It is our Avatar; a sliver of Shade itself, slipped past the watchful eyes of the False Gods, and brought to life through the trickery of our master, [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/58410779]Abran[/url], and the Priestess [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/63140258]Rhoslyn[/url]. I'm getting off track, though, back to the Constructs...[/columns]
[size=4][font=Copperplate]It was from this destruction -- the raw, slag-like material of destroyed buildings and roads -- that the first Shade Construct was made. It was called [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/63945862]Eurydice[/url], named by the [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/60400926]Harbinger[/url] and [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/57149135]Herald[/url] of the Stockade. But we're not here to talk about [i]that one[/i], as glorious as Eurydice's downfall had been, she was a failure of a firstborn. The ones who followed were much stronger.
[url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/64065003][b]Liriel[/b][/url] was made from the slag of a melted wagon, shards of broken pottery, and the bones of something freshly deceased. Though she isn't the smartest Construct, she showed the true power of the beings that can be molded out of the remains of the Abomination's feeding.
[url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/63798007][b]Lavrenti[/b][/url] was the next to be made. From the riches of a destroyed bank, melted jade was formed into an approximation of a beast; the sculptor then plucked a blackbird from the sky, and inlaid it's spirit into the stone. The resulting creation was draped in the pelt of a wolf. This one is [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/67160930]Dominic's[/url] favorite.. Though I personally find it disquieting to see something that looks so similar to a dragon be treated as any old mongrel.
The fourth is called [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/73894246][b]Kova[/b][/url]; designed after Abran's traitorous assistant, Kova is unlike the others. It's not built to fight, it merely exists as a petty distraction and an experiment. It was formed from a melted altar, bedrock slag, and some extra ingredient that Abran never revealed to me.
[url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/79532097][b]Treowe[/b][/url] was formed next, from the carapace of a large insectoid I found, melted cords, and a toxin I absolutely intended to add. Treowe is my pet project, and he stands strong and tall! He contains no imperfections, though I'd prefer if he'd stop pretending to be semi-aquatic just so I'll let him sleep in a nearby marsh.
The sixth is called [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/80126008][b]Sigrunn[/b][/url]. Yet another one of Abran's projects, though certainly a useful one this time. Though delicate physiologically, Sigrunn has almost sentient-level intelligence! Perhaps because it was formed from the melted ruins of a library, or perhaps the smoke and ash from the Abomination gave it some extra power, though it could also be that circuit board Dominic dropped into the mixture.

We were desperate for another miracle, and so we gathered the useless remains of vegetation; downed fir trees, burnt crops, even the remains of slain livestock. Through this, Ardler was formed; though he is a disappointment, as I should've expected. He lacks the intelligence of his direct predecessor, and is physically quite frail.

They were created from the leftover destruction from a rogue Shade Avatar -- not to worry, it's perfectly contained underneath our feet. The Shade-Touched are a different breed, since they come from a dragon who then becomes corrupted, instead of being created from corruption.
...The madness? Well, there's no other way to describe it. It takes different forms; it can make a dragon angrier, more frightened, more flighty, or anything else. It's the one trait that most Shade-Touched share. The technique to keep the madness from claiming a dragon touched by the Shade is known only by those Shadebound cultists and others of their kind.
The Shade-Touched can occur anywhere, and while places like this one exist to contain them, it's impossible to prevent them from being created entirely. That's why I've taken it upon myself to keep track of the known Shade-Touched all across Sornieth, and share information about them. I also keep track of the Shade Constructs, but there's only seven of them, so it's not particularly difficult.
It'd be impossible for any additional Shade Constructs to be created with the Abomination imprisoned."

An uncommon variant of Shade-Touched. It's unknown why these dragons retain such bright colors after their corruption, but many theorize it's to attract other dragons to them and hide from any Gaoler Seekers. These tend to be intelligent, with enough personality left to carry a conversation; though they lack any long-term memory whatsoever.

Though their existence isn't particularly rare, it's incredibly rare to see one up and about as they are hunted ruthlessly by enemies of the Shade. Half Shade-Touched are dragons on their way to full corruption, though they still retain their original personality and memories. However, it's easy to see the corruption which clings to them.

Some Shade-Touched, the lucky few, are granted immense magical powers by the Shade. These Seers gorge themselves on the Shade's magic, and in turn, become obsessively loyal to the entity that grants them such power. Seers are nocturnal by nature, and someday will burn through the magic they've been gifted and become regular Lost Shade-Touched.

When the Astrolab crashed, so did the unfortunate prisoners kept aboard the vessel. These Aethers had been infested by some sort of parasite from space, a familiar enemy of the Arcanist. The Infested are controlled wholly by their Shade-Touched parasite, which makes them revert to a bestial, feral state. The Infested, if the parasite is removed, would remain as Shade-Touched though the effects would surely be lessened.

The most common form of Shade-Touched; these poor individuals have been corrupted by the Shade, and lost their original personalities and memories. The further their corruption progresses, the more they lose sight of the world around them. Most do not worship the Shade, as they lack the clarity of mind to worship anything.

A beast that originates from the seven Shade Construct progenitors. The more the Construct blood dilutes, the more dragon-like the descendant becomes; however, they all carry a touch of corruption that makes most dragons wary.

Must be descended from the seven Shade Construct progenitors.
They can also specialize as Lost, Bright, Half, Seer, etc.
Bright Shade-Touched
An uncommon variant of Shade-Touched. It's unknown why these dragons retain such bright colors after their corruption, but many theorize it's to attract other dragons to them and hide from any Gaoler Seekers. These tend to be intelligent, with enough personality left to carry a conversation; though they lack any long-term memory whatsoever.

Though their existence isn't particularly rare, it's incredibly rare to see one up and about as they are hunted ruthlessly by enemies of the Shade. Half Shade-Touched are dragons on their way to full corruption, though they still retain their original personality and memories. However, it's easy to see the corruption which clings to them.

Some Shade-Touched, the lucky few, are granted immense magical powers by the Shade. These Seers gorge themselves on the Shade's magic, and in turn, become obsessively loyal to the entity that grants them such power. Seers are nocturnal by nature, and someday will burn through the magic they've been gifted and become regular Lost Shade-Touched.

Infested Shade-Touched
When the Astrolab crashed, so did the unfortunate prisoners kept aboard the vessel. These Aethers had been infested by some sort of parasite from space, a familiar enemy of the Arcanist. The Infested are controlled wholly by their Shade-Touched parasite, which makes them revert to a bestial, feral state. The Infested, if the parasite is removed, would remain as Shade-Touched though the effects would surely be lessened.
