The marketplace is one of the areas slated to be revamped to get off of legacy code and brought up to our current code standards. We're absolutely taking feedback we've received from the suggestions forum into account for that. As with most of our code updates, it's not just a port, but a QOL revamp using all of what we've learned and the feedback we've received over the years!

More parallel genes are appearing on ancient breeds, and alchemists discover a new scene!

Parallel Genes for Ancients

Several parallel genes are now available for ancient breeds! Clown and Eye Spots are now available for Banescale, Gaoler, and Veilspun. Ripple and Current are now available for Banescale and Gaoler. Falcon and Peregrine are now available for Banescales. Giraffe and Hex Are now available for Banescales and Veilspun. These genes can be found in the Treasure Marketplace.

Serpent Shrine Scene
Alchemists who have learned of the wonders of the serpent shrine's poisons and alchemy have endeavoured to recreate it. Alchemists levels 25 and above can brew Scene: Serpent Shrine at Baldwin's Bubbling Brew!

Additional Updates

• Swiftstride Soldier and Stonestomp Spearmaiden have had their hand artwork adjusted to better convey that they are aiming their javelins and not be perceived as performing a hateful salute. Players may need to clear their cache to see this change.
• Ripple and Current are now both uncommon genes in terms of inheritance. Previously they were mismatched as common/uncommon.

Chitinous Armor
Not one to waste a valuable resource, dragons have begun finding uses for some of the inedible carapaces that have been piling up behind the lair. Chitinous armor is now appearing in the treasure marketplace, and rarely from randomized chests and Pinkerton!

Galore may also have acquired some pieces that he'd be willing to share! Galore's gift will expire on January 18th at 23:59 server time, so make sure to collect it!

Corroding Chitinous Armor is now craftable over at Baldwin's Bubbling Brew for alchemists level 8 and above!

I can’t say 100% that mydmp is either a cause or symptom of the problem, but if it’s not showing up for most other players, that’s a hint that something isn’t right.

A malware scan from a program other than McAfee may help. It also could be a perfectly legitimate plugin making the call, although I believe @AnpuRa has already tried to disable plugins. Or it could even be McAfee itself, although I find it more likely something just snuck by.

@AnpuRa - Yup, that provides a shortened list of network calls, which is what I wanted to see.

One problem is that the 4th record is obscured by a popup text box, so I can't read it. However, I suspect it's also a "mydmp.exelator" call - note how that record has a status of "307" which is a type of redirect.

When I check that page, I do not see "mydmp" in my network calls. That doesn't mean it's malware - it could be a legitimate call that happens with some of our ads, but I think it may be more than that.

Would players following this thread be able to confirm whether or not "mydmp" shows up in their network calls as well, or if this appears to be something only on @AnpuRa's screenshots?

While we're waiting for others to test this, let's continue with the plan to temporarily turn off McAfee.

Excellent, yes. Assuming these screenshots were taken one right after the other, and I have no reason to doubt that, we can see that the hoard page is definitely adding new network calls.

I don't know why this wasn't the case originally, but it's precisely the sort of thing we need to dig deeper.

As you can see, there are a LOT of records that jumped into the list. So many records that the specific ones I'm looking for were probably scrolled off screen. I'd like to try to filter the list down a bit so we can get to just the records we need.

On the Network tab, you'll see a series of filters near the top:
All | HTML | CSS | JS |XHR | Fonts | Images | Media | WS | Other


Currently, "All" is selected. Please switch that to "XHR" and reload the hoard.

When things work correctly, you SHOULD receive at least one new record named "get-items" with a long string of random-logging text after it. Please include a screenshot of that result, regardless of whether or not that specific record was added to the list.

If the list contains more items than we can see, even after we added that filter, still include what you can in a screenshot. You may be able to increase the size of the developer console to show more.

That's some good news, for sure! I promise the code didn't change, so we had some sort of cache issue, perhaps.

Scene code is relatively simple compared to hoard. It doesn't shock me that it would be the easier fix.

I have a theory that combines several of the items we've covered, although I can't say for sure it's right. Disabling McAfee would still be the next test.

After that, I also remain suspicious of some of those network calls. The good news is that you were able to obtain a screenshot of your developer console network tab - which is more info that we had before, and very helpful!

Can you do that again, but this time note that records are in the network tab before you visit the hoard, then note what records, if any, are added to the list after you visit the hoard? I want to be sure that what I'm seeing is new Flight Rising network calls.

