It might be an accent- but you're not entirely sure how that transparency on your accent will work. Well- here's a guide to help you figure out! This is a technique that our very own @SuburbanSamurai taught me when I came across this problem! It takes into account transparency and is simple to use. The only issue is that it's a photoshop thing- so for you people using SAI or other programs, sorry- this isn't the guide for you! Anyway- let's get started! First thing, you want to open up your accent with both the accent and the dragon base in separate layers. Okay- that was easy, right? Right. Next thing- you want to Ctrl. Click on the thumbnail image of your accent layer from the layers window. You should see your accent selected on the canvas like above. It won't select the really light parts- but it should get most of it! That's okay! Once you've got that done, you want to switch to the 'Channels' window. If you don't see the channels tab next to the layers, tab, go to Window > Channels. You should see the RGB, Red, Green, and Blue channel layers. You won't need to mess with any of these. Once you've got the channel tab open, click the button below that looks like a rectangle with a hole- it should say 'Save Selection as Channel' if you hover your mouse over it. If done correctly, it should create a white sillohutte of your accent in the layer thumbnail. Now go back to your main layers and ctrl+click the thumbnail of the layer that has the dragon base. As before, it should select the entire dragon- and nothing else. Once you do that, go back to the channels layer and click on the alpha layer. Okay- almost done! All that is left is to open up your histogram and see the results! The histogram can be accessed by going to Window > Histogram. Once you open the Histogram, make sure that the selected channel is Alpha 1. Look at the 'Mean' value- then divide that number by 255, then multiply by 100- that's the percentage of coverage. You now know if you accent can pass for a regular (or festival) accent! Note: Sometimes the mean displays incorrectly. To be safe, select another channel then go back to Alpha 1 to make sure it's showing correctly! Here's some quick values for you- to save time with the math part! 30% = 76.5 Mean 50% = 127.5 Mean

Okay- so you've got an accent you just made- but you're not QUITE sure it's actually an accent. It might be an accent- but you're not entirely sure how that transparency on your accent will work.

30% = 76.5 Mean
50% = 127.5 Mean
Thanks so much! I might just have to borrow a computer with PS and try this =)

@EchoEternal

Glad to be of help! And if you need, I'm more than willing to check for people who don't have photoshop!

@SuburbanSamurai

Yay! ^_^ I certainly hope this helps reduce the number of 'IS THIS UNDER 30%' questions you get in the Skin Problems/Help thread. xD If you want, you're more than welcome to link it (or use it) wherever you like. No credit needed! Just glad to be of help!

@Xazz

The images are appearing fine for me. Try hard-refreshing the page?

Edit: Ohh- I just hard refreshed. Strange that they'd break. I'll replace them shortly!

Edit2: Should be showing properly now.
