The building of AGEA was something that could change the world. It powered buildings, it made machines, and it created dragons not born of the Eleven. It powered a whole community and allowed Oden to thrive. Wires interlocked as strange new dragons walked and flew. A blend of skin, magic, and machine becoming the new normal. The daily schedule for my previous Lucklocke did not work out, so I decided to take things more casually this time. This is a new universe and a new journey. I started with three G1 hatchlings for plot reasons, all of which have grown up while I was planning, this time around, and am hoping to make a story that I am more connected to. I will be doing rolls when I have the energy to write and there may be some time skips. Outside of that, this will be similar to my previous Lucklocke. Mercury's Coming

Introduction and Ruleset | Table of Contents | Characters | Pinglist | Announcements
The year was 2251. An isolated community of arcane dragons attempted to play god by trying to replicate the generation of lux, and despite all odds, they succeeded. Dragons no longer had to care for themselves and defied all laws. But all good things could not last, and AGEA broke down. The dragons were so distracted by the miracles that they could not see the disrepair.

The year is now 2334, and three young survivors are the only remnants of the once-thriving community of Oden. Equator is the eldest of the survivors. A tundra of mixed heritage who holds a propensity for athletics and has dreams of renewing their home. Asteroid, just a week younger than Equator, is a fae who holds himself to great standards and just wishes to be the best, leading the survivors with his brilliant mind and perfectionist personality. The baby of the group is Question. A creative nocturne with a yearning for the past and high amounts of magic, who finds herself lost when all of that is taken away. Together, they hope to bring Oden back and survive despite the odds. Not everything is as it seems, however, and magic alien to dragonkind is at play. Oden proves to have far more magic than anyone could have anticipated and a new world approaches, bringing with it dragons not of this plane of existence.
Hello there and welcome back. I will also state that while I am starting with three G1s, this is not a G1-only run. I will be accepting all kinds of dragons. With that out of the way, let’s get to the rules!

Ruleset wrote:
The Basics
-Begin with 3 unrelated G1 Arcane hatchlings that have been bought from the Auction House.
-Afterwards, use the Random Number Generator to determine what kind of result occurs.

Results
1-25 - Fight. Roll 1-100 for every dragon involved in the fight to determine their fate and roll the number of dragons that are involved in the fight.
1-50: No Change
51-85: Minor Injury
86-95: Major Injury
96-100: Dies

If it is rolled with no change, then that dragon is fine. If the dragon dies, they will be removed from the story. If the dragon gains an injury, subsequent fights will be impacted depending on the injury type. The start of each day will require a roll to try and heal the injury.

Minor Injuries do not impact a dragon in a fight, but if a dragon has three minor injuries at one time, these will combine into a major injury. At the start of the day before the main roll is performed, do a roll from 1-10 for each minor injury a dragon has to determine whether it heals.
1-7: Heal
8-10: Doesn't Heal

Major Injuries impact a dragon in a fight. A dragon in a fight with a major injury must roll a number ranging from 1-100 in order to determine what happens to them. Major injuries also have to be healed off with the following rates. If a dragon obtains three minor injuries, then it becomes a major injury.
1-10: Survive unharmed
11-20: Minor Injury
21-50: Major Injury
51-80: Incapacitated
81-100: Dies

1-5: Heal
6-10: Doesn't Heal

Incapacitated dragons are those that are close to death or are otherwise severely injured. They are unable to breed and if they are selected when an event is rolled, they are always killed off. If a dragon that is incapacitated is chosen for an ordinary fight, then roll between the number 1 and 2. If the number is 1, then they survive but remain incapacitated. If the number is 2, then they die. Incapacitated dragons can be healed like any other dragon, however.
1-5: Healed of their incapacitated status
6-8: Remains incapacitated for that day
9-10: Dies

26-55 - Write. Write a piece revolving around Mercury's Coming.
56-85 - Draw. Draw a piece revolving around Mercury's Coming.
86-90 - Buy. Buy a dragon from the Auction House or pull a dragon into the playthrough. Roll a number between 1 and 2. If the number is 1, then the dragon is a hatchling. If the number is, then the dragon is an adult.
91-95 - Breed. Breed two dragons with each other. If there are no compatible dragons with one another, instead buy a hatchling from the Arcane Auction House. Roll a number between 1 and 4. If the number is from 1-3, buy a single hatchling. If it is 4, buy a clutch of hatchlings if possible.
96-100 - Event. A major event has occurred within the settlement of Oden. Randomly determine who is caught up in the event. Then roll a number from 1 to 2 to determine their fate.
1 - The dragon comes out no worse for the wear.
2 - The dragon dies.

