She could see the colored poles swaying slightly in the wind from the typical weather of the iceflight, tugging at her ski poles as she shifted on her feet. She was more prepared than some of the others in her little group, but she was still a new face to the winter games. She wasn't about to let that show here. She remembered thinking back on the form from earlier. Some of the others had seemed annoyed by it, to some degree, but it didn't matter much to her. She'd filled it out, just like they had. What mattered was that she get her name down for one of the events, and the slalom was perfect for her. She couldn't help but remember her own practice, even if she'd had to recruit Draugr's help to make the slope to work on. Well, and Chione for the poles. The skydancers knew what they were doing! She'd twisted and weaved through each gate, going as fast as she could without clipping a pole. She'd even decorated her practice poles back home with flowers, from snowdrops to asters, to give her that extra little boost to avoid clipping the poles at all costs. As she was given the clear to take off down the slope, all she could see were flowers wrapped around poles in the ground; She knew better than to shake a single one. Of course, that meant doubling up on events on some days, so Sapphire liked to arrange her events to reduce the amount of equipment changes and transit time per day. For example, today she was doing both cross-country skiing and ski jumping - once she was done with one event, she could just ski over to the next one without even needing to remove her skis. It was a convenient life hack that Sapphire had figured out after several years of competing.

As long as it wasn't blowing up the track to slow him down, there wasn't much of anywhere else it could bother him or mess up his run. And it sounded like the track he'd be running had just been cleared of loose snow - which made it the perfect time to take his shot. His regimen includes athletic glides and leaps that translate well to ski jumping, or so he'd like to think -- his experience is offset by the fact that he's never trained in the Icefield before. Like most Ancients, he doesn't wear clothing, though the cold is beginning to make him wish he'd opted for it. He gathers his strength and leaps into the air -- and as he does, he hears a great cheer burst from the stands where his clanmates have gathered. It's a tough competition, but as Aldebaran lands, he finds himself feeling reenergized -- and much warmer than before. Smiling and waving to the crowd, he glides to a halt and waits, calm and poised, for the officials' next words.

He passed by it with a rush of speed, snow blowing up in puffs as his momentum kept him going. He had guessed using his wings were forbidden, so he had to trust his control on the skis to keep him going. It took a few minutes finding the right size for him, guessing they don’t get many small breeds. He hoped the larger and smaller dragonswould be graded differently, since larger breed’s weight could impact their speed going down the course. Violetrune was nearing a sharp turn with a marker at the end, he was unsure if he’d be able to make it correctly without tipping over.. He braced himself, shifting his feet to catch it.

They stepped out onto the practice rink and heard some cheering and clapping already in the bleachers. Adrie darted her head around, no idea who could be at their random practice session that they hadn't told anyone about. Then, she saw their parents and Clan progenitors, Andromeda and Atlantis, whistling loudly in support. She laughed and nudged her siblings. "Surprise!!!" Andromeda had to shout for her voice to travel across the rink. Laiken twirled his hockey stick in response and Vivian clapped her hands together in excitement. Adrie exhaled quickly, a competitive grin spreading across her face. No pressure, right? "Get ready for the best practice session you've ever seen!"

It was her first winter in her Clan and definitely her first Sornieth Winter Games, so she was determined to make them proud. She had been selected this year because of Obelisks' naturally warm coats that suited them for snow, her enthusiasm, and because of her connection with the Icefields. She smiled as she looked over the hill she was on. It was almost all she could do not to bound off to roll in the snow and abandon her sled. She clenched her fluffy paws. No, it was time to focus! She got situated in her sled, ready to zip down the slope, but still couldn't resist the joyful grin that covered her face as her tail brushed the powdery snow.