@AnpuRa - Great! Now that the scene showed up for you, can you provide an updated screenshot of the exact same page while logged in?

Please include the entire header for the site, just in case there's something higher up in the page that could be causing a problem.

Can you also confirm that hitting that scenic mode button gives you the more vibrant mode? If so, does it work both logged in and logged out? Or neither?

The code that controls scenic mode is MUCH simpler than the hoard code, but it's the only easy test I can think of that works both when logged in and logged out.

We can't know for sure, of course, but McAfee remains a prime suspect. The one piece of evidence that counts against it is that you've seen the problem on multiple computers which, we assume, don't all have the same extensions.

While I doubt the problem is with your account. we can test that fairly easily:

1. Sign out of your account
2. Clear your browser's cache again (just to make SURE you're 100% signed out)
3. Check @Darksilverhawk's dragon again to see if the scene shows up

If the scene shows up, at least some of the problem may be related to your login status. If it doesn't show up, then your account almost certainly has nothing to do with it.

I noticed in your screenshot that several records in the network tab are listed as "mydmp.exelator". I wasn't familiar with this domain, but a quick Google search indicates that it MAY be redirect malware. That would match up with the issue we're seeing.

To put it as simply as I can: When you click on an item, your browser is supposed to contact the site to get a list of possible actions to perform. But a bit of malware interrupts that signal and tries to redirect you to some other site. Fortunately, the way we've coded it, that redirect fails... but it still interrupted the intended action.

TLDR, my first recommendation is to try disabling McAfee as a test. Ideally with a complete uninstall, but disabling might be good enough. My second recommendation is to use a different malware detection tool to make sure McAfee didn't miss this exelator thing.

Hello all, we have made some changes to the way the Organize Party page communicates with our servers. This change specifically affects the act of modifying your Coliseum party (adding/removing/rearranging dragons). We hope this will fix the issue you're experiencing (Norton generating a false positive) as a result, and without requiring you to manually whitelist Flight Rising. Please let us know if this has improved things for you or not. We understand this has been a very frustrating issue interfering with many players' enjoyment of the Coliseum during Night of the Nocturne and we want to thank you for your patience as we work towards a solution.

The chest drop rates from gathering and coliseum remain unaltered. RNG at work. I hope your luck perks up!

Regarding smirch, we rebalance the chests every year so that they are weighted towards newer items. Smirch's odds are reduced as a result. The other change we made was eggs and scrolls are in a second pool, so you get them in addition to other drops, rather than instead of, though individual experience will vary with the RNG.

@pokemoncha I believe that that's from hiveworks itself, to be transparent and let you know how ads work and is required for GDPR. I'll verify to make sure. I know that we do have the pop up, but since I've already accepted I forgot what it looks like!

Edit: Verified with Jojo. Yes, that's Hivework's message. Basically when you visit the website your IP and the browser/device version is visible, and ads will use cookies.

On this, the shortest day of the year, Nocturne dragons rule the skies.

Night of the Nocturne is the annual celebration of one of Flight Rising's Limited breeds. Once a year, Nocturne breed change scrolls become available exclusively during this event! Nocturnes have a 30-day breeding cooldown and eat Meat and Insects.

Event Details

From now until January 3, 06:00 server time, it will be possible to obtain Nocturne Dragons in the following ways:

• Finding rare Unhatched Nocturne Eggs.
• Finding very rare Breed Change: Nocturne scroll items.

The items above will be found in Strange Chests--baffling containers left by the breed during their only two weeks of activity. Nocturnes aren't keen to just shower the realm in gifts, however. Several of these chests have a vicious mind of their own, and some are now known to be under the protection of some new clever and camouflaged foes...

In order to find these chests, use any gathering skill in any elemental region or battle Mimic monsters in the Coliseum. Mimics can be encountered in all Coliseum areas, with higher level mimics having a greater chance to drop a chest. New this year, all coliseum enemies will have a low chance of dropping event items, but mimics will have a much better chance than a normal opponent. If you can't battle, don't worry! Baldwin is always seeking new alchemists to help him craft the perfect brew to unlock the secrets of these chests.

It will also be rarely possible to find Unhatched Nocturne Eggs while scavenging in any elemental region.

After two weeks have passed, Nocturnes, their eggs, and their Strange Chests will become scarce until next year, when they again return.



To help kick off the event, we have granted all players an additional 15 Gathering Turns for today only! We recommend using them right away, because if they aren't, they'll disappear after the next rollover.
