Born to a clan of the weaving banks of the Glandveins, despite his innate nature to love and care for the land, Aron found a particular love for the sky. Where many of his clanmates preferred low, gliding altitudes, the daring Pearlcatcher spent hours spiraling through the clouds, gazing upon the world from a bird's-eye view. Many elders of his clan had criticized him for his reckless flights, accusing him of wasting away his days with his 'head in the clouds'; metaphorically speaking, and quite literally in this regard. And yet, he refused to take heed to such remarks.

A modern Icarus.

And much like that careless soul, Aron flew too close to the sun.

Mastering aerial maneuvers that none in his clan had ever bore witness to before, the hubris of the young male had seized his ambitions. And, despite the many warnings from friends and loved ones, Aron set off into the night on a mission to seek a Spiral within the Gladebough Village, determined to further expand his skills of flight. In his impatience, he ignored the tell-tale signs of the coming storm, growing lost in the rain and pitch black skies until he was overpowered and knocked from the very skies he loved.

Falling among the foliage and branches of the forest, Aron awoke the next day. His body bruised and broken. The wings he carried with pride torn from the branches that had slowed his descent, his hind legs broken and unmoving, paralyzed from the fall. And his pearl was nowhere in sight.

To this day, Aron is unsure how long he had laid there, front claws scrabbling over the muddy roots of the trees in his desperate attempts to stand, but to no avail. He may have very well perished on that fateful day had he not been found by a strange dragon. By all accounts, they looked like any other of his kin within his clan. Another Pearlcatcher; and yet, there was something foreign to her. Among their pelt was a covering of lichen, seemingly growing over their scales as though it belonged there. It baffled Aron, but none of his curiosity would be sated in such a state.

Before he knew it, the peculiar dragon had delicately brought him to her home, a den within the twisting roots of a tree. For days, Bryo -- the strange Pearlcatcher he had learned -- did all they could to mend the broken male. Tending to his injuries as best she could, despite knowing much would never truly heal. However, in his stay Bryo told him stories of her own kin -- the Pearl Cerdae. He learned of the Viridian plant that gave all those of her kind a new life, a new purpose; of the gifts bestowed upon them in return for becoming one with the Viridian Labyrinth. Teaching Aron of this blessing and the oath made to the Great Tree, all things that seemed impossible to him now. Losing what he thought to be his purpose and his beloved pearl, his own spirit seemed to dim, growing weaker and weaker. Perhaps the Gladekeeper was watching over them, perhaps it was purely luck; but as his own hopelessness continued to consume him, Bryo returned to the den one day with a gift -- She had found his missing pearl. Although dulled from the fall and days lost it was, miraculously, intact and without permanent damage and Aron couldn't have been more grateful. And, while he still mourned the life he once had, Bryo offered him a choice.

A second chance at life, to be healed and made stronger by the Viridian plant, at the price of the wings and freedom of flight that he treasured so dearly. A choice he might have turned down had it been offered by any other. But, whether by the tender kindness of the Pearl Cerdae or the humbling hope that he may yet still find purpose in life once more, Aron accepted the Viridian seed, binding himself to the earth.

As the plant grew and transformed him, Aron stayed under the care of Bryo. Tending to as his body healed and keeping him company, listening to his own tales and stories of his clan and the daring feats he had claimed in the skies above. And, bit by bit, his battered body was mended. Bones were realigned and braced together, tendons and muscles reconnected until the day came where he could stand on his own. Each day Aron grew stronger and stronger, and each day, so too did the bond between him and Bryo grow.

In time, they were nearly inseparable. Soon enough, the den he had mended in became just as much of a home to Aron. Finding a place at Bryo's side as their mate, as one of the Pearl Cerdae. A new life that had welcomed him with open wings as he works to discover what lies upon the path he's chosen.

» While the Viridian plant healed him in ways nothing else could, so severe were his injuries that some things couldn't quite heal right. The vines that wrap around his hind legs are there to help support his limbs, acting more as a brace for days where the strength in his hindquarters fail him.
» Despite embracing the main customs and traditions of the Pearl Cerdae, donning their preference of loose apparel, Aron keeps his aviator gloves and goggles that had accompanied him on many a flight. A reminder of his clan and the life he had led before.
» Although much of his wings have deteriorated from the Viridian plant, from time to time, Aron will search for a high place to perch upon where he may sit with wings stretched out, allowing the wind to brush over whatever still remains of the wings he had once prized.
