Rocko has revealed himself a traitor not just to the Cage, but Sornieth itself. The pearl-catcher practiced dark magic and brought forth a violent and dangerous affliction upon the Shade-touched within the Cage. With some of the more powerful members of the clan out of commission, the Eldritch and demi-gods have stepped forward to safeguard those who remain.

Arwel, daughter of light, has been missing for months now alongside Terror, son of plague-blessed Conviction. The most the clan knows is that she is being used to create a creature capable of destroying the shade. Or the eleven.

Conviction and the immune travel the continent in rare and elusive ingredients to create a cure for Rocko's shade-touched affliction. They plan to hunt down and destroy the pearlcatcher in the process. They are down a team member, however, and need to find a replacement fast lest they lose Rocko to the Forbidden Portal forever.

Hallow and Oizys reconnect with old foes from the Behemoth who say a dark and malevolent force has taken root in the underbelly of the Behemoth with a plan to rot the tree from within. The former enemies have called a truce while they investigate if this is a lead on the Shadewalkers who have taken their clanmates.

Orobas and the demons worry for Sornieth as they care for the sick and wounded. But something stirs in the Abyssal Void, the presence of the Shademother grows, and something pulls her closer to the rift that will allow her return.

Sinew arrived on Sornieth with a grave warning and a spark of hope. The deities were aware of the Shade's evergrowing presence and plans and were sending down their most powerful children to aid in the fight. Three had arrived with eight remaining, but one of the three had mysteriously vanished....

The Original Legion of the Skull was in a massive territorial dispute with a large serthis clan that had taken up residence around the Rotrock rim. Though many serthis clans lived in plague lands, most did not chase their dragon neighbors from their hallowed home. The legion fell after an unsuccessful attempt to reclaim the Rotrock Rim.

With her dying breath, Khrynia, leader of the legion, called on her deity. Her prayers were answered in an unusual fashion, as the Plaguebringer promised that the legion would survive even though Khrynia would not.


Years passed and the few survivors had given up on reclaiming the Rim. Flamepelt, Khrynia's grandfather, told stories to the young hatchlings in his care. One of them, Eckart, was enamored by the stories of the Legion. As a young adult, Eckart tried to rebuild the Legion, but few wanted to join. Unwilling to give up, Eckart founded The Cage, a scientific division dedicated to researching the Shade, and Shade-touched. The Cage grew rapidly and even drew in some demonic entities.
