Hi y'all! I saw this and decided to join in - spending an insane amount of time in the coli lately, and I need something to keep my mind from wandering too far from my skull. ------ A gnarled gaoler dragon paced into the stretch of open space the other dragons were showing their day's hunting rewards. With a rumble in his broad chest that preceded his words, he intones "Peace upon your clans. I have heard of your quest, and choose to join your way." His speech patterns are overly formal, perhaps even stilted. But his tone and body language are friendly. With a nod, he settles himself at the edge of the group. "In my clan, I am known as Tiroline. I have, perhaps, slept overlong in the Dens of my Order. It is well that I have wakened, the Shade's touch has spread beyond my most secret fears." ----- I'll edit in my win conditions later. I'm tired now.

Though he doesn't have any coin to purchase anything, he has plenty of rotala gathered from the Mire, flowers for pigment gathered from the training grounds, and various other fruits and ingredients. He skips morning training and slinks away from the cave to make sure his plans are not discovered by any other nearby dragon. It's not until the evening that he comes back, his gift in hand, spotting the Imperial showing off his final gene. He approaches the other, breathless from excitement as he greets him. "Trev!" he grins widely. "Congratulations on being the first to finish your quest. You look amazing. Really, really, amazing." Sal can't wipe the grin from his face, beaming brightly. "I wanted to make something for you, in celebration. You've come so far, and achieved so much, so this is the least I can do." For some reason the thought of him leaving depresses him. Of course he'll leave, they all will eventually when they finish. What else would they achieve staying here? Nothing. But regardless, his emotions do not follow in line with his logic. Perhaps it is because Trev was the first person to follow alongside him. Perhaps it is because he feels Trev is his first friend. Regardless, he can't hold Trev back for his own selfish reasons. Whatever he decides to do from here, he'll support him and wish him well. @Lirikai congrats Trev! So so glad that Trickmurk skin was almost un-noticeable on you so it went to Sal instead, it would have been anticlimactic causing your quest to finish so soon because of a freebie!
Keep going, help Scylla complete her quest and drum some sense into her along the way please ;)

@Lunartwist

Trev blinks in surprise when Sal beelines right for him, carrying the most beautiful cake he's ever seen in his life. It even shines a little, just like the silks he loves so much.

To be honest, it's also the only cake he's ever seen in his life, since his family wasn't much on celebrating hatchling birthdays, but that just makes it extra special. Sal's excitement and the cake itself bring tears to his eyes.

"You...you made this?" he says, a little overwhelmed. "It's amazing. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Thank you."

It's nice, the cake and the attention, but part of him feels as though it might be...well. A vow of poverty didn't mean a denial of celebration, did it? So he smiles and lets his momentary thoughts go, and nods to his friend, met so recently yet it feels like they've known each other for so long.

He grins at everyone else, too. "I'm sure we'll be having plenty of cake again soon," he promises, and even sends a grin to Scylla before turning back to Sal. After all, there's a stubborn, annoying, obnoxious dragon who still needs an escort, even though she wouldn't admit in a million years that she's starting to actually enjoy his company out on the road.

"Thank you, my friend. In some ways, this is your celebration, too. You brought us all together and gave us a path to follow, so I hope you appreciate how you have changed all our lives in turn. Now, how about you cut, and I serve?"

@gn0me
Hahaha, thanks for the thought, but I'm glad too! I thought about that one, but Trev is prideful enough that, at least until a new holiday, the only accent that will do for him is a super rare drop in Ghostlight Ruins, and yeah, Scylla still makes him bring all her stuff in to show it off. He'll definitely be around!

@lirikai
Hawthorne's eyes widen as she sees the party being thrown. "Congratulations, Trev! I'm so happy for you!"
Arzon tags along reluctantly, obliged to give congratulations. "Good job, i suppose." She shows no emotion in her voice, but the fact that she cares enough to say anything at all makes Hawthorne beam at her. "Of course, had I been grown, I would have finished faster." Hawthorne laughs at Arzon's words.

@Magicisreal
Trev happily serves Hawthorne some cake. "Thanks! I'm sure you'll be getting cake in no time, too!"

He hesitates for a minute, then offers Arzon a plate too, while Scylla laughs in the background. "Maybe you will, at that."

@lirikai
Arzon looks at the offered cake for a few seconds, and quickly snatches it from Trev's talons.
@lunartwist
Arzon considers the cake, then pads up to Sal. "What kind of cake is this? I can't eat cheesecake. Or any kind of cake with cream cheese frosting."

Daily Update!

Sal's eventful day starts before he even wakes. His dreams are restless and filled with images of a strange purple Banescale. His words ring true, though they make him feel a pang of shame. He had been completely satisfied with his plain look until he started noticing his friends becoming more and more decorated. They had luck he just hadn't experienced yet. Had he started to become...envious? The Banescale seemed to think so, and deep down he felt the same. It was shameful how he could think such vain thoughts. Be it from his nature as an Imperial, or a personal failing he wasn't sure, but he would work harder not to start indulging in such damaging thoughts.

The Banescale seemed to recognize his strong adherence to his own code, and left him a gift. An accent. The tendrils of shadow began to crawl up his scales. It was horrifying to see the darkness come over him. He looked a little monstrous. And yet...he felt more at peace. The Shadowbinder's essence was comforting instead of terrifying. Yes...this would certainly help.

He awoke, and to his shock, the shadowy tendrils still remained. He hoped his new appearance didn't spook anyone.

Sal barely starts his morning training before the news came. Trev had been the first to succeed at this quest. Before Sal runs off to gather ingredients to make a cake, he achieves level 24.

He also grabs this fluffy tail, but since he already has one, he doesn't need this one. He offers it up to anyone who wants it. Red isn't really his color anyway.

Scarlet Wooly Tail

Sal grinned. "I had been saving foodstuffs for such an occasion. I knew you were getting close. I saved rotala for the flour and thickener, various flowers for pigments, and fruits for flavors and sugar. All and all, it turned out great. I'll have to make more as other dragons finish."

"I would not have come this far without you," he grinned."Truly. So thank you. Let's get to eating cake. I'm excited to see how this turned out."
