The first waves of Veilspuns to arrive in the Scarred Wasteland were unexpected. Many Councilors thought that these frail dragons wouldn’t last, others thought the Veilspuns were joking or even mocking them. However, once one Veil passed their trials all doubts The Council had changed to excitement. Necro Veils tend to be brighter than their modern counterparts, these bright colors are beneficial for luring potential trial goers into the depths of the wastelands.
Along with their hypnotic qualities being amplified by the trials many Veils have been shown to have the ability to "see the fate" of dragons they come into contact with, while this ability is relatively hard to understand many believe these veils are simply viewing the near future of the dragons in question. This ability is used heavily to pick dragons to lure to the Necromancers, and within swarms Veils that have this clairvoyance are guarded fiercely, as it is rare even in these dragons. Many Veils also show a proclivity for fortune telling, some use this as a secondary way to provide for the swarm; trading their fortunes for food or money to help the swarm. A swarmless Veil may use their oracle abilities to gain favor in a clan, or act as a traveling fortune teller and provide their services for treasure.
Veilspuns live within swarms that can number in the hundreds. The swarm itself has a rigid hierarchy with one to two leaders keeping the rest in check and making sure the swarm is healthy and safe. The leaders also give jobs to the Veils in their swarm based on the gene types or even interests of the Veil in question, i.e. a Veil with beetle will normally be a guard but if they have a fondness of telling stories then they become the swarms story teller and so forth.
Not many Veils choose to live apart from a swarm, as they are very social and tend to need the protection and warmth of a swarm. The swarmless Veils tend to live within large clans or form close bonds to dragons around them to supplement the contact they would have within a swarm.
Veils are extremely social dragons, with or without a swarm. Clans housing Necro Veils can expect having harmless pranks played every now and then, large feasts, festivals, seances, and other manner of festivities based around the dark and macabre. They take these social events very seriously and will be unhappy if a dragon tries to ruin it. Veilspuns are renowned tricksters, the greatest trick they've pulled is making the Council believe they can see the future.

The Pallid
[br]
Becoming Pallid is a fate far worse than becoming a Ghoul. These dragons are outcast, alone, and there is no known cure for their condition. A Palllid has little to no coloration,if they do have brighter colors then they’re freshly infected and cannot transmit their condition yet, as they worsen they lose the ability to fly and begin to lose their appetite. As their color fades their interest in finding a swarm becomes an obsession, pushing them to stop eating completely, eventually appearing as a living skeleton roaming the wastes in search of a swarm to join. This condition can pass between Veilspuns through the scales of the Pallid’s wings shedding off in small flakes, or through direct contact with the Pallid, when getting rid of these dragons many Veils resort to magic or leaving the area completely. If a swarm does become infected it will break down within a few weeks as the sickness spreads, leading to the swarm breaking apart completely. One Pallid can bring down a swarm of hundreds. They are bad omens and avoided at all costs. Many try to seek a life of solitude but the call to a swarm is too much for these outcasts to bear and they actively seek them out.
What causes these dragons is currently unknown, many Veilspun’s believe they are Veils who were punished by the Shadowbinder for turning their back on her, caught by their scorned goddess just before making it to the trial grounds. Draining them of their colors and twisting their minds so all they know is to search for swarms, drawn only to those chosen by the Plaguebringer, and making the condition spread only to spite the goddess of the wastelands. However, this is only a theory created by very superstitious Veilspuns, but there could be truth behind their fears. As more Pallids have begun to move across the wastelands some Veils have noted they’ve felt drawn to them, almost like the Pallid was imitating the calls or scent of a lone queen looking to create a swarm. The Council is investigating these strange dragons, and have so far found that only Veilspuns risk becoming Pallid and other breeds are safe at this time.