Other
-When an egg is hatched. Roll a number between 1 and 2. If the number is 1, the hatchling survives. If the number is 2. The hatchling dies.
-I will be using the Lorelocke Prompt Generator to inspire what will be written.
-Whenever an Interlude occurs in the story, multiple dragons can be made into members of Oden. This is to allow gift dragons to come in more succinctly.

Welcome to Oden!
Do you want to make a mark within Mercury’s Coming? Well, if you want a dragon of yours to feature within Mercury’s Coming, then I am willing to take care of a dragon. This is potentially a long-time commitment, so be careful of which dragon you give to me. If the dragon ends up being taken out within Mercury’s Coming, then I am willing to give them back if you do not want them to be exalted or placed within the Hibernal Den. If you want to feature a dragon within Mercury’s Coming, then just ping me! They may not arrive right away due to rolls, but I’ll try to feature them as an NPC or as a member of Oden.

Hiatus Work
Hello there, @Mercury's Coming!

School is coming up for me and because of this, I am going to take a bit of a hiatus on Mercury’s Coming. During this hiatus, I will be doing a few things. First of all, there will be a long time skip between the Third Interlude and Chapter 60. Secondly, I have a few things that I plan to do during this hiatus.

-Finish up the bios for the remaining dragons and potential new dragons.
-Gene Guava and any other dragons that are incomplete.
-Complete pursuits.
-And when it’s all done, start rolling!

As a note, I will be introducing new dragons. Some through breeding, some through buying. Certain dragons are also on sale if you want them. The following of which are:

-Rivulet - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-Echinococcosis - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-Paleolith - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-Java - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-Electra - 15,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-TrinityLapis - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.
-ThreeStars - 12,000 Treasure, or 12 Gems.

-Clover - 7,000 Treasure, or 7 Gems.
-Equator - 10,000 Treasure, or 10 Gems.
-Mille - 10,000 Treasure, or 10 Gems.

Any dragons that are not bought or traded off will remain in my lair. I will make sure to save old dragon progress and outfits on my Google, so it may take time for dragons to come over. I am also allowing you to send dragons over to be featured in Interlude III, and I'll make sure to feature them in Mercury's Coming!

Chapter 1 - Touched by Nature
The die has been cast. The number that was rolled was 98. A major event has occurred. Question is the dragon that is involved within it.

Question's fate is at Lady Luck's hands. The number that was rolled was 1. Question comes out unscathed.
Question
We’re alone. Truly, wholeheartedly, alone.

I wanted to deny this to be the case, that we still had our friends and our families, but I had grown up and learned the truth. There were just us three. Equator, the tundra that I took as my big sibling, Asteroid, a fae just a few hours younger than them, and me, the little one. The thrumming came from the air into my heart, the twisting reminding me of the magic I once had. Why was it so hard not to think about it? I felt a flash of memories.

“Question’s magic! Where’s Question’s magic!?”
“I advise thou to keep calm.” The dry tone of Asteroid came into my eardrums.
“But Question’s magic!” I shouted back.
“Novelux is conducted through the mechanical corporal agent of AGEA. Agea is now 'i disrepair and can argal no longer produce novelux.” Asteroid spoke back.
“Then… Are we going to die? Question eats novelux.” A quiet murmuring.
“I hast known that dragons that live without of Oden hast been able to gather food from both plants and animals. Would we start to forage, then there may be a chance for us to survive.” He advised me.
“O-okay…” I said back.

