Biography

Sulevi and his three brothers hatched during Brightshine Jubilee when the hatchery was filled with hatchlings. He was the second youngest of the brothers, twins Hougen and Genba were older than him while Ooze, the only bogsneak, was younger. The brothers weren’t the closest, the twins basically only hanged out with each other being mean to everyone else they even mocking Sulevi for his single horn. Ooze on the other hand preferred to be on the sidelines or in some kind of hide, but there were other hatchlings to hang out with and Sulevi got along with them nicely enough.

After the hatchlings were old enough they left the hatchery and went their separate ways to find their calling. Most of them seemed to have some kind of idea of what they wanted to do but not Sulevi. None of Kaamos’ stories had inspired him and he did not have parents to act as role models. He had his mother but his father remained as mystery. According to the older residents he was some kind of familiar who was turned to a dragon but Sulevi found that hard to believe. None of the four brothers shared genes with their mother, besides spines, nor did they share patterns or features with any of the familiars Sulevi could name. Most logical answer was that he was just a normal bogsneak who just refused to show up.

Unsure what to do with his life Sulevi just wandered around the lair and often found himself in the familiar den. He had some kind of affinity towards rodents especially to the point that Pinkapi started to call him “rat”. Maybe he smelled like one for spending so much time with them. Sulevi was not sure why but he felt like he could understand the small creatures to some extend even when they could not speak, and he felt like they likewise understood him. The old tundra who understood familiars fully mentioned once that the rodents found him familiar. Sulevi did not know how, unlike the tundra he did not have familiar powers.

One evening Sulevi had been cleaning his nest. He was carrying rocks out when a ragamouse ran to him. He could not speak but from the way he moved it was clear that something was amiss and he wanted Sulevi to follow, now. The dragon threw the rocks into a pile and ran after the mouse. As he followed the rodent he soon smelled blood and eventually he found the source, Ooze’s lifeless body. Sulevi stood there stunned for a moment before he realized he should report the find. The trail of the attacker was still visible and if he hesitated they could get away.

The body was just outside the lair area. Sulevi turned around, ran back to lair and shouted there was a dead body. Soon enough older dragons rushed to examine the scene and they were fast to start a chase to catch the guilty. It didn’t take long as they were in the lair where they were fast surrounded and captured. Sulevi followed the older dragons and once he saw the criminal, or criminals, he had to stop to process the information. The ones that had killed Ooze were Hougen and Genba. The twins were held against the temple floor by bigger dragons their claws red with their brother’s blood. The two were mean, rude even, but Sulevi would have never expected them to be murderous. It was too much and he decided to leave the scene to let his head clear.

Sulevi was feeling tired during the trial that was held the following night. He had not slept well, instead he had seen a nightmare about being killed just like Ooze. That seemed to be reasonable fear. The twins admitted they had killed their brother because he had overheard their plan to kidnap Richard. The poet had a bounty on his head and the twins were thinking about selling him to Pahatar for easy money. They were not sorry about what they had done and thought about doing and such Karmiini decided the young pearlcatchers should leave the clan for good. Sulevi watched as his brothers were escorted out. He was not that close with them but he knew them well enough; they would try again.

Sulevi was feeling uneasy following the trial and exile. He avoided the edges of the lair and stayed where there were a lot of eyes to see the brothers in case they managed to get past clan’s defense ring. Dustin’s death sometime after the trial didn’t make him feel any better. Losing his coeval prevented Sulevi from sleeping the following day and he was fast to react to the unusual voices that came from aboveground. There Rigel, who most likely had likewise struggled to sleep after losing his brother, was battling against the twins. The lone spiral was struggling against the two bigger dragons but luckily the noises had woken up the residents and they came to help the warrior trainee. Throughout that Sulevi just stood at the tunnel network entrance afraid to get too close to his brothers.

Hougen and Genba were driven out again and Starfall decided to take the job to clog the hole the twins had used to bypass clan’s defense; the dreamwood gate in the starwood lair. Meanwhile Rigel decided to protect the clan from inside. Sulevi still had no role of his own nor did he have any ideas of what he should be. He wondered if he should do something to prevent his brothers from causing any more harm than what they had already done, they were his brothers after all. However, the thought about going against the two ruthless dragons scared him and he doubted he would do any good as a guard or warrior. Feeling lost he decided to visit his mother for advice, she was the only family he had left in the clan, if he ignored his half-siblings who were beyond distant to him.

