Like a lazy cat napping in a sunbeam, most wouldn't think Cadence anything beyond a lumbering agent of the Shade with blood too cold to properly enact any chaos. But Cadence is not a lazy cat napping in a sunbeam, she's an intelligent sorceress with a mean protective streak and a heap of rightful self-confidence.

She has been taking care of her younger sister, Cecile, for as long as she can remember; she cannot recall any other family, but she boldly assumes they were abandoned at a young age due to something Cecile likely did to anger their parents.

Cadence remembers her time before the Shade seeped from her body like sticky tar, and she remembers the time after, but the event itself escapes her memory. She also doesn't remember being taken into custody, and is vehement that her and Cecile's imprisonment is unjust and constantly looks for a way to escape.
