[columns]
[nextcol]Dr. Hazel flinched slightly as the bird zoomed past her face in a gray streak, the wingtip just narrowly missing her horn.
"Aaaaand that's Early, of the Gladeveins Racing Cockatiels!" called out the announcer.
The bird zoomed in some complex movements Dr. Hazel had no idea a cockatiel was even capable of. He moved in figure eight patterns and wove around the heads of spectators.
"Cockatiels can fly at a top speed of 40 miles per hour!" said the dragon as the bird landed on his head. He reached an arm up for the bird to step on. "They are also accomplished singers!"
He placed the bird on a fancily decorated perch and the bird immediately started whistling a catchy tune, bobbing his head to the beat as he belted out the notes.
Ludmilla, sitting next to Dr. Hazel, whispered to her. "Is there anything this bird can't do?"
Dr. Hazel chuckled and shook her head. "Apparently not!"[nextcol]

The only birds that can fly backwards and upside down.
Their wings differs from most other types of birds. Hummingbirds have a unique ball and socket joint at the shoulder that allows the bird to rotate its wings 180 degrees in all directions. The shape of their wings are long, narrow, and tapered; which allows them. to move more quickly and easily though the air. Additionally the shoulder and elbow joints of the wing are very close to their tiny bodies, allowing the wing to tilt and pivot. These characteristics allow hummingbirds to change flight directions in a way other birds cannot.