Sulevi had interacted with Hattara before, the two had occasionally been assigned to same gathering group, but they had never really talked. Sulevi felt a bit nervous when he approached the old lady who was currently helping with decorating the clan. The fire holiday was just around the corner. She though had time to chat and the two went somewhere peaceful to talk. Sulevi explained that he felt like he should get himself a role in the clan but he could not think of anything he wanted or could do. Hattara supported her son saying she had lived in the clan for years and she still had no role either. She just helped the clan when needed, joined gatherings, fixed stuff so it could be sold to travelers, made items for residents to use and helped to decorate the lair for festivities and that was enough for the clan. Sulevi was a bit skeptical but his mother assured him and the two decided to go continue the decorating.

Sulevi took his mother’s words to heart and stopped worrying about what role he should have. He just lived simply and filled the role that needed filling any given night, and if there was no role to fill he helped Pinkapi with her familiars. If someone questioned his decision, it was his coevals who all had their roles. They though understood when Sulevi explained himself and didn’t ask more questions. All the older dragons were fine with the decision from the start, none of them had ever asked what he planned to become anyway. All they said that as long as Sulevi didn’t just freeload he was allowed to do whatever he wanted to do with his life, besides illegal stuff. Sulevi took it easy in his life trying to not worry too much but at times he found himself wondering what his brothers were up to. There had not been a sign of them since the second attempt.

Traits

Sulevi is an arcane pearlcatcher who is overall black in color. His body is decorated by light blue patches while his wings, cheek fur and mane are decorated by pink arch like markings. The tufts on his legs are muted pink. On his back he has light grey spines running from the horn all the way to the tip of the tail and on the sides of the neck he has smaller spines. He was assigned female at hatching and as such he only has one horn though there is a small bump where the second one would be growing from. His pearl is grey-hued and his eyes are pale pink.

Sulevi lives simply and as a dragon without a clear role he has been allowed to wear whatever he finds comfortable. He wears a dark and light grey vest, black striped pants, black sandals, grey cabbie and white tie. On his face he has blue shades that have been enchanted to help seeing in low lighting while also allowing protection from bright light. They are worn for the look more so than for any practical use.

Sulevi has very polite and casual tone in his speech though his way of speaking can at times be quite formal. He puts a lot of effort into being clear and as such he is easy to understand in almost every situation. He has mild Swedish accent.

Sulevi is a chill dragon who enjoys simplicity and minimalism. He doesn’t care to have too much, for him less is not necessarily more but enough. He doesn’t like stressing over things and generally likes to take things slow and easy. He may go where the line is at its lowest but generally he want to do his best if he is going to do something. It is just very unlikely for him to go the extra mile. Sulevi is an unusual arcane dragon in a sense that he doesn’t really dream outside of sleeping. He has his things that would be nice but he wants to avoid stressing over hard to achieve things and keeps his dream close to ground so to speak. He doesn’t feel need to reach for stars when he already has everything down here.

Sulevi is a social dragon and is often seen in gatherings, parties and other community events. Being a dragon who enjoys simplicity and minimalism he is rarely to catch anyone’s eye and he isn’t really that talky, though he answers if asked and has no troubles keeping conversation going. Someone though needs to start that conversation first. As a company Sulevi is polite, considerate and generally very friendly. He is great company for almost every occasion and rarely has issues with lending a hand. His lack of dreams is both a blessing and a curse as he is unlikely to oppose someone’s idea, assuming it wont cause harm to others, but at the same time he rarely offers any suggestions of his own.

Sulevi has always had a soft spot for rodents and he is often seen being accompanied by them. There though is one who is seen with him more often than others and that is his ragamouse Waldo. The little guy is often seen travelling on his dragon companion’s hat or on shoulders and he likes to help his dragon companion any way he can considering he is both small and incapable of speaking. Despite of that Sulevi understands him well enough and the mouse understands the dragon as well even though he struggles to understand others. The two are very close and treat each other like family.

Swearing for simplicity Sulevi hasn’t really practiced with magic. He knows the basic levitation and size changing spells as well as a fusing spell for when he is tinkering but otherwise he swears for natural working methods. He isn’t outstanding with his hands but he is good with fixing and making general stuff like small tools and decorations. He can also whistle and snap his fingers, though he tends to do them accidentally when working and rarely on purpose.
