They are warned not to travel into deserts without known oases along the route or frozen wastelands with no shelter. Their folklore often deals with themes of caution and preparation, for being lost in uninhabitable areas can be a fate worse than death.
A common fable describes a Cerdae long ago who fled into a remote desert. They became hopelessly lost. Without any map of the arid desert, they could not find fresh water. Driven to keep its host alive, the symbiotic plant embedded in every cell of the Cerdae's body began diverting nutrients away from their non-essential organs and toward their legs and heart. But although it could keep its host alive and walking forward as long as possible, it did not have any means of navigation either. Dehydrated, delirious, and unable to stop walking, the poor Cerdae could do nothing as its five senses failed one by one. Eventually, their eyes and even their mind fell into complete darkness; doomed by the pact meant to save them, pressing endlessly on, forever seeking the way home.
Not all Cerdae come to a good end: the only goal of the plant is to keep itself and its host alive. The pact extends a dragon's endurance beyond their body's natural limits. The same power that allows a Cerdae to survive fatal diseases and wounds can also turn them into shambling half-alive horrors.

These vines are extraordinarily sturdy and can be covered in thorns, leaves, or stinging hairs. [b]Mossy[/b] Pearl Cerdae are able to camouflage themselves in forests and swamps thanks to the large patches of plants, moss, and lichen covering their body. The massive overgrowth over their body requires more upkeep than other variants of Cerdae - like rodent's teeth, a Mossy Cerdae's vegetation never stops growing. These Cerdae must either carefully trim excess growth away, or retreat deep into the Labyrinth to sleep.
They require a constant supply of water to nourish the massive amount of vegetation they host, and often settle in monsoon-drenched cities or humid jungles. Some are capable of going without food entirely, thanks to the symbiotic photosynthesis of the Viridian plant. They are well suited for century-long vigils guarding ancient relics, or conducting revitalizing work in remote areas with very little dragon life.[/size]

Mossy Pearl Cerdae are able to camouflage themselves in forests and swamps thanks to the large patches of plants, moss, and lichen covering their body. The massive overgrowth over their body requires more upkeep than other variants of Cerdae - like rodent's teeth, a Mossy Cerdae's vegetation never stops growing. These Cerdae must either carefully trim excess growth away, or retreat deep into the Labyrinth to sleep.
They require a constant supply of water to nourish the massive amount of vegetation they host, and often settle in monsoon-drenched cities or humid jungles. Some are capable of going without food entirely, thanks to the symbiotic photosynthesis of the Viridian plant. They are well suited for century-long vigils guarding ancient relics, or conducting revitalizing work in remote areas with very little dragon life.
