They did not know how long they had been out. All they knew was that they were covered in blood, and next to them, draped over the counter of a tavern, was the body of another banescale. Stoker had gotten so incredibly horribly lost, and last they could remember, they had entered the Scarred Wasteland, and had been bitten by some sort of small beast. They raised a hand to their neck and felt a pair of indents in their scales, like bitemarks. Stoker felt full and satisfied in a way they had never felt before. But most of all, they had their mind back, and they had a mission. So, they left the riverboat tavern, wracked with guilt over the murder they had clearly committed, despite not having any memory of it. How were they supposed to be a masterpiece of the Flamecaller now? Their beautiful creation had been corrupted by something evil, something hungry. Their mom was going to be so mad. They wandered the wastes until they came across a glass observatory. Inside, it seemed to hold the universe. Stars and galaxies swirled within. It was beautiful, everything Stoker no longer felt anymore. Maybe they could hide within, get lost in the cosmos, and forget about the job they had been given. They were, after all, an utter failure. But, they could not stop themselves from being present. Izel was in there. Drew was in there. And Ishtar had to make sure that their new friends would be alright. And that's what Ishtar kept telling himself. It was easier than admitting how he truly felt about Izel, how they felt like their heart will be torn from his chest all over again, just like when he lost his first partner. So Ishtar watched. Stoker came to.

DANG Stoker coming in hot with that entrance (pun intended), poor Noct was gone too soon rip. The set up for this challenge is interesting, the family goes for a little space flight! Though I fear what weird dangers Shui has created within them.

@Disillusionist

Yeah :( Originally Stoker and Noct were supposed to fall in love and be mates, but alas... When Noct died, I couldn't resist having them still meet (with a very differet outcome).

Ahhh, Brightsea being able to summon the spirit from the necklace is so wholesome and beautiful! Oh my goodness, Izel and Ishtar are too cute for this world. *insert just kiss already meme here* XD

Poor Stoker! :(
On one hand, I'm glad Ishtar is there watching over the dragons taking part, but on the other, I'm worried about him!

Super excited for the Starfall challenge! It seems super fun (for a Shui challenge, at least) so far!!

RIP Noct, we hardly knew ya, but getting murdered by a now-traumatized banescale vampire is certainly a way to die. On the bright side, the challenge seems fun. I can't wait to see who lives and who dies.

