Setting aside time for lore writing is very important, so think of this as your FR homework and try to do it at a certain time on the same day of the week. Getting a schedule down makes it so you actually work on lore. Not… how I did it and wait two years before writing the next bit to a story... The goal of this series will be to release a different topic each week and be finished with the basics of clan lore within 6 months so anyone can participate no matter how far along you are currently. Chapter 6. One Eventful Day

Today's writing prompt will be centered around something big. Really big! What is or what was a really big day in your clan? Something that involved as close to all your dragons as possible.

Was the problem inside or outside?
Examples of inside are: Mutiny or class disruption. Clan moves to a different flight. Maybe all of your hatchlings are gone and every able body needs to go search for them. A wedding trade from a rival clan.
Examples of Outside are: Threat like beast clan or another dragon clan. Fire, flood or other weather related event that threatens the home's entire structure.

What made this problem a serious challenge for your dragons?
Did someone have to do something they weren't comfortable with?
Did that dragon learn how to do something new or otherwise gain a new confidence? Did another dragon get a new fear or otherwise fail at the task?

How has your clan changed to adapt to this big threat, to prevent it from happening again?

Chapter 6. One Eventful Day

Today's writing prompt will be centered around something big. Really big! What is or what was a really big day in your clan? Something that involved as close to all your dragons as possible.

Was the problem inside or outside?

There have been four major events in the Quarry's history. Number one was outside threat. It was when my clan was located in the Crystalspine Reaches as a new menagerie of dragons. A larger, more aggressive clan chased them out only a little while after they had settled, forcing them to leave everything they had begun to build. They had to migrate southwards into the Starwood Strand, avoiding the enemy clan, dealing with wild beasts, aggressive clans, and each other. Only a few were left by the time they found the Quarry and cleared it of water, but they had also picked up a few new members.

Number two has been around for centuries, but the clan didn't have to deal with them until they traveled southward. The Serthis have been a plague on the region for millennia since the ancient faes and Centauri had been making their first contacts. Now, every few decades, the Serthis flood from the South East to wreak havoc. Most soldiers are taught how to fight them specifically too, just in case. Stray groups are also common, but entire masses of them only show up when they gain critical mass. With the recent weakening of the dragon groups in the area, the increasing detachment between clans, and the growing cooperation between the beastclans, the Serthis have been getting bolder and bolder and they are taking and holding more territory. That hasn't happened in millennia.

Number three was about seventy years ago, the clan faced yet another challenge. By the time this next one occurred, the Quarry had became a fortress essentially, with militia, hundreds of dragons, a bustling market district, and dozens of caravans, crafts dragons, and other miscellaneous services. Meanwhile, in the Golden Mile, a valley between two parallel mountain chains to the east, a colony of several Imperials had just been buried by a rockslide. Out came an emperor when frantic neighbors came to help them. It rampaged up the Mile, northward, destroying everything in its path, adding to its mass, and draining the magic from the countryside. Dozens of clans rained down on the beast for weeks, hundreds of trained soldiers, mages, and farmers from across the region, including several dragons from my clan.

Number four was my clan's power core, an Arcane Assimilator that absorbs magic from the environment to produce electricity. It was imploded due to sabotage that cut power to the clan, injured dozens of dragons, killed more than that, messed up the weather and ground stability, as well as releasing a bunch of spirits and demons into the clan, upsetting those that were already there and destabilizing magic.

What made this problem a serious challenge for your dragons?

My clan was small and weak for number one, my clan did not know about the Serthis until they were basically being attacked by the Serthis, an Emperor was completely unprecedented, even considered a myth by many. My clan was completely dependent on its mages and core as well, so the core breach really messed up everything.
Did someone have to do something they weren't comfortable with?

Most of my clan was forced to make hard choices. Dragons that had never fought before had to kill others. One of my dragons, the librarian is so terrified of dying, perhaps caused by this, that he has basically made himself indestructible by layering defensive magic over himself. He made his library into a pocket dimension doing the same thing. The Matriarch became more pragmatic and less optimistic too.

Did that dragon learn how to do something new or otherwise gain a new confidence?

The librarian lost some confidence but the matriarch became a bit more hardcore.

Did another dragon get a new fear or otherwise fail at the task?

My clan's Captain of the guard felt pretty weak after the clan was founded because of how she wasn't strong enough to protect it the first time. Now she's trying to protect the clan as well as everyone in it at once.

How has your clan changed to adapt to this big threat, to prevent it from happening again?

The clan is highly defensible now and has a close eye on foreign relations between on clans so as to avoid being forced out. The clan is ready for the Serthis and its soldiers know how to fight them. The clan is also keeping an eye out for more emperors, but Imperials are already ceremoniously cremated and spread far apart from each other. Most Imperials also stay far apart from one another and they don't fight alongside each other. The Core has been inoperable for the last few years and the clan has developed many new methods of containing spirits and magic.
