They started with a nest of 5 eggs! So their little clan grew fast. Their firstborn son, [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=view&id=10694&tab=dragon&did=54008]Farius[/url], went to live in a Wind clan and that clan sent one of their sons, Glacier, to live in the Reef as a way to forge a strong alliance. Both have thrived. Glacier has remained all this time and will probably always stay here. Oceania currently has several of her sons working as her advisors. Both Myst and River do a wonderful job and plan to stay in the Coral Reef for now. Her daughter Everglades has remained in the clan too and works as the Information Specialist. Many of her other offspring have grown up and gone off to work in the Spiral Keep for the Tidelord. A few have traveled to other lands. Sornieth was so sparsely populated back then and there were hardly any resources to be had and everything seemed like a struggle. I am so glad we persevered though because our clan is thriving now. We hold vast territories in the Sea of A Thousand Currents. Since our clan is so large, we have been able to branch out into many areas of interests. The dragons here are busy working to improve the clan all the time. Every one gets trained. We have lots of traders and merchant dragons that travel all over Sornieth to bring back goods to the clan. In the Coral Reef Clan, dragons are allowed to choose their own jobs. Most dragons will apprentice for awhile in different jobs to find one they like. Dragons are free to switch jobs at any time too. This way, everyone is happy and enjoys their work. We have vast underwater farms, hoard warehouses, shops, libraries, schools and much more. We are constantly adding new areas to the Reef. Also, some of our dragons are travelers, going to other areas to bring back goods from far away. These dragons usually travel in pairs (for safety). I have heard stories of clans ravaged by disease [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=mb&board=frd&id=1150203&page=1](Nuzlocke lairs)[/url] and others that are constantly at war with the Beastclans. I feel fortunate that SandDune and I founded our lair on an isolated atoll in the middle of the Sea of A Thousand Currents. We have been able to remain at peace with the surrounding clans and have not been bothered by the beastclans here. Although, we are aware of the volatile nature of many areas of Sornieth, we have not been too affected by them. I appointed SandDune to oversee the training of all the Coral Reefs inhabitants as a precaution though. My aim is to have all the clan be fully trained. I am hoping that any enemy that contemplates moving against us will reconsider when they see our strength. He immediately implemented an intense training program and I am happy to say most of the clan has reached Master status (Level 25)." While the clan has recorded history from the time Oceania and SandDune arrived on the island they later named Safe Haven, there is no information on where either of them came from nor what they had been doing before they arrived on Safe Haven. When asked about it, Oceania says she cannot remember, as her Tundra memory has forgotten all that was before. She only remembers the founding of the clan as well as she does because she and SandDune kept a recorded history from that point on and she reads it regularly. SandDune on the other claw, is not, nor has never been a tundra with bad memory. When pressed, he says nothing of consequence happened before the founding of the clan and therefore, there is nothing to tell.

This helps keep our clan separate from the chaos and violence that is present in some areas. Individual lairs are spread out through the clans territory. The ridgebacks for instance, have their lairs on the beaches of the islands of the atoll. What does your lair look like? Go into detail.[/b] The clan maintains as their territory a large atoll in the middle is the Sea of a Thousand Currents. There are 5 main islands and a few smaller islands. They utilize the surface of the islands as well as the reefs and waters in the middle and that surround and make up the atoll. [center] [color=#026def][b]The Surface[/b][/color][/center] [b]A.[/b] The largest of the islands is called [b]Safe Haven[/b]. This is where Oceania and SandDune first settled and started the clan. It is heavily wooded, with a large mountain range honeycombed with a vast cave system. The entire island is criss-crossed with paths to help the dragons get to wherever they need to go. [b]B.[/b] The next island is called [b]Treasure island[/b]. It is about half the size as Safe Haven and is where the ridgebacks of the clan make their lairs. It has wide sandy beaches, perfect for lolling in the sand and sun-bathing. Many of the guest lairs are found here as well, for those guests that can't adjust well to sleeping under the water. [b]C.[/b] The third island is called [b]Hibiscus Island[/b]. Here the artists in the clan have set up an artists pavilion. There are cultivated gardens, hedge mazes, and paths that lead to all sorts of little nooks for reading a good book, or to spots with fantastic views to paint. [b]D.[/b] The fourth island, the second largest, is left completely wild as a [b]game preserve[/b]. The dragons in Island Maintenance still keep an eye on everything. There are no lairs or activities on the island except for hunting and gathering to maintain the clan's food stores. There is a good sized fresh water pond on the southwest side of the island known as the Turtle Pond. [b]E.[/b] The last island, [b]Crane Island[/b], is the smallest of the main islands and is maintained as a bird Sanctuary. During low tide, there is a sandbar bridge that connects it to Safe Haven. On the side that faces the Game Preserve, there is a deep channel, so the predators in the Game Preserve cannot cross over to the Bird Sanctuary. There is no hunting allowed on Crane Island. They did have to relocate to the edge of the Sunbeam Ruins once when the volcano that makes their atoll was in danger of erupting. But they moved back to their beloved home once the danger had passed and have no plans to move again. (Although, I am in the Light flight (and now Earth), my clan will always be a Water clan.) [b]4. What would be the deciding factor in a move, if the clan had to?[/b] Only if staying in their home caused the clan to be in mortal danger would they move. They would definitely find a place near the water, no matter what realm they found themselves in, for whatever reason. [b]6. How does the clan view those from different Flights? Does your clan have a council? An elected group of dragons in power?[/b] Yes. The Coral Reef Council. This voluntary body of dragons help advise Oceania in the running of the clan. This ensures that nothing gets overlooked and helps keep everything running smoothly. It is made up of Oceania and SandDune (clan founders), her sons Myst and River (Advisors), her daughter Everglades (Info specialist), all the beastclan liaisons, all the flight ambassadors, plus the Clan Ambassador Maui and Mediator Amazon. A total of 24 members. River, Abyss and Meadow pull double duty on the council. River is an advisor and the Beastclan Liaison overseer. Abyss is the clan's Serthis liaison as well as the Shadow flight ambassador and Meadow is the clan's Dryad liaison as well as the Natuer flight ambassador. [b]16. Are all dragons in the clan expected to contribute in some way? Or are they left to their own devices?[/b] It’s not mandatory, but the dragons that come to the Coral Reef clan and choose to stay tend to want to be a part of making the clan and reef the best it can be. [b]17. Who protects the clan? Who is in charge of battling/guarding?[/b] One of the main policies of the Coral Reef clan is that every dragon must be fully trained. This allows the clan to live in peace as no one is dumb enough to attack a clan with over 400 fully trained dragons. SandDune is in charge of the clan's training program. 1. Invaders - Other dragons, beastclan, maybe an angry bug that just wants a new home and is drilling in your tree... How defendable is your lair? If something were to get in, how would it do it?

