bodies contrasting with the dark colours of Plague, they are easy to pick out and many are killed on sight. These beings eat away disease and will weaken any Necromancer while the Maggots grow stronger. They use their jaw structure to bury themselves in dragon flesh, remaining hidden. They can be spotted by locating irritated sores and bumps along the skin or looking for loose scales.
Necromancer Everlux are strongly advised to keep their distance from Maggots and to keep their eyes peeled for any web-like structures. Similar to Pallids, Maggots will actively seek out Necrolux if they are sensed to be nearby. Maggots will set up webbed traps with their silk around areas they have detected to contain Necrolux, trapping them like flies and restraining them. Once trapped, a Maggot will take the opportunity to inflict a bite onto the Necrolux and drain them of Mother’s blessing. This ultimately infects the Necrolux with the same condition and further spreads the outbreak.

NECROSERVI
Necroservi Everlux are seen as equals to their Necromancer counterparts even if they seem to follow typical Necromancer etiquette.

WRAITHS
Wraith Everlux were the first few “successful” dragons that made it out of the Trials without succumbing to the fate of the Ghoul. Desperate for a new deity to turn to (and to not suffer a terrible death), they were quick to leap onto other means of passing. Despite their lack of control, Wraiths are treated much like their Servi kin. As long as they are able to document, they are considered part of the Necrolux community. They are also capable of having the harp gene.

ICARUS

MAGGOTS

Meet Ailbe! They might have mistaken a rotborne colossus as a weird emperor and tried to run back to Luminax. Just needed a little guidance to figure it out, but hey, now they have the power to see the shade infecting dragons! Used to have nothing before, what with their status as a wraith. Upgrades, people, upgrades! Even if it comes with a hint of paranoia.
