Buffer Prompt

A Drakeharvest prompt is coming soon! I want to wait until everyone's had a chance to experience the festival and what it's like to release a prompt on it.

Not every clan job is glamorous. Sure, there are leaders, nobles, scholars, bankers and the like, but what about the jobs that dragons don't want? In your clan, what positions are these? Who are the dragons unfortunate enough to be saddled with them? Do you think your clan would run well without dragons to operate these positions, or are these jobs necessary for its function? Tangentially, are they necessary for its prosperity? Are these positions perceived as important (though unpleasant), or are they looked down upon in general?

As always, I encourage everyone to brainstorm and bounce ideas off one another! You can also throw out some ideas for "dirty work" positions in hypothetical clans if you so wish. And, if you want to share dragons who are stuck with these sorts of positions in your clan, you can share up to three and how their lore relates to this prompt. :D This should be a fun one!

@IronPen An excellent question! I feel like this is open to interpretation, but I always viewed it as being the largest crests on the head, if only because I headcanon the smaller fins as being "sense receptors" similar to a cat's whiskers.

Pinglist was here.
I haven't seen one of these in a long time!

Most of the dragons in my lair have to highly public jobs, not the ones that go on behind the scenes. I have politicians, notaries, bartenders, and Doctors to name a few of those. The rough and gritty jobs I have made that I have no dragons for are as follows. I will also scale them from 1-5, five being, "that's fine," and one being, "Those poor, uncultured, unbathed peasants." Mind you that I imagine my clan to be in the hundreds of dragons, but most are not in the forefront of clan life like the ones I portray in my lair.

Street-sweepers - 2-3

Miners - 3-5

Caravanners - 4-5 (Traders get a better score because their jobs are often less menial)

Greasers - 4-5 (Dragons that do the menial work around the clan like maintenance or simple repairs - Often migrant)

Mudders - 5 (Dragons tasked with cleaning mud and detritus from the corners and such - Crossover with street-sweepers but mudders are dirtier)

Gardeners/Farmers - 2-3 (They help maintain the Communal Gardens in Tier 3)

Masons - 3-5 (They help lay foundations and walls for the clan.)

Interns - 1-2 (The sods stuck ferrying paper and apprenticing.)

The Centauri - 2-5 (Quite a varied group, but the Centauri often come to do heavy labor for dragon cash. They aren't quite treated as equals by most dragons because they are so different, but most dragons aren't outwardly hostile towards them.)

Serthis - 5 (Famed alchemists and hunters, Lone Serthis are often employed when available to do work in the background away from prying eyes because of the discrimination they face among dragons)

Those are a few at least!

When i think dirty jobs I think the really disgusting ones rather then ones that'll lead to mud in the den cause I grew up with Mike Rowe and him diving into sewers.

But in my clan we do have a farmer, an orchardist, some smiths, engineers and some miners so they're the traditional dirty jobs. The potter might also count. Fur trader does have to gut and tan the hides so that counts. Beekeeper and fisher apparently count so they're on the list. I got three ship dragons who's jobs include swabbing the deck and being powder monkeys. There's a demolitiondrake and a surgeon. I owned a familiar drop shop so that would definitely be on the list given some of the drops but I just sold her and haven't reassigned anyone else yet. Maybe bonecarver for sheer morbidity? There's no housekeeper right now but that would be the dirtiest job probably on my scale. The winemaker is also a pretty grueling and dirty job but Faith doesn't make a lot often.

Most of the 'dirty jobs' are left to dragons with handy skills as they come or beastclan that live with my dragons thought I don't write of them often, they basically serve and off-screen/background help.
Beekeeper and fisher apparently count so they're on the list.
Oh hey I have a beekeeper! Her role is an homage to her origin - she's from a friend's mass hatch. Said friend names all non-permanent dragons "Beekeeper", so that's what her name was when she came to me. I just recently decided to actually make it her job! I've got a couple blacksmiths, if that counts. It's more of a literal dirty job than a Mike Rowe dirty job lol, but... I'll definitely continue stalking the thread for ideas :P

The only dirty job I can really think of is my mortician and his assistants. This is Plague, so no one really bats an eyelash or treats him any differently for it. I guess necromancer may also count, but same thing. Death and blood don't bother most of my clan. Now I kinda want to make one of my dergs a plumber or something. On second thought, we also have a miner, but she somehow manages to look gorgeous even after a day spent underground. They were quite respected for their work. There was another group of farmers (basically) who were responsible for feeding the clan. Other dragons of the clan did poke a bit of fun at them, but overall they were seen as very important to the health of the clan (a dragon's gotta eat after all).
