Day 44: Glass Observatory

Sentence: Death Streak Roll
Stoker came to.
They did not know how long they had been out. All they knew was that they were covered in blood, and next to them, draped over the counter of a tavern, was the body of another banescale.
Stoker had gotten so incredibly horribly lost, and last they could remember, they had entered the Scarred Wasteland, and had been bitten by some sort of small beast. They raised a hand to their neck and felt a pair of indents in their scales, like bitemarks.
Stoker felt full and satisfied in a way they had never felt before. But most of all, they had their mind back, and they had a mission.
So, they left the riverboat tavern, wracked with guilt over the murder they had clearly committed, despite not having any memory of it.
How were they supposed to be a masterpiece of the Flamecaller now? Their beautiful creation had been corrupted by something evil, something hungry. Their mom was going to be so mad.
They wandered the wastes until they came across a glass observatory. Inside, it seemed to hold the universe. Stars and galaxies swirled within. It was beautiful, everything Stoker no longer felt anymore.
Maybe they could hide within, get lost in the cosmos, and forget about the job they had been given. They were, after all, an utter failure.
Ishtar watched outside the observatory from a safe distance, not getting too close, heeding Mato's warning a year ago about not getting roped in and stuck in Shui's trap. But, they could not stop themselves from being present. Izel was in there. Drew was in there. And Ishtar had to make sure that their new friends would be alright.
And that's what Ishtar kept telling himself. It was easier than admitting how he truly felt about Izel, how they felt like their heart will be torn from his chest all over again, just like when he lost his first partner.
So Ishtar watched. And hopefully everything would be okay.
"Woah! This is so cool! I'm floating!" Brightsea exclaimed as she stepped into the void within the observatory and began to float among the stars and galaxies. Sunny watched her go, grinning widely. Her ghostly body was not affected by gravity the same way mortal bodies were.
Beside the tundras, Zarzuela drifted by gracefully, eyes gleaming with anticipation and yearning. Sunny knew she was excited at the prospect of seeing Capriccio again.
Last of all, Buttons followed behind everyone, spinning through space aimlessly like he had no idea how to control himself. Sunny laughed, and moved to help him right himself before he got himself too busy.
The party was definitely bigger than when Sunny and Zarzuela faced the challenges alone. It made it more fun, but also more scary. But Sunny was going to get her family out alive if it was the last thing she did.