It was only then that I was startled out of memory. I saw a small group of insects crawling around underneath my feet. There were bright green beetles crawling under my claws. The number that was rolled was 51. Question has gained a Minor Injury. --------------------- Equator Question had changed since she came back home. Not only had the nocturne gained golden scales all around her body, but she had also brought home a foul-scented animal. She called the creature ‘Waddles’, and claimed that it was her ‘familiar’. I personally didn’t want the beast around, but it could prove some use to Oden. My biggest concern for this community was the food. There was a pile of insects in front of me. The supply of food that we had gotten. Asteroid and Question were eating it just fine, but I couldn’t eat it for some reason. I’d been coughing up the food for what seemed like hours and just wanted to eat novelux or get pumped with fluids. What did tundras eat? I wondered as I grabbed a dead bat and tried to place it in my mouth. The body crunched underneath my teeth, I suddenly felt sick. I spat out the ugly animal and squished it. I noticed both my Clanmates staring at me as I crushed the thing. There’s something wrong with me. All of the hatchlings pointed it out. I hurried away near the dead trees, placing my body next to it. I saw Question’s eyes poke out, her hardened scales coming into my sight. She gives me a large smile and waved one of her hands. “Question wonders if you need food.” She says to me. “I do… Do you have any ideas about what to eat?” I asked her. “What about plants? Question wonders if you have eaten plants yet.” She replies to me loudly. “I haven’t, but that might be a good idea,” I note to myself. “What if I can’t eat plants, though?” “You have to eat something! Animals eat, so dragons have to as well!” Question seemed to say with concern, brushing a bunch of leaves off her body. “Well, it’s better to try than to starve,” I spoke as I brushed my tail against the ground. “Okay! Waddles can help sniff out plants with you.” Question states to me. She places a hand on her jaws, giving a shrill whistle as her pig-like companion trots over. It looks at me with giant amber eyes and seemed raring to go. I came closer to Question and was ready to go with her. My wings suddenly felt the sensation of crawling, as did my tail. How much had changed when AGEA broke down? I didn’t know, but I had to move forward. I stepped closer and closer to the periwinkle trees. Question’s wings flapped above me and Waddles’ hooved body bounded over. Asteroid was still thinking about how he could lead Oden, but right now, survival was the only thing on my mind. My feet brush against a patch of manaweed, my eyes suddenly catching the sight of bright blue mushrooms. Question seemed to stare at one of the mushrooms in her hand, licking it. I pulled some of the weeds out with my hands. I start to chew and swallow them. The mushrooms were next, crunched in my teeth. It felt right to eat these plants, and it was at that moment, I knew that I was meant to eat plants. Question wasn’t, however. I suddenly watched as Question flapped into the thicket as fast as she could, screaming bloody murder. Waddles seemed to wait for Question to emerge, and I was immediately concerned at the noise. I ran over to see Question and noticed the spit-up mushrooms on the floor. It was clear that something in the mushrooms did not react well. I wasn’t sure if it was because she was a nocturne, because she was born of novelux, or because the mushrooms were poisonous, but she was clearly sick. “Question! How can I help?” I asked her. I wasn’t exactly skilled at healing, but I was going to make sure she’s okay. “Question don’t know! Question keeps needing to go to the bathroom!” She simply shouted, her body seeming to sweat more and more. As I observed Question. I concluded that while she was sick and needed to be taken back home, those mushrooms mostly cause her to feel terrible. I knew that it was better to get her back now than later, and Waddles helped to comfort her. The two of us soon brought Question out of the woods and started to get her fluids as fast as possible. Chapter 2 - Forager's Day
The die has been cast. The number that was rolled was 12. A 'fight' has occurred and Question is involved.

Question's fate is in Lady Luck's hands. The number that was rolled was 51. Question has gained a Minor Injury.
Equator
Question had changed since she came back home.

“What if I can’t eat plants, though?”
“You have to eat something!

“Question’s not eating any more mushrooms…” She mutters.
“Yeah. Let’s stick to me eating those mushrooms.” I replied, giving a snort.

Today, Question learned not to eat weird mushrooms and Equator learned that they should eat mushrooms since that’s what their diet is. It was nice being able to write more about another survivor outside of Question and do some character interaction between them. With our characters now knowing what to eat, it’ll be a good time to talk about how to actually build a Clan later. I don’t have too much else to say besides that I hope you enjoy the story so far.

And that Asteroid will get more screen time in the third chapter.

Asteroid
We were taking the first steps to rebuild Oden.

A source of food has been discovered. The flittering insects and the growing plants of Oden serve as a way to gain sustenance. Equator chewed the glowshrooms and the manaweed that budded in the location, and Question enjoyed the beetles that she captured with her claws. I personally cherished the larvae. Their soft bodies and their strips of meat gave me the most satisfaction. Unfortunately, Question was not recovering as fast as I thought she would. The poisoning seemed to have seeped deeper. Equator had been busy with their own affairs. The tundra had been building up the territory and showed interest in finding materials to fortify it. Equator
The gears of my body whirred in my ears. The strange feeling of the metal still placed within my body. I got myself the machinery in the first place to be like the other dragons, but now it was nothing more than a weight on my body. Question had thankfully recovered from the poisoning and was back to her normal self, and I envied her quickness. Asteroid’s metal was as natural as his skin. Question perfectly adapted to the magic that had poured into her. I was the outcast of the group, still weighed down.