He was destined for greatness without competing for it. But Ichabod knew better. He was strong, stronger than anything else, nothing could kill him. And on top of that, he had a mission. His father was soft. There was a loose end that had been left unchecked for far too long, because even a dragon as great as his father was prone to sentiment, however little he cared to admit. But Ichabod had been doing his own sleuthing, sending pieces of shade, so small that they were undetectable, to spy on these loose threads. And it was a good thing he did, because they were plotting against him, meeting with dragons from outside The Disciples, planning the downfall of his father's great plan. A plan that Ichabod hoped to hijack and take for himself. It was then that they saw them, laughing and bouncing around the void of space from meteor to planet, with their fooling friends, like this was all some giant game. Even Ichabod's weakling brother was among them, smiling like a fool. Happiness was for those too pathetic to dream of something bigger than themselves. They were a strong fighter - it was too be expected. Shui had trained them after all. But Ichabod's size came to his advantage, and he soon overpowered them. Once he was sure he had a good grip on the wildclaw, he began to bounce away from their foolish friends, deeper into space and towards his target - a feature of the observatory that his father had explained to him gleefully. It was a masterpiece, created from the true genius of Myca, partnered with the magical arcane ability of Klassia. A giant black hole. The true genius of the black hole lay not in its likeness to the real life phenomenon, however. There was something even more devious about the structure. Myca had guaranteed that anyone who was to be consumed and destroyed by it would not just be utterly crushed with not even an atom of their body remaining, but everything about their very being would be wiped from existence. No one would remember a thing about them. Their children would still exist, the physical proof of their mark on Sornieth was not so easily wiped, but even the strongest memory would not be able to recall their face, their voice, their impact on the world, no matter how long they spent researching and trying to put together the pieces. Any words that described their existence would fade from the page they had been written on. It was complete and utter destruction, plain and simple. So, hearing the sweet cries of anguish of Drew's poor, pathetic friends behind him, Ichabod let go of Drew, gripping tightly to the surface he clung to in order to ensure he too would not be sucked in, and he watched, feeling a deeper sense of glee than he had ever experienced, as they fell towards the center of the vortex, and soon faded entirely from view. Behind him, Ichabod could hear the despairing wails of the gathered dragons shift to confused muttering that eventually grew into more gleeful shouts as they continued their traipse through the void of space. Ichabod was not sure why, but he felt overwhelmed by a victorious satisfaction. It was delightful, to watch as someone put their complete and utter trust in him. He could see why Shui had built this place, it was infectious. Lewsyn wanted more. He needed more, if wanted to have any hope of beating Shui and stealing godhood from him out from under him. Lewsyn was well aware that Dawson was gaining feelings for him. He did not reciprocate them, but he fed into them. Infatuation was a powerful incentive to trust him, to follow him. He would not shatter the wildclaw's illusion of a relationship. Missy was right, this was the way to go. He could only hope that she would help him continue to build his kingdom. Dawson would not be enough for long. But for now, he was enjoying himself, bathing in the adoration of Dawson as he explained what he saw within the void, the many realities that spun out from around him, both made of stardust and binary code. The rest could wait. Lewsyn was a patient man. Hime asked, suddenly craning her neck around. She had been very protective of her son ever since the disappearance of Izzard. Ichabod was her only remaining child, after all. "It looks as though he entered the challenge himself," Shui mused. "I underestimated the boy. He has far more ambition than I ever could have imagined." His voice was just dripping with pride, and it made Hime feel proud as well. She had made something good with him. The wildclaw moved forward to touch the screen the couple were watching on, poking and prodding until he narrowed in on Ichabod. He seemed to be on the hunt, focused on a target. "Wait! What's that in the background!" Hime exclaimed, gesturing at a familiar looking blur. "It's nothing," Shui said, scrolling away quickly to bring Ichabod into more full focus. "No!" Hime said, moving forward to take control of the screen away from Shui, turning the attention instead on the familiar colours she had taken note off. He was bigger than Hime had remembered, but that was to be expected. After all, Izzard would have grown a lot since she last saw him. "I thought you said that Izzard had died," Hime said, turning her fury on Shui for the first time ever. It caught her off guard, normally she wouldn't dare challenge her charge and love of her life. "He's dead to me, he's a weakling. Ichabod was always the more dominant son. I won't have anymore weak children, it's an embarrassment. Let the peasants raise him for all I care," Shui spat. The resentment in Shui's voice set Hime on guard. She had never heard him speak like that. Or maybe, it was her first time recognizing it for what it was. It seemed the spell she had been under from the moment she identified him as her charge was shattered for the first time. After all, had he not seen her grieve and tear her heart out for the son she had lost? She had suffered for many months, and he knew the whole time, he welcomed it. Of course, this changed nothing about Hime's devotion for Shui, she was sure he had his reasons, but Hime could not help but recognize that a crack had formed in that devotion, a crack she would have to take care to mend before it got out of control. ----- Next ----- @Pocketdog @Lixue @pancakeswithabs @Brasil @Disillusionist @VeniVidiVici @sedge122 @Crescentstar711 @RedSiren @Khyriana @Aquasparky @Leopardmask @BarbaraFett @SakuraSundae @Jaspernoir @Glitchtrap @Sabariel @Aetherstorm @Mutequill @LaSilva007 @chippertowns @Tirtouga678 @Murvax @Drachenschwinge @Calyrex @Lightwolf57 @QuietGhost @queerkestrel @GrinningWolf24 @NewmoonWasTaken @LeafyGaming77 @Reshiramu @clementine2017 @MagicSpyglass @xobrynnx @flareite @catmeow1 @Auraea @harpyja @awaicu ----- Oh man, this is a brutal one. Ichabod's father had told him not to enter the challenges, that he was above them.

Snarling, Ichabod pushed off of a nearly asteroid, locking Drew into a tackle.

Dawson had grown to be a loyal follower in the past year, ever since Lewsyn had rescued him.

"Where did Ichabod get off to?" Hime asked, suddenly craning her neck around.
