Chapter 5. Three Mundane Days
Today will be a more relaxed week. Today's topic will be centered around what happens in your clan on a typical day. We will be incorporating everything from all the other lessons thus far from what your lair looks like down to how the personality of the dragon affects interactions.
Pick a dragon and follow it around from the time it gets up to the time it sleeps. It may not be something someone else would be interested in reading, but it'll help you explore your dragons a bit.
Weir
What do they do?
Weir is a clan guard and is specialized in defensive tactics. Her rounds are the most regular of all the guards and she knows well ahead of time when she will be working.
Do they hunt? Study? Train?
In the mornings, after waking up, grooming her feathers, and eating something, Weir takes a run and a few flights around as a work out, among strength and endurance training. Then she dons her armour, which is very heavy, and walks her circuit around the clan.
Do they have company?
Usually, Weir will guard on her own, but she might cross paths with one of the other guards;
Cato,
Nyura, perhaps
Xian, and maybe
Shaw. She’ll converse as she’s doing her rounds, or she’ll take a break to chat. The regulations for the guards are fairly light so that they aren’t dulled by monotony.
Stein, Weir’s best friend, may also show up if he’s not busy and if she has early morning or evening rounds, as he cannot spend much time in the light. They can spend a long time walking together considering both of them have tremendous endurance.
What do they eat for meals?
Weir can consume both bugs and plant matter, so fresh salads are usually good, as they often contain both. She may also snap a bug out of the air as she’s working. She may snack upon plants, especially weeds, that she comes across. The gardeners in the clan appreciate it greatly if the weeds are eaten instead of their actual attempts at growing something. Before Weir works out in the morning, she eats and then she may have several small inputs throughout the day. Usually, she has a small meal after she gets off of work, but she keeps a pretty straightforward diet otherwise. Sometimes, Stein might bring by some fruit for her as well.
Do they company for those meals?
As explained before, Stein is the most likely to be her company while she eats, as he often brings her some lunch. Nyura is carnivorous, Xian is too orderly to bring food, and Cato eats very little, so she doesn’t get much eating company with them.
Where do they eat them?
Weir will usually eat wherever she is at the time she gets food, whether that be in a store, in the Garden, or near the library. Sometimes, her armour gets a bit toasty, so she has to find shade to sit in. When it comes to her morning meal, it is usually in her home in the Residential district. The same might apply to her post-rounds meal.
Weir has problems with her armour’s intense weight and heat issues. Though highly resistant to heat, her armour is dense and collects a whole lot of it towards her body. This means that she cannot function well in heat or if she is too overexerted. It is incredibly heavy as well which gives her great defence but poor movement speed. She sometimes has to break up squabbles or keep someone from breaking an Arenji follower.
______________
Ricca
What do they do?
Ricca is a battlemage in training in the clan’s Circle of Magi, a school for aspiring mages.
Do they hunt? Study? Train?
Ricca spends much of her time studying and training. She is a great mage, but is under a lot of pressure by her family to better and stronger so that she can lead them when she is older. She studies until she falls asleep and trains until her magic no longer flows.
Do they have company?
A majority of the time, Ricca prefers to train and study alone, but this is not always the case. When classwork requires teamwork, she does participate to the best of her ability. Her classmates,
Newt,
Mara,
Lenne, and
Mauroban have managed to get her to loosen up a bit as well, so she is a bit more accepting of socialization than she used to be.
What do they eat for meals?
Ricca eats well, as she wants to keep her strength up as much as possible. She eats bugs exclusively as a Fae. The clan usually has plenty of them for her to catch or have collected. She also drinks some coffee, some strange plant from the realm of Nature she has grown fond of despite its bitterness. It is expensive though.
Do they company for those meals?
Lately, Ricca has been more welcoming to company while eating her meals, but she is often so busy that she eats while working. This means that she may not have much time to talk. She might eat while moving along with the rest of her classmates as they go to classes.
Where do they eat them?
Mostly in her lodging provided by the Circle, but probably also in the Library or on the go.
Ricca might have sparing contact with Weir, as Weir is usually out and about for most of the day but Ricca remains static or in a few locations throughout the day.
______________
Arghest
What do they do?
Arghest is a Rasa herder.
Do they hunt? Study? Train?
Arghest does not hunt, study, or train. He mostly just herds his flock of Rasa from patch of vegetation to patch of vegetation. It is uncommon that he does anything else.
Do they have company?
Angus, their prized Rasa is their company most of the time, but all the Rasa are his company. He is solitary most of the time and is aloof around other dragons. When they do come across other dragons, it is only for a moment, for trading, or for directions. (Arghest gives them usually, as he doesn’t really ever get lost.)
What do they eat for meals?
Being a Snapper, Arghest grazes all day. He doesn’t eat meals really, and he instead eats any plants he might find. He can eat plain grass as well as ferns, mushrooms, bushes, wild vegetables, pine needles, and even treebark if he’s feeling it.
Do they company for those meals?
He usually grazes alongside his Rasa. He might eat with someone he’s just traded with or if they have come up on his campfire. He often collects and sells Rasa wool.
Where do they eat them?
Anywhere really!