The clan has many security positions to keep the clan protected. There are dragons that patrol and sentries posted around the reef and scouts. Waterfall is a spy and keeps an eye on the surrounding clans and beastclans. And Everglades is the clan's information specialist and compiles all the intel that comes into the reef.

All the permanent members of the clan are fully trained and that fact is widely known in the surrounding areas, which has proven to be a deterrent to any thinking about attacking. As far as creatures possibly attacking, again, there are plenty of dragons with the proper training to handle just about anything.
2. Justice - Depending on what someone does, the punishment might be to work off the debt somewhere on the reef. If it is very serious, they might be sent to the Fortress of Ends in the Southern Icefield. So far, only minor things have happened in the reef by misguided guests. After being caught (stealing from the storerooms for example), they were questioned and offered a chance to work off the debt, equal to the value of the items stolen.

38. Does your clan have a set of rules or guidelines for the members? What happens if a dragon breaks these rules?

3. Hoard - The clan has several storerooms for different items. There is one main storeroom where all the items gathered by the clan are brought to be sorted. This is run by the Imp brothers Flotsam and Jetsam. Kauai oversees the Food storerooms.

All the dragons in the clan have their own personal hoard. But the clan as a whole maintains large hoards of all sorts of things. Flotsam and Jetsam oversee all the items that come into the clan. Sending things to the various sub-hoards to be stored. Kauai oversees the food hoards.

The World Outside

1. RESOURCES - Food The clan maintains several farms, both above and below the water. There are plenty of seafood to be found in the coral reef, the surrounding Sea of a Thousand Currents and in the Turtle Pond. There is all kinds of insects that live in the forests and meadows of the islands and in the cultivated gardens. And lastly, there is a very large Game Reserve on the second largest island.

Materials The clan travels all over Sornieth scavenging items, buying and trading with other clans for any raw materials needed.
2. TRADING - The Coral Reef clan trades all over Sornieth. They produce all sort of items for themselves and to sell and trade. Armor, jewelry, clothing, confectionary, foodstuffs, artwork, flowers, etc.

Many of the dragons in the Coral Reef like to get items from their homelands and ShellStrike, Mangrove and RedTide do their best to acquire whatever is desired.

18. Does your clan trade with any other clans? Any allies? Enemies?
The Coral Reef Clan does tons of trading all over Sornieth. They have allied with many other dragon clans, brokered peace with the nearby Beastclans, and do not consider any creature in Sornieth to be an enemy, although they do sometimes have skirmishes with the beastclan in the wilds of Sornieth.
3. GUESTS - The clan welcomes guests to the reef. They can take a self-guided tour if they like. Visitors are invited to join in any of the clan's activities that interest them.

4. WEATHER - The reef is tropical, so it is warm year round. They have many afternoon thunderstorms in the summertime and the occasional hurricane, but it is mostly sunny.

• Job selection - When dragons are old enough for responsibilities in the clan, they become apprentices. They may choose which job to apprentice and they may try several jobs to find work that suits them. When a dragon finally decides on a permanent position, there is a huge party thrown on the beach and the entire clan celebrates.


• Anniversaries are a big deal in the Coral Reef clan. Particularly the anniversary of the clan being formed by Oceania and SandDune. Its a holiday for all. There are games and parties and feasts and dancing to all hours of the night around a huge bonfire on the beach. Gifts are exchanged. Many, many stories are told about the beginning days of the clan. Everyone gets a chance to share how they came to live on the reef. No one minds hearing these stories over and over every year, rather they rejoice at how they all ended up here together.



• Flight festivals - Every month the clan sends a delegation to the Sornieth realm that is celebrating its festival. Dragons apply in advance to be included in the delegation. Everyone in the clan is eligible with priority given to any dragons native to that realm. Sometimes the delegations are small (not many want to go to the Scarred Wasteland) while some delegations are huge (everybody wants to go to the Nature festival, but someone has to stay home to attend to the reef).
