Flight Rising Discussion

I'm trying to flesh out my clan a little and I've been thinking, I want them to all have "jobs" Imean who's making clothes, blacksmithing, hunters etc. But i'm running out of ideas!!

Anybody wanna throw some ideas out there to help me?

Well one of the most important roles for a community that is often overlooked, if not THE most important, is the role of the Sanitation Worker. (Trust us, we live in plague territory, things can become a hot mess really quickly without them.) We have three here, granted two take the form of slime monsters that kinda roomba themselves about the place with the third being a guy that wrangles them.

But we've also got:
A butcher
A lampmaker and her apprentice
A mortician/speaker of the dead
A keeper of names
a pair of nest tenders
The earth scientist who gets to go out into the field because his master is too busy with her duties as earth representative
A barista and her smoothie loving friend
a science experiment
Some old dusty bones from days long passed.
A couple of beekeepers
A simple farmhand
An oracle with a gift of sight and an an oracle with a gift of perception.
A bard
A pastry chef
A couple of lamps (When you got lamp makers you gotta have lamps right?)
A youtuber
A digital artist
A gossip
and a couple of ghosts
among others.

i feel the most important thing is coming up with jobs or occupations is to have an equal amount of "essential" jobs as well as hobbies or passions, not only does it feel more realistic but you won't find yourself running out of ideas as easily.

It‘s probably been listed here before, but I p.e. made farming a very branched out profession in my clan (or at least it‘s gonna be fleshed out more). And if you‘ve got one profession, there‘s tons of jobs that it needs to keep running. The people with the know-how, which you‘ll need many of, because they‘re only gonna be knowledgeable in one field, then the field workers harvesting and planting and tending, then maybe some stock to help them and people to take care of that, as well as maybe some to keep the quarters clean and to cook. Maybe, depending on the area, you‘ll need guards specifically for the fields, and if you don‘t want guards, how about guard animals? Those would need trainers and caretakers themselves. If you have technology, it needs to be maintained and repaired. Just. What skills does the dragon have and what does the area offer in terms of work?

There's an old thread I have bookmarked [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/1372481#post_1372481][b]here[/b][/url] that has lots of options!! Sorted already too, and though I havent looked past the OP, or at least dont remember doing it, I'm sure lots of other posts have people listing more options! [emoji=new friend size=1]

Also don't forget, as your clan gets bigger, you're gonna start needing teams of dragons in the same profession. Your blacksmith or cook might start wanting an apprentice or two.

This topic got me to sit down and make a list of every dragon in my clan with a job! Enjoy my highly disputable categories. Is a witch really STEM?? idk???

It's worth noting that not every dragon has a job in my lore. Sometimes it's just not important to the character. A lot of people/dragons have a job because they need money for rent and food, but they certainly don't enjoy it and it's not a defining part of themselves. Like, if I were writing dragon bios for my friends, I might not talk about their jobs at all, but would talk about their sense of humor/pets/fandoms.

but also with my lore, i tend to not worry too much if im missing out on certain roles. for a long time, and sometimes its about vibes for a dragon.

who built the houses if the builder didnt move into the clan til recently? well, it doesnt matter. dont worry about it

also there's plenty of things that aren't "essential" jobs, like entertainers, bards, poets, etc etc

and you can get weird with it too. ive got a gravestone mason. there's no demand for graves in my clan but he makes them anyways for fun. dragons just buy em for decoration and not as actual grave markers.