What was wrong with me?

I grab a tulip from my most recent gathering and place it in my mouth. The vest that was fused into my chest seemed to be close to coming apart and my metallic legs clanged on the ground. I’d gotten the parts when I was a hatchling, and now I was grown. It was stabbing, it was hard. I had to do something to make myself feel better. It was just the three of us at the moment, but the magical phenomena here have got me to think. First, the Nature-based magic that entered Question’s body, then, the red scales that developed on Equator after the utilization of Arcane magic. It was all so strange. The faint glow of peridot illuminated my eyes. The last touch of Novelux coursed through my very veins. I flutter above the land that I call home, observing what was missing. It was only then that I realized we were missing a water source. We had to go all the way to the cliffs just to take a sip, and while none of us ate seafood, I knew other dragons did. It was necessary to keep access to the tides. I flew alone to the water’s edge, the borders between Arcane and Plague evident in the patched grass. My wings moved in rhythmic motion and I took a glance at the ocean. There was so much beyond Oden that we were never allowed outside of. Those were places that AGEA did not touch. Places where dragons like us could not survive. I did not want to leave Oden, of course, but it was odd knowing how close we were to the outside world. I bend my neck and see what is in the water. Transparent glass minnows swish the water, black maidens and ruby tetras school with one another, and snakeheads push through the tide with ease. I stare intently before feeling warmth in me. A massive figure looms behind me as I turn around. I recognized her as an obelisk. A coal-colored hide was tucked underneath a thick tunic, flecks of gold all across her body. Her mane was beige and red, metallic marks placed inside. The majority of her body was obscured by thick clothing, but even I could see the pale blue eyes underneath that thick hood. She was clearly not from here. “Good day there. Whom might thou be?” I ask in the most polite tone I could muster. She stares emotionlessly, “April.” She replies. “Thou are from Ice, right?” I ask her, continuing to beat my wings. “Yes. Now if you don’t mind, I have a job to do.” April tells me before lifting herself back up. I quickly fly near her, knowing that there is more I want to discuss with the strange obelisk. “Wait up! I do lack to wot moe about the dragons without of Oden.” I yelp, flapping my wings near April’s face. She looked rather irritated but seemed to oblige. “Oden… I hardly know of Oden… But to the east is Plague. They’re all about survival of the fittest. The woods just outside of this place is Starwood Strand.” April says. She starts to walk through the grass, beckoning me to follow her. Her eyes were still as cold as ice, but the obelisk seemed to lighten up just a tad. She looks in the distance, her hand pointing to the crystalline circle. “The Astrolodome. Magi stay in this location to perform intellectual pursuits.” She remarks to me. “This land is so much bigger than methought.” I say, my frills flapping at the thought of all this land. “You haven’t been outside much, it seems,” April remarked. “Now I need to get back to my job.” She curtly replies. I wanted to keep talking to her, keep having her shower me with attention, but she clearly wanted to go and I acknowledged that. I heard her loud footsteps padding away, and her curly tail swayed in the air. I am now alone once again but know that there are others out there. I stare down at the water and the fish that tear through it. The thought of April is still in my mind. Obelisks were rare enough, but April was clearly not an ordinary obelisk. It was almost like her very soul radiated magic itself. A dragon that was no longer a part of this world. I wanted to learn more about her. My duty as leader came first during these pressing times and I quickly go back to fortifications. It is the life’s work of a leader, after all. --------------------- Hello there. You may have noticed that even though I didn’t get Apparel or a Familiar, I got a new dragon. This is because this dragon happens to be an NPC. April will not be placed under the same rolls as Asteroid, Equator, or Question, but she will occasionally appear around Oden from time to time. I think it’s a nice contrast to have an older dragon that can teach the survivors something new. Besides that, have more Asteroid. He’s trying his best. Chapter 5 - Mysteries of the Outside
The die has been cast. The number that was rolled was 33. An exercise in writing Asteroid's exploration of the territory was chosen.

Walls had been erected in Oden, the territory was growing and I kept my eyes open for any dragons on the horizon.
